Nope. Doesn’t work

2024-08-04

Maybe it’s my phone. Maybe an iPhone X just isn’t dumb enough to think that a stud finer would work on it. I downloaded this because the battery in my stud finder died and I didn’t have a spare. Even after doing the “calibration” as the instructions stated it wouldn’t work even when placed directly on a stud. Such a waste of time. Don’t bother and don’t be duped into thinking a phone will work as a stud finder. It doesn’t have the technology to function as such.

Not user friendly at all!

2024-01-21

I am a middle-aged collegiate, however, could not comprehend how to utilize this application. Like any sensible adult, I read the instructions and followed it step by step - not once, not twice, but thrice with no success. I put numerous holes in my wall before giving up and called my brother who was (ironically enough) in construction.

He looked at StudFind first in bemusement, tried using it as well for fun then chuckled. I was admittedly abashed in my admittance in wanting to install a simple towel rack on my own. (One that required adherence to studs). Sigh. 😳😒

Don't download StudFind if you do need to find actual studs, however, for amusement and lost time- holes on your walls- yolo.

Does find metal objects, screws or nails

2024-07-26

I needed help finding studs while putting up a cabinet in the bathroom. When you pass the phone along the wall it will identify any metal objects using the iPhone's magnetometer close to the surface. I believe all iPhones have one which is also used when you use your compass app. I suggest that you test a real object to see where the sensor is on your phone which is approximately toward the upper half of the back of the phone. The sensor is sensitive and my be slightly off a half and inch or so off, so move it around to identify where the real peck is. As you identify objects, mark them with a pencil and see if they form aligned with any others. These are most likely the screws in the studs. Draw a straight line vertically and this should identify the stud. One area that I thought was the peak wound up not having a stud but moved the hole over a couple inches the the left and it worked.

Didn't find any studs :/

2024-04-22

I don't know if it's the material of the nails in my wall, but I was unable to find any studs. I'm giving it 4 stars because it does find magnetic objects (I put it next to my fridge and a pile of metal objects and it detected them). But in terms of usefulness for finding studs, I can't give it the full 5 stars.

Thought I’d test

Me and my wife just bought a new house. On top of that, we plan to have all of the TVs mounted on the walls. StudFind not only picked up metal studs, but wiring as well. After about 3 hours of testing room to room in the current house, StudFind has built my trust to find the studs (and wiring) in the new house! You’re a fool not to download this! I’m very excited about tomorrow to take my phone to the new house and begin to place my markings for brackets. Job well done creators!

Stud finder true Review

2024-07-19

I have the 6s Plus. I'm not sure if the model makes a difference. I was skeptical at first. Not sure it would work. Begin to place my phone against the wall and motion around the whole wall and the "intensity" went high and the chime sounded. I got excited. Clicked on the info button and it told me to calibrate it so I did. I started making a rectangle about the size of the iPhone in the spots it chimed. I went vertical on the wall from the places it chimed and boom! It started hitting. After about 15 circles, I measured and they are all spread 16 inches apart! I'm shocked and amazed. Amazing app, I thank Jesus for giving the developer wisdom and may he be blessed in prosper in the work of his hands. God bless you.

Found it!

My dad was in my new apartment putting up my very heavy TV and forgot his stuff finder. Given that it was literally falling out of the wall at my last apartment I we anted to make sure to find a stud. I thought there had to be an app for this since I just used an app to measure the apartment the day before. Light bulb! StudFind was the answer to all my priblems! Get it, use it, love it!

Accurate Stud Finder

2024-07-19

This is a great alternative to going out and spending money on a stud finder. During my project I ended up checking it with a real stud finder and it ended up being very accurate. StudFind is by far better than the other ones on StudFind Store because the ads are less frequent and disruptive! It’s easy to use and I highly recommend.

It actually works!

2024-07-19

We were trying to find a stud in the wall and we were taking about how we should just invest in a stud finder. Jokingly I said “there should be an app for that” and just out of curiosity I ended up downloading this one. It ACTUALLY worked! I never in a million years would have believed it would work but it did 100%. Awesome app!

Works great

2024-07-19

StudFind works great on my 6S Plus. I was easily able to locate 3 consecutive studs in a wall while hanging a shelf. It should be noted that because this uses magnetism, you may want to try passes at different heights, so that you pass over nails in each stud.

I really appreciate what the developer has done here, particularly with a free app. It really helped be out. Thanks

Works (with tweaks)

2024-07-19

As several reviewers have stated in their reviews, it detects metal, not the stud itself. Used it (quite skeptically at first) to locate a stud to hang my son's Xbox TV. Amazingly, it worked like a charm!

You need to start by making wide sweeps of the wall at different heights. Once you've located where the nails are routinely nailed, start sweeping left and right to locate the stud.

Found the Stud

2024-07-27

Needed to find a stud to hang a heavy picture. Was lucky to quickly find a nail to identify a stud. In few minutes I had the picture hanging securely on the wall. You may have to explore up and down to find a nail.

It really works

2024-07-19

I was skeptical but downloaded this because it was free. I had used the old “shine a flash light at an angle” trick and approximately found the beams. Used StudFind and found metal at those exact spots to confirm! The intensity went from 39 everywhere else up to 81 at the spot. It did the same for the next beam I had identified. Cool :)

Best free stud finder

2024-06-13

This thing actually works!!!! I was skeptical about it but it became a success story once I tried it. Test it out with your phone on objects first then try it on the wall, you will be impressed. You need patience to find the stud though it took me 3min at most.

🤯

Having trouble finding a stud the old fashioned way, (knocking on the wall) and many holes later, I thought it’d be a shot in the dark looking in StudFind Store for a stud finder. Much to my surprise I found this! I am in awe of how accurate this is. I have told everyone of my new found tool! Awesome job!!!

Mounted my TV

2024-07-19

Great app, using an iPhone 5s, magnet is in the top right corner of my phone, right under the camera lens. Found the nails in the wall, measured 16 inches across(typically how far studs are from each other) found more nails. Started drilling through the drywall and sawdust came out. TV is up now, looks awesome. Thank you for such an ingenious app.

Worked as advertised

2024-07-19

StudFind was pretty easy to use and the instructions / description on StudFind Store were very clear about how this is actually useful. It took a minute or two to probe my wall but I was able to narrow down where the stud was pretty precisely. In the end, I found my stud.

Helped me in a bind

2024-06-16

I misplaced my stud finder and began tapping the walls t find studs for hanging shelves in my shop. The tenant on the other side of the wall came over to see what I was doing and suggested I look for an ap. Apprehensive, I checked StudFind Store and sure enough, I found StudFind. How can an iPhone locate studs? I haven’t a clue, but it worked like a champ, and I was checking for them on a fire wall, commercial thickness sheet rock! My stand alone stud finder from Lowe’s even has trouble with those. I didn’t read all the reviews, but whoever gave it less than five stars either didn’t use it right or was ticked that it has pop up ads. It works fine and it’s always with me. Oh, and I received a phone call whilst using it; my other stud finder can’t do that!

You might doubt me but it really works

2024-07-27

I have tried using StudFind on most of my household items. It can detect metals 100%. I have to admit that it is a little tricky as to what part of your phone you have to use to make it work. However, I have figured it out. That's sweet spot is at the center of your phone right below your lens and next to the power button. I figured it out by using a pair of scissors and using only the point of entry point to the phone to see where the sweet spot is. I still can't figure out how StudFind actually works or maybe the phone really has a magnet. I also noticed that it doesn't work on any metal. It works on metals that can actually be magnetized. I tried it on my father stainless steel watch at detected nothing. However, when I tried it on the refrigerator or the oven it works hundred percent. It is very nice keep up the good work. Maybe at some point in the future you can add more features to it.

Total life saver!

After many weeks of planning, my boyfriend end and I were finally putting shelves on my walls. We started drilling before thinking about studs. We ended up hitting one and (obviously) not being able to hang the shelves. Before I was able to really be upset out about it, my boyfriend thought to download StudFind to help with our project instead of going out and buying an actual stud finder. After playing around with it, i feel confident in saying StudFind really does works!!!!

I have an iPhone 8, and I believe the phone starts detecting metal right at the center of the phone (where the Apple is). The trick is to start from one extreme of the wall and move SLOWLY to the other. The meter will detect the beginning of a stud when it reads 60, rise in numbers, and detect the other edge of the stud when it goes back down to 60. The length between the two 60’s should be either 4 or 6 inches, since that’s how wide studs usually are. In other words, if you’re marking the beginning and the end of a stud, mark when the detector reads 60 once and then again. FYI, studs are places 16 inches apart from each other.

Legit 👍

StudFind says if you're using an iphone 5s or below, to slide the right side of the phone against the wall to get a more accurate spot for where the studs are. This worked for me, I was wanting to know where the studs were so I can put up a shelf that'd be holding a bit of weight. It beeps when you've found one.

Features

For this app to work, the nails in your wall should be magnetic and your device (iPad, iPhone or iPod) should have a built-in magnetometer.

To accurately detect nails using this app, on iPhone 5s and below, sweep with the right edge of the device against the wall.

Use your iPhone to find nails in wooden support beams within your wall, or any sort of magnetic metal hidden from view.

Sometimes it helps to first figure out the location of the magnet (compass magnet) on your phone using a magnetic material so it becomes clear where to "mark" when you find a nail in the stud.

DISCLAIMER: The performance of the app is limited by the construction of the wall, presence of a phone cover and/or the material of the nails in the studs.

For iPhone 6 and above, sweep with the top edge of the device along the wall.

Calibrate your device’s magnetic sensor by moving the device in a "Figure 8" pattern.

If your device has a external case, please remove before using this app.

This app does not detect non-magnetic objects, For example, aluminum or wood studs.

Then tap the "Intensity" reading displayed on the app to set the baseline to zero.
