Need to get somewhere? better start trying to book a ride 1.5 hrs in advance, takes forever to get to you, rides are never available, and drivers will just make random stops to get other people, throwing off the ETA by up to 30 minutes. Sounds good on paper, terrible execution.
I’ve been trying to get a ride for about 30 minutes and still haven’t been able to get a ride. There’s no way that you guys are on high demand all that time.
SalemSkipper is amazing. It’s so affordable to use in Salem, however the reason is it getting two stars because when you have to be somewhere they aren’t considerate that you need to go somewhere. Either you call it 5 mins before or even an hour. The drives do not try to do the best for time. If you don’t have any deadlines on time SalemSkipper is great, but if you have to be somewhere like work not the best!
The only thing going for this service is the price. If you need to be somewhere on time, make sure you plan at least 45 minutes ahead. Also, this service only picks you up at intersections and the 2-3 actual good drivers are overshadowed by the unprofessional and impatient bad drivers that give you less than 2 minutes to get to your pickup point before they drive off. Book this service at your own risk.
Good cost, but the drivers frequently show up to the wrong location and it takes anywhere from 30-45 minutes to get a ride. So you just waited an hour for 1 skipper then they leave 30 seconds after going to the wrong location forcing you to wait another 15 minutes. Id look for other ride share options
My first ride if day waspsr? I believe drove me. He made me get out now where my destination. I had to waste over 30 mins to find it !

It’s very frustrating relying on SalemSkipper to get to places that you need to be on time.
Multiple times the pick up location has changed and I have gone exactly where it is and no driver had shown up, the pick up gets cancelled and there’s no way to communicate in a chat or call the driver.
Awesome idea, good execution, and super affordable! I just wish there were more skippers on the road. It’s often all booked up or has a long wait time (25-40min). Especially during tourist season!
One issue I do have is skippers dropping off into roads. If I am on the left side, the driver will pull onto the right hand shoulder and open the left hand door into traffic for me. On busy Salem streets, this can be dangerous. I get the impression that they’re instructed to do this by some type of management, but it is concerning considering it is a main transport for students and the disabled here.
Waits are sometimes long at about 25 minutes. Sometimes I can’t book a ride at all when it’s busy. Other than
that it’s a great and affordable service!
Salem Skipper is a city sponsored public transportation program. As the title states, the service is ludicrously inexpensive as they often gift free rides and offer referrals for obtaining free rides. When you do pay, the $2 price point for anywhere in the town of Salem is hard to beat. The vehicles are spacious, making them good for larger parties or those doing laundry or grocery.
However, because if the limited number of cars and qualified drivers, the service is unreliable at peak hours. Wait times will often be in the 20-30 minute range and that’s if you can even find a car to begin with.
In spite of this, when the stars align and the service works as intended, it is very much a life saver and makes one’s commute or errands just a bit easier.
Really love this service, would hate to see it go.

If you need to be somewhere quickly or at an exact time it’s not the best, but if you’re flexible on time it’s great!

SalemSkipper should allow people to get dropped off a little out of bounds. It would be easier to get to work as not all of us work in Salem. .
The Salem Skipper is an incredible resource for Salem residents there is a young driver that is Lebanese I believe his name is Hassam I may be wrong about his name but he’s a valued driver he is very personable he shows riders incredible customer service as well as he’s polite and considerate
Skipper is wonderful saving money and the clock tells you how long before driver gets to you just would be better if they picked up at exact location instead of walking to get picked up
As said in the title: I was told about SalemSkipper/service last year and was curious but never gave it a try. I wish I did. I would have saved hundreds by now! I don’t know how this service works, BUT THANK YOU.
The bag was never found but someone did look fir me though, so overall service is pretty good, but the location sometimes where they pick you up at is father from the destination in which you were getting dropped off at or picked up from.
Skipper is the better ride than any of the cabs pleasant drivers clean cars
