Clock Alarm, Where Did You Go?!!!

This is another reason I’m getting rid of my iPhone. I can Never depend on this this app or alarm to work any longer! I’m lucky if the alarm setting even shows up on the screen. There’s No Sound on the alarm anymore! Except, that is, for times I don’t have the alarm set! It just seems to go off randomly now. I open Clock to check if I set an alarm for a reason, but nope, no time set for the annoying random alarm. This is ridiculous. I now have to ask my husband to set his alarm for me. I also use the calendar alert for my alarm this app I’ve tried everything and still can’t get this alarm to work anymore. There have been too many important appointments I’ve missed or have been very late for. Now, I lose sleep worrying that I’ll oversleep. Like today. I’m up two hours earlier because- you guessed it- my alarm didn’t go off again! Sometimes it doesn’t even show up on the screen until I open Clock . Then, it shows it went off and is in snooze. Of course, with no sound to alert me. iPhone and Apple are gong downhill instead of improving their technology. Bye bye, Apple Products.

Outdated. Nearly cost me my job

Clock hasn’t changed in what feels like years. As of late, both my girlfriend and I have noticed (once we wake up late) that our alarms are “going off” but are completely silent. This has led to either or both of us being late to work; the worst was when I had set multiple alarms for a day I was supposed to get up at 06:00 for my 07:30 shift and I didn’t wake up until 11:00 because my alarms, I assume, canceled each other out and rang completely silently. I never write reviews because I find a way to just cope or replace the thing driving me insane but I’ve had this problem before (it only recently with the iOS 16 update started happening almost regularly) and Apple is a multibillion dollar business, you can afford a little investigation into your this app app instead of worrying about what minute feature you’re going to change on the last model of iPhone to release the “new and improved” one.

And don’t even ask if my ringer is on/off/turned up all the way etc I am part of the generation that was born glued to a screen I know a thing or two about operating technology. Clock is terrible and desperately needs a refresh.

Not thought through

The this app is a simply concept, and there are so many good features that Apple has on it, but it’s honestly outweighed by the bad, most of their alarms are extremely quiet, like the default for instance, and even at full volume, I’ve slept through it more times than I have fingers (wouldn’t be surprised if it was more than my toes too) so naturally to fix this, I just was going to change the alarm sound, well that’s simply enough in its on, but you can’t set one as a default, so each and every single alarm you set, you have to change the alarm sound. Which might sound just slightly tedious at first, but if you’re like me, you’d probably need alarms for more than just waking up, and even if you didn’t, you probably use more than one alarm a day. So picture this, you have your alarm to wake up, your alarm for when you need to get going soon, and one to know when to leave. With each one, you have to go through meticulously long set of steps just to change the song. And god forbid you want one that’s different then the weird assortment of jingles and jangles Apple has prepared for you. I had to download four different apps, and wait for downloading for almost an entire day just to get a Steven universe song as my alarm sound.

Managed to ruin a simple timer app!

Wow iOS 17 totally ruined the timer portion of Clock! First off all, allow us to set a default alarm sound when the timer goes off instead of forcing it to default to the “radial” tone when setting a timer with Siri. The radial tone is not loud enough and setting timers is a common task I have Siri do. Super annoying. Second, please give us the option to disable the timer history. I have absolutely no use for this and it just clutters the page with extra stuff I have to read through to make sure I’m clicking the right thing. I literally clear the history everytime I set a timer now to clear the screen up, and this has become a super annoying task. Maybe these features are helpful to some people, but you could easily give us the option to set it up either way. Third, when perusing the various alarm sounds list and selecting your desired sound, the phone plays the alert at full volume without any obvious way to make the sound stop. This is annoying to others in your vicinity. Maybe set it up so that it doesn’t play a sound sample unless you ask it to. Just some suggestions. The previous version worked perfect and had the Apple simplicity to it.

kinda bad....

so obviously Clock was on my phone when i got it and i never really used this app much till after some weeks i finally had school and family events to go to... WHY when i set this timer it NEVER went off? when i set it to small times like 5 minutes yeah, it goes off but when i want to take a 10 minute nap i wont even go off?!? im not a deep sleeper i wake up to hearing a small creak in the floor but when i fall asleep, i will sleep to 10am to 7pm, and everytime i wake up i see that the alarm was either MUTED? or just completely not on? but this time i had to go to my doctors appointment but i didn't get enough sleep last night so i wanted to take a QUICK nap i set a whole bunch of alarms made sure i took my phone off silent, set my volume alll the way up, got the most ANNOYING alarm and when i tell you.... THIS ALARM DID NOT GO OFF AND I ALMOST MISSED MY DOCTORS APPOINTMENT thanks to my friend for waking me up, this alarm was supposed to go off at 3:30pm but nooooo it wanted to take a nap too😭 i ended up getting there at freaking 4 like 50 smth but this alarm is soo annoying i dont understand why it has so many good reviews

Alarm mostly useless

I’ve had iPhones since revision S4, and always had a good, dependable alarm as part of the this app app. Over the last year and a half, the alarm would come on loud, then immediately reduce the volume to minimum which, to say the least is almost inaudible. Hitting the snooze button, sometimes it will go to moderate volume; other times it would remain at minimum volume. I am hard of hearing, and cannot hear the alarm go off when the volume minimizes. Also, I could care less about the World this app because I don’t travel out of the country, yet every time I touch Clock , the world this app is the first thing I see. I’m sure I’m not the only one who doesn’t travel outside the country. There should be a way to delete it, but there is none. As for the alarm volume, I keep hoping a fix will come in one of the phone updates. Judging from the dates on these negative reviews, along with no response from Apple, makes it pretty clear that they don’t bother to read these reviews. The Lock app will remain on my phone for now because of the timers. As soon as I find a good, dependable app, the Apple this app app will go bye-bye.

An Alarm App that doesn’t make noise

I have been late for work, taken naps for way longer than I wanted, forgotten about events, etc because about 90% of the time the alarms don’t make noise. I’ve tried all the suggestions I found online but nothing changes it. It was a problem on my last 2 iPhones as well, but at least with them it was around 50/50 if the alarm made noise or not.
I specifically say “made noise” because my alarms still go off, they just are a notification that makes no sound. This morning for example I set my alarm for 9am, and woke up at 10am to the sound of receiving a text. When I looked at my phone on the top it showed my alarm going off since 9am and it was snoozed multiple times, and when it did go off there was no noise or vibration. I’m not just snoozing it in my sleep, I don’t do that kinda stuff and even if I did, my phone is about 8 feet away from my bed so I can’t reach it in my sleep.
I feel like “this app” should be one of the most basic apps to put on a device and this one doesn’t work. It hasn’t worked for years. Id highly suggest downloading another app or using an alarm this app.

Apple please fix your App!

For months now the this app app that comes standard in the iPhone has been glitching for me which is causing me to wake up late for work. I have my alarm set for 5:30am which goes off, but like many other people, it takes me a little longer to wake up than just one alarm so I snooze until around 6:30. I hit the snooze after the first initial alarm goes off but then nothing else happens after the 9 minute snooze. It shows that it’s going off but no sounds or alerts are made. I’ve done everything I could to try and remedy this. I’ve tried deleting the alarm and making a new one but to no avail. I’ve even taken my phone to the Apple store and they seemed to have fixed it but it did nothing. If you are reading this review and are having similar issues, you’re not the only one. Apple needs to update and completely overhaul Clock. I was honestly surprised and somewhat relieved to find out from all the other poor reviews that I’m not the only one suffering from this. This does not look good coming from Apple who expects us to pay top dollar for a product that can’t deliver properly. It’s truly a shame. Hopefully they will fix this sooner than later.

You’re tracking my sleep?

I had to wake up at a certain time so turned the alarm this app on, and surprise, the recent update had changed everything. The alarm was now in the health app. I had to set a sleep/wake schedule and when I tried the new ringtones I couldn’t hear them very well. I set it for the loudest available, but I didn’t hear the alarm. I checked Clock and it turned out it tracked my sleep, noting that I had been up to use the bathroom and another time I simply woke for a minute and then went back to sleep. I didn’t give permission for my sleep to be tracked. I’m 70 years old and don’t need to be told to get 8 hours of sleep per night, I’ve been sleeping fine without apple’s tracking me for a very long time. I don’t need to know how long I was in the bathroom and neither does Apple. I don’t give permission to have my sleep data collected. I’m partially deaf and need a loud alarm, not these soft little tones that apparently someone thinks are okay. This update should be reversed. It’s just a real intrusive and ineffective app now. I won’t use it again and am considering getting rid of this phone in favor of a less “smart” spy phone this seems to have become.

Virtually Useless Timer and Alarm Clock

The timer and alarm this app features of the this app App on the iPad Pro are utterly useless. The sound is practically inaudible when the pre-set time comes for either of them to go off. I’ve tried every sound adjustment I can find, and contacted Apple Support, but to no avail. Also, the alerts for the Calendar are sorely lacking as well…no slide-in banners like my laptop does, and the sound alerts are pathetically weak.

If you can’t hear an alarm or timer, what’s the point, especially if you need it to wake up or to notify you of a important doctor’s appointment. Per other reviews I’ve read, it has been a known issue for some time and one that Apple appears not to be concerned with resolving.

For anyone who is considering the purchase of an iPad as a replacement for a laptop, don’t do it! You will almost certainly regret it as I surely have. The iPad iOS has substantial and glaring shortcomings (not to mention unstable behavior), and in its current state, doesn’t come close to replacing the performance and versatility of a Mac laptop. iPad Pros are obscenely overpriced media consumption toys, not work or task oriented, and the price points for them and their keyboard cases are virtually criminal.

Glitchy and Disorganized

I’ve used Clock for as long as I can remember and the long list of alarms I set for various reasons gets to be confusing. It would be cool if there was a way to group alarms for various tasks/activities into folders. It would also be nice to be able to set an alarm for a particular date rather than just the standard day of the week. For example, when I find out I need to wake up early for a flight 3 Fridays from now, why don’t I have the option to set the alarm for the day I need it to go off? The current option forces you to set it for every Friday. It’s a small but annoying thing. I know lots of people use calendar reminders for this reason, but why not build in a calendar to make the alarm app more functional?

Another issue I’ve noticed more recently is, the swipe to snooze is so touchy that more times than not the alarm doesn’t swipe down properly and turns off rather than showing the option to snooze or turn off. I now have to use multiple alarms, as I can never trust the snooze is going to work. I can’t remember when exactly I started noticing this but I think it may have been after an update. Either way, after being a lifelong apple this app app user, I am considering deleting it and finding another one. I think Clock has just been neglected or de-prioritized and is in need of a little TLC by developers or more people are going to stop using it.

Glitch in the software

Within the past 2 months or so, I’ve noticed my songs that I have downloaded and selected (and used for years prior, mind you) will no longer play for my alarms. Instead, the default alarm is the only thing that will sound, and to wake up at 6:45 AM to that jarring noise is very off putting. I’ve noticed that some songs that I’ve downloaded recently will play, but these are not all the songs I want to be woken up by. I even tried calling the Apple helpline and they basically had me jerry-rig my phone with every version of the ol’ “unplug it and plug it back in” method and it did nothing. I’ve mentioned to them that this sounds like a software issue and I’m not sure that they reported it to Apple HQ. But over 1,000 people have had this same exact issue for about 2 or 3 updates now. As a Junior college student, this is crucial to my day to day routine and it needs to be fixed ASAP!

Also, the “snooze” and “stop” buttons are there for decoration. Because the alarm is just going to snooze itself regardless of what button you push

Clock keeps turning off my set alarms

I’ve overslept a number of times recently, in spite of setting an alarm. (Trying to remember when this started happening, but it was within this past year, I think.) I even started setting a backup alarm for 30 minutes later than the first, but still sometimes ended up waking late to find all alarms off. I’ve been wondering whether I have somehow in my sleep been managing to turn the alarms off rather than hitting snooze after they sound; however, I don’t always remember them having gone off at all. I finally just confirmed that it’s not me—it’s the this app app. I hit the snooze button for the first alarm, was awake enough to think to check on the alarms, and both the first alarm and the backup were on. I lay there waiting for the alarm to sound again, but it seemed to be taking longer than 9 minutes. Sure enough, checking the alarms again, both the alarm and the backup were turned OFF. I hadn’t touched anything since confirming they were both on just 15 minutes prior.

This is one-star behavior for a this app app; however, I gifted it two stars because the timer and stopwatch have continued to work well for me.

Clock

I use Clock for many things, timers, stopwatch etc. what I don’t use if for is an alarm because there are not enough features. I had to download a separate app for that, and I wish I didn’t have to do that.

Some simple suggestions would be to add options to the alarm like to set it for every other Thursday, or for a specific date. My other alarm does that, but I have to remember to open it before I go to sleep. Yours works even if my phone is silent and I forgot to set, but it has to be for every Thursday, when the alarm I might need is for a meeting or a flight that is 3 weeks or a month away. And if my alarm is to remind me of something during the day, unless I keep the other app open all day, it won’t work. Yours on the other hand, works no matter what. Reminders and calendar events don’t always work because they don’t make enough noise. If I’m mowing the lawn or feeding the animals I’ll probably miss it because it will make a small noise and then just stay on my phone, but if I don’t look at it till I come back in the house to wash my hands, then I’ve missed it.

Hope to see some updates soon, otherwise, everything else works pretty good.

Just not great

I recently switched from using an LG phone to now an IPhone and I have to say Clock this app app is really lack lustre. You can’t customise like anything and there is no way to change the settings. first off you there is no customising the snooze, the first time it happened I realised that it was much longer than any other app I had used (good thing I didn’t have anything to do that morning because I would have been late). secondly you can’t use a song as the alarm sound unless you use apple music as someone who doesn’t use apple music and has music downloaded onto my phone it would be nice if I could use that as an alarm sound even though Im not paying specifically for apples subscription service. finally this is just a small thing but I feel like it should say how many hours you alarm is set for. I feel like this is just a nice feature where you can confirm you have set the time correctly and are not going to be screwed over by miss setting the time
Clock does functionally work but there are definitely things that can be done to make it better and work better for those who are using it

Didn’t know a clock app could be lacking in features until now

I like the look and feel of Clock and it’s widgets, but it feels like it’s lacking some basic features.

A bigger this app display for a single time zone would be nice for when I want to have a larger this app with seconds in view. My current built in options are the Lock Screen this app, which doesn’t include seconds; or the this app widget, which shows the sort of this app I’d like, but is smaller than I’d prefer for a sort of idle viewing. A screen spanning view and a single this app widget that was double the size would be an appreciated feature.

I was also surprised to learn that Clock doesn’t allow for multiple timers or stopwatches at once and the ability to attach a label to such. The former especially would be a desirable feature. I’m using multiple timers at once in the kitchen, for example, and as it stands I have to use a separate device with that ability. It’s nice to have a separate device for that, I suppose, but I’d rather have the choice than be required.

I get that these are features that are likely available with a third party app, but these strike me as some particularly basic features to be missing out on in a built in this app app. Clock remains serviceable for what functions it has, but I’d much rather use Clock and only Clock instead of supplementing basic functionality with additional third party apps.

Could Definitely Be Better

I’ve used Clock for the majority of my life and it’s always worked fine, however it could definitely be better with a few adjustments

For starters, Clock needs a way to group all of your alarms into categories. I play a lot of sports and am in a lot of extra clubs and groups and I have absolutely TONS of different alarms to make sure I’m on time for everything. HOWEVER, whenever those certain things end for the year (i.e. football and/or wrestling) I always have to scroll through my alarms and try and turn off all of those specific alarms for those specific things and it’s always time-consuming and annoying. If you added a way to create categories and add alarms into set categories where you could turn them all on/off with a single click it would be SO much better.

Secondly, I’d like to be able to change how long an alarm can be snoozed for instead of only being able to snooze for 9 minutes at any given time. I get that I could just set my alarm at a different time, but I don’t always want to sleep late or wake up earlier depending on IF I want to snooze at all, and for how long.

I get that all of these are probably available on another app somewhere, but I can’t find one with these capabilities anywhere I’ve looked and , like I’ve said, I’ve been using Clock for the majority of my life. These adjustments would ultimately make Clock so much better than it is now.

Much needed feature

I’ve used Clock for many years now. I can’t live without my daily alarms bec of being just plain busy and being a care-giver for many years. Your customers would welcome a feature that eliminates the annoying fact of completing a daily task earlier than expected, only to have that alarm go off anyway! I don’t mind it when I’m by myself. It’s the people around me who get annoyed esp if I need the volume loud!

Now this happens often everyday. Say I completed an alarm to “take morning meds everyday at 9am” earlier than expected at 7am just once that week. I wish I could just silence it for just that day. I can’t just slide the alarm button off. I’ll forget to turn it back on! So people around me end up having to hear alarms I don’t need during that day if I completed my task early. Hope there’s a way to fix that to make mine and the people around me hear one less alarm go off! KkYes…I have that many alarms from 7a-12a! Thank you for years of keeping my world in order!

No more custom songs

2 Star Review
I used to be able to play my alarms with songs from iTunes but suddenly after the update it’s only playing the radar tune 😭PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP! I’ve uninstalled the this app and iTunes app and even created many test alarms. Only the default alarms work when you change them, but when I try to addy own choice song, it is selected but when the alarm plays, it only plays radar. 😭😭 my schedule has been terrible without the proper music stimulation. The default times just don’t cut it. I can’t find any other app that allows iTunes songs either, I keep getting errors or it just doesn’t show at all when I go to select it. Maybe it’s an iTunes issue? 😔

5 Star Review
UPDATE: I was able to resolve the issue!! It’s not enough to download your songs in iTunes, you also have to go into Apple Music and download them on there. After doing this, I was able to get the songs I wanted to play as an alarm. ✨ Definitely a tedious process if you have multiple songs you’ll be using. Thanks Apple 🙄 But I’m happy to have my alarms back. 😊

Not sure why all the bad reviews… 🤷🏻‍♀️

So I get that seeing the world this app first upon opening is a bit annoying. You’re ONE tap away from the alarm section though. One tap.
I haven’t had any issues with alarms not going off, and I’ve been able to set my own 30 second song clips to use via using the Garage Band app to import a song clip and transfer it to my Apple ringtones. The songs are more than loud enough. I love that I can set multiple alarms and name then separate things, and they always go off (like clockwork, lol) without fail.
I admit that it would be nice to be able to set one alarm for a specific date but you can use the calendar notification for those types of occasions.
Overall I’m very happy with Clock , though if this changes in the future I will come and update my review. (Oh and for reference, I’m using an iPhone XR.)
