I'm going back to Office Depot

Staples is the pits. I tried twice to enter my credit card information, and error messages come up, saying that the CVV number isn't there when it is. Judging from some other comments here, I'm suspecting it's because I chose not to in the settings keep the payment information stored in Staples for future purchasing, but I will not do that, especially for a company like this. I then called up CUSTOMER SERVICE which of course was outsourced to some other country to someone with an accent I could barely understand, and he offers to take the order by phone. After doing so, I asked him why isn't my order in Staples so I can see if it is correct and also get the tracking information because it's coming in a couple of days. He lied to me and says he will tell the technical support people that it's not showing up in Staples along with the other problem of the credit card feature not working. Then I read another comment here saying only this app online orders show up in Staples ! The one I placed over the phone won't even show here, and I need that info in my app so I can remember what I bought and when so I know what I have bought & put in stock, and I only like to use apps to do that! I am not signing into their crappy website to see if there are any orders missing from a long list, that isn't happening!!! When this order arrives, that will be my last one! Goodbye this app!

App Is Missing Basic Functionality

Staples pretty much only works as a price checker or rewards card access at this point.

When logging into your account, if you try to do any account reset options (resetting password, etc), it sends you a confirmation link to your email. That’s fine. But then clicking the link takes you back into Staples …. Which then doesn’t have anything to help you complete the reset process.

There isn’t a visible way to check order status from the account screen in-app. If you click the link in the order confirmation email, it redirects you through to Staples , which again then has no helpful information. I had to delete Staples in order to use the this app website on my phone, which more than defeats the purpose of having Staples .

I like the app

I hate the delivery options, let me explain.

This is like the second or third time I requested something be delivered and it was stolen.

Our building management requested that packages be left at their door. Well because the building is under new management people don’t understand how to gain access ie you need to be super observant to see the door bell because it’s too much like right to put up placard for visitors to ring the doorbell (first mistake).

Next comes the fact that not every delivery person for every single company knows to come to the back of the building which is freight accessible a logistics issues (and the second mistake).

Lastly, there is a standing request that packages are left at the office/concierge/makeshift mailroom in the basement or outside the office if staff is unavailable (third mistake).

My mistakes are: (1) foolishly expecting this app to deliver my package via this app; (2) not waiting to pick up my class supplies because our truck was broke and money’s tight; (3) not waiting for supplies I need because now I have to fight with this app over what I need when it’s going on nearly a month and I have nothing and I’m out of my money.

I’m mad and it’s my fault because I trusted this app/FedEx, etc.

Checkout

I was expecting to see an estimated shipping date prior to completing my checkout but didn't get a date shown until after I completed the payment. Disappointing because I would have possibly chosen another venue had I known I will have to wait 8 days for it to arrive. Also, because the purchase included free shipping if I had been offered to pay for faster shipping service I may have chosen that option instead but there wasn't any. Also disappointing. Perhaps the website is more inclusive of these options but using the smartphone is handier so updating Staples to include more options prior to completing the purchase would be my suggestion.

Good and updated but

this app is a good app it’s updated its clean it’s fresh I found a work around for the log in bug you turn WiFi off and use cellular don’t ask why that works, but I also can’t add my rewards card to apple wallet I had it before but when I tried to uninstall and reinstall all that it still won’t let me add it it says “Rewards” this device doesn’t support apple wallet feature which makes zero sense since I’m on an IPhone X so please fix that bug in the meantime I found a work around using Stocard and adding it to that hitting share and add to wallet it’s not as fluid to get to the card but it’ll do until this bug is fixed

Terrible on line ordering service.

Terrible website and service. I ordered ink cartridges for my Canon MP530 printer. Before finalizing the order I called the local this app store to ensure that I was correctly using the this app App before finalizing my purchase. The this app representative said that I was and so I completed the purchase. In my order I also purchased a copy of Turbo Tax. I then received an email informing me that my order was ready for pickup. However, when I arrived for pickup I was told the only item available was the Turbo Tax and the ink cartridges would not be available until the end of April. With Covid 19 I try not to make any unnecessary trips so to waste my time with Staple is more than frustrating. I will not shop at this app again. If I could give this app a score of zero I would.

Wrong location

When I purchase online to pickup in store, I have to keep changing the location to my home address but every time it automatically reverts back to my work address - even within the same checkout screen. So this doesn’t happen again I guess I need to delete my work info so there is only one address showing. If and when I order something for my company I will enter new info or better yet set up a separate account. I guess the website is not capable of handling more than one address per name.

Zero stars. Absolute garbage

Not able to complete a purchase for pickup, which is literally the point. App keeps wanting a shipping address even though I’ve selected pick up within an hour. Horrible user experience. If you accidentally swipe down you have to re-enter your billing information. Not able to paste email or password into the login fields. Better off using the website, especially since Staples is nothing more than a poor implementation of a wrapper around the website itself. If I could give zero stars I would. Can’t understand how or why Staples is so highly rated when, from my experience, it is absolute garbage. Feels like it was built by an intern.

Low Inventory

this app did not have my ink in store and salesperson said I could order from website.
They did have Canon black ink but not color ink. Waited over a week to send order with color but never had. So order some Hammermill Copy Cover I use for greeting cards, so I would not lose my coupon.
I guess COVID has affected stock too. I do love this app, and used their laser printer for pictures
Which is very reasonable.

The Staples app could be improved

Staples isn’t really that user friendly. I rarely see my rewards on it, and it never shows my 5 picks as a Plus member. I had to log in via my laptop to make the 5 pics and still can’t see them on Staples . My ink rewards show sometimes and not.
Besides that, ordering once you find what you need is easy.

Worst Experience

I went to place an on line order and an old address popped up when I was completing my order. Changed it to my present address but when I completed the order, the original wrong address was assigned to my order. I immediately called customer service and they told me it was already shipped. I told them it was impossible because it was only submitted five minutes earlier. After 30 minutes I was assured it was corrected. The next day it was delivered to the wrong address. When I called to complain I was given the run around and after another 30 minutes, I hung up. Never again!!!

this app may not be able to continue Free Delivery after COVID, but it certainly was an incentive to make me a regular customer. Staples is so simple to use it makes shopping easy. The delivery is outstanding; the products arrive quickly and are packed professionally. this app has been a godsend during the pandemic, where millions of us are forced to work from home.

I shop this store for computers, printers and all office supplies because of exceptional help by store manager: JONATHAN. This individual is extremely professional, helpful, listens to customers and is very bright. He follows up with questions, problems and is good at solutions. Been a loyal customer for over 6 yrs because of this terrific employee. It makes a difference when there is good management and concern for customers satisfaction.

Love Staples

They are a wonderful company and I love Staples . I’m walking through the building I forgot to place my order I had on the computer back in the office so I just pulled out my phone and clicked Staples and placed my order. I didn’t have to walk back to my desk to place the order it was just beautiful without even having to look up anything it was all in my cart already.

Apple Pay doesn’t work

Staples claims to work with Apple Pay, but in reality the transaction never makes it out of “pending” status — compared to in-store use of Apple Pay that gets posted in a day. this app could at least be honest with customers about this bug, but instead the leaves customers in limbo. Need one-hour pickup? Forget about that if using Apple Pay…

Problem with adding coupons

It is not the first time my order has been over a $100 and Staples says invalid coupon showing just one item instead of the total and applying the coupon. It’s best to shop in the store but many times I buy from somewhere else because I don’t have time to deal with Staples problems.

Many errors

When adding items to cart consistently wrong items added. Tried to add specific type of scissors they were changed to a completely different type of scissors. Same thing happened with the printer ink. First time using updated version old version was much more reliable.

Sloppy and unorganized!!!!

If your looking for an app where you can make shopping online quick and painless your in the WRONG place. The categories are so jumbled up that your spend 4x longer looking for anything that you need then you ever should. And searching for a specific product is even worse because the results give you every product available that has any one part of what you searched. I looked up DJ equipment and had microwaves and tv stands in my search results. The apps just like the store itself a joke and a giant waste of time.

Why no copy paste

Staples is crap from the start. Why do developers insist on not allowing cut/copy and paste for passwords. I really want a secure password, which I keep in my secure password vault on my secure phone. However, I can’t paste it into the password field. Unbelievable!!!!! And then, when you try to switch back and forth between Staples and the password vault, Staples clears what you’ve already typed in the password field. It’s just plain stupid to remove copy paste. Something I will never do in my apps.

this app is a well designed application that allows users to easily shop for all products that are offered by the retailer. Staples has a well balanced design on the home menu page where users can browse product categories or view the daily deal or see what items are trending. Users can also or sign in to their account to manage/modify information from the main menu. Users can also perform other activities such as barcode scanning to see if the retailer offers the best price on a certain item and setting up for an online item to be picked up at a store location that is convenient to you.

Apple Pay 👎🏽

I love getting to use Apple Pay 💰 across my devices for a quick and secure check out. However there is a problem with Staples . It kept saying invalid delivery 🚚 📦 address. I’m thinking that maybe it’s because my iPhone is set to French {I am French} and the country name will only list the French name for USA 🇺🇸 as “États-Unis”
Just a theory. Same problem happened when I went on the website on my iPhone with safari and tried Apple Pay 💰 there too. Please fix!
I use an AT&T iPhone X running the latest iOS update. Face ID and Apple wallet are set up and almost always work.

Why Bother!

This is a terrible app. There are orders in my history that are not mine. Staples says I have no rewards, but I do. There's a chat notification symbol but when I click on it says there are technical problems and try again later. You can't EVER try again later and you can't get rid of the notification! Customer Service is useless.
Ok just updated Staples . Still the same issues with chat notification symbol. What did they really do?
Just had another update. Ok chat notice is gone. Now when I hit orders, it just buffers. It says I haven’t recycled any ink cartridges this month but I have. This is still a mess.

Mobile app stinks!

I’m not sure how this gets four stars unless this app is manipulating this by inserting reviews of their own. This mobile app stinks! And their phone customer service isn’t much better. Every time I try to use the mobile app (on an iPhone) it rejects the email and or password and when I try to restore them using Staples it tells me it doesn’t recognize the email yet when I use both the password and the ID on the laptop it works perfectly. And when you call customer service they tell you to try it on a laptop so they are absolutely useless as well.

Difficult to navigate submitted orders

One item in my order was unavailable so I canceled that item and added a similar one, forgetting to mark it as ‘pick up in store’ like the rest of the order. All customer service on the phone could do was cancel the order - but they couldn’t guarantee that it would actually cancel, it might ship anyhow. Going on Staples , the navigation is poor to what has been ordered, what’s ready for pick up, what’s in processing, etc. Turned out to be a frustrating experience.

Hmm?

Said there were two in stock at my store. Made the trip and no one could find them. Doesn’t list where they are stocked like Lowe’s. Manager threw up his hands.

Should list row where items are. And should be sure stock listing is accurate. Other store listed two in stock, so called and they confirmed before making the trip.

The idea of an app is to save time, but the info has to be accurate and the help needs to take all more seriously. That store still says there are two though no one could find them.

Can’t access my acct thru app

I had a this app account for over 10 years. I updated Staples , and that’s where the problems begin. Every time I attempt to login I get some response saying there’s no valid info for the JSON, whatever that means. I tried changing my password & still get the same response. I create a brand new account with a brand new password, still get the same response. Was on hold with customer service for over 10 minutes & no one answered and I got disconnected. Hey this app, wake up, people have other options… You’re going to lose A LOT of business!!

What I need

this app always has what I need and gets it to me when I need it. Ordering via my app is simple and the product shows up at my door when I expect it. Perfect for the home office stuff AND all the household items I don’t have to drag home from the store — paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, etc. Great experience!!

Very, very poor!

I tried to place this order yesterday, 2x today & finally this evening it confirmed the order. I called this afternoon so I wasn’t duplicating the order.
I don’t see a way to ship to store so I added it as a new address and shipped there. Yesterday it said 1 business day, same earlier today. Now it says 2 business days! Will I have it Friday? I live 1.5 hours from the Monona, Wisconsin store so I shipped there.
I need the backup drive ASAP but your ridiculous AP has not worked well at all! I should have bought it or comparable at Walmart!
