Trend Micro ScamCheck Reviews

I used to love TrendMicroScamCheck and recommend it to everybody. It was great filtering text messages by keyword plus you got a phone number. You could use to give out so you didn’t have to give out yours. First, the phone number randomly went away, but it was still OK because you were able to filter text. Now you can’t even use TrendMicroScamCheck . I’ve tried to delete it and re-download, but it no longer works.

Too bad, it was a good app and they went and ruined it

Don’t waste your time on it

I installed this to try to decrease the number of spam calls that I get and also the text messages. As soon as I installed TrendMicroScamCheck , I ended up getting 4 to 5 spam calls a day, even when I set TrendMicroScamCheck to block those calls and texts. As soon as I deleted TrendMicroScamCheck from my phone, the calls stopped. I have no idea why more calls would come through when TrendMicroScamCheck was installed and then it would stop after I deleted it. There must be some connection there. I did read some reviews about this. Take your chances. You may or may not experience the same thing. This didn’t do the job for me.

I saw that it was by TrendMicro which is at-least a recognizable name in security in addition to all the great reviews. So I gave it a shot since RoboKiller was awful and the full version of Nomorobo is pretty pricey.

I was incredibly disappointed not only did it not work, but occasionally I would get notifications about other TrendMicro products. The self promotion I can accept because TrendMicroScamCheck is free free…but not when TrendMicroScamCheck doesn’t work.

I mean…it costs nothing so it’s worth trying, but overall I was not the slightest bit impressed.

TM Check does not block political texts nor can it select the messages for me to report it as spam. my spam has gotten worse and i’m sick of it. I’ve reported the spam to a company that’s supposed to be a legal defense against these things (or something!) and i haven’t seen any improvement. If I say stop to these messages it makes even MORE texts come in. I said stop once cuz TM wouldn’t block it and now pol texts are blowing up my phone morning noon and night. It really makes me wanna vote for literally NO ONE if they like badgering citizens so much. But TM Check? Does NOTHING for me anymore. Maybe it was good but it’s not stopping what’s happening to me.

I used to recommend TrendMicroScamCheck because I was getting a lot of spam calls. My upstairs neighbor hacked my network and sim swapped my phone number. About a week later I was alerted by my phone provider my new number was found on the Dark Web. I downloaded TrendMicroScamCheck and it worked 50/50. I ported my phone number and had no spam calls whatsoever until I redownloaded TrendMicroScamCheck. Almost instantly I started getting spam calls. I deleted TrendMicroScamCheck and they have stopped.

I've been using TM Check free version for a couple of years with great satisfaction. I updated TrendMicroScamCheck on iOS version 18.0 and it's terrible! I can't log in after updating due to a new log in window mandating a subscription. I'm ok with paying a subscription if I could log in! Every-time I try to register new, I receive the notice this account already exists. I was online with tech support chat window and was continually disconnected, I lost track after 8 disconnects. I checked my internet service and had no speed issues or connectivity in the area. The tech rep was not knowledgeable. I refer TrendMicroScamCheck to many people I know but after this disaster, I will not be referring.

I have not noticed any reduction in spam calls so not sure it is doing any good. I do find it annoying that it often gives me an alert so I open TrendMicroScamCheck and don’t see anything. Looks like it just wants me to set up text protection and her a 2nd number — not interested in either. Then the alert goes away. Kind of annoying. Thinking about deleting TrendMicroScamCheck since there doesn’t seem to be any reduction in spam calls.

Update: Just deleted TrendMicroScamCheck . I am sitting in the waiting room at a hospital while my wife is in surgery. I received a call that was TM verified as Timothy Christopher. No idea who that is so I ignored it. Later looked at the missed calls and recognized the phone number as the hospital’s number. The surgeon had called to give me an update on my wife and TM said it was verified as Timothy Christoper. No such person. Mislabeled by TM.

I’ve used the t mobile filter for a while, it was not great, but worked most of the times. But recently switched to Verizon, but their call filter is not free. So I tried this instead, but immediately after I switched to TrendMicroScamCheck, I am receiving more than 30 spam calls every single day, it is not as effective as the t-mobile spam filter, which only missed 1 or 2 spam calls every day.

In addition, i am not sure if it was just me, it seems that I have to manually enter the phone number in order to block them.

The fact that TrendMicroScamCheck is able to stop spam calls at all is a plus. I simply didn’t want a call blocking app that used call forwarding to an A.I. assistant. At best it is a call identifier when the phone rings. The number lookup is not very accurate. It has the usual blocking list and allowed list created by the user. There is some other stuff like text blocking. For that there are better apps out there (Junkman).

Works a lot better than it lets on. I had received no feedback from TrendMicroScamCheck that it was working, and the "filtered by tmcheck" folders in my messages were totally empty, so I deleted TrendMicroScamCheck . Suddenly I had 270 unread texts from like grocery stores and stuff. Reinstalled TrendMicroScamCheck from my iStore downloads list directly and the 270 texts disappeared again, but now it's claiming to be a free trial when it was simply a free service before and i'll probably lose coverage from TrendMicroScamCheck after who knows how long (doesn't say). Welp.

Before I was using TextKiller to end my spam texting and I hated that you would have to pay a monthly fee just to use it. I was also using RoboKiller too and then I knew that had a monthly fee too. But then I found this and no subscription required. So far so good. I like that TM Check has features like safe web browsing, spam calling blocker and lots of other things. my only one concern about TM Check is that it doesn’t automatically filter the messages and put them as blocked. Every time I want to block a number I have to use the “keyboard” and it gets annoying. So if you could please add in a automatic filter system that would be great.

I have tried some other apps like this one and this is literally the best one. Not only do they guide you through the process of activating it they help you through every step. It has been the most consistent and thorough spam blocker I’ve found. Highly recommended.

Great app its free and helps with message scams phone call scams and also information stealing websites it has a page for message filtering were you can filter the messages you receive and put them in your junk and wont give a notification but TM check is great totally recommend it.

A+ rating from this humble user….your app has been a godsend after simply trying to apply for a job, it seemed to have opened up the floodgates for spammers and scammers to my email….thanks to your app, after a couple of months of your monitoring, it seems to have rid me of most of them….thanks for keeping your app cost-free, it is much appreciated by retired folks like myself who are trying to scrape by on fixed incomes….I wish there were a safer means in which to inform oneself of available, legitimate employment without the “sharks smelling blood in the water”, but sadly, this seems to be a modern truth I have to learn how to deal with….

For years nothing I’ve tried has been able to get me off the political party text message spam lists. Nothing. TrendMicroScamCheck solved my problem immediately after I added a few quick rules! And it’s free! If unwanted political spam is driving you crazy you don’t have to change your phone number to end it. Just install this. Thanks Trend Micro!!!

My identity was stolen. The had opened 8 credit cards in my name using every bit of my personal information. Every bit. This wonderful amazing site has brought not only peace of mind but has kept all the scams away from my devices. They are free of pshing scams, numbers I can block, and keeps me updated as to potentially new scams. A company that finally got it right. Thank you thank you thank SMS. I can’t say enough about how amazing you are.

I hate political texts, and the fact that they are allowed to spam you without consequence and that forwarding to #SPAM does nothing because they are political spam text messages is super annoying. This works and at least sends them to junk. It will not let me report a spam text that comes with an image, not sure if that is by design or not. For now bulk edit and then delete 12 or more a day from Junk folder, so thanks for help keeping political spam out of my inbox.

Ok I have nothing to do with this company so this review is my experience. I was beyond overwhelmed with political texts. ALL DAY LONG! Why do they think harassing me is going to make me want to donate!! I was literally desperate. I paid for the Verizon filter $4 a month. It worked for a week and then they were back. Called Verizon they didn’t care. Cancelled that. Went reading reviews of Apps and this got great reviews. Granted I am only one day in with TM but HOLY Transformation I have not had ONE Spam text today! I’ll let you know if it keeps working. Finally some peace from the political madness!!!

I love this mobile application, because it gives me peace in mind when it comes to spam calls, and scam text messages. I love TrendMicroScamCheck too because as a individual who is blind individually impaired, it is 99% accessible and completely free and it protects my privacy. Thank you for all that you’ve done. I am noticing also as a voiceover user on iOS, that TrendMicroScamCheck has a unlabeled tab that might need to be labeled. that being said, I would be happy to make screen recordings, and take screenshots, and I will email them directly to the email address that you gave. Thank you.

I haven’t had a chance to actually see how this is working, but I’ll give it 5 stars for starters- when I saw the name Trend Micro while searching for a spam-fighting app, I knew this was going to be a good one because Trend Micro took awesome care of my desktop computers in the past! So I will be back to let you know how it’s working!
