Original review:
The AI communicates bizarrely, often intertwining an attempted witty/lighthearted/positive tone with heavy subjects. For instance, following comments about the polio vaccines for Palestinians and Israel recovering dead hostages with, “talk about multitasking!” The tone is way out of context.

Also, the topical summaries are pretty shallow, and there is no option to read a more detailed summary. It’s almost as if the AI’s attempts to avoid partisan spin result in the omission of substantive reporting. My critiques are preference-oriented. Others will have different preferences and opinions. I do think it’s worth trying, and the dev’s goal of neutrality is commendable.

Thanks for pointing me to the links. That’s helpful. I removed that statement from my original review.

1440 is almost perfect imo, but the one thing that drives me nuts are the Wikipedia links in “Today In History”. For example.. if it’s talking about a certain wwii mission or talking about people being arrested for some sort of crime in Texas, a lot of the time it would just pull up the Wikipedia for wwii. Or pull up the Wikipedia for Texas. If it’s possible to narrow the links for Wikipedia down the the subject matter of what happened on that day it would be 5/5 stars for me.

It’s nice being able to get a summary of the news so quickly and concisely, without all of the distractions or added fluff. I also like the little summary at the top of each day because its a helpful little primer for what you will read. I like 1440!

It would be helpful if the date, time was always included with the summaries of the news event every time to ensure transparency through and through. It would also be cool to have the option to choose which news sources are being utilized and pulled from. A large variety of source choices. Maybe also some sort of analysis gauging the opinions of the people in each article. A sort of “so whats the general consensus” visual maybe.

Seriously though, I like this. The conciseness of it helps when the ADHD is going lol. Thank you keep it up!

I always appreciate 1440’s coverage of the news from around the world. It is consistently reported in a factual and unbiased manner.

With all the noise associated with other news apps, Quill strikes the perfect balance between the amount of content, and the quality of content. It prevents the endless scroll effect by presenting the top 10 articles based on publication coverage. It’s presented in a concise summary, including a map of the location (awesome touch). Perfect app for someone wanting to keep up with current events without getting sucked into the vortex.

The political climate has seemed to have gotten more and more divergent now that it’s easier than ever for many news headlines to reach mass amounts of viewers. Many of which showing bias, omitting crucial information, and pushing agendas.

It’s incredibly hard nowadays to find unbiased news that allow you to form your own opinion. 1440 has exactly that—unbiased, concise news that brings you the basic information you need to think for yourself. All free of charge! This is something we’ve needed for a long time. Thank you for bringing this to us.

If I had any suggestions for 1440, it’d be to add a way for users to show their support via tips/donations. You deserve it!
