Didn't work the way I was hoping

So I got PhotoTransfer because I wanted to transfer some videos from my Google drive to my photos so I could edit them iMovie. The only problem was they wouldn't show up when I went to the folder they were located in. So then I decided I would install the application for my PC and transfer them that way. Turns out that didn't work either so I then assumed that the reason they wouldn't transfer is because the file name extension was wmv. So now at the moment of writing this review I am C meeting these files from wmv to MP4 so I can finally transfer them to my iPhone because the video recordings on my phone are MP4 so I believe that this will finally work because this entire process I have been doing has taken two days and probably going to take a third of this doesn't work. So that is why I am rating PhotoTransfer the three Stars. Please respond to this and tell of any ways I could've avoided the hassle I went through, such as reading the description of PhotoTransfer . If you can prove to me this is an user error and that this is my fault for not paying attention, I will change my review (if I remember that I wrote it) to five Stars.

Thank you for reading

Best system on the market so far, still needs some work.

With multiple previous iPhones full of pictures and my current one slammed full as well, I needed and efficient method of transfer. I purchased an eReader for about $15 that never wanted to work, so paying for the full version of PhotoTransfer was a no brainer. I transferred from a 4, 5s, 5c, and 6, to a flash drive on Windows 8. It struggled some with my mass of pictures and the back up/save & delete feature never worked for me, but overall still performed mostly as advertised. Both apps were easily accessible and communicated well with each other. My main complaint is that use of PhotoTransfer is locked to one specific Apple ID instead of a log-in based system. I have used and created several IDs over the years but can not use PhotoTransfer I paid for to transfer from those. The ability to provide proof of paid full access and use on other devices would have bumped me to 5 stars, even with the issues I ran into. (Considering it could've been user error, of course.)
Overall satisfied and would (and have) recommend.

Works great for me

I have found PhotoTransfer to work very well. I’m downloading from an iPhone xs onto a Microsoft computer. I have my phone plugged into the computer USB through which the transfer is done. You can also transfer by Wi-Fi but I have not used this feature.

You have to open up the Transfer app on the iPhone and also open up the application on the computer. Once they are both open and you select your iPhone it shows the first 100 photos in whatever folder you’ve select from the program running on the computer. Rather than it’s attempting to download your entire photo video library from your iPhone or other device, it downloads them in a lock of 100 at a time. There is a drop-down that allows you to select groups I’m files in intervals of 100.

It will let you upload to the iPhone or download from the iPhone phots and video. It’s very quick for me, although that could be a function of Internet connection I suppose. It also gives you the option to delete the photos from your iPhone, and iPhone pops up a message to confirm before deleting.

It allows you to see 99 items at a time. I’d give this five stars except that, after you download a block of 100 photos it then returns you to the first photo in the folder. I’d much rather have it return me to the next block of 100 images so that I can continue my downloading rather than my having to navigate back to that particular block of photos.

Overall it works really well and I would highly recommend it.

I came back just to write a review

I was looking for something that would transfer my pictures from my iPhone to my home computer because I could not seem to get windows to do it correctly...
it has taken a little finagling to get where I want but PhotoTransfer works wonderful, download both phone and computer software, make sure BOTH devices are on the same WiFi network, open both computer software and phone software... click discover devices and pick your phone... it then lists all your pictures... and click and transfer... my phone is iPhone 8 so the files are HEIC files.. so I downloaded a conversion app on my windows PC and convert them to JPG and can use them for eBay or whatever I want... you can also delete from your phone after downloading... thanks guys... and YES I paid the $6.99 for PhotoTransfer considering what it does to be worth it...
Thanks

The more I use it, the more I like it

[Here it is 2019 and I’m still happily using PhotoTransfer. The latest spectacular find is this: On the road I transfer RAW photos from my cameras to an iPad. If I use iCloud to later move them to my desktop PC, Apple first converts them to JPEGs. PhotoTransfer, however, down loads the RAW file. Bravo!]

[Update for latest v 5.0 - new feature to allow deleting photos on iPhone and iPad makes PhotoTransfer spectacular!]

I hardly ever give five stars to anything. As said in my title, the more I use PhotoTransfer the more I like it. I transfer to-and-from a PC running Win7 Pro using the Photo Transfer App for PCs. It's seamless. It even backs up single or multiple folders to the PC.

It does such a good job of looking inside iPad photo folders, that I wish it could act as a file manager so I could delete garbage photos that have accumulate easily from my desktop. [WISH LIST!]
....
Since my previous review (above) I still can't find anything wrong. How often can u say that in life?
.....
PhotoTransfer keeps asking me to rate (which is getting annoying). This is still one of the best apps of any kind on my iPhone and iPad. It's the only 5 star I've given. (6/14)

Photo Transfer App

I downloaded PhotoTransfer to transfer pics from my iPhone 11 to my PC via lightning cable. We have very slow internet/wifi where we live. Most Apps like to use Wifi to transfer photos so I was glad to see an App that lets you use a cable to transfer. PhotoTransfer does work and it’s interface is user friendly. It has limitations that are worth sharing. You can only download 400 pics/vids at one time. For someone that has thousands of pics on my phone this is time consuming. The other problem I ran into at least with my setup is that once you download 400 pics and try to download more, PhotoTransfer hangs up (error message) and you have to close out everything and reopen. I submitted this problem to the Developer hoping they address this “major issue”. I would give it five stars if you could download more than 400 pics at one time and if PhotoTransfer wouldn’t time out once you download more than 400 pics. For an App that costs money, I believe these two issues should be addressed!

Soooo Frustrating!!

This could have been an amazing app. There were several things I liked about it. But there is nothing more irritating than attempting to use an app and get a feel for it when it is constantly hounding you to purchase the upgraded version! I haven’t even completed a single transfer and the pop-ups begin informing me of all of the features I cannot use unless I purchase their Pro version!! And as I continued to use PhotoTransfer the pestering got more frequent and more frustrating! I make it a point to NEVER spend a dime on any app that doesn’t allow me to use their product without attempting to pressure me into giving them my money. Just build a product WORTH paying for and allow people to get used to your app before even asking them to upgrade! Keep your app. There are many more that do the same thing for free. I am happy to use one of those! And if they have a good product and don’t try to force me into an upgrade, then those are the ones who are much more likely to get my money!

Makes IOS to PC Transfer Painless

For years I’ve been using Windows “Import” facility to get photos & videos from IOS devices. As storage on IOS devices has grown this has gotten more precarious. Often there is a glitch in the USB connection. Then there is bother of connecting cables.
PhotoTransfer solves all those problems. It provides a wireless or cable connection and provides a really nice GUI with lots off options. The transfer works flawlessly; EXIF metadata is preserved.
After trying out the free version, i found it worthwhile to upgrade to the full version.
BTW, the transfer is bi-directional.
I’m very satisfied with my purchase.

OH MY GGGGGG, 2 days of trying to transfer!!!

So I never leave reviews. But I am going to for PhotoTransfer. I am *extremely* frustrated because PhotoTransfer is continuously freezing, and unable to transfer pics and videos from my iPhone to my computer. I have literally been working for two days straight to try to transfer. I have repeatedly unplugged/reset/prayed and wished upon a Star for a magical answer to simply transfer my photos and videos, without PhotoTransfer crashing or freezing. I am on day two (literally over 14 hours into this now) and I am ready to pull my hair out because this is SO flipping frustrating!!!!!!!!

Great app, only WHEN or IF it decides to work. When it’s not working every other 5 mins or so, it’s the worst app ever. Take your pick, and if you do download it, you better have the patience of a saint to deal with this seriously glitchy app. 🥺

Best App for this use!!!

My reply.
I don’t run beta software on my only working and work-related Mac.
Get out that USB support for Macs ASAP and my app rating will return to 5 stars.
I have been waiting for your team to release USB connectivity support for PhotoTransfer for many years, now!
Now that you have this, PC users get this right away and we Mac users STILL have to wait!

Update review for this new update.
Mac users have to wait for wired USB transfer connectivity.
You chose PC community to get this USB feature before Mac users?
Not cool!
You just lost one star for not having this USB connectivity for both platforms together.
I might put the star back when Mac USB connectivity finally arrives, whenever “later this year” is.
But, then again...

This is the only photo transfer app that I use for a long time because it is the only photo transfer app that has ever consistently worked!
PhotoTransfer is great at what it does and the developers keep making it better!!!
Forget the also rans and use PhotoTransfer for easy back and forth transfers of photos and videos between your IOS devices and your computer.

Reliable way to transfer photos

I have struggled for years to transfer and store photos with iCloud. Sometimes it seems to work. Most times it doesn’t. When it did work, the transfer was slow. Transfer worked immediately to transfer photos from my iPhone to my Windows desktop where I prefer to organize and process my photos. Transfer is also fast. The only downside is that I have to manually open and run the program on both devices simultaneously. It is not automatic. But, then again, I was unable to even get iCloud to run manually. Reliability wins the day for me.

Outstanding app

Why do I need PhotoTransfer when I can just upload photos to Dropbox from my phone? Because I take a lot of pictures and don't want to wait forever for them to upload! I can transfer 50 photos in well under a minute- videos take a bit longer but are still quick to transfer. Just be sure your computer and phone are on same vwifi network - took me a while to figure out why PhotoTransfer had suddenly quit working when my hubby set up a second network and I didn't realize that was the one my phone was using.
Just get thisyou'll be glad you did!

Made it all work!

PhotoTransfer saved my marriage! We got new iPhone 11’s, and we could not transfer pictures properly from the phone to our PC. We tried all the troubleshooting suggestions from Apple and Microsoft. Nothing worked. Only a few, if any pictures would transfer at a time.

I found PhotoTransfer. It worked! It worked the first time and every time since. All our pictures now get transferred to the PC regularly and backed up. If you’ve been beating your head against the wall dealing with slow or non existent transfers, get PhotoTransfer!

Don’t waste your money

I’ve used PhotoTransfer for well over six years. It worked well when it was free, but recently I tried to use it the way I always had, and I was told I would have to upgrade to the “Pro” version for $6.99. Because I already knew how it worked, and it had worked well, I paid for the upgrade. It didn’t work. IT HAS NEVER WORKED. Messages from the developer gave me increasingly convoluted paths to using PhotoTransfer , and still nothing worked. Finally, I asked for my money back, and was told they can’t do that; only Apple can do that. Apple said they couldn’t refund my money because I’d gone beyond the 60-day period for such things. I pointed out that I had worked in good faith with the developer, and that PhotoTransfer had never, not once, worked for me. They shrugged. I’ve lost my money.

I generally don’t rate apps, but ....

This is an awesome app. If you’re tired of emailing important pics to yourself, worried about loosing pics on your portable device, PhotoTransfer is the one that I’ve found to be the easiest, most straight forward, and does it with ease.

I have around 8k pics on my iPhone and I really want on a device that I can’t drop in a storm drain. I can move massive photo’s each evening to a NAS, or various other places like Dropbox, etc. while I sleep. Optionally I can purge them from my portable device.

Easy & functional. Good job developers.

Great photo transfer app! Recommend 100%

I’ve been using PhotoTransfer for a year now. I use it to transfer pictures from my IPad Pro to my pc and my droid to my pc.

I purchased the pro app and I think it’s great. I download 100 pictures at a time. It’s fast, easy, and I don’t have problems. I can connect by WiFi or usb. Both have worked great for me. I think it’s so stupid Apple doesn’t give you a way to get your pictures unless you own a Mac. If you don’t own a Mac, this software is your answer. I highly recommend it.

Did what I needed!

I was in a situation where I had synced some pictures on my old iPad with iTunes on my old PC. The old PC hard drive died and I was unable to transfer those pictures to my new iPad, or anywhere else for that matter, from my old iPad. Apple Support said I would need to look into 3rd party software. I found this program and was easily able to transfer the photos to the new iPad and maintain the album organization easy enough. Transfer speed was very fast with WiFi.

Overall Fair, But Crashes Repeatedly

Basically works, but only allows 400-file “pages” to be copied at a time, forcing multiple operations to download a heavily used phone (4000+ images). The big annoyance is that PhotoTransfer often crashes, forcing a restart of the entire current 400-file page since there’s no way to tell where it crashed; PhotoTransfer just vanishes from the iPad display and must be restarted. Each page might take 2 to 5 restarts, taking time while PhotoTransfer figures out file-by-file what has already been copied. Been sitting here for hours trying to copy my iPad images to a Windows PC.

Best App to Import to PC

PhotoTransfer is a fantastic one to import photos from my iPhone to PC and external hard drive, and it is worth its price in terms of quality of software and result of transfers. It’s easy to use wirelessly and it allows the option to save to files to computer directories and keep original and edited versions of images as well (great features).

Three cons:
- the largest amount of photos I can reliably transfer is 400 at a time
- images can be converted to JPEG and transferred or transferred as HEIC, but there is no option to do both.
- after the third or fourth transfer, I have to close and re-open the software on both my PC and iPhone or else I get an error message halfway through the following transfer

5 star app as it is, but addressing the points above will make PhotoTransfer unbeatable.

BLH

Have spent many hours looking and trying many transfer apps, and haven’t found anything that is close to PhotoTransfer. It’s the easiest and best app to use for transferring photos and videos. Does exactly what it claims and is FREE. Do not have to upgrade to be able to transfer more photos or videos. However, there is an upgrade that is a choice for more options. But, the free part has no limits like all the others!

Can Transfer Albums from iPhone!

I had an album full of photos of my kiddos playing soccer that I needed to download to my PC. Who knew that would be so difficult! Couldn’t find a way to do it via my phone, iCloud, iTunes, etc., so thank goodness for PhotoTransfer. I can select any album off my phone to easily transfer photos to my laptop via WiFi or USB. I don’t think I’ve ever reviewed an app before, but I had to give this one 5-stars because it really was a life saver!

Transfer photo and video without Airdrop

Airdrop does not work with a few of my computers. PhotoTransfer solves the problem for me. The interface is pleasing and intuitive and speed at which both photo and videos transfer. PhotoTransfer has skyrocketed to my loved app list.

How exactly does it work, for example on a 2010 Mac Pro sending from an iPhone 6splus? First connect the phone and computer via Bluetooth. You download PhotoTransfer to both your phone and computer. Launch PhotoTransfer on your computer and on iPhone. The computer app will ask you to find device. Once it does you can do things such as upload files from your computer to phone, from phone to computer, delete files, etc.

PhotoTransfer is useful since I do not use iCloud.

I am glad to have it!

Two thumbs up to the developers.

Phenomenal App

I have nearly 12,000 pictures synced between iPhone and computer. All categorized in folders on PC. Prior to using PhotoTransfer, it was a GIANT pain to download new photos from camera roll and onto computer. iPhone doesn’t do well with drag and drop folder operations. With PhotoTransfer however, it’s easy to put new photos in camera roll onto computer into appropriate folders. And the phone doesn’t need to be connected with cable to do it.
