Very Useful if You Live on the Coast

I live on the Alabama Gulf Coast, and as you would expect, factual, timely weather information is critical. I trust this Application enough that I base my “Storm Related” decisions largely upon the information I find here. Hurricane Tracker is a useful tool for causal, amateur & profession observers. You’ll find more data than you may need, but the design of the App allows you to access the level of information you desire quickly. The only change I might suggest: Maps allow you to focus in on your view, but sometimes being able to expand out the view would, for example, help tie the “Track” you see to the larger picture. This is particularly important when the event is located far out in the Atlantic. A little effort on my part can compensate for this, so this proposed change is not vital for the User.

Necessity in FL

I have had the app for about 2 years now, and I’m glad I do. It has been reliable and accurate, which is more than I can say for some weather apps. It has several visual tracking methods—spaghetti, millibars, radar, etc—so you have a good selection to monitor, even if you’re not a weather geek. It also tracks storms in the Atlantic *and* the Pacific. It is always up-to-date on NOAA data and alerts as well. One new feature that tickled me—when it sends a text alert it now includes a whooshing wind sound, which definitely differentiates it from any other alert. Kudos to the developers for accuracy, dependability and a clear, easy-to-use interface. Highly recommended. Now I’m going to check on Dorian again.

Best info, and a perfect alert system

If you’ve been through a serious hurricane, and live in an area where another will come, you rely on these alerts. The problem with other storm track apps is that they alert you about any and all storms - regardless of their threat to you. Storm alerts are a big deal, so receiving them for the Pacific is unnecessarily painful when you live on the Gulf Coast. This is the only app that lets me receive alerts only for the storms that threaten my region. Might seem like a small thing, but for those who have been traumatized it’s huge. Also the amount of maps and data are fantastic. If you grew up on the Gulf, you know exactly what they all mean and never feel like there’s more to know.
