Very Disappointed - Not Paying

I’ve been using Road ID for 5yrs or more, and I loved it. I have several of the ID bands and bracelets for myself and my kids. I had been using SafeBeacon for the real time GPS tracking and SOS features when I went running or cycling. It would give my wife peace of mind that she was able to see my location when I was out solo, and she would get an alert with the SOS feature. I was extremely disappointed when switching to the new version only to find out it is no longer free. I deleted SafeBeacon and will no longer be using it. It would probably be cheaper and easier to use Apple AirTag or something similar. I already use the FREE version of Strava to track my workouts and data.

Unreliable

This used to be a great app. I didn’t even mind when they announced that it would be a paid app going forward - I signed up and paid the $2.99+ tax for the month of January 2022, expecting that SafeBeacon would actually work when I started it up. I get so many “unexpected activity ending” errors now - so while I am using SafeBeacon and thinking that it’s actually tracking me, it’s doing literally nothing until I get home from my activity and try to notify my guardians. Then I get the “activity has ended unexpectedly” message or whatever it is and it hasn’t been tracking me at all. I just canceled the subscription. Why pay for something that literally doesn’t work. I am so frustrated but it will be easier (and free) to just shoot my guardians a group text when I leave for my activity instead. Ugh.

I guess I’ll have to find another way to notify of my emergency contacts

When I first began running, I asked for an easy way to notify of who I was, something were to happen to me and several people suggested RoadID. I love the simple silicone bracelet, with the very sturdy stainless steel ID plate. I’ve used it for close to 10 years and have zero complaints.

Of course, they keep changing all of the different styles and I’m sure pretty soon the simple silicone band is just gonna go out the window. Now I find out that I have to pay for a new upgraded app when all I wanted to do is update my emergency contacts on my home screen. Good luck with your company…

Agonizing death of a good app

What used to be a great app (2020 and prior version) was “upgraded” by removing a number of the most useful features. On top of that, now the developer wants you to pay to have less than what you used to get for free. Even some of the screenshots in SafeBeacon description in SafeBeacon Store don’t match SafeBeacon . Canceling a stationary alert doesn’t have a nice large button, you have to navigate multiple small banner sized notifications to cancel the alert - try that with the phone fastened to your upper arm. You used to be able to set-up a custom message for you stationary alert sent to your followers, but that was removed also. We had a free Cadillac, now we have an expensive Pinto (look it up) and they took off the wheels.

Safe as a solo (female) runner

I love SafeBeacon! I started using it about 6 years ago when a cycling friend told me about it. I'm a female runner who often runs early mornings and alone. My husband loves that he gets a live link to be able to track me. I also love the stationary alert option. SafeBeacon is a must for anyone who lives an active lifestyle (cycling, running, hiking etc) to help your loved ones keep track of your location. Download it now!

RoadID app worth the cost

I’ve been a customer of RoadID for 10+ years. The peace of mind that comes for me and my loved ones when they can follow along on my run and rides and be notified if I stop moving is more valuable than the cost of SafeBeacon . You get much more than you pay for with SafeBeacon. It’s reliable, easy to use, affordable and to my knowledge the only app like it available.

Great app

I love SafeBeacon!! I admit, December was challenging with the multiple updates, but SafeBeacon continues to grow and improve. I recently did a ride out of state and my wife and friend were able to see exactly where I was on the course. As a retired ER RN I appreciate the information you can add via subscription. Too often injuries prevent riders ability to give medical history. In short, you won’t be disappointed using SafeBeacon.

Road ID is the bomb

I’ve Been using Road ID for three years or so. It’s great for keeping track of all my rides bicycle rides that i. I use SafeBeacon for riding my bike. Company also sells a cool braided bracelet if you’re by yourself and are injured or something.
SafeBeacon lets you notify up to five people about your whereabouts send them a link my message text message open website that shows your location. so cool. I highly recommend SafeBeacon Road ID.

Huge, huge, HUGE fan

SafeBeacon is amazing and I am so grateful for it. Living in the city can be scary and SafeBeacon is perfect for keeping a watchful eye. I feel safer knowing a guardian can follow along any time. The guardian’s interface is really easy to learn. The best part is the emails RoadID sends after each crumb. I even wrote in about how much I enjoy the emails and got such a warm and friendly response back. I’ll continue paying for this service forever!

Makes me feel safe

Really good app that exactly tracks each little detail of your walk live for my friends to passively keep an eye on me, the peace of mind is most valuable. There’s also a history part which is useful for reference for keeping track of your progress and exercise log. I also appreciate the straightforward and simple user interface and functionality. Overall ten out of ten

Still digging it.

I am 70 years old and an avid biker, your app allows me the freedom to ride to the fullest ability of my senior citizen skill set without the “what if” scenario running through my mind. My wife also appreciates being able to check on me while ride. The fact that she feels more at ease while I ride is important to me. One thing you might think about adding to SafeBeacon is a block I could activate when I stop at McDonalds or a brewery. When I first started using your app, I thought “how can they do all this on the cost of the bracelets alone”. So when you added the new fee, I thought, this is the cheapest insurance policy I have ever had. Last but not least, after my ride, I really enjoy reading the ride summary e-mail. You have me believing that I have awed your staff while leaving parts of my anatomy on the road. Thank you for what do, Cliff Tuttle

Amazing for safety

My mom and I have been using SafeBeacon for years and it give us both a great sense of security knowing that we and out loved ones can keep track of each other. The notifications are great and I especially appreciate the stop alerts and knowing that my family would be notified quickly if that happened and head out to that spot in my run. Thank you Road ID for being a part of our family’s health and continuing to keep us safe!

The Best- Simple and Effective

My wife would often ask where are you going? How will I know if something happened? I had no answer except just trust me and the Lord that He will take care of me! That wasn’t enough so I started looking and found Road ID. You see, my wife is challenged using apps. Road ID takes all that away. She receives a text and from there voila! She loves being able to ride or walk “with me”. It is truly a lifesaver. Recently diagnosed with heart issues I am not afraid to go out. The Lord and Road ID have me covered. Thank you both father and son for your fine work.

Worth the investment

Been using SafeBeacon almost since it’s initial launch. The team has done an excellent job updating features as tech advances. It’s super easy to use and intuitive to navigate. Was a little miffed when they announced tracking would become a subscription service, but with a little reflection I realized a couple $ a month to allow my wife to always know where I’m at and alert for help if ever needed was well worth the peace of mind for her. Happy Wife -> More Bike Rides -> Happy Life 😁

Peace of mind.

As a disabled person and a new recipient of a service dog, I am out and about in the neighborhood quite a bit taking my dog for a walk. I use a wheelchair and my family worries because of some health issues I have that I’ll be out with my dog and something may happen. with the road ID app my family knows right where I’m at and if I’m still for more than five minutes they get a text letting them know exactly where I am. With a simple app it puts my mind at ease and my family’s.

Great for tracking and safety

My husband and I use SafeBeacon when we ride. Our “guardians” can track us and if there’s a problem, they know right where we are. There’s a stationary alert feature that adds safety- we don’t use it now, but it did help one “guardian” know we had stopped and he called to make sure we were safe It’s also great for keeping track of miles ridden over a period of time along with speeds so we can compare our rides and see if we are getting better

Long time user!

Been using SafeBeacon since it was new/free and when the option to subscribe came up, I was happy to pay for it as it’s become something I use on every one of my runs/rides.

I prefer running when it’s dark out, since it’s less overwhelming sensory wise and makes for a more relaxing/enjoyable run, but the downside to that is that safety can be more of an issue.

Between the Road ID app and some self-defense items I take along, I feel I’m doing what I can to be safe (outside of the basics: situational awareness, being able to hear my environment, and running in well-lit, safer areas that I know well and can navigate in emergencies - being female is fun, right?).

My one ask? Can you give us the option to turn SafeBeacon icon orange? It was much easier for me to quickly locate SafeBeacon when it didn’t blend in with everything around it!

Peace of mind when out alone

I have used the original and now the new app for years now. It was the only solution I found that would send an alert to someone if I stopped moving for 5 minutes and show them where I was last. I was able to retain my history of runs and walks during the upgrade to the new app, by just using the same email for the accounts when they migrated as the instructions said. I used to run this in parallel with MapMyRun which I used to track my stats and participate in challenges.

Essential safety equipment

I run trails, which means there are several risks: - Unfriendly rocks. Trip twist fall. - Bobcat - Coyote I’m a transgender feminine person which means humans can be at risk as well, although I’ve never seen it personally. I use SafeBeacon to keep my wife informed of where I am. It gives her the confidence that if something happens she’ll know and can act. It also helps prevent my overconfidence won’t get me into serious trouble, hopefully. I have SafeBeacon set up to notify her phone and my phone at start and finish. That way, I know when it’s texting and what is texting.

That alarm is serious!

My mom and I share routes, see maps of my walk/run. If your phone is still for too long, it will blare an alarm to your speaker or ear piece, and notify those you added after 5 minutes. You can easily press SOS if you do need help. I'm not sure after how long it will contact emergency services for you.

Your invitees do not have to download SafeBeacon .
