Food has arrived several times warm or in damaged individual containers that were broken open due to the poor packing of the items in the shipping box.
Often the shipping boxes arrive completely opened and crushed or otherwise damaged.
Customer support only allows you to file an email complaint and then you have to wait for a response, forcing you to invest even more time to something that takes away from your already busy day...
I started this service to make my life easier and it’s only made it harder because I now have to manage what should be a simple process of it ever went the way they advertise it to be.
this app doesn’t seem to care because it continued to happen long after multiple notifications of the issues.
First time ordering. Received my order and all seemed okay at first but then noticed the bread I received arrived in a totally ripped bag. Also they gave me pork instead of chicken which I can’t eat. So two of my meal recipes (4 meals total) I couldn’t make. The frustrating thing is rather then reimburse you for the meal that you can no longer make they only refund you for the particular item. What am I supposed to do with rice and peppers if I have no meat? Why should I pay for those items when they serve no purpose to me? What a scam company. I’ll be sure to dispute this charge since they don’t want to do the right thing.
Only five people reviewing so far and 4.9 stars. Well, I can say the reviews are fake because Hungryroot doesn’t even work yet. It invites you to “choose your free gift” and nothing happens. You can choose “take the quiz” and nothing happens. Assuming if I sign up nothing will happen.
The commercial on tv looks good though! And the pictures look very fresh and vegan or whatever they’re supposed to be.
Don’t get me wrong, I assume this is a real company since they obviously have enough money to have a professional commercial, but Hungryroot isn’t production-ready yet and the reviews are fake so it’s a little sketchy. Not sure I’d be giving these folks my payment information just for nothing to happen.
I was really torn about rating. I mean on one hand, ANY app working or not is better than something I could make because I have no idea how to make an app; on the other hand I thought I should rate low to balance out the false highs. Still, there was obviously some effort put into it so balanced out that should be good for two stars. If the company gets up and running they’ll get good reviews that don’t have to be faked.
very expensive and if you cancel or try to cancel it will be very difficult and they'll do everything to make you put it on hold. If you put your account on hold, they reactivate and process purchases with your card without your confirmation. They refuse to refund anything and they don't have a customer service department.

The this app app has made a huge difference in ordering my meals! I’ve been a subscriber for over a year and never realized how annoying it was to have to use my mobile browser to update my delivery every week. I’m a huge fan of Hungryroot for modifying upcoming orders, editing my cart, and shopping for groceries. I would like to see an update that incorporates the cookbook, so that you can save favorite recipes and reorder favorite meals quicker. There are also times that I already have key ingredients at home and I just want to add one or two items from a recipe. I would love to see a feature where you can add these individual items directly from the recipes page instead of having to search each one in the grocery page. All that being said, I love this app! It has saved me so much time in the kitchen!
This is leaps and bounds better than using the website. I’d love the option to mark items as a “favorite” though. More importantly, I’d love to be able to mark recipes as “want to try” so I can remember from week to week. Would help immensely when my box gets too full for me to keep adding!
I’ve done a few other delivery services before, but this is the best. The food is all amazing and fresh, and sooo easy and manageable. If you’re on the fence, JUST DO IT. This has been a game changer for me. Customer service is absolutely top notch.
I’ve been working from home since COVID and I swear that I would never eat lunch if it wasn’t for this app. With this app I always have healthy snacks and can cook an amazing healthy delicious lunch in honest to god 10 mins. Such a game changer!
The food is always fresh and the recipes make life much easier. I’m pescatarian and dairy free and love how many options there are for me vs. other services I’ve tried. When I forget to customize my delivery I’m always pleasantly surprised by the things I get!

Getting groceries from this app has made it so much easier for me and my husband to eat healthy day-to-day, with very little time in the kitchen / planning what to eat. The food is delicious (the sauces are especially great - I love the Spinach Artichoke), and the recipes are super quick, easy and creative.
I was going to give them 2 weeks before I canceled but I just put in my 3rd order because I’m so impressed! The quality is excellent and the recipes are super simple to put together. I’m all about convenience and healthy ingredients so I give this app 5 stars!
The first two weeks I didn’t get my delivery on time, in fact the first one was 4 days late & the 2nd one was 5 days late but it was finally straightened out, thank you this app!! So far I love the food, I’m a vegan & the prep is so easy. I’m also 65 & a nurse so I’m slowing down some. It’s nice having the meals at my fingertips.
I have been receiving your weekly groceries for years and it never disappoints! Pork Carnitas and Sous Vide Chicken are staples in my house. After a long day of work, it takes 30min to whip up 3 dishes for our family, and my kid actually finishes their plates!
And now that we have this amazing app which makes it so much easier to manage my orders and track the delivers, we love this app even more!

I’ve been using the this app web version for months and was super excited to see they launched an iOS app. So far it’s been a lot easier to navigate and select my meals and groceries. Love that if I forgot something I can just pop into Hungryroot before the cut-off and add it!
Love Hungryroot and company. Hungryroot is easy to use and hungry root makes it easy to eat healthy. I’ve tried other meal delivery sites and was not impressed with the quality of food or the variety. This has so much variety and can replace recipes with groceries if you like. Makes eating healthy food easier and love that most recipes take less than 30 minutes. 95% of what I’ve tried I love.
Going to the grocery store used to be the most daunting part of my week until I started using this app. I’ve gotten time back on my weekends and I don’t even have to think about what my grocery list is because they take care of it all for me. The convenience isn’t even my favorite part… the food is! Awesome recipes, amazing selection of grocery items. Couldn’t recommend it enough.
It took me quite some time to pull the trigger on a meal delivery service it seemed unlikely that some company would be on a target with my specific preferences and dietary restrictions (dairy free). We chose hungry root because they marketed healthier options which is in line with our primary diets. This has really taken the guess work out of meal planning and we are closing on our first week and have not had one disappointing dish! Thank you so much!
I love this service. I answered all of the questions about my tastes and needs and they send me groceries with recipes every week without me lifting a finger. Sometimes I decide to change a couple of things that their algorithm chose for me but it’s amazing how well they guess what I’ll like.
Truly love this service!! I get new groceries that I like delivered to my house each week with easy to follow recipes. It’s nice to know there’s always a healthy and exciting meal waiting at home
