Warhammer Age of Sigmar Reviews

I have been using the old app for years and when I see WarhammerAgeofSigmar I feel like it was a step down quality. That being said it seems to have learned from the mistakes of the 40K app and that might be due to having a completely different system but it is an improvement. Aesthetically speaking it is a downgrade. Rules wise is a mixed bag. The rules that are there are easy to understand and are current. I still don’t like the system of you need to buy the physical book to view the brand new stuff. Just let us buy a digital version like the old one and please allow us to change army names and point limits after creating said army in app. Also if they are going to charge for it make cheap like previous app just 99 cents or keep it free. I don’t want to be spending 5 dollars for a half baked app like 40K. Overall better than 40K but still needs more polishing.

WarhammerAgeofSigmar is currently decent given that it is free. Still, the aesthetic is boring and lazy and just not acceptable in 2021 for anything other than free. The original app had a much better aesthetic. I do see how WarhammerAgeofSigmar may be decent for functionality, but it’s just plain and simple too ugly and not engaging and fun enough to warrant any level of paywall of subscription.

Perhaps if they implement functionality similar to AoS Reminders, then that particular function could be worth money. And even better Augmented Reality implementation, or interactive digitization of some aspects of battle, like animations or something. Until they add those type of features I won’t spend a penny here. But as long as the apps current content remains free, I will continue to play age of sigmar and give WarhammerAgeofSigmar a chance.

Also add Legends units!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And make Nagash able to run in Nighthaunt. It’s stupid and lore and immersion breaking that he is an “ally” to souls directly under his thrall.

App must have improved substantially because a lot of reviews do not correctly reflect current state of app. Core rules laid out really well, everything is quick and snappy. No bugs or crashes so far. Used it for several matches for battle scrolls and it worked flawlessly.

Aesthetically pleasing however I do wish we could tap to get bigger pictures/official gallery on the models. It would be amazing to have basic lore and maybe a link to books/articles etc that reference the model.

It’s asking a lot but I think if they keep updating WarhammerAgeofSigmar and continue to support the game digitally how they seem to be the gap in support and quality compared to other war games will only grow more substantial.

WarhammerAgeofSigmar works fine. In some ways it’s great. But it is riddled with errors and inconsistencies. One of the most egregious is the inconsistent application of white dwarf rules. For some reason GW has decided to only add some time celestial updates to WarhammerAgeofSigmar while not adding others.

For instance, OBR’s rules were just added to WarhammerAgeofSigmar at the same time the white dwarf magazine was released.

However, they have not included the white dwarf rules for Slaves To Darkness which are now months old. This is super frustrating because if you have the magazine and the rules in hand, you know your list is legal, but WarhammerAgeofSigmar doesn’t apply the rules and the list looks illegal. This is unacceptable. BattleScribe is a much better, and free option.

I have a Chaos Dwarf (Legion of Azghor) army and while you have the warscrolls for the army, and the associated points… I can’t make an army? GW acknowledges that it is an army. An army that you arbitrarily stopped supporting and gave a very weak, borderline insulting, third edition “update” to as a passing thought and then shifted it to legends in WarhammerAgeofSigmar . And then you make it so we can’t use those rules in matched/competitive play or even casual play. GW did the same to Bretonnians, Tomb Kings, Orcs and Goblins. If you don’t want to support certain armies anymore at least give your client base a warning. As for WarhammerAgeofSigmar , this is just one more little thing. Support Legends. GW says they support narrative play. Then support it!

Great tool to reference army/ game rules on the fly as well as build your own army lists. If it crashes you might need to re-download it on IOS. This happens to WarhammerAgeofSigmar after every IOS update recently

Great app! Makes reading the rules fast and easy. List building in WarhammerAgeofSigmar is clean and helps you out by showing you key ability rules before selection. It’s needs some updates. I hope they will get to the point when FAQ’s are synced up. Hopefully WarhammerAgeofSigmar gets better when we have to pay.

Definitely an upgrade from the old AoS app!

True to their word, GW has decided that not just the nitty gritty of the armies would be locked away but now warscrolls for any 3.0 army are now only available to those who have their books.

This means WarhammerAgeofSigmar is only worth it as a compliment to your books.

Considering they also plan to lock functionality behind their subscription (which won’t let you see the full rules even still), I suggest looking for a new companion app for your games.

As of 4/5/22, I can no longer create new lists as WarhammerAgeofSigmar crashes when selecting faction during list creation. Did a standard reinstall and it still did not function. Overall WarhammerAgeofSigmar is great when it is functional and a step in the right direction for GW in terms of being more consumer/competitive player friendly. I prefer it over BattleScribe and paper battletomes for my games. Still Warmachine/Hordes had a fully functional digital app like 7 years ago. Will update review when glitch is fixed.

Compared to the old one there are a few things i like but much more to dislike.

One of the biggest issues is not being able to edit anything once you’ve picked it. Renaming armies or even changing sub factions just doesn’t work, so start from scratch each time. This wouldn’t be as big an issue if you saw the subfaction bonuses etc when choosing.

Navigation can be annoying and clunky at times, constantly backing out of armies instead of just moving from selecting models vs army.

I’d love it if your choices on units/leaders etc showed on their warscroll to save some time/room. So if i choose one weapon and not another only the one I’ve chosen is listed etc.

I’ve also had issues adding Coalition forces, endless spells etc.

WarhammerAgeofSigmar has improved a great deal since it started but now I can’t even get WarhammerAgeofSigmar to start on both my iPhone and iPad. So I’ve lost my army lists for several armies. First thing it does when I turn on is open it to login screen then immediately turns off and then after trying to restart it, it just immediately shuts off and not even go to login screen. So that’s great (it’s actually not)!

Visually looks good, but the functionality of the interface is clunky and doesn’t feel intuitive even as a longtime player. I don’t think this is a smooth introduction to list building. It has similar issues to the 40K app that I think the previous AoS app actually was actually better about. Feels like a step backwards from the old app in some ways

Pre-beta release quality. Can't rename or change lists once they've been created. Rules for brand new Kruleboyz armies are somehow still incorrect. This isn't even worth the price of "free" (itself an inaccurate term, because you still have to pay for the new battletomes.) The free website is still leagues ahead, do yourself a favor and use that instead.

Going to be full on childish with this one folks but: gotta get bigger pictures. I mean, isn’t that the only reason we would want something like that on our phones in the first place? Sexy high DEF photos of all of these awesome Warhammer crazy beasts, demons, soldiers clad and head to toe celestial armor, vampires, steampunk dwarves, more demons. Oh excuse me “DAEMONS”. Otherwise we just buy the books… Wait a minute!?

I love WarhammerAgeofSigmar and use it all the time but the latest update has caused WarhammerAgeofSigmar to crash every time I even try to open it. I’ve heard it can be fixed by reinstalling twice but I don’t want to lose the many lists I have brewed in WarhammerAgeofSigmar . If they fix this bug I’ll definitely edit my rating since WarhammerAgeofSigmar has been wonderful up until this point.

I enjoy using WarhammerAgeofSigmar biggest complain would be not being able to change subfactions once a list is created

Updated my iOS version and army creation works again. Overall great app I spend hours building and tweaking lists.

Ok, I’ve been waiting on this since I subscribed. Some of the Warscroll images don’t render. Maggotkin of Nurgle list builder doesn’t work, it displays Chaos Armies. I’ve tried a couple more and they all work fine. Yes it’s free, kinda. One of the reasons I subscribed to Warhammer+ was for WarhammerAgeofSigmar. So far Warhammer+ & WarhammerAgeofSigmar are a thumbs down. Not enough content and dodgy app.

I’m running the latest OS on both my iPhone and iPad, WarhammerAgeofSigmar immediately crashes on startup on both devices.

I thought it might only be on iPad, because I had been having issues with crashes there before. Now I can’t access WarhammerAgeofSigmar on either device. Wish I hadn’t updated.

It’s not terrible, but it is significantly lacking in the little things that are necessary for a good warscroll builder.

-Need a way to rename lists

-Lists need organized in roles instead of “last added”

-Sort needs to be more intuitive so it’s more user friendly. Even just having it remember your filters is worth it.

Similarly to the 40k app this also features broken list building functionality, which I don't hold much hope of being fixed given how long those kinds of bugs have gone unreasolved in the 40k app.

Opens up and then immediately freezes. Every time. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling. What was wrong with the old app again?

Previous app worked perfectly on an iPad. This one is iPhone only unless you enjoy a tiny window in the middle of your iPad, or blowing it up in iPhone compatibility mode.

This is a carbon copy of the 40K app so if you don’t like using that app you won’t like using this one either.

Won’t work on an iPad.
