Afterglow: Ask, Help, and Chat Reviews

I wrote a review on here without using Afterglow that often, but here’s the truth despite the positive reviews. Afterglow is good, I like it a lot but there is a bunch of issues with people treating this like a dating app and overstepping their boundaries. I’ve had so many people try to “help” me when all I wanted to was vent about whatever is on my mind. I’ve had people try to date or treat me as a therapist. I’m only one person and that isn’t my job. There is also quite a few triggering topics on here and I was it was it’s own separate category for those who just want to talk about random things, or for those who are seeking help. People think because you’re on Afterglow then automatically you want help and that’s not how it works. If you display you want help then that’s different but on some of my letters I was just rambling. I wish people talked more about HOW people treat Afterglow and how some have underlying intentions. I’ve had a guy barely talk with someone on Afterglow and try to get a romantic relationship out of it and then say “…she blocked me. I don’t know why. I’m a good guy. I always get hurt. Etc.” and things like that can be overwhelming ESPECIALLY to younger and impressionable people! It’s a good app but there is so much more need of improvement and filters.

You can only contact five people today I haven’t even contacted anybody today but apparently I contacted five people today even though I haven’t talk to anybody and there’s limits Afterglow used to be really good but I’m guessing it’s going downhill not only that but it’s supposed to be about helping people place where you can talk with people about social anxiety and things like that how are you supposed to do that if Afterglow doesn’t let you and only want you to be able to talk to five people a day what if somebody really needs to talk to somebody because they are super depressed and that could be A thing that could change their life forever no I’m giving this one star I’d give this zero stars if I was able I hope the creators reach out and explain their actions doing this Afterglow used to be good as I said but it looks like it’s going downhill with these stupid restrictions

I tried Afterglow for a couple days. I met a few great people. A few. It’s probably not best for the easily triggered or sensitive as you will be bombarded by posts. There are genuine interactions and people that just want you to boost their stats for badges. I found it overwhelming in itself. No filters for triggering subject matter really. I’m sure it was created with the best of intentions but it is really lacking in any actual help for the ones that need it. If all you want is a place for platitudes and venting so strangers can tell you that everything will be okay, this will probably work for you. If you need real actual help this is NOT IT.

the art style on Afterglow is so pretty and the aesthetic definitely feels like home for me. the music also feels like a lullaby. for me personally it’s ‘lazy morning’ that makes me really relaxed whenever i hear it. the diary is also an honorable mention, because it gives you a place to easily write out your thoughts when you need to, and boy is that something i’m gonna need.

there is a major downside though. there should be an option for a trigger warning or to separate certain topics from the normal posts. i opened Afterglow for one second for the very first time and already saw so many people saying they want to off themselves. it was really disheartening.

other than that, i’ve always wanted an app like this and the fact that it’s gonna have a mood tracker soon at the time of writing this?? it’s wonderful, it’s everything i’ve ever wanted. i sincerely thank you for making Afterglow. i’m gonna be using it quite a bit i think.

This is honestly a great app and not flooded with trolls or bad people, at least not yet. People can share and be open about what their feeling and get good feedback. I work in mental health and I have talked about Afterglow with others so people can connect in a therapeutic, healthy way. It’s wonderful to have good, supportive people to talk to.
The team is also updating things on it regularly so there is quite a bit more on there then when it first stared. Im looking forward to seeing what they add next :-)

Afterglow has really opened a positive world up to me when I thought there wasn’t such a thing. I’m eternally grateful to everyone on Afterglow and the creators of it. The people here are so kind and so supportive, this space is really the most healthy one i’ve ever been in. Download Afterglow, seriously! It’s a true life game changer, I can tell this is helping my growing and healing process already and I just downloaded it today! ✨⚡️

I genuinely love Afterglow, I forgot where I discovered it from probably on social media but something in me just gravitated towards it. I downloaded it and honestly didn’t touch it for a few days. After remembering it I opened and explored it and realized how beautiful Afterglow was from the layout of Afterglow to the people it contained. There is a space for everyone and it’s a beautiful place to just find inspiration and comfort or to share some. Sometimes im not even realizing how many people I’m sharing wisdom with it’s so easy like talking to friends. They make it very comfortable and safe for u to open up about anything and make friends. I haven’t seen any sort of judgement or criticism which is awesome anything of the sort comes off as friendly advice and with love and that’s all anyone can ask for. 10/10 app. Can’t wait to see it develop more. & u can tell the creators really care about the development of Afterglow and serving the people which is so nice.

This is my first time ever writing a review but Afterglow is well deserving of 5 stars. While it may have quirks to it their moderator staff does an excellent job about keeping the purity of Afterglow ! I do think that there some things that could be added like friends tab after socializing with people in your inbox for so long it becomes quite clustered and being able to add people would be very convenient!

Found Afterglow on Facebook and clicked because I loved the artwork. This is a very relaxing app with a wholesome and sweet community. Post and vent about your mental health and people will either respond in a group chat or directly. The public post option is nice because you don’t feel intimidated by one on one conversations like you might with other apps. My only suggestion would be that some more decorations and maybe customization options.

I absolutely adore the use of voice recordings for Afterglow. I’ve used a service like this before that was all text and it was still nice but it didn’t feel nearly as personal and real as hearing peoples voices does. The community is amazing and I’ve already met so many amazing people who’ve made me so much happier just by reaching out in the smallest ways. Just knowing there’s someone out there in the world who heard my voice and wanted to connect with me means a lot.
Only one thing I would add is better sound settings. As much as I love the lofi music in the background it’s way louder than the recordings so I find myself constantly having to turn the volume up and down between listening to recordings and listening to the music. It’s nice that it mostly fades out while you listen to the recordings and there is an option to mute it entirely, but why aren’t there any other sound settings? I’d love to be able to adjust the volume of the music so it doesn’t feel so overwhelming when I finish listening to a recording, and that feels like such a basic feature to leave out.

I found Afterglow through an add on Instagram. I had quit social media apps for a few years because I found that I didn’t feel comfortable in those communities and I had encountered a lot of toxicity. this app is a safe place where you can share your thoughts without judgement and be surrounded by positivity as well as affirmations. I would recommend Afterglow to anyone who struggles to put their thoughts out there as you don’t have to worry about judgment and you can also remain anonymous while doing so.

We all need a comforting safe space where we can receive advice and support. People are very kind on here. You can reach out to others through different community topics, with encouraging words or even a voice message too if you’d like.

I like the soundtrack of music playing in the background with different nature sounds to choose from, with locations like a beach or a cozy cabin. The colors in Afterglow are a soothing sunset orange just like the little icon.

I think the creators behind Afterglow really took the time to make it creative and organized.

I would recommend it to anyone who struggles with loneliness or depression. People are real on here about life and struggles, something that is refreshing to have nowadays. It’s good if you need a break from social media sites with all the comparison to know you aren’t alone in feeling alone. People do care.

Really like Afterglow and how it’s set up. People need to talk especially now when there is a lack of connection with covid . This gives people an opportunity to talk to one another about any and everything. This platform is strict to make sure you post only positive comments and be respectful to one another . Also so there is only good vibes being given it really makes them happy and cheers people up. Whoever thought this up thank you! People need this right now .

I love Afterglow! Really helps me when I’m dealing with difficult feelings and I’ve even made a few friends on it! However notifications no longer work. I’ve restarted my phone, tried going to settings and turned notifications off and then on. But nothing :( it’s frustrating because I’d like to give more timely responses to my friends or whoever on Afterglow but I can’t get notifications in order to do that!

(To clarify: I’m talking about getting notifications when I’m outside of Afterglow ).

Afterglow have been a healer to me and I’m quite sure millions of other people. I have communicated with all sort of people around the world. Afterglow provide a platforms for individuals to share their views on how to overcome some of the worse situations you can imaginable to man. There is relaxing music that plays on the site in room to take you to a place make you feel as you in their environment. An environment were you are not judge , you are excepted and natured with positively and news with many topics to talk about, I encourage you to try , you might want to put your phone awards.

All I can say is “blessings in disguise “, I’m sure that many can relate & resonate, but I never thought that Afterglow would be a part of my Destiny! Ironically, I just self coined the name #SheJoseph; simply because of the relatedness with the #BlackSheep treatment, etc. And here it is God sends Joseph Romano (via Afterglow), with a post/story that instantly connected to my spirit, and right off I took on the assignment to wanna help him get through what he’s going through. I’m excited to help him, because I see he’s experiencing the same things I am, so me giving him pointers, etc, as I journey through this healing!

I usually never put reviews on apps. But let me just say Afterglow is amazing. I did have an encounter with someone really awful on the first day but please please please get Afterglow. It’s full of people who care and are there to listen. I’ve been struggling with depression since I was 6. It’s been a long journey. People here listen and care. If you have mental illness or just want someone to listen, get Afterglow. It really is a life changer.
To the genius who made Afterglow, thank you so much. It has helped all of us.

*just one tip, I wish we had more characters for typing. Sometimes I’m in the middle of typing something and it cuts me off.*

Afterglow has been amazing so far. The peacefulness of it, the people, the music, all of it. It seems like a place you can just unwind and chill out with other people. And the best part is that you don’t have to pay anything which is strange cause there are no ads or anything. I ain’t complaining though cause to know that this is a free place is amazing. If there was more music that would be nice but in general I love the music and everything about Afterglow. That’s all I have to say, see you there. :)

Afterglow gave me a very warm fuzzy feeling as I tried it, the music and design took me to a mini zen in my own phone and allowed me to navigate through people’s thoughts and experiences!

I wish I was able to add a like for each time. Heard an audio and genuinely learned something from it!

This will be my bedtime app where I listen to some people sharbg their experiences and listen to some meditation music!

It’s definitely unique. I do enjoy podcast or stories and I think I would enjoy to choose other stories to listen to more so than sharing my own. I do know that there are times when I am in the mood to tell a good positive story or funny story and others tend to enjoy them. I could see this idea really taking hold.
