Constant PVP is stupid

As several other reviews have mention, this game can be fun until it is time for the server events that the whales come out and obliterate all of us who haven’t spent tons of money for rapid advancement. I just finally had healed everything from the last event and got attacked twice be players I had no chance against in the space of an hour. Now I will spend the next month trying to heal everything that needs to be just to get screwed again next month. You really need to either cap the number of casualties that can be incurred, the number of times that a player can be attacked in an event or a limit for how much higher level character can attack. For example, my level 35 characters that are my base defenders, shouldn’t be able to be attacked by character that are at level 80+. The difference allowed should be no more than 10 levels. Ideally, all three of these changes should be implemented to improve player enjoyment. The number of battlebarge level 1 and 2 players on the servers should show that a lot of people quit playing when they experience this type of thing and I’m sure doesn’t lead to an expanding player base. In fact, I’m betting the player base is probably shrinking as people get frustrated with this type of thing. I’ve almost walked away from this game multiple times since I started in August and may yet do so if something isn’t done to address the chronic unfairness in the game.

Temper Your Expectations

I’ve played probably 6-7 different games within this base-building genre and all of them have been decently enjoyable, up until a certain point at least. There’s something fun about the steady, overly-simplistic amassing of resources while upgrading buildings at a constant pace. While this type of “gameplay” won’t appeal to everyone, in my opinion these types of games are enjoyable to a certain degree. However, all of these games suffer from the same fatal flaw: whales. Once the newbie shield is gone you’ll either have to fork over real money to re-activate it (and keep it active) or subject yourself to constant abuse by server whales who can single-handedly while you and your buddies clean in one fell swoop. That’s when the “fun” stops, thus causing most players to delete Warhammer40000 . At the time of me writing this my newbie shield is still up and I’ve enough in-game resources to keep said shield activated for another couple of weeks. As such, I’m able to say (now, at least) that this title is pretty fun and is also quite sharp looking. It’s the same engine as State of Survival so the UI / rewards systems are identical. It’s a fun game to check in on now & again, but I know full well the lifespan of this game on my phone is already a short one.

Good but could be better.

I like the game I really do and I’m glad they added some more chapters to choose from I’ll probably give this game a five star when they add the Space Wolves but it’s still a pay to advance game once you hit a certain spot in the campaign you have to upgrade your hero significantly I am on the third chapter of the campaign and all of my heroes are level 45 and I’m still having trouble with the first mission of chapter 3 and every time I failed the mission a bundle comes up saying if I buy this I’ll get a bunch of hero XP to put towards my hero to help me along my way I did this but after a while it was clear I needed to do it again you don’t get much XP from attacking other enemy bases(other players) don’t get me wrong the prices for these things aren’t that bad for what you get but it kind of gets repetitive after about the third time of paying $3.99 and you don’t get much XP from attacking chaos fleets and other things like that you get pretty much next to nothing for your hero when you do that which is a bit of a letdown because you would expect you to gain some XP but you pretty much only gain about 100 XP for each one of these chaos fleets you destroy.

Ok game, poor customer service, incompetent developers

This is purely Pay-2-win game. They claimed it is a balance game, no it really is not. Those with money to pay will be the ones who lead and kill other alliances. The whales make the rule. You either follow or get attacked all the time. They release updates often and each update always introduces one or more bugs. Instead of trying to fix the existing bugs, the developers simply ignore them. They rush to releases new updates for new events so that they can try to sell more crystal so people can advance and win the event. This game will require you to be online daily if you are in the an alliance with a bossy whale. You will need to dedicate your precious time to be doing events each day. If you don’t, you will be kicked out. Or you can join less power alliance and being attacked all the time. How does that sound for a game they claim to be “balance”. They let old servers die and keep creating new servers so that players would move to a newer servers and start over and again spend more money. At the end of the day. This game is still a pay-2-win game. It’s fun if you like to spend money to advance and to stay on top of your peers and enemies. Spending $40-50USD is a good amount to spend per month to have fun.

Poor Customer Service

I had one instance of a duplicated charge customer service did nothing about (after reaching out and taking the time to show the evidence) and now just recently a charge occurred nearly a whole week later that they can’t even explain what it was for (after again taking the time and providing them a lot of evidence). I do not remember authorizing it and it popped up as pending almost 8 days later from my last known purchase. It was literally “we don’t know ask Apple”. What? Are you serious? You’re the developer and you’re customer support - how do you NOT know what this was for and why it occurred so late? I was basically told to pound sand.

They want me to contact Apple and ask for a refund which is worrisome because you CAN get banned (developer will ban you) for too many refunds. I decided to leave both charges and play free to play going forward but am considering uninstalling the game and going to my bank showing them these emails because THIS is unacceptable.

Be warned that customer support will not help, and will not provided any compensation under any circumstance. They will also warn you of possibly getting banned for too many refund requests (where one could even be too many).

Great potential

Everyone has an opinion. This a base building, army building game. Yes there are many in this genre. However, this one has a good mix of PVE and PVP. Plenty of PVE to keep you occupied until the next war. The facts are, like all the other in this genre, this is a PVP game. Don’t let the negative reviews discourage you. You can grind anything in this game. Yes you can pay to advance quickly but I would not say it is pay to win. Make sure you know what all the buildings do and set defenses. It’s not complicated but you do have to make an effort to learn and not just show up for your participation trophy. Join an Alliance as quickly as you can. That is your best defense. Overall I would give it a try. Great game. War hammer mythos is always good.

Fraud and theft

Be careful. This game will advertise a in game pack of items for a certain price, in this case they advertised 1,500,000 crystals (the equivalent of 5,000 actual dollars) and some other items for a price of 50 dollars. After realizing they made a mistake, they temporarily ban anyone’s account that purchased the pack, and then they strip those accounts of all crystals including ones previously owned by the account or acquired through separate purchases. If you spent any of the crystals that you bought from the game and then they gave you, they then came back and added a negative balance to your account for whatever amount of crystals they could not claim back from you (again for the pack that they advertised and sold to you). So now your account is basically frozen and most of the actions you need to do are not doable because it will say you “have insufficient crystals”.

Basically they get you to buy a pack for a cheap price, after you buy the pack they go back on their deal and now require you to pay more than the initially agreed upon price.

Even if it was a mistake on their part, they shouldn’t have indebted peoples accounts for something they made a mistake on. Because some people agree to a 50 dollar price tag, they don’t agree to the deal suddenly changing after the developers realize it wasn’t a good idea to have a deal that good.

Do not buy this game. Do not waste your money.

Cant move account to new iPad, support is no help

I recently bought a new iPad and all my game data for games such as Star Trek Fleet Command, Star Trek Timelines, World Of Warships BLITZ, War Robots, etc etc all moved over seamlessly. This game can’t do that it appears. Support says something about having to use a third-party login to move your data. What? I’ll be asking Apple to refund my purchases since I can’t use them on my new iPad. Too bad, the game is actually pretty good. Ashame I wasted all that time building up my base and heros. Also, the warehouse does NOT work at protecting your resources as it says. If you get attacked and lose, you lose everything.

In reply to their comment below, yes, I contacted your in-game support repeatedly. Their reply was basically I was out of luck. I find it interesting that the developers can’t mess with your data unless you “log in using a third-party login” unless of course you pay them money (buy an in-game item) and then suddenly they have no problem altering your game data.

Fun until…

Was a pretty fun game in the Warhammer universe until the pay-to-win reality rears it’s ugly head. Playing in a chill alliance with open invites and just doing our thing on the edge of the map. Ranked in the 20’s or so, no where near that personally and having a good time. Quit today after a top 5 player in the number one rank warps into the middle of our alliance and single handed you wipes out everyone with barely any damage to themselves. Absolutely no chance of challenging them even if our whole alliance fought at once.

If you are looking for a competitive game that is strongly alliance driven and don’t mind dropping a pretty penny (I had spent about $50 up to this point and stood no chance) then you will probably enjoy this game, especially if you like seal clubbing people whom you can outspend. No longer worth my time though as the investment isn’t worth it anymore, fun while it lasted.

Terms and Conditions Contract.

I would recommend NOT playing this game as their contract not only limits your rights but also allows them to make money off of your activities, feedbacks and other activities without compensating you all while under the strict understanding that they can terminate your acct at anytime for any reason without notice. All awards, assets, equipment or people you have used real money to buy will be deleted without any compensation. At which point if you haven’t done anything wrong & try to fight it you have to go only through arbitration and cannot file a lawsuit of any kind against them for wrong doing. (Except under certain circumstances & only in certain districts, provinces, or states in certain countries.) So basically your giving them the right to extort & steal from you which they freely admit to with in the Terms & Conditions contract. They are a Predatory Company and are only in it for the money & care nothing about you. So think carefully before playing.

A Gem of 40k gaming

I’ve been gaming for years, and I gotta say this is the first mobile game I’ve played that not only leaned heavily on the source material but was also fun to play. There’s LOTS of management and LOTS of menus, and many little tricks to learn to make you a conduit of the Emperor’s wrath. Yes there’s a pay to win structure in place, you can easily drop money and become the greatest Marshal in your sector. But the devs were smart, everything you can get by purchase, can easily be grounded out and still enjoy the crushing drudgery that is imperial bureaucracy; an element also included in gameplay I may add. 40K games are all over the place. GOOD 40K games are rare, this is definitely one of the good ones.

Game could have potential

This game is fun and has potential, but is currently pay to win. Small groups of people have funneled money into the game and have out-leveled the average player. With battles/raids being winner takes all and all of the loser’s troops are injured or killed, it is very easier for these few people to shut down the average players ability to do anything in the game. You need troops to do most actions (including resource collection) and you need a lot of resources to be able to heal or make troops. I had enjoyed this game and would have given it 5 stars a month ago, but the pay to win players have severely thinned the servers and make it impossible to play without spending lots of money. I get attacked twice a day and cannot generate enough resources to heal my troops from my base collectors. And even if I healed my troops, they’d just be killed again since I’ve been out-leveled.

Best game in this genre

Probably my favorite when it comes to this genre or play style of games but the one thing I hate about it is the time it takes to build and how many you can build at once. The time is just so long to train troops and upgrade it’s kinda annoying atleast let us increase the amount of things we can upgrade at once with non premium currency. I also hate the stamina function like I know a lot of games have it and you need that little boost of money but it’s more annoying than anything maybe add more ways to replenish it or just remove idk but other than those two things love the game keep up the good work

Good start

Has high potential if further updates are added. As far as strategy games go, this really isn’t one. Not much strategy involved. More or less constant upgrading and farming for resources. Non-stop building upgrades and rather blandly named research to increase strength and productivity. The battles are mediocre at best. Basically the same fight every time but with one or two different enemies. Build an army hundreds strong to increase your power level, but never actually see them fight. They only exist as a number. As far as the source material goes, they did well in names and such, but little else. I just started playing a week ago and currently have over 300 Dreadnoughts. Pretty sure that’s not accurate.

Not really worth the time

I’m still kind of new to the Warhammer setting and was pretty excited to see a mobile game. I saw it was a base builder and wanted to give it a chance to see if there was anything different or “Warhammer” about it, there wasn’t. You could honestly play any other base builder and get the exact same experience they just out the Warhammer official logo on it. The wait times are astronomical for one, you shouldn't have to wait five plus hours on tier five troops and a level twenty-one base out of a max of thirty should not take three and a half days. All and all i had some fun but i believe it was due to the polish of Warhammer but now that it has worn off i see the game for what it is and i can honestly say its not worth the time you would need to invest if you don't want to spend money on the game. Please don't let the Warhammer title trick you into thinking this is something different

Good game and loss

Well… I essentially lost all my progress. Lvl 13 strong hold and then game froze at 70% at title screen no matter what I did after trying to fix it on my own(note: contact support next time). Still, after losing all my everything, I just want to say that it was still a great game nonetheless. Good community. There are good guys and bad guys as in players in factions. It was all overall fun, really. Either way, hope others can give it a try. It is a really good game at the end of the day, sadly, I am moving on as I can’t take that time back. This is just my surface thoughts, though unwanted nor needed, I know, but I still wanted to leave a review. Cheers!! - :)

This is a really good game but there are things i would like to add

This game has me hooked i love the base building getting new heroes and making my units stronger but i feel like there is 2 things missing terminators and changing factions like becoming a blood angel or the black templars i would also really like it if terminators would in this game make them more durable than a primaris marine or vanguard marine but weaker than a dreadnought for the level 1 terminators equip them with a storm bolter or whatever you would like for the medium levels equip them with heavy flamers and for high levels assault cannons this is some features i would like to add but overall good game

Stay away - Pay to win / cash grab

They give you a shield for a few days while they pepper you with free resources, basically free everything, and offers to buy speed ups for your base or items for your heroes for small amounts of money to get you hooked on to micro transactions. If you resist all that temptation like me and don’t give them a dime before the actual game begins then you’ll be glad you did. When I hit lvl 11 and as soon as the “freebie” base shield wore off, I was attacked by a lvl 50 pay to win whale and drained of everything. The cherry on top was my army was also decimated and had to pay to get them healed as well so more resources. The game was nice enough to tell me to try harder next time and gave me an 8 hr shield. Gee thanks, just enough time to farm resources for the whales to come and take again. No thanks!! I immediately deleted the game after this and good riddance!

Meh. Typical PVP/Resource Game

Have you played any of the other myriad games where it looks like some kind of cool RPG or puzzle game and you download it to discover that it’s just a reskinned “Make city-get resources-train troops-get killed by bigger players-join alliance-pay money-have to check all day to make sure all your hard work and money doesn’t go up in smoke to a bigger player or alliance” game?

This is that, but with a Warhammer 40K skin. I love WH40k, so of course I downloaded this and if I hadn’t been burned out on another version of this that I won’t name, I might have kept it up. But after a week of playing every day, and then getting roundly smoked by a series of larger players I had no chance of defending against, I’m deleting it.

Maybe you’ll have fun, though.

It’s ok

Way too many menus you can click through that takes so much time. Looks super busy with all the things you can click. Not very original; similar to other city builder/strategy games. It is slightly better than when it first came out since you can now select from two other chapters besides Ultramarines. Would like if they added Chaos Space Marines to be played. I’d rather they just come out with an app you pay $4 or $5 for upfront and have a good game compared to this where I know in a week or two is going to become unplayable due to how long it will take to upgrade buildings and units. It does have good graphics and the limited added interactivity during some of the battles is better than similar apps.

By

Ok, needs some work

I do enjoy the game. Kind of like popping bubble wrap. You go in click on all the tasks make all the shaking icons go away and red dots to disappear. PvP is pay to win. Player that are way stronger like level 80 vs level 2. You are shielded at start but it is time base not level based. Base Defense leveling is only possible after leveling everything else so strategy is on rails. Account link is only through Apple account link and social platforms, no Game Center option or e-mail option. Will destroy your battery life so make sure to check those settings. Do not open chests, materials are safe from people attacking your base. When building your base it allows you to pull from those protected chests. If they don’t add a better way to link your account, Warhammer40000 will be deleted and forgotten. Not on those social media platforms and with all the hacking I would rather not link to Apple account.

Great potential

If you love space this is the one for you. The only thing I would like to see more of is when you are in battle mode with your heroes just to see it more visual pleasing different portals, variety of enemies, different battle environments and such. This game has great potential the characters are actually interesting, this is coming from someone who doesn’t really care about story in most games. I hope they continue to do updates keep the servers active and such and I will continue playing. Also join a good team thats communicative. I am in server 106 Ironfist Alliance you need at least 300k power.

I love Warhammer 40K

Long time fan. Really enjoy this game. I was playing it with no issues, I’m already at level 14 and my battlebarge is coming along nicely. I have a cool alliance and everybody seems to work very well together. MY ONLY GRIPE at this point in time is that now, for some reason - I can’t launch the game from my iPhone 12 Pro. I have good internet connection. I have tried the repair button to fix. I’ve let it rest a while. And every single time I try to boot it up or log in… it just gets stuck at 70 percent. I’m not sure what to do.

EDIT: this issue has been resolved and I am happy thus far with this game
