Looks like a great app, but this is yet another example of how a subscription has been a dealbreaker. I would rather just use google maps which has free native offline satellite image downloads on iPhone. Disappointing.

Listed as free. If you search it up on your watch there’s no real indicator of a cost until after it has been downloaded. Comes off as deceptive to increase download count, thus the one star.
I download GooseMaps and it made me pay for it.
Region I want to download is “unavailable” despite having a download size.
It keeps crashing and nothing works
Never again will I get GooseMaps.
seemed like a good concept but i didn’t even get to use GooseMaps because no matter what i did it just kept crashing on me, i was able to start to set it up then it told me it costed money, honestly like i think the concept is nice it’s just that it doesn’t cost money to go on google maps or their actual source (openstreetmap.com) and find local trail and then just run bar ads below to pay employees but that’s besides the point i could just go on google maps or something and find trails that way.
As a true phone-free alternative to apple/google maps, it would need to be able to search for specific places and addresses for navigation directions, rather than just category suggestions in the immediate vicinity.
GooseMaps is nice but I primarily use it as my navigator and I need an ability to import gpx files and see the track. Because I usually download premade tracks.
There are few things I hate more than subscriptions. How about a lifetime price option?
this app has potential but the biggest issue is that the map does not orient towards the direction you are moving. It seems to be only able to orient north. If you are walking and raise your wrist to view the next direction, it could be oriented to look like you need to turnaround. Phone apps are able to select north or direction of travel to orient at the top of the screen. I realize this is for a watch and there are restrictions but the Apple Ultra Watch has the capability. The other smaller issue is the downloadable map descriptions are not informative so you have to download unnecessary maps to ensure coverage. An easy fix is to show a map on the website laid out like a zip code map to show the download files geographically. As a paid app these need to be fixed for me to continue supporting GooseMaps .
Does GooseMaps work in china
800 and some dollars and the Ultra 2 doesn’t do what I bought it for. It’s the Mighty Goose that flys and the Vultures hide.

Takes my watch to another level. A few more features would be nice, but I hope the UI doesn’t become over-developed that it loses its simplicity. Adding a coordinate system would be great.
Been looking for decent topo maps for my Ultra. Can’t wait for further updates for GooseMaps

Suggested the addition of customizable bookmark name and it was added in the next update.

Download the Goose Map a week ago. Tested it, and can't emphasise how satisfied I am. Looked for several, but downloaded this because it's a "Stand Alone" app, (bought the Apple Watch for the convenience of leaving my heavy iPhone at home) It´s very easy to use with endless info´s to navigate. I think to pay a yearly subscription Is absolutely a fair price to avoid the annoying advertisements. I highly recommend it. Give it try. And don´t bother on the negative reviews. Which other Stand Alone map is comparable ? C. Robert
