Bad app, no customer service

MyEpic would in theory be really cool if it worked to do what it claims to be able to do. I have tried logging out and logging back in, deleting and Re downloading MyEpic , and resetting my phone and it still never stops the infinite loading screen while I’m trying to see my stats, or track my day.

The most frustrating part is the lack of any recommended troubleshooting or customer service whatsoever, as the help center links just take you to their FAQs as does the “app support” link on MyEpic Store. It seems like if I wanted to get anywhere with this I would have to call one of the contact phone numbers, but I feel like it’s unlikely that that will get me anywhere.

I really just hope they patch this super buggy app soon so that I can start tracking my days without having to get another additional app to do so. The only reason I gave two stars and not one is because sometimes the maps work well.

Slow, crashes, poor UI

While the idea behind using an app to manage your day on the mountain is great, MyEpic fails in the execution. The user experience is not intuitive, with the Plan Your Day section a bit confusing, and too reliant on buggy web views of items. MyEpic is prone to some bugs as well, most recently MyEpic crashed every time I tried to load the trail map, which is not iteal when you cannot obtain an paper map any longer. Speaking of maps, trying to read a large mountain trail map on a small phone screen in the cold is a very poor customer experience Vail.

Apart from MyEpic , the information inside MyEpic is not always up-to-date. For example, not all dining locations ahve their hours up-to-date.

Vail: if you're going to rely on an app for all guest navigation on the mountain, you really need to dedicate more resources to developing MyEpic and maintaining the data inside it.

Please update your app⛷

Please update your app. I check it every morning to ski where the best place to ski is. For the last three days Attitash has falsified there lift status. Bear peak has been closed and the slow triple was the only lift running…on a powder day no less (2/4/22). If the lifts are closed and you have limited terrain please say so. I feel like it’s a waste of gas and time to go stand in line and wait for a 16 minute plus lift ride to the summit. Also, if you intend to lie about lift and trail status please don’t post a safety warning on your app about ducking ropes to ski terrain that should be open. No secrets??? Are you kidding me there was so much closed powder on Friday 2/4/22 it was embarrassing. Please just be honest and if your not, please don’t threaten to pull passes for ducking ropes when it’s your fault the lifts and terrain aren’t open. I love Attitash, but each and every day so far this it has been a disappoint.

Worse every year

I’ve been using MyEpic for 4 years. I’d like to say it’s worse every year and they literally removed every feature that I liked. 4 years ago, the map is not very good. but they have badges to collect and some challenges to complete. it also showed every lift you took. who don’t like badges? for example, miles per day, or lifts in lifetime. They removed the feature and there’s no way to retrieve those info. then they replaced the tracking with the basic simple vertical feet. it’s not that useful for a single day. but I get used to it and found it useful to summarize the season. BOOM! it’s gone this year. and actually the entire app stopped working. it just showed that login circle spinning forever. Really, epicmix, can you please complete some user experience survey and function test before updating MyEpic ? I really hope MyEpic can be useful.

Go back to the basics because this app is GARBAGE!

MyEpic is TERRIBLE! It features are never updated! It will say there is a 5 min line to get on a lift when in reality it is 30-45min. The weather is also never updated and only forecasts a day or two out. Even after a pow day it will say 2” when in reality that was from two days ago and really they have 8”. The grooming reports are also inconsistent. Please go back to using a website or even a phone call where you can listen to a recording of a weather report in the morning. Or for god sake at least give an update to a third party forecaster like OpenSnow so the conditions are available. Vail you have ruined every mountain that you have taken over. Time to boycott everyone! 1.5 Billion dollars on hand and a 76% increase in pass sales, yet you can’t give us a simple condition report or even open your lifts. FIGURE IT OUT!

Bad links - confusing site

The site kept kicking me out saying error adding skiers to pass. So they give a phone number to call. Ends in 0063. You call them and they give you a number to call ending in 0033. Been on hold here forever - giving me time to write this review. There’s more. If you’ve changed your e-mail, need to go through voice help - no help on site. (That was my first 30 minute hold). Then when I went to add rentals, it tells me to log in - after I placed the order, to receive 10% off - A LITTLE LATE!
I’m not a hater - in fact love EpicMix. Love MyEpic , the ski tracking, the site is so comprehensive and cool, I feel bad not giving these guys 5 stars and great reviews. Just having a terrible time getting set up. Ugh!

By

why update to make it worse?

I got MyEpic a few weeks ago and yeah it wasn’t great but it also wasn’t terrible. It did what I needed it to do. Just updated it and now it’s awful! The top and bottom menus are blacked out so you can’t see the navigation icons and makes the UX like we’re running an app that hasn’t been updated since the iPhone 4 era. You have to just randomly tap around the screen and blindly hope it takes you somewhere helpful. It’s also WAY glitchier. you can’t scroll or click on anything without it spazzing. I didn’t have to re-log in every time with the old version either, now I do. Saving log in state is very simple guys. Can you use some of that extra money from this year’s astronomical sales to hire a better developer?

By

Older version was FAR superior

I was incredibly disappointed to open MyEpic this year and discover that the badges were gone! It used to be a blast trying the different challenges and comparing notes with family at the end of the day. Also gone are the ability to link and share with your group members. I liked that it stored the photos from past seasons taken by the photographers stationed on the slopes… those are all gone too. The map constantly snaps back to your current position, which is annoying when you are at Peak 10 at Breck trying to scroll over and plan a route to Peak 7. You can’t take your finger off the screen or it puts you back over at 10. This version is just plain boring. Bring back the badges!!!!

App Doesn’t work

I have been working with the Vail IT team for over a week as my EpicMix app doesn’t work. I take them at their word that they are working it as it worked for one fleeting moment on my phone but not my ipad … now nothing. I have suggested on several occasions that we get on the phone to ensure it is not user error on either side … but they have not agreed to do so! I am now thinking that there is a linkage issue with my account on their side.
Respectfully out of patience!

By

Wish there was a zero star option..

Just thinking about the new app puts me in a bad mood.. besides the fact that 80% of the time you can’t log in to view your stats for the day, I haven’t had a single day track all my lifts yet this year. Last year it was 50/50 but this year has been awful. Also, it’s not a bank account.. re-logging in every time you open MyEpic gets old real quick.

BRING BACK THE OLD APP! The badges were fun, tracking your friends progress was a good time and being able to access your account online to modify your lifts taken if any were missed or double-read was just convenient (old app features).. I could keep going, but you get the idea..

By

Doesn’t track all your runs

I like that they finally fixed the tracking or at least that’s what they say.

If you haven’t experienced MyEpic yet, they make you “always allow location”. They then tell you that it will stop tracking you once you leave the mountain. Apple then notifies you that they are still tracking you three days later and ask if you want to disable location. Why can’t it use the “allow location when using MyEpic” like every other app that tracks?

They just updated to fix this problem, so I will see this weekend when I try it again.

The biggest problem is that it doesn’t track your runs accurately. It had problems last year with using the RF readers at the lifts, but now that it has the GPS (that you have to set at always locate) and it misses more runs than before. I use a second app that tracks my runs exactly every time I use it. The Epic Mix app misses more than 50% of my runs.

I have no reason to use an app that doesn’t do one of the simple things it was designed to do.

Good app but inconsistent performance

Lift line wait time estimates are a great feature but worked inconsistently. Worked fine Friday 28 Jan but on following Saturday, all the wait times went to 0 mins or 1 min by 1130 for the rest of the day. The real wait was significantly longer! Also, the interactive maps would always reset the map center to current location as one tried to scroll around the map to study the trails. This is an annoying bug!

By

Very buggy

They added back some time features that were missing last year. The most recent update did not work for me for a few days but then worked Intermittently for a few days before dying again. The gps tracker was a nice addition but has worked just two of five days so far. The last two days MyEpic just spins trying to load data and fails. Also, the lift/trail status data inexplicably seems to be sourced separately from the same info on their website as they don’t match. Recommend not using until they release a stable version because it is a giant headache.

By

Just Spins

MyEpic used to work well enough for me. Would have given it 4 stars last season. But this season - just like everything else Vail touches - it’s completely broken. Won’t let me log in or look at my stats. The profile screen and stats screen just show endless “loading” pinwheels. I see from the other reviews I’m not alone. The rest of it functions fine, but doesn’t give you anything you can’t get on the website. The lift line wait times are new, but I can’t tell you how often Ive been standing in line at a lift for 15 minutes, not even to the front yet, and MyEpic shows a 2 or 3 minute wait time. Pretty worthless feature IMO.

By

Broken...

App generally works but with each upgrade something breaks.

They added the GPS tracking and said it stops when you leave the resort. WRONG! I was at Beaver Creek yesterday and it tracked me until I ran MyEpic on the way home about 40 miles away. That gives you bad stats as well.

The lift based stats are erratic as well. It failed at Vail two weeks ago until after the end of the day. It was working at Beaver Creek yesterday but now it doesn’t show. No stats at all for my ski days earlier this season. Refreshing does not help.

By

Used to be ok - now horrible

They added some new features this year that seemed like they’d be good. Unfortunately, MyEpic took a major step backwards.

The updated lift line status is nice. It would be even better if they added a sort by busiest, so I could quickly see what to avoid.

The reason for the low rating is what I consider to be the core functionality - tracking my stats. It used to track my stats via the lifts and required me to do nothing. It was a fun and easy way to see the day. Now it appears I have to have MyEpic open to get minimal tracking. Even then it’s hit or miss what it records. To get anything beyond basic, buggy elevation tracking, I now have to start tracking. I’m assuming they’re trying to make it like Strava.

The added benefit of true GPS tracking is cool, but that should be additive. I should still be able to get the same functionality I’ve enjoyed for the last 10 years via the lift tracking without having to start tracking.

By

Worst app I have ever downloaded. seriously!

I have downloaded, deleted, redownloaded MyEpic multiple times in order to try to get it to work. Sometimes it just says “no data” with a sad emoji and the “retry” button doesn’t do anything. Sometimes it pulls up a tutorial, showing 4 screenshots of what MyEpic is designed to do, but there is nothing after these 4 screenshots. Sometimes it asks for a login, but my Epic credentials don’t work and it says there is an error. Clicking the “create an account” just leads to a blank page. Perhaps MyEpic could be good, but there is something seriously wrong with it and it doesn’t work at all.

By

Marginal at Best

On my second (and final) season with is app. I don't even bother with it. At its best the only thing I used it for was the snow cams. MyEpic never loads correctly / crashes on start up. I have to manually log in every time (no iCloud keychain or Face ID) makes sense when wearing gloves or mittens right? Can no longer switch between the resorts. Failed to accurately count my runs / elevation (usually misses one to three runs, except last time at Keystone it missed every other run). Reinstalled a few times now it just shows an emoji screen and says “NO DATA AVAILABLE”.
Delete.
I bet there are 5th graders in Fairplay that can write a better app.

By

Needs Sticky Filters

Love how MyEpic tracks my runs and vertical without sapping my phone power (of course, you are being scanned at every lift). And love the interactive maps. But the maps really need filters to be sticky so one has the same view every time the map is opened—it’s annoying to have to set the filters when out on the slopes to get the view you want.

By

Complete and total garbage

I can’t stop using MyEpic because I like to track my activity. But seriously Vail Resorts, how did you ruin an app so quickly? It’s glitchier than free stuff built in people’s basements. You’ve given up most of the helpful features like being able to track family and friends. It randomly logs you out in the middle of doing something. And half the people that try to use it (even when they’ve successfully used it in the past) are unable to login. You’re missing an opportunity to enhance the ski experience with this and it’s sad that you’ve let it rot.

This is a great tool

I have been using MyEpic for the last two seasons, and it has worked great for me. The challenges and the social connectivity are definitely my favorite parts. There is a challenge to ride every lift at a given resort in a single day, and I've completed it at both Keystone and Park City. Very fun. If you are a season pass holder, then you should absolutely use MyEpic!

I've noticed that a lot of the complaints on these reviews are about MyEpic not tracking them consistently. In my experience, it will only do that if I carry my Epic Pass in my pant pocket or in my backpack where it's hard for the scanners on each lift to pick it up. Once I started putting my pass in my breast pocket, I never had any issues.

As far as customer service goes, the one and only time I did have an issue, I emailed them and was responded to within just a few hours. So great job there too.

Great app, needs update/refresh

Really fun app, love how it keeps track of my vertical feet. It’s starting to look dated, so it definitely needs a UI design refresh. Adding friends and family is oddly difficult or impossible, should be super easy and intuitive, like having a user database that you can search. Also you can’t currently correct lift-activity errors within MyEpic , you have to do it thru the main website on an actually laptop or desktop computer. No reason you shouldn’t be able to do that within MyEpic itself. Also, I wish the points or badges mattered, like getting you a free set of fries at some local burger shop or something. Cheers!

Epic mix

Great app. The reason I got MyEpic was so I could track each lifts wait time and see what’s open. As a dug further into MyEpic , the U.I became more than I thought it would be in a good way. MyEpic works great on the background and doesn’t harass you with mean less notifications. MyEpic is perfect for skiing because everything you need is right in front of you most likely because the developers knew skiers and riders would spend a couple minutes on MyEpic at most during a ski day. Overall this is an app that is no question something you should get if you have an epic pass.

By

Permanent Notification

Update: I was finally able to clear the notification tag after playing with sequences of settings and deleting/reinstalling MyEpic . No help from customer support.

Update 2 today: About an hour after posting my update, the notification reappeared. I almost think the developers sent a push notification to punish me for a bad review.

There is a permanent notification tag on MyEpic icon. I've contacted support about it several times. First they promised to fix it. Then they promised to fix it after another bug fix. Now they refuse to answer email or acknowledge the problem. Very poor customer service in my mind to string me along with no resolution after two years.

2.5 stars maybe....

Ok for starters MyEpic isn’t all that bad. It’s got a map of all the mountains, current conditions, lift times, routes, etc. all good stuff. But no one is on their phone enough on the mountain to use it all the time.

What stinks the most is that nothing is synced. My son and I went a whole day boarding with challenges selected. Both of us stayed together the whole day. After looking at MyEpic it says I wasn’t even on the mountain. Nothing registered. Meanwhile my son got only half the lift rides and altitude climbed.

It’s a fun idea to compete against your family. But if your app doesn’t work, it’s just a huge let down at the end of the day.

By

NEEDS UPDATE!!!

MyEpic was working great and reliable. But now it is not accurate at all the lift and terrain is not accurate at all and when you check into the resort it doesn’t show it on your Facebook profile and I have it set to share socially. It also will not let me share my picture on Facebook and I have everything synced correctly. MyEpic needs to be looked at and need to be improved quite a bit. It is also very slow. Please fix ASAP

Garbage

I’ve been an epic pass holder for over 10 years now. At first it was a decent app but lately It seems like they’ve forgotten about MyEpic. Every time I open MyEpic it resets back to metric. Whistler doesn’t show snow conditions. No support for IPhone X. Seriously I can get better reports on Vail resorts from just about any other app. C’mon. Put something good together. We spend a lot of money at your resorts. The least we could get is a good app. Partner up with open snow or something for weather reports. Let us find our friends on the mountain like other apps. Give us good maps we can read. Maybe even think outside the box a little and give us something new.

Public companies..

When the mountain lifts are all running it’s great ... doesn't happen anymore ,as continued cost cutting to meet profit goals obvious.. lift not opening up at all or early to shut down is the standard joke with vail resorts .. understaffed , late too did our snowfall also ... FYI , I purchase six season passes last 30 years and will be my 55th year of skiing .. Heli skii last 40 years Alaska , BC .Chile . New Zealand ... I’ve seen it all thru the years .. don’t get me wrong.. mountains and grooming are a 5 , trees at heavenly best in the world .. just need to keep operation open like the old days ... powder dog , DJ

By

Meh

I like the blueprint of MyEpic but it’s functionality is not very impressive. Having access to the trail map is great, but every time I would explore the map it would keep recentering on my current location. We also had our picture taken a few times but they never posted to MyEpic . It is fun to see your stats and, though I haven’t tried it yet, the challenges look fun.

By

Poor user interface

As a whistler rider I have been using their app for many seasons. It is tuned to a user on the slopes— quick one click access, glove friendly buttons and bold dark fonts. Epic mix has small buttons and hard to read colors. They did do great job of migrating over previous seasons data and login info. Hopefully the application will learn from the best features in the Whistler app. The snow report info is different . The WB apps is more accurate, EM claims much more snow so must be showing 24 hour vs overnight

By

Stats are cool but photos useless.

I am unable to share any of the photos from MyEpic . I have tried to also purchase the photos and the point of sale put 3 pending charges of 50 dollars on my card then was unable to complete my sale. I am literally both unable to export or buy the photos from you.

An EPIC waste of money having photographers on the mountain - only took photos with them hoping someday you will fix MyEpic and I’ll be able to enjoy them.

By

Has potential

Has potential to be even better. Only records elevation where they scan your pass. It would be nice if it tracked how many days you have led at your limited resorts/info on what resorts you get with your pass and how many buddy/swaf passes you have left. A way to see your friends location and stats would be cool too

By

Saved a young man’s life

The emergency contact info on MyEpic helped me call ski patrol seconds after finding a young man hurt after a fall. He was air lifted to a hospital and he’s alive today thanks to the great work by ski patrol and flight for life. I don’t always love the features of MyEpic but the emergency contact info saved a life in 2018.

By

Bring back the Stowe App

So disappointed in this.
I’d check the Stowe App each morning to see which trails were groomed, what lifts were running, how was the snow, etc. so I could see easily what area of the mountain I could take my kids. I could see it all on the map and it was so useful. Now you have to know all the trail names and remember where they are. Yuck.
Now this new app is all about social media and connecting- great. But let’s not sacrifice functionality for instagram likes.

Boo MyEpic!!! Bring back the old Stowe grooming map.

By

Great except for one big miss

MyEpic would easily get 5 stars if the developer would make an update to allow you to see each individual day from past seasons. This is a huge miss - especially if you’re trying to see what your previous max vertical feet day was to try to beat it. Please update!!

Mark   2 months ago

This new app sucks. The old app was simple, clean, and easy. This app tracks my uphill vertical {who fin cares), but wont track my actual downhill skiing vertical. I've followed all the instructions for turning on GPs, but it doesn't work. The old app tracked everything automatically. App is a POS

David Sams   1 year ago

Used to love the app, from day one thru the 1st several years. lately, every year the downward spiral continues. Can only access on phone, not computer. then you have to remember the login creds, as it only remembers a time or 2. if you can ever log in, it frequently doesn't allow you to do anything on your stats. And now all I get is 'unknown error'. And there is no support, just useless FAQs, no # for support, no chat (worthless idiot bot only), no email. Time to free up that memory on the phone and throw this in the crapper.

Paula   2 years ago

All data for stats this season (21/22) gone except 2 days. Worked 2/27/22, now 3/2/22, there are 9 days that just vanished as if I never skied them. Uninstalled/reinstalled app on iPhone, and no change.

Julia Haas   2 years ago

I have the same problem as described by several users here - stats wheel spinning not loading. My son told me it is well known that the app has been broken for months. Is that true?

Ken   2 years ago

2/20/2022 Track Your Stats just spins on my Galaxy A52. I've tried uninstall/reinstall, reset/hard reset, reactivating location, deactivating airplane mode and other Epic recommendations. Spin, spin, spin. Frustrating and time consuming.

David Hoffmeister   2 years ago

Epic mix not working at Northstar for several days. Just spinning and spinning! What can you do to fix it?

Erin L Procopio   2 years ago

This hasn't worked on android for weeks now. Just spins and spins when I try to track my stats. Have tried on 3 different android devices uninstalling and reinstalling as well.

John Adam   2 years ago

EpicMix my-stats not loading on my Android - Galaxy 21. Just get a spining thing. I deleted and reinstalled, but still does work. What should i do?

Vaughn F Decrausaz   2 years ago

App would not load my Stats after January 26, 2022 to my Android phone. Just showed the "circle - circle". I removed the app and tried to reload. Just "circle - circle" again. Friend with an iPhone get the stats. Is it an Android issue or a Vail issue with Android?

Barry Tunno   2 years ago

Stats not loading

Richard   2 years ago

Worked after my day at Northstar Jan 20 2022. Since then, no stats at all. Looks like Vail broke their own app and can't fix it even after several days. Sign of the times I guess.

Gerald   2 years ago

The app has not been recording stats for the past week and prior stats, for about seven years, have disappeared.

David Cohen   2 years ago

I have not been able to get the App to work .Does not tabulate vertical feet daily, show life time stats .

Sue moore   2 years ago

My app didn't record our stats today at Heavenly. ???????? Who can we call to look into this

Bob   2 years ago

On Dec. 4, 2021, the Epic Mix recorded multiple lifts/vertical at the following times: 10:16(3), 10:27(3), 10:40(2), 11:20(3), 11:34(3), 11:49(3) and 12:00(5). Epic Mix recorded 32 lifts instead of the actual number of 16 lifts and that amount of vertical. If you could adjust my totals accordingly, that would be great 👍 Thank you.
