Do not use this app or the airline

I had a load of problems with this company.

1. The WiFi on the flight didn’t work at all
2. I made a mistake and needed to make a change to my flight and the customer service agent convinced me to cancel my flight and rebook, and assured me that I would get a refund, and that someone from Cathay Pacific would contact… no one ever contacted me and now they are keeping $6000 of my money.
3. CathayPacific is impossible to use, it doesn’t even work
4. During my connecting flight I was in Hong Kong airport not knowing which gate to go to until 30 minutes before my flight
5. The food was terrible

I do not recommend using this airline at all

App is not an industry standard

Cathay Pacific lags other airlines in the functionality of their app. Very difficult to make changes and get refunds. Other airlines are automatic. But Cathay requires much additional paperwork and time to obtain a refund on such a simple matter. A the simplest mistake renders the refund application invalid. All the requested information is already in their system.

But CathayPacific is immensely better than their outsourced call center which is near useless since the agents just go on CathayPacific or website to get information.

Does not work

CathayPacific does not work.
Every time I try to check in, within 48 hours as per their loyalty program, it doesn’t work. Within 24 hours like regular airlines, it doesn’t work.
After checking in at the airport, and wanting to retrieve my electronic boarding pass, does not work.

Every time it states check in is not available for this segment, and quotes the 48 hour check in window.

Stuck in time

For some reason, a flight completed two months ago is still shown as up coming, and those unpaid reservations won’t let me pay or cancel

A two years old boarding pass makes me feel I am looking at a museum of my flying history than using an app of a airplane company.

Can CX pay the IT guys better to get all those fixed

If I am not allowed to select a seat except within 24 hours of departure then DON’T send me an email 2 days ahead and tell me to check in any time…. So I wasted so much time online thinking I made a mistake somewhere, obviously as I found out by calling Cathay, the agent told me it was not my problem! Not a good App!

I downloaded CathayPacific a few days ago as I had to travel on Jan 8th. I added my trip a few days ago and updated all details. Now on the day of travel, I can’t find the booking. I entered the booking reference no and it says it has been added to my bookings but nothing pulls up. Now I can’t check in. I contacted the chat on the website after signing into my laptop. No response. Very frustrating.

Since the last update i keep on getting numerous errors

1) As a frequent traveler i rely heavily on CathayPacific to buy tickets. When i try to purchase my tickets an error stating my name is too long asking me to call the call center to get the ticket pops up. Defeats the purpose of an app. Call center never gets the correct ticketing and i waste too much time on the phone

2) can never see my bookings (pop up says error occurs). I regularly have numerous bookings so i used to use CathayPacific this to see what my next trip was.

This is just another example of CX's horrible IT. Website is horrible, app is horrible. I have tried complaining over the last few months but nothing is being done and no response is give to my suggestions.

Worst customer service ever

Cathay Pacifica just neglected their customer’s basic rights and lies to the customers. Communicating with them is a disaster and a total waste of your time because you can never get an answer from them.
I requested a trip cancellation from Cathay Pacifica this early July. However, I didn’t receive my partial refund until I called them in August. It turns out that the refund number is not correct at all. Over the last two months, I contacted them for 6 times and each time it takes me almost an hour over the phone. Their responses were always something like we would call or email you back within 48 hours which are totally lies. They never reached back to me to explain the incorrect refund at all!
You can’t trust their words.
In other ways, they don’t respect customers at all!

Another Stupid App

Cathay is an international airline. They require a mobile # to signup, confirm number, then sign-in to app. If you’re traveling internationally you may not have access to your mobile number to signup and confirm. What a genius move. I can’t get my flight info or boarding information through CathayPacific because I am in another country, which is literally the service they provide. I’m so tired of how every app is designed by stupid people. Let us sign in with just an email address morons.

This version of CathayPacific does not allow me to purchase tickets as it claims my name is too long, even though for the last 8 years my name has been acceptable, for an airline app in APAC which requires First and Middle names it is laughable (and the reflection of a poor job of coding) that this error comes up. Perhaps someone could look into it resolving it rather than asking customers to dial in to an overburdened and understaffed call center to make one’s reservations.

I preparation for my flight to Hong Kong, I registered online and provided all the required documents to check in, the day before the flight. My boarding pass arrived in my inbox, the day of the flight after I stood in line to get one. On the return flight, when I received an email saying online checkin was available, I checked in but the system the rejected my attempts, multiple times. This is a first in my flying experience.

I’ve had to delete CathayPacific because I used to use the Asia miles app and now they’ve merged it into this one but it’s just a terrible idea. Poor quality and bad decision. Bring back the separate Asia miles app for your customers!!!

I don’t know how this airline is a top airline. They canceled my membership for no reason whatsoever. When I called their customer service line, took hours to get someone to reply and help. Escalated to supervisor and even that person could not tell me why they suspended or canceled a brand new account. My tickets I bought are in limbo and customer service essentially had me email a general email and said they could not help me whatsoever in any way. What a joke of a airline company! I would not recommend to use at all!

CathayPacific is pretty horrible.

First, it doesn't keep you logged in so you always have to dig up you membership number to access your information.

Next, the check in process doesn't remember your information even after you log in. I had to enter my passport information every time since they never seem to have it right in their system even though I have entered it numerous times.

Also, the back button doesn't work in most parts of the experience. When I didn't want to change my seat I checked back and it said that I was logged out due to an error. Sweet.

Finally, forget about getting boarding passes on the phone. They only give you the option of emailing it to yourself to print out later. What's the point then?

If you want to look for a better airline app look at the United app. It has some flaws but makes itself pretty easy to use.

I'm not sure what the point of the Cathay Pacific app is. You can't check in for International flights (most other airline's apps let you check in but direct you to a counter agent to show your passport), and once you're checked in, you can't view a mobile boarding pass. Instead, it says "you have no mobile boarding passes saved for this trip," and does not give you any way to view your boarding pass. The only thing CathayPacific does is show your flight details and that you are checked in.

I would expect that a premium airline such as Cathay Pacific would be able to release a reliable app for their customers. While it looks nice, you can't stay logged in (even when you check remember me) which means you have to either remember your long Marco Polo number every time you want to use CathayPacific . CathayPacific also is unstable and crashes all the time. It's been a couple months since the "new" release and it's still having these basic issues.

Just lost a star because now I am delighted by a new feature which requires me to log in with my password each and every time even though I check "stay signed in". Clearly CathayPacific is not rigorously tested, but don't worry at least it's not holding your credit card information... Oh wait...

This is a good looking and decent amount of functionality for an airline app. Well done.

AliPay is completely horrible though. It does not accept American Express, transactions fail half the time, and it is incredibly slow. I have literally chosen NOT to buy CX/KA tickets on multiple occasions in China simply because AliPay is so bad. Please change this to what Cathay has implemented everywhere else in the world which is fine for a payment system.

The Cathay pacific api always connect out of CathayPacific , and I have been having changing my password every single time to login, which I don’t understand why the password system is quite weak. Need more faster and accessible without signing in every time when I open the apps. I also wish to have a Cathay pacific card in the passbook, so I could always pull out my membership card digitally without using the physical card.

Flight status error

I check you flights every day for arrival times I run a taxi service. The flight no matter how early or late will always show Schedule rime of arrival ( which everyone knows doesn't change) it only updates the time after the flight arrives.. Which is useless to me...sometimes your flights arrive 30 to 40 minute early or 30 to 40 minutes late

Though new version is a lot better than the previous one in terms of booking management page, there is still a long way to go to make it practical. The most struggling issue is that when I hit view profile, it always pops up that cannot complete my request, so does applying lounge pass to my trip. As a frequent flyer of Cathay, I still look forward to a new update where these bugs can be fixed.

Even though my passport info is saved...CathayPacific frustratingly asks me to put in my country of resident every single time. This is frustrating as passengers don’t move their country of residences that often!

But also, the prompt is very unclear when it is asking me for this! There is no highlight or note that says that this is the field that needs to be filled in. You just see many input fields for other passport info but no prompt to help you provide the info that’s missing. Terrible UX

It’s much easier to make booking via website. I can see pricing of each date on website, I can choose class for each leg of my itinerary. It’s way more customizable and flexible in the website.

Thanks for the update to let us add membership card to wallet. But that card is not stunning yet. 1. The Cathy Pacific and logo should be at the very up left corner and in bigger size, not “Marco Polo club” 2. Missing “OneWorld” logo. 3. It would be better to have a photo. (Refer Air China/China Southern/China Eastern membership card)

The Only Way

The only way you can even book or do anything is through their app LOL. I tried multiple times through their website on phone and PC but it kept white screening. I was able to quickly book and manage my booking through CathayPacific .

I think that the Cathay Pacific app is awesome! What i enjoy about CathayPacific is reading about the crew members and how they got to work for Cathay Pacific. I also enjoy reading and looking at the photos of your Economy Class, Premium Economy Class, First Class and recently updated Regional Business Class. The Try the seat feature is the coolest ever! You get to explore the first class seat and see all of the features you have in first class. Also, if you are traveling anywhere on Cathay Pacific just check the city guides on tips about your destination...

CathayPacific is easy to use and has a failure friendly and clear interface. However, why did the developer replace the old login method with this new one? The old one allows you to log in directly in CathayPacific (instead of being redirected to CX website) and allows faceID and touchID login(the new login measure does not support faceID or touchID). I hope to see the old login measure in future updates.
