Merlin: Find Jobs & Work Reviews

Merlin is horrible! It’s constantly sending me notifications and messages for jobs that have nothing to do with me and there’s no option to change your notifications for what you’re interested in. It also prompts you to apply to a bunch of jobs at once the second you open Merlin , and “applies” without even asking about cover letters, and when I first downloaded Merlin it “applied” to some without a resume. I guess it just sends them my profile? But I still think that is unprofessional. It’s so easy to accidentally apply to jobs, too. I was excited to use Merlin due to the numerous positive reviews I read but it sure seems like I’m using a totally different app than what’s being praised here.

UPDATE AFTER THEIR RESPONSE: My problem with Merlin is NOT because I did not find employment on it. That’s the only thing this app addresses in response to this review. I said Merlin is so irritating sending so many unwanted and irrelevant messages to me. And not showing me the jobs I ACTUALLY clicked “apply” to in my applied section, and in screening section is a whole bunch of the jobs I did not apply to and have no interest in. There are no settings to remove those jobs from the section, no options to delete the messages from employers I am not interested in, no option to change the settings for the types of jobs that I want to be contacted by, ***those are the reasons for the poor review***.

Endorsements are everything! Get as much as you can as it will help boost your visibility to employers. I was unfairly let go from my previous job and instead of fighting it decided to move in because I was already planning to leave because there wasn't much job security. Less than 7 days later I got interviewed for an amazing company that was only 15mins away from me, paid me double including commission and bonuses and the staff and office had amazing energy! I am super excited to start my new journey and it's all because of this app! Thank you so much.

It seemed good at first, but on our first day using Merlin , the system glitched and was sending me hundreds of duplicate notifications and suggestions of people that we had no interest in. I have it a try for a few weeks, and found that while easy, there were no quality candidates using Merlin . They then released a new feature, that to make it short, gitched and started sending out job offers to anyone and everyone on my behalf. I then spent a week trying to get a hold of support, notified them of the glitch, and rather than pausing the new feature, they let the glitch continue for another week before resolving the issue. The concept of Merlin is great, but I lost all faith and trust in the company. The support team completely understood why, but did nothing to regain my confidence. Even after 3 job postings, we had no luck and I finally had to remove my organization from their system.

Just as this title says, my partner is disabled with a hidden disability that make it impossible to stay on her feet for long periods of time. Trying to find a job using other sites wasn’t working, and she had been unemployed for about a year. I suggested this app to her after coming back to it after the overhaul you guys did, and she got a decent job within the week. It’s less impersonal and things move much faster with your app and we can’t thank you guys enough. We appreciate what you do. :)

Upon downloading Merlin at the great recommendation of a friend, first impressions were pretty cool. The idea of speaking directly to employers via a chat is a fantastic idea for people who cannot handle the pressure of phone calls. However that’s it. That’s all the good Merlin has to offer. There’s not an efficient way to tailor your distance so you could be living in maspeth or corona and you’ll find an overwhelming number of offers from New Jersey. Often times, I believe the creators of Merlin are the ones replying on behalf of employers because messages are the same robotic ‘Hi, Do you have the skills for this position? Let me know! Talk soon.’ And replies often go unread. Also, there’s the instance of automatically applying to jobs like what??? That’s unprofessional as hell and that crosses some major boundaries. Work out the major bugs of Merlin , Then release it.

Okay so I downloaded Merlin at 3AM because I was suffering from "What is my life" sleep deprivation while scrolling through my Instagram feed. I started to use Merlin and it's really simple, you can apply to a job with one tap, and chat with the owner at any time. Super easy and super user friendly. Thanks to this app I have my first interview within just one day of using Merlin ! Wish me luck!

I downloaded Merlin because I was curious about the ‘find a job in a few days’ claim as I’ve been job hunting for weeks now. I got an interview off Merlin in one day and was ecstatic, but there’s an issue. The employer was part of a pyramid scheme company (think It Works or Vector) called Atlantic Energy/Next Level Solutions, and I was only one of four people interviewed. I realized right away it wasn’t a real opportunity but rather a scam, however the other applicants didn’t catch on to that. I’m by no means saying this app is a bad app, it did what it was supposed to, but if there could be some employer verification factored in to make sure that the employment opportunities are solid, that would be great.

I hope the developers who have jobs already are more sensitive to those searching and can't find work. Here is an excerpt of an email I sent them......

" the "unfortunately" notifications that pop up should be eliminated from notifications all together. When you job hunt and seeing a rejection like that in a notification can be discouraging and depressing.
Also encouraging someone to chat with a potential employer, I did this and no one responded. Kinda discouraging too....

I deleted Merlin .

It made me more depressed than I originally started out, job hunting is hard esp when you are getting no call backs, it makes you look at yourself and question if you are good enough or not good enough. It's so bad for the self esteem all together, I don't need an app to remind me of the rejection, also who came up with the idea of endorsements? Will this app endorse me?!!! Who in life gets endorsed when they are job hunting???! Employers only want to see your resume and maybe your photo....
ugh.... I want my time back that I wasted on Merlin.

Merlin applies to jobs on your behalf and it does not ask if you would be interested in those jobs to begin with. It is very frustrating. Also, I think Merlin has robots that pose as hiring managers and ask the same generic questions. The worst part is that you’re able to see the last time a hiring manager was online. Sometimes the person was online 7 days ago, yet you receive a message from them (2 days ago) asking about your qualifications. How? If they didn’t come online how can they ask. Extremely robotic. I’m not sure it’s worth the time to download Merlin.

I’ve been on Merlin for months applying to jobs and I only got 2 hits and they were so suspicious. One job said they paid you by putting money on a debit card and the other job was listed on this app under a different name. When I asked them why are they under a different name, they said don’t worry about it the 2 companies are working together. You’re telling me that a company that specializes in window tints and a company that specializes in rheumatoid arthritis is working together? That sounds ridiculously suspicious. If the company hits you up too quickly and want to hire you on the spot it’s most likely a job scammer. this app really should check the employers that they allow to post on their app.

we tried really tried hard with Merlin and company! while app seems working fine sync with their data is bad not poor. overall company have issues for example we received 286 spam messages, emails from applicant that we blocked. not to mention a fact that applicants while we treat with 100% respect they have freedom to bash unexpectedly and unruly anyhow to the job posters. we cannot have ANY APPLICANT to under our umbrella with attitude bit here this portal allow anarchy and not freedom. company response is very poor 48h to initially respond and basically that means dead end. so yeah maybe we did not have best experience but we had brutal and unpleasant instead. AVOID - this is not worth trying.

I love Merlin . I really like the geo-filter because you can put your address and get candidates that live close by or you can do the city you live in, or even the whole state. The search bar is amazing because I know that I’m always able to search for anyone with certain qualifications that I need and not have to filter through a bunch of other candidates.

Not sure if Merlin is legit but after signing up and applying to just one job, the very next day I received multiple text messages from multiple different numbers, one number texted me telling me to meet them in a park for $700! What the heck!!! Another sent me a suspicious link. Another telling me my resume has been sent to the head department of this app which I did NOT ask for or agree to have my personal information sent anywhere other than the ONE job I applied to. I am uncomfortable using Merlin and will hopefully can remove all of my information off of here completely. Super creepy!

Merlin is truly great, i get to see everything required for the jobs i’m applying to and uploads my resume perfectly. I get notifications about the jobs i had applied to if i got in or not but, after it says “worry not here are some related jobs u can apply to” it shows u other great jobs u can apply to. It’s perfect for me, u should try it too !!! HIGHLYYY recommend Merlin

this app has been awesome. Setting up a profile was super easy. It didn’t take long at all and I was able to apply for multiple jobs very quickly. Heard back from employers within hours of applying!! Definitely the easiest job app I’ve used. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a job!!
