Might be okay in major cities but useless in flyover country. Deleting.

LocalEats will execute a search and show the results for about 5 seconds then shuts down. Tried reloading etc. all to no avail. Don’t waste your time.

I haven’t used LocalEats in a very, very long time. The developers need to do a massive update. I typed in my own city and LocalEats said it couldn’t find it. Is LocalEats not pulling information from online? What would prompt me to use LocalEats over using a browser like duck duck go? Sorry, but I gotta delete LocalEats . That’s a pretty big error when LocalEats itself is called “this app”.

App hasn’t been updated in 2 years and it shows. I used to use LocalEats all the time. It has found me some incredible meals over the years but many of the restaurants are now closed but are still listed as open. I tried to nominate a new restaurant but it errors out. A shame.

This used to be a great app for finding new restaurants at home or good places to eat while traveling. It needs to be updated however. Many of the recommended restaurants have closed. Some have been closed for more than a year.

Local Eats has been my go-to for restaurant recommendations for years. They have a very well curated list of locally owned restaurants at any range and are not as overwhelming as Yelp or Zagat for choice. However, LocalEats crashes constantly, can’t handle applying filters, and basically looks and operates like it is about 10 years out of date. Hoping for better app development eventually, but for now it’s almost unusable.

Local Eats is a simple yet effective food guide that allows you to look up and filter recommended eateries by location, price, category, award winners and more. Each listed establishment has a image, address and a brief synopsis on the positives of dining there. Users can also submit restaurants for consideration as well as share eateries with others. The application is easy to navigate and simple to use.

There is room for improvement:
They need to add some more cities. I live in Albuquerque NM and we have some really good restaurants here. Please add Albuquerque NM.
They need to add more descriptions for restaurants. Many come up blank. Also the font for the descriptions is too small to read. Make it larger or give an option to set the font to your choice.
They need to add an option to email restaurant information to someone by choosing them from the contacts or entering the email address.
They need to add an option to view additional photos of a restaurant.
Add an option for a user to select a search radius for the Near Me feature.

I’ve been a fan of Local Eats almost from its start. Time after time their selected eateries proved they were worth the rating.
I have just one quibble. I have twice tried get restaurants listed on local eats. These were both restaurants I’ve been to multiple times and always found the food to be interesting and very well prepared. Neither of them have made the list.
I’ve never received anything from Local Eats about my submissions and that concerns me.

I love local eats, it has found me incredible restaurants in random towns in most US states and in the big cities in almost every country I’ve traveled to. It only steered me wrong one time ever when it brought me to a kabob chain in Berlin. Which was still pretty good. The pho place in New Mexico and the Italian place in Rio de Janeiro stick out as places I would never have found without this marvelous app!! Five stars and may the creators live forever!
