ecobee Smart Thermostat Reviews

This worked great when we first installed it. It's the only one that works with a whole-house humidifier.

However, ecobeeSmartThermostat hasn't been working for a couple of weeks now. The actual thermostat no longer functions properly either. When changing temperature, ecobeeSmartThermostat and thermostat will slide to change temp, but pop right back where it was. For instance, if current temp is 72 and I try to change to 68, I can slide the control, but when I take my finger off, it pops right back to 72. Up or down, no matter what the attempted change, just does not work anymore.

Doesn't work 99% of the time!

Called for support, service updated, but still doesn't work. Tried hard restart on phone for app, tried deleting and reinstalling ecobeeSmartThermostat -- doesn't work!

ecobeeSmartThermostat needs an update for ios 8.

No portrait view almost impossible to manage more than 1 AC. Ugly UX

My comments may not be of general interest; I'm totally blind, hence use the voice over feature available in iOS.

Using ecobeeSmartThermostat, it was impossible to make any adjustments. I wrote Ecobee tech support and they made it clear and no uncertain terms that they couldn't care less!

I should mention, that my mother, though elderly can see perfectly well, but she had trouble figuring out how to make I just mints to the thermostatthis using ecobeeSmartThermostat also..

Needless to say, I exchanged the ecobee for a honeywell and both my mother and I are easily able to adjust all settings using Honeywells iPhone app.

ecobeeSmartThermostat does not help ecobee sell thermostats...in all honesty it probably hurts sales. Lets hope we get a full featured iOS 8 compatible app soon...for all ecobee legacy thermostats...and not just something new for those who upgrade to ecobee 3.

I'm glad to have the exobee thermostat, as it was the only remote control tstat that would operated my complex system ..... but jeeze guys!! If you can make a great tstat, can ecobeeSmartThermostat to control it be ao tough? ecobeeSmartThermostat stinks. It locks up. I can change temp, but app remains at same temp as before. But most times it just doesnt work at all. Please update ecobeeSmartThermostat!!

We need an update...iOS 8 doesn't function properly!! Loved it up until that happened!

The temperature jumps back to the original setting when adjusting from iPhone 4S. Very frustrating!!!!

Useful to turn on heat on the drive home, or to check current house temperature. Would be nice to be able to change the schedule, which would look great especially in a much needed iPad version.

I was thrilled to finally see the release of ecobeeSmartThermostat. I have downloaded it and it works well and feels just like the thermostat interface. However, the programming and settings function are not available which makes the utility of this application very limited for our application.
To elaborate, we like to turn up the heat at our Lake house on the trip up just before we lose cell reception in the mountains. Because we frequently have guests at the house we must have the thermostat set to revert to programmed temperatures at every program transition (wake, home, asleep, etc) to prevent large heating bills/freezing possibility. This means if we turn up the thermostat just before we lose cell reception, if it coincides with a programmed temperature change it will override our change and we may arrive to a cold house. Having access to the programming/settings would enable us to change the temperature on any given trip and ensure that it stays that temperature until we arrive. I await version 2.0 with these functions!

ecobeeSmartThermostat is missing a control to operate the ventilator feature of the thermostat. So if we are away for a extended time we can't refresh the sir in the house. Otherwise a good app.

App isn't working with the wall unit ... Very inconvenient for a paraplegic!

Like ecobeeSmartThermostat , however the latest rev continually crashes back to the login screen. Full disclosure: I (still) have an iPhone 3S. I'll give it 3 stars anyway, because other than that, it's pretty good.

Works great functionally, however I have 2 thermostats and the fan/cool/heat status icons do not seem to appear when controlling one of them so cannot tell if the fan/cool/or heat is actually on. Works fine on the other thermostat.

I use ecobeeSmartThermostat on my iPhone to control my Ecobee smart thermostat - which is cool. I think Ecobee should have adopted the iOS style interface instead of copying the interface from the actual thermostat (thus forcing landscape only operation). When in portrait switch up the UI! I also don't understand why an iPad version is missing, perhaps they just don't have the staff to support it yet. Overall it works well and I can control my thermostat from anywhere hence 4 stars instead of 3. Add portrait + cool stuff on iPad and get 5 stars.

The ecobee provides several conveniences and money saving options. It's been working great for us. As someone who works from a home office, my schedule changes daily. This gives me the convenience of adjusting the thermostat for days I'm on the road and for days I'm in the office all day. There are several limitations to ecobeeSmartThermostat that I think could be improved upon (which is why I gave it four stars). It would be nice to change the program schedule through ecobeeSmartThermostat . Other than that, great device.

I have 7 of these units -4 for my office and 3 at home. Reliability is the primary reason for using ecobee versus other products such as Honeywell and others. Easy, intuitive interface and works perfect every time.

If you have the Ecobee thermostat you need ecobeeSmartThermostat! Much easier than punching buttons on the wall, makes standing in front of the actual thermostat obsolete. Controls every function, very intuitive.

This is an update on my earlier one-star review.
After much troubleshooting end at my end for the install of the thermostat I finally received a replacement unit from Ecobee and the installation this time worked without any problems.
ecobeeSmartThermostat works well for me, in particular after changing the "Hold Action" setting in the online settings to "Ask Me" - this makes setting the hold temp with app much easier when away for either a few hours or until the next weekend.
ecobeeSmartThermostat still seems to have the flaw that when the thermostat has no online connection, it keeps displaying the last known temperature. It does not indicate that the thermostat is off-line. So you think everything is okay, when in fact something can be wrong. I hope that this will be fixed with the next Ecobee app release, as the online report does show the status properly as connected or disconnected.
