I hate this app

Under Hybrid I could track my workouts by what day I was on in the program. When I completed I marked it complete and then it moved to a completed list. Now, I have to find the date of my last workout. I’m a few weeks behind, so now I have to find the day in February that day 105 is on. It also won’t let me add the weight that I actually used for my workout that day. I’m pretty sure that this will cause me to leave this program, which is sad because I love it, but the workouts being in March 12 instead of what day of the program I am on makes it too hard to keep track of where I am. Maybe if I could mark workouts complete after I completed and that allowed me to see where I am I would stay, but HWPO was forced out and doesn’t seem like it was thought through very well. I also don’t like how there are no workout notes or videos. I’m done!

Programming is awesome, app needs improvement

The programming of HWPO is excellent, workouts, the demonstration videos and coaching. HWPO itself has limited functionality. It does not allow for inputting individual weight for each set or how many reps completed, or to mark off each set completed. It does have a notes section, but if I have to keep track of that info in the notes section I might as well have a spreadsheet or a notebook. Also, having to have a separate account and login for gowod is inconvenient, everything for the workout should be ready to go. I was looking forward to starting the strong program but the functionality of HWPO just didn’t work for me. This is coming from someone who used the naked app for a few years, I have an understanding of these workouts and I was disappointed since I really wanted to focus on a powerlifting routine.

Programming is stellar. App, it so much

The programming is quite fantastic. Not the best at scaling options, but if you’re already proficient and able to scale and understand the intended stimulus it’s great. Now, HWPO :
- no way to see history for specific lifts in the workout page. For example, it will say Strict Press 5X3 at 90% of last week’s 3RM. Then you have to exit the workout find the day it occurred last week and calculate it. Easy to fix, annoying.
Every day has annoying gowod prewod and postwod that takes you to their app that you need to check off if you want the day to be marked as done.
If you skip a day or do it on a different day, there is not way to move it to ‘today’. Most other apps offer this. Makes it much easier to track.

Strong Program - Review

Program is “ok” at best. This is definitely geared to CrossFit guys/gals looking to add some strength, not powerlifters looking to progress. You can’t track accessory sets, reps or weights…this might be fine for some communities where they just rep out more, however, as a powerlifter I keep a detailed history of accessory work. As accessories work lbs come up each week, my weak points (what accessory work should be geared toward) improve thus improving my overall strength. The week tracking and inability to adjust is frankly annoying at best, you will see this repeated in almost all the comments.

TLDR: If your an experienced strength athlete HWPO is not for you. Lack of detailed tracking makes it questionable for most in my opinion.

Needs a lot of work

Sound for the videos work 10% of the time. It would be nice if you missed a day HWPO would just automatically go to where you left off. The video contradicts the way the workout is written out. Also would like it if there were alternate workouts to do if you don’t have a certain piece of equipment. Some of the movement videos are missing from certain sections. Love the programming but paying 40 a month when HWPO has a ton of mistakes is becoming not worth it.

Great program, poor app!

The programming is great and top notch, but HWPO however needs a ton of work. When this program was on the Hybrid App it went off day of the program not the day of the week where the program keeps moving even if you miss a day. It also doesn’t allow you to change the prescribed weights for your workout. Some days I want to do less, some days more but you can’t adjust it in the program. Also some of the description for cardio work needs some more thought put into it, esp if ally with the spin bike stuff. It would be also great if you could put in the cardio equipment that you own and builds a program around that. Not all of us home gym people have an assault runner, rower, fan bike, skierg, and a spin bike.

Unbeatable programming and app that needs a bit more polishing

I can tell as a coach that there’s been a lot of thought put into every detail of the programming. I’m on flagship on day 10 right now and love the base building that it’s doing so far (giving me some time to work on my lacking skillset like handstand walks and double unders)

I did jump on during the initial hybrid launch and I do have to agree it was easier when the days rolled based on what day of the program you’re on instead of the calendar based. Also some of the usual workout notes and tips with the alternate equipment suggestions aren’t there so it’s understandable that a lot of people might be clueless with how to proceed, especially the new ones since there aren’t much discussion about the earlier days in circle.

All in all I’m here for the long ride with Matt and his team as I know they put in a lot of hard work and love to give us the best programming ever, and will listen to our concerns and feedback. Just gotta have the patience as the only way they can go is up with their execution.

Great workouts

I enjoy the workouts a lot. Fast paced which I like. One small thing I’m not stand up as I wish they had a timer built into HWPO so I could keep the workout open during AMRAP workouts because it takes my forgetful self a few rounds to remember the ones that have more than 4 stations lol.

The name says it all……

HWPO takes care for all your programming needs and all you have to do is put in the Hard Work and it will Pay Off. It’s not just random movements to sweat, there a purpose with each workout towards a bigger picture and better fitness

Unbelievable difference

When I started this app Golf I was overweight and struggled through the exercises. But I stayed with it and I feel an unbelievable difference in my everyday life. After I started working out more. I started eating better and taking better care of myself. It all started with HWPO!!!!

Cant wait to get to the next level

I played ice hockey growing up

Dabbled in CrossFit post college to keep some intensity competition and team atmosphere around

Post child + pandemic I went full lazy and couldn't find something to kick start moving around. This has been a perfect athletic movement primer to getting my endurance and strength back on the rise

Amazing programming

HWPO is amazing, the programming is amazing and the how to videos are too.
The could be better with an in app timer
For time,amraps , intervals
HWPO does have other purchases features for warm up n cools down for the WOD which takes away from HWPO .
fix these minor things and this would be the perfect app

Great App Always Improving

HWPO is the best CrossFit programming you can find. Additionally the community you get access to is so supportive and helpful. I noticed a few negative comments about HWPO in the reviews and they are outdated. This team listened to reviews and feedback and quickly made improvements to HWPO based on true user reviews and I have no doubt they will continue to make changes to make the experience even better!

HWPO Flagship Review

The programming is outstanding and delivers incredible results. The workouts are very well thought out and balanced. The effects on your health and performance are second to none. This program goes well beyond your average CrossFit class so some of you might be in for a surprise but you will quickly find out what it takes to get actual significant results.

Great fitness program!!!

I absolutely love the workouts that are programmed in the this app app! Highly recommend it! The only reason I gave it a four star rating is because I really wish there was gymnastics progression videos or techniques written in the program to help members get better in certain gymnastic movements who can’t or they are wanting to get better at it! I have seen improvements with my lifts and my cardio on machines!

Top 3 Apps I pay for

quick backdrop - 46 years old, did CF at a gym from 35-40, moved to VT worked out in home gym and over 5 years maintained and slowly lost strength and fitness. Friend who has tried them all and is a CF nut told me this is the best and most thoughtful one out there. Originally i thought why spend $ on workouts I can make up myself - WRONG - the better question was why waist 20 mins every gym session making up something when for 1.5 dollars a day it is professionally planned. No %£@% i am 2 months in and putting up lifetime PR's in everything. The this app 60 is no joke - I did get run down week 4 and got a cold, it wore me out. My wife now does Sweat and absolutely loves it. I am 3 months in and am a fan. The only other app I tell people about that is also worth the $ is "brian Johnsons" optimize app -- thanks mat, sammy

Best Programming

This is the first time I’m able to make visible progress with a program. I love how thoughtful and well laid out everything is. The team truly puts a huge effort into improving HWPO and it shows.

Only issue I have is the training days being tied to a calendar. They did come up with a “fix” that lets you update what training day you’re on, but it’s annoying, complicated, and in my opinion, unnecessary. I don’t always want to move up or down a day, some days I have access to certain equipment and I’d want to go back to the days I skipped later. I hope the this app team can make some improvements there to be more flexible.

Other than that I couldn’t be happier, and I won’t be going anywhere else. This is just what I needed to make significant progress.

Thanks this app Team!

Excellent App and programming.

I have tried a few home programs for CrossFit, this app has the best app out of all of them. The Strong and 60 programs are laid out very well in HWPO and makes it easy to determine each segment of the days workout.

I had better results after one cycle of the Strong program than after two years of in person CrossFit classes. I just started the 60 program, too early to tell results but the sections are all tied together nicely and it is enjoyable so far.

Can’t Recommended More

If your serious, this is for you. If you’re not, you leave less than 5 stars. This is for those who want to be trained by the best-not those who want to change Matt’s programming to make it easier. If you don’t have the equipment, use what you have, or compensate with other like movements. If you have nothing, then you should have done more research on who Matt Frasier is and what is expected of his program. Sick and tired of people leaving reviews based on themselves and not the program. Just do what he says as best you can. If not, don’t blame HWPO . It’s great.

HWPO is the real real

The fact they are really trying to make it a one stop all is great. Adding the numbers, and paces I’m supposed to be hitting is such a huge help. You never have to leave HWPO to calculate anything. The programming is top notch, even if some days I think Mat is crazy because of the volume hahaha
