BEWARE!!

If I could give negative stars, I would! I should have read the reviews prior to downloading and beginning to use PocketPharmacist. Unfortunately I did not and learned the hard way that PocketPharmacist is a Svam to get your personal medical information then immediately FORCE you to pay to proceed forward with accessing, modifying and/or deleting your medical information. In other words, they STEAL your medical info! Within minutes that I finished entering my prescription/medical information and clicked on the check interactions button, a pop up appeared with subscription options with the tagline to “help support a small family-run business”. There was absolutely NO way to close subscription screen or to decline until later, etc… nor was there any way to regain access to your personal medical information that you had already entered. I’m not an attorney, but this cannot be in compliance with HIPAA laws. I never consented to them stealing my personal medical information. I never clicked on an agreement prior to entering my information with the understanding that by doing so, I would be locked out of accessing my information without being forced to subscribe. This is intentional theft of our most personal and confidential medical information disguised as a helpful prescription tool, but is actually a smokescreen so the developers can stea our personal information and sell it on the open market. I’m all for supporting small family businesses, but not this one!!! User BEWARE!!!

Everyone needs this app!

I fell in love with PocketPharmacist as soon as I started using it. This is something I really needed, keeping up with my own meds in addition to those of various family members. Very user friendly.
I’ve only ever had trouble with PocketPharmacist once. It either wouldn’t open, freeze on the main pain and possible a couple of other things, I don’t recall. I received immediate, very responsive attention after I reached out to get this fixed.

One reason I chose PocketPharmacist was because it was free, I don’t pay for apps. If I’m not mistaken, the bugs I mentioned above were not long after this change. I mentioned that I don’t pay for apps but would gladly pay for this one because it truly makes part of my life so much easier & that truly depend upon it but that I would not pay until it was working correctly.

App fixed, working perfectly, happy me, ready to pay.
Then he gives me a free subscription for my troubles! Very happy girl.

I had been using PocketPharmacist a few years before this issue occurred and while I don’t typically leave reviews, I intended to for this because it worked so well for me…I never did. Then, after the instance where I had difficulty, the speed in which my issues were resolved & the friendly response I knew I HAD to leave a review. So approximately six months later here it is.

Long review = Great product

My Favorite App

PocketPharmacist has everything I could want to keep track of meds etc. My wife takes a lot of medicines and when we go to a doctor's office it is so nice to open PocketPharmacist and let the nurse see what she takes, how often and what time. I was disappointed a year ago or so when they stopped the ability to sync the information from one device to another by email because of privacy issues. Lo and behold recent I've found out that now you can sync from one device to another even easier than before. Really really nice. The developer seems to really stay on top of PocketPharmacist keeping it up todate and improving it. I'm on a fixed income but PocketPharmacist is well with the little it costs per year. Kudos to the developer.

High quality

I don’t normally write reviews but I have been using PocketPharmacist for a long time and I use it almost on a daily basis. There are many reviews out there that are upset with the subscription based service now, and I admit when it first popped up I deleted PocketPharmacist and tried to find another. I found many other apps but none had the quality of content and ease of use as this one. I am a paramedic and use PocketPharmacist almost daily for drug interactions and what not with patients. To me the $10 a year is worth it for medical professionals. If you don’t feel like the price is worth it then you should download and use a different lower quality app, as for me I will gladly pay the fee for the quality of information. Keep up the good work.

Outstanding, Comprehensive

I have used many pharmacology books over my years as an RN. PDR, Mosby’s, and others. That was even before cell phones and after. PocketPharmacist RX, I prefer over some Nursing drug handbooks. Obviously, easier than carrying a book, this is very inclusive. I usually go to PocketPharmacist first, then others if needed. The developer is a Pharmacist. Any questions or problems, the developer will reach out to you. Highly recommended. Also some drug apps provide RN specific considerations, and/or teaching materials. This, however gives me personally, all the information I need. Any problems, the developer will reach out fairly quickly. Thank you.

Paywall! None shall pa$$!

I understand and appreciate that developers would like to and should see fruits from their labor. And I for one don’t mind helping. However, to block all access to PocketPharmacist completely and shove everything behind a pay wall is, I believe, an egregious reach. There are positive user experience options such as placing ads within PocketPharmacist and having a monthly payment option to have them removed - which could serve the same ends for the developer receiving profits and without being like the Emerald City doorman in the Wizard of Oz. Same result but less of a grating thing for those who want or need to know something in a pinch. If this was an entertainment app I wouldn’t even leave a review, but the information within could be helpful for someone in need. Thankfully, there are other options in PocketPharmacist Store. If anything changes, I will be back, delete this one star review, and replace it if that is possible.

Must Have App if Taking Multiple Medications

If you take several medications each day, you need PocketPharmacist. It explains side effects and possible interactions with other meds in plain English.

If your doctor has prescribed a new med for you, PocketPharmacist makes it so simple to quickly check for possible interactions with the meds you already take.

I find doctors are getting better at looking up possible interactions before prescribing new meds but they don’t always do so. And doctors can’t possibly know all the possible interactions. Especially if you’re on a lot of medications.

Your pharmacist is supposed to catch interactions and alert you to concerning side effects but they’re often so busy they don’t always alert you to problems unless you ask them. And that won’t happen at all with mail order.

So be safe, take charge of your healthcare and use Pocket Pharmacist.

New Subscription Policies

PocketPharmacist has been great and has lots of very good information. I have had it for many years, but one day I open it to find instead of being able to “restore my purchases” like most other apps that have switched to these kinds of things, I am notified I need to pay a monthly subscription...that’s kind of garbage (and before I get the same reply as others who have left similar reviews, I realize it has been free to access, however, there was an initial purchase price. It has very useful information, and I enjoyed being able to quickly look up something I needed, especially when it came to interactions and safety, but I don’t use it enough to justify paying for a monthly subscription. I hate to say I am deleting PocketPharmacist, but it’s just not worth it.

Amazing app!

Since my stroke, I have a vast number of medications prescribed by doctors. PocketPharmacist has helped me be an informed partner in my health care. It often provides the basis for discussion with my physician -- particularly when prescribing new medications or when I have concerns about side effects.

As others have mentioned, there are plans to change to a subscription model in the future.I believe this fair because PocketPharmacist functions as a pharmacist that you can consult at any time. Medications and information about them is always changing.

MOTHER

PocketPharmacist has been developed for nine years and it still works on older iOS devices the subscription shouldn’t be an issue and if you feel after nine years a pharmacist putting his time developing this is insufficient well maybe it’s best you’ll look elsewhere because you cannot find any more concise app than this. It has helped me through numerous surgeries numerous oncology patients and numerous times where the standard databases have failed me so not only do I suggest and recommend I endorse PocketPharmacist.

The Best!

I have used PocketPharmacist for myself and to help my patients understand their own. It provides more than basic information about a medication. You can easily access interactions between meds, including which medication contributes how much of any side effect. I think PocketPharmacist is a must have for anyone who wants to be knowledgeable about medication they are currently taking or may be taking. Dr. A

Conflicted

PocketPharmacist has been a great reference and resource. And a tremendous amount of energy and effort has gone into updating the features and the database. So, I can see why the developers would want to cash in by transitioning from what used be a free version to a subscription fee-based model. But if you think about who needs this information most: folks with multiple ailments and medications, typically the elderly who have to constantly fight with insurance companies for coverage and medication, do you really want to burden them further by charging a fee for this information? Good luck with your business. Unfortunately I won’t be a customer anymore.

This is a great App and awesome developer.

I have a list of medical issues and therefore an even longer list of meds. PocketPharmacist helps me keep track and find any interactions. A couple of updates ago there was a bug but I reported the issue and the developer was aware of the issues and had a fix within a few days. Nice to know they are on top of it and quick to respond.

Pharmacy Tech

Tech in training and still learning about medications. Super helpful because I don’t know the generics and name brands of a lot of medications as well as all their uses. And I absolutely don’t mind paying $0.99 a month because it’s helping so much and I appreciate the care put into updating PocketPharmacist . Only thing I could as for is a pronunciation guide but I really love PocketPharmacist

Absolutely love this app

I love the convenience of having all my medications and diagnoses listed in one place, as well as a tracker, interactions and side effects. My only suggestion would be to have the option to notate how much of the medication is being taken for that dose, as some medication's directions are 1-2 as needed, for example.

Excellent app

PocketPharmacist is very helpful and contains tons of useful information that will benefit any student and healthcare provider. I would love to see drug images along with the NDC added in the future updates if possible. Also, the yearly subscription is a bit too much for me as a student. Other than that it’s a great app.

Rip off!!!

I bought PocketPharmacist a long time ago. All of a sudden they want you to pay a monthly subscription. That would be ok if your new to PocketPharmacist . I’ve had other apps that decided after I bought them to use monthly subscriptions but because I had already paid for them they left my service alone. Because yeah I’d already bought it. Every app that has switched over has done that except this one. It’s ridiculous that once you’ve paid for something they decide oh it’s not yours now, you have to make monthly payments. I wish there was a no star button!!!

Best investment

This is the best investment I have made for RN school success. I use PocketPharmacist in clinical, for homework, for family meds — There’s drug AND condition info. It is an amazing tool that has replaced at least 3 bulky textbooks. I cannot ever imagine my life without it! I thought I wrote a prior review but saw with the update it was asking for one — I couldn’t leave without saying, “Subscribe to it now!”

A pharmacy Student must-have

PocketPharmacist comes was very handy during my rotations whenever I needed to quickly lookup something. I understand that more features are being added constantly, but adding things like MOAs & basic PK info will make PocketPharmacist even more indispensable!

Nursing Student

I am a nursing student at North Idaho College. Having PocketPharmacist available at hand allows me to access medications, contraindications and side effects readily at hand. This has been a huge help for me while doing my care plans and doing assessments. I will continue to use the RX app long after I get my BSN and is such a valuable tool for nurses.

Pricing Overreach

At what point will developers learn not to price themselves out of business (or in this case, deletion)? From .99 for a paid app, to a subscription-based .99/month or 9.99/year. Out of nowhere, without warning. For an app that I might open up a few times a year. Money grab, much? I’ve read the dev’s responses — pay up per month when you want to use it, then unsubscribe, then subscribe, then unsubscribe, rinse and repeat. No — how about pricing an app according to its usefulness without leaving your customers feeling gouged. The most I would pay to continue using PocketPharmacist is a yearly subscription of 2.99. Anything above that — well, you can take your over-inflated app and consult a proctologist to have it removed.

Best app ever for pharmacist and doctor

As a pharmacist you can’t remember every single you learned from so PocketPharmacist helps when you don’t remember certain stuff it’s so helpful. I use this at work when I want to double check on a drug I’m not too certain about. 99 cents a month you can’t beat that !!!

Extremely easy to use

As a Pharmacist, I’ve found PocketPharmacist to be extremely easy to use, and is my go to source for one-stop shopping for drug information. The drug interaction function is especially helpful, by not only highlighting interactions between drugs, but side effect commonalities as well.

By

Overstuffed

I used it for free for a long time and it was (mostly) very useful. Now that it’s been expanded and upgraded to a purchased app I am finding it to be one of the best pharmacy apps I’ve used. I see patients and enter Med histories and if I don’t know what the med is I can look it up and not have to read a ton of verbiage to get what I need. Priceless.
