They switched off the car while I was at a gas station

Horrible customer service experience and frankly dangerous service. I was returning the car and the car switched off because I was 10 minutes late returning the car while at a busy gas station. I thus blocked traffic for about 10 minutes while I had to argue with a customer rep to turn car back on who, instead of sympathizing, kept telling me that I’d have to pay a day extra. After complaining about the experience, Liigu waived the extra day but put in a late charge that was basically the same amount.

The rental experience was otherwise decent, although frankly the lack of in person customer support is just not worth it, and the keyless approach means you have to have your phone charged or be in cell service at all times to make it work. That and the horrible, stressful return experience, slow customer service response times, and lack of sympathy mean that it’s far better to just use a normal rental car service.

Crazy charges for impossible to find damage.

I picked up my car in the middle of the night. It was parked in an unlit parking lot at the side of a hill so I had to use my phone to see any damage and couldn’t access the front of the car except by leaning over from the side. They later charged me about 200 bucks for a 1 inch scratch on the *underside* of the front bumper, plus a 45 euro administrative fee. I did not cause this scratch, and there’s no way I could have seen it except in bright daylight with full access to the front of the car and getting down on my belly. Its a ludicrously stringent policy and they probably choose dark parking lots just to make it easier to overcharge people for damage they didn’t cause. I won’t rent from them again and recommend you don’t either unless you want to get charged for damage other people caused or for every tiny scratch from gravel or the like.

Scam- your deposit will be stolen

Please heed this review. I booked with them in September of this year. It is now December and I have yet to be refunded my deposit. There were no problems during my rental period. They just straight up charged my card and haven’t returned the deposit amount. They don’t tell you in advance how much they are charging as a deposit nor do they make it evident that a deposit would be charged in the first place. I have lost $1600 due to this company. I encourage you to look up other reviews on liigu.
