MapGenie: Elden Ring Map Reviews

First off, there's two prices. If you purchase the pro version on desktop, it's $5, but if you purchase through apple appstore, it's $7. Kind of annoying.
Second, I paid for pro after it said I can track as much in as many categories as I want, but no matter what I click as "found," the next time I reload on desktop or mobile, none of my finds will be saved, leaving my map a cluttered mess again. Takes an hour just to manually go through and remark everything, only to lose those changes later anyways.

Something like this is supposed to save time and help me remember what dungeons I've cleared... not add prep time just to see what I've been doing.

On iPhone 14 Every time I click on a location, the details pop up on the bottom but the map jumps southeast. Like if I click on Varre it’ll take me to the peninsula. Then I have to scroll all the way back. Unusable. Plus the categories that you want to track don’t get saved like in the web version

I just downloaded MapGenie . When I open MapGenie , the map is completely blank white with all the waypoints overlay. But the most important part the actual Elden Ring map is not showing up at all. I updated my iPad software to the latest and tried redownloading MapGenie multiple times but still the same result. This is not useful.

Every map genie app (Witcher, Elden Ring, etc) always has issues. Like not being able to see the actual map but all of the icons. That’s what’s happening with Shadow of the Erdtree update. For a paid app - this shouldn’t be happening. It’s essentially useless because you can’t actually see anything. The website version works but not MapGenie .

MapGenie is driving me nuts but I love it at the same time. I paid for the pro version ($5) so it can remember “found” items and locations and also so it’s ad-free. Well worth it IMO. HOWEVER, I bounce between MapGenie and my browser (guides etc) while playing. Anywhere between 20 minutes and an hour of use, somewhat randomly, it decides to reset the filters. This is incredibly annoying while in the middle of a play-through. I am hopeful with the new ER DLC that’s coming out in a few days that they will update this annoying bug!

This is hands down the highest quality ER Map. It has a smooth interface with all the filters needed to view and hide objects. The best part is when you tap and item, it pops up all the information about said item as well as links to what the item is related to. For example, clicking an NPC will bring up their info and all the links to their relation within the world (quests, moved locations, etc). It will also auto unhide items related to these links for easy viewing.

The issue is, this map works half he time. Sometimes the map just shows white and there’s no way to fix or refresh it. You can close and reopen the map 100x and it’ll just be white-out until it decides to load, which you have no clue of. I’d say this map works HALF the time. I have a backup app I use and honestly have started using it near exclusively despite how clunky it is, just because it at least WORKS. Please look into this issue and fix it, then you will get 5 stars.

I paid for the Pro version and gave been pretty happy with this and other this app apps. I guess I just expected that the Pro version could work offline? Nope. MapGenie just throws up an error and doesn’t work.

Please make MapGenie work offline. I’d happy pay for that!

MapGenie is soooo helpful but all of a sudden it keeps telling me it failed to mark off something when I found it. It only just started happening like a week ago and nothing I do will make it work. Please do an update

tapping on map items scrolls the entire map up and to the left until what I tapped on is off-screen. You have to manually drag the part of the map you were just looking at and hope you didn’t loose track of which one.

This is super annoying to use. I’m going back to using the website.

This felt a little more complete than some of the other map and tracking apps I tried. After hitting the peak limit for tracking on the free version I paid for the pro upgrade to remove ads and track unlimited points.

The only issues I had was a bug when selecting something moves the map so it’s not in view anymore (seems to upper left justify), second is that search could be better and provide a better cycle to find (for example finding silver just bounces and cancels search). Some features that would make it easier to use is hid marked found items so you don’t click on them in tight areas where many icons are visible and another option to help select what you want in a large groups of icons. One idea may to list a few in the are you selected to fine tune the section.

If these are fixed, I would bump to a 5 star!!!

- opening sidebar by swiping from left also moves the map (it shouldnt)
- zooming in and out loads new tiles but their default background is white so it is like a strobe light and hurts my eyes
- ui is quite unrefined as mentioned by another reviewer

happy to pay $ when these basic issues are resolved

It looks nice and shows everything fairly accurately however it won’t let me mark anything as found unless I relogin to my account every single time I use so three stars… Hopefully it gets fixed

I bought the pro version because I like exploring everywhere in open world games and this helped with that. It’s great but the only problem I have is when you press an item to say you found it, the camera will recenter in a weird area, making it hard to select multiple items as found.

Looks and feels nice. but it suddenly won’t let me tag things as found anymore. it just says “failed to mark location”. please look into!

Show all points of interest - BUT - no background - so useless. I found if you login to this app on your browser - doesn’t have that problem. App needs help for iOS.

This map is nice and it shows everything that can be found on elder ring however one issue that I have is when I click to see more information on a certain item or place the maps moves by it self I have to move the map every time I click something to see its location and read it’s description which is rather annoying I don’t know if it’s a bug or something but hope you can fix that if you can.

Everyone you click a map icon, it shifts you off to far away from where you are for no apparent reason. And I can’t seem to find out why. But it’s really inconvenient and feels completely unnecessary. Almost like it was a feature in progress that got forgotten. But otherwise it’s great.

Since I found out that the developer is the same that made RDR2 map I immediately purchased the full version. Being a 100% type of player I love this type of maps that shows you everything without spoilers (except for finding out how big the world is). The basic version is useful if you don’t want to keep track of your progress.
It’s absolutely great companion tool whether you’re a veteran or just beginning. I highly recommend it. I just have a few notes and issues that takes away the 5 star rating and I hope the developers fix it:
1- some areas have a lot of icons that cause it to cluster on top of each other making it very difficult to choose. I wish they would increase the zoom power so that we can focus on the icon I want to press. I want to try it on ipad version to see if it’s better. Regardless I think we need more zoom power to the map.
2- I wish it has a search function as sometimes I find something in the game and I want to mark that I found it in MapGenie and end up spending good 5 minutes trying to find it.
3- for some reason when I click on an icon sometimes the map just shift downward and to the right moving me away from the icon that I just pressed!
Other than that, great product and I’m looking forward to mark everything in the map as found!!

Great map! In fact I gave it 4 stars. However, one tiny thing I wish it had was the ability to make found locations more visible on the map after you’ve found them. As it stands, the found locations are largely invisible unless you really zoom in to find them and some may prefer that, but I don’t. I’d like to see a setting where you can change how visible your found locations are. This being said, its a very well done map and the ability to add notes is great. He’s part is, unlike other map apps it’s a one-time payment and not a subscription which I like. Give me that setting and this will be a flawless map!

I don’t normally write reviews, but there are a lot of bad elden ring maps and trackers out there. This is not one of them.

I found the browser version of MapGenie after growing tired of a certain other popular elden ring map… It didn’t scale with markers, and locations were not very accurate.

This map is perfect. Whoever works as this app is doing a great job. Personally, I paid the $5 for full access within an hour of using the browser version. It’s just that good. I normally don’t even use maps or trackers for games, but elden ring is much more fun with it in my opinion.

There are a couple reasons I feel this project doesn’t yet deserve 5 stars:
1. The UI - it’s a bit too simple and unrefined looking. minimal is good, but i feel it’s a little clunky to navigate in menus etc.
2. Item / Boss info. - Drops are usually all that is mentioned for bosses. Items only have their specific location described. I think it would be really great to have info like weakness, effects, etc. included— even if it means paying to unlock it. Having an all-in-one app would be amazing. I could see it being really successful.

As long as you understand what you’re getting: a detailed map, precise locations, tons of filters, checklists, and the ability to leave notes, you’ll be very pleased. This is not an encyclopedia for elden ring.

Are there any way to remove the note blips on the map, and also is there any way we can reset the items we’ve already found?

I’m want to start a new play through, but I’ll have to uncheck all of the items and weapons etc. manually found and that’s a bummer.

Besides those two things, it’s an overall helpful app. Great work!👍

Good part: First time using a map app and I googled around first, getting the best recommendation being this one. Initially MapGenie is good for finding items in an area you know your way around, but if you sign up for an account you can track your progress which is really helpful. Also by clicking icons sometimes it will show in game images of the area which is insanely helpful. It has good descriptions and accurate locations, more information on quest lines and next NPC locations would be helpful but it’s pretty good as is.

Sad part: unfortunately, I was able to track which items I’ve found in beginning, but now it says an error occurs and it cannot mark my progress. Very unfortunate as that’s why I got MapGenie . 2. When clicking an icon, the screen shifts down to the right nearly taking it out of view, very frustrating. 3. Sometimes the map takes a few seconds to load, but it just shows white sometimes and that’s very inconvenient. 4. There needs to be more zoom-in capabilities as the icons are often bunched on top of each other, making it hard to tap the correct one.

Otherwise it’s a great app and I gotta love it, unfortunately I’ll be waiting till tracking progress will fix itself for me to start using MapGenie again.

For the most part, MapGenie is great! I’m a completionist, and this app is helpful for ensuring I don’t miss anything. I also like that I can log into my account on my computer and everything is synced.

However, there are a couple issues that bring my rating down a star. On the mobile app, when I click on a map marker, the map moves to a different location, making it so that the marker is no longer on screen. Two, I have compared to other completionist lists and noted that there are some items missing. I have some other quibbles, but nothing worth mentioning.

If these issues are fixed, this easily would be a 5 star app. Thanks for putting this together!

So when I first got MapGenie it was working fine but now everytime I try to mark something as done/found it say “can not mark as found” I’ve try waiting a lil then deleting MapGenie but noting works idk what to do

This is has been a lifesaver in my last playthroughs, making sure I collect all I can and do all I can.
I do want to know if the DLC map and items will ever be added? I paid the $7 or whatever, I’d just like to be able to track those items as well.

MapGenie is a must have. I recommend paying for it so you can mark more than 100 locations as found. If you buy it from map genies website you can get it for $5 instead of the $7 from MapGenie Store.

A pin-point accurate map depiction of where everything is in the game. Must-have if you’re going for that play or even if you’re just casually playing and want to check out what’s in your vicinity. Very useful even if you’re just looking to find every grace.

The map is accurate, the free version is certainly useable, and the paid version is even better (no ads and unlimited collection/location tracking). Perhaps my only complaint is that it does not remember which locations/items you chose to hide from the map so every time you close and re open MapGenie the map is crowded with a crazy amount of markers again. Please implement map memory so that items/locations that are toggled off stay off.

Great app. Used it through my entire first playthrough. I just wish there was a way I could reset my progress in MapGenie since I started a new playthrough with a brand new character and want to use it again. Otherwise it’s great

This map is extremely useful and i can appreciate the time that obviously went into this. I have a question for dev: I’m currently in the process of defeating all of the bosses but so far MapGenie seems to only allow me to have a maximum of I would say 80 items selected or marked as “Found” at one time. Is there a fix for this? Thanks

i have adhd and this is my 3rd playthrough getting ready for the DLC but i know for a fact i keep missing things. this was very easy to use and i immediately upgraded to track what i’ve found. has made it easier to get into the lore aspect and take my time and really get into this master piece id a game. thank you!

This helps because of how big of a map and there are so many crevices and things you can miss and MapGenie helps with that it is just an all around great map

This is the easiest map to navigate, by far. It might not come with strategies and guided like the other map apps, but that’s what the internet is for. Everything is available for free upfront, but it’s a one-time payment to unlock unlimited progress tracking. All-in-all, this is by far the most organized, easiest, and best Elden Ring map app I’ve seen.

Simply put, I think this map is a great tool when playing Elden Ring. Well worth the price.
It has enabled me to find ant track items places etc without spoiling the game.

Really good app, it helped me find the unendurable frenzy spell. One small downside, why don’t they tell you where the ghost is for the paintings. I’m still looking for the “Resurrection” one.

Land of shadow map will not load on app it’s just a white screen for me other than that I’ve had zero issues with it
