Would be awesome if….

My target weights updated. I am currently running Gzclp on Boostcamp and I have the premium version which I understand why they have certain features behind a pay wall. It’s either that or ads to allow the company to survive.

But what is killing the experience for me is that my target weights week to week do not update on any of the tiers and only the tier 3 sets show the previous week. Maybe I am missing something but it would be nice if the target weights would update so I didn’t have to rely on memory or fiddle around with the history tab.

I also sent a message in the apps contact link but I’m not sure if it was received by anyone.

Much promised – poor design – no support

I was interested in Boostcamp because it would allow me to create my own custom programs and attach video files so that I could remember proper technique. I spent creating a program and linking videos, but within days the video links were corrupted and inaccessible. I sent an email through the support page, but I got no reply. The web UI is poor, and modifying or editing programs is clunky and unresponsive While this app promises the ability to create your own workouts, it really wants to sell you the prepackaged templates that they have. I wish I had cancelled before an annual subscription kick in on day seven – definitely not worth $60 a year. Caveat emptor.

So far, so good!

I just started using Boostcamp for a “Athletics” program, and I love it! Super easy to follow for those beginners, yet still has great programs for the advanced. Boostcamp was recommended by Chad, can’t thank him enough for this! My program is fun, lol! Crazy to say, but it got me doing moves that I enjoy! My goal is to run a 5-min mile, and these programs have great explosive programs that construct everything how it should be, not just random exercises thrown together! Oh by the way, programming workouts is not something everyone could do, so that’s why there’s great apps like this one! I been in the fitness industry (weight loss specialist) for years, and programs are part of why people do or don’t get their results! Just sayin’!

Needs strong mobile/internet connection

The content is amazing, especially for a free app, however I’ve encountered issues with weight/reps/notes not saving when I do not have a stable internet connection. I’ll enter information, Boostcamp seemingly takes it, then it’ll throw a network error and delete the information I just entered. Without a good connection, I am unable to see the routine, as well, leaving me stranded in the gym waiting for it to reconnect. I like that it saves my information, but the fact that it’s ALWAYS looks for a good connection means the minute my gym’s wifi goes out, I’m stuck waiting. This turned my sub-hour gym trip into a 1.5 hour trip. Is there an offline mode or something similar?

Also, I am unable to see the coach’s notes at the beginning of each day/week. There’s an ellipses, which should mean the coach said more, but it seems I am unable to access whatever extra was said. I feel like I’m missing vital information for progression or understanding the routine better from the coach’s perspective.

Great workout app with some caveats

So, let me start by saying that I’m only on day 2 of using Boostcamp and it’s mostly great so far - but the donation nags are excessive. I made a donation before beginning my workout today and was prompted to do so again as soon as I clicked complete. Less than 30 minutes later… come on, seriously!

Other than that (which is actually a major enough annoyance in itself), I’d love to see the option to progress to the next superset after completing 1 round of the previous superset - basically circuit style.

If there’s a way to calm down the aggressive donation notifications, that would make Boostcamp amazing and any other improvements would be a cherry on top.

Could be a game changer

I was so pumped when I saw this on Reddit. I’ve been using spreadsheets off Liftvault for years so when I saw GZCLP among others, I was so glad to ditch Sheets and use this instead. I opted for premium right away but ended up cancelling after a week because I felt I wasn’t getting added value. I am on iPhone 13 and I seem to run into bugs every session, after the latest update clicking the 3 dots on a workout sends me to a white screen and I have to force close Boostcamp ; can’t add warm up sets or swap out for alternate exercise. For whatever reason overhead press doesn’t show your previous workout info, might be unique to the Candito program. The added warm up sets under premium is awesome, but paying for dark mode? Doesn’t seem worth it. There are free options on Boostcamp Store that offer graphs. Rest timer and plate calculator; again there are free options. I’d gladly pay $9.99/mo for this if those bugs were squashed and they added the ability to make your own programs.

Developer keeps downgrading experience

Charts used to be free. Instead of building new features to entice subscription, the developers behind this decided to TAKE AWAY features and make them paid-only. We all know what happened to Evernote when they did this. Also, dark mode is a standard feature that OS expects. It shouldn’t be a paid feature. Stop milking and start actually building new features.

Update: developer’s response made sense, changing my review to 3 stars to reflect the overall app experience. Still don’t agree that features that used to be free should be taken away. It just doesn’t feel right. However Boostcamp is solid.

Good app overall with some bugs

I purchased a year on Boostcamp after trying out the free version. Boostcamp has a clean interface, a solid and growing collection of workouts, you can easily save your weights (although I wish it would save your rep count when you are doing the movement in a future workout), a new beta for writing your own templates which I think will be great. Issues that I’m experiencing include saved weights from previous weeks not showing in current workout, when I swap exercises and save it for future workouts, only about half of them save. I have to manually turn off timer every week for some movements as it won’t save after I’ve turned it off. Finally, it asks me for a rating every time I finish a workout. Since I’m on the paid version, there should be a way to shut this off. Overall I think Boostcamp is solid and hopefully will improve with updates.

Great app for a while, until now. FIX THE BUGS

Had Boostcamp for a couple months, was perfect as is, no bugs, no issues. Tracked my workouts, did everything as it should have done, no complaints.

Until around late June 2023 or so. Must have been updated, with new features, which are somewhat cool, but introduced a lot of bugs and glitches. One the main ones is refusing to register that a workout has been completed. I would complete a workout, and then my next day is still the same workout I had just completed. The only way to move on from this bug is complete the new “fake” workout and then deleting it. Only then can I proceed with the next workout. It’s not impossible to do, but just annoying, and messes with the user experience significantly. This occurred multiple times, I hope I was the only one who experienced this because I do not wish the same experience on others who just want to start/end a workout.

Great workout app for beginners and intermediates

App is great for those who are beginning their lifting and fitness career as it provides fantastic routines for no cost. However, most of the customization is hidden behind a paywall so those who are more advanced and not willing to pay the monthly fee be warned. All that aside, as an intermediate lifter, I find Boostcamp to be polished and easy to use. Combined with the quality of content on the site, I am very much so considering purchasing their membership as I believe they provide a great service. 5/5

Boostcamp

Boostcamp is filled with plenty of workout programs. It is detailed and user friendly. I am doing the Hybrid Athletic Training Program and so far I am loving it. It is exactly what I need to maintain standards and it is tailored to my fitness goals. I recommend it specially if you are looking for a variety of workout routines and different challenges. Many of the features I like about this application are the timer and the plates calculator. Also, it gives the option to change a specific exercise if the equipment is not available.

Best workout tracking app I’ve used!

I’ve gone through a bunch of apps to track workouts and I’ve landed on this app as my favorite! I specifically love that, when doing an exercise, Boostcamp shows me the sets, reps and weight I did the last time I did said exercise. Additionally, they have a great space to track not just my one rep PRs, but PRs for all rep ranges. I also have the ability to add my own exercise if it’s not in the library and track that exercise over a period of time. Boostcamp is amazing and the team is very open to learning from its users to continue to improve user experience!

Perfection

I don’t want to name names but after using a fitness app for 3 years and see it go down, I tried to find a new app but couldn’t find one that had the tools, usability, flexibility, design, and programs that could meet my fitness needs. After trying a few apps found this and I tell ya this checks all those boxes!

Boostcamp is designed perfectly, allows me to even create new custom workouts if it doesn’t exist in the database, and being able to get onto programs made by professionals is amazing! When it comes to seeing results, programs are very important, and Boostcamp connects you to pros who can get you the results you are looking for with their programs!

And, all the data and graphics you get is best, but being able to share those graphs and workouts with others is so cool!

I love Boostcamp and will recommend to everyone who is looking for amazing workout programs with amazing app with great capabilities!

Great for weight lifting on your own

As a woman, weight lifting has always been very intimidating. I never even went near that area in the gym because I simply had no idea of what to do. I love Boostcamp because it really 1. breaks down all the steps for me, 2. provides a plan, and 3. shows each movement in a video. Since downloading Boostcamp, I have been using it to lift small free weights at home. It’s been a great substitute for the gym during the pandemic, and I hope that by the end of this pandemic, I can get enough confidence to use the weight lifting section at my gym. I recommend Boostcamp!

Feedback: It would be better to
show the videos up front instead of hiding it in the hyperlink!

Yaaass!!

Short and sweet: a ton of strength training and fitness programs broken down for you in a very easy to digest weekly schedule.

Why I love it: So ya know the fitness/strength training programs you have been hearing about but when you read about how to get started there is so much to learn it feels like drinking from a fire hose? Boostcamp has all those and it breaks them down for you and gives you the programming in a very easy to digest way. Starting Strength was a program I have been wanting to get into but it felt like I had to learn a ton just to begin. This made it so easy! I am finally building my lifting foundation. I am stoked to move through this program and get into the many other programs.

Great app

This is a Great app. I have used other apps like evolve and juggernaut AI but this is the best/budget free app on the market. My only complaint isn’t even really a complaint it’s more of a suggestion. I would like to see them update the create a program to be able to make it to where I can change volume or exercise selection in a week by week option. For example, taking a four week program working towards volume strength which would need to be able to have different rep and sets volume. Like right now I can’t write up the program in the first week to be 4x8 to a 3x3 on the fourth week it just keeps the entire 4 week program to whatever you programmed in the first week

This Changed My Life

Growing up, I’ve always gotten bullied because of my weight. Fast forward to the pandemic, I’ve decided to make a change since I have a lot of time in my hands and I didn’t want to spend it all on games.

There were a lot of workout apps but I came across this app through a Reddit post and thought I would give it a try. I started with Greg Nuckol’s beginner program and progressively moved to other training programs. Fast forward 8 months, I’ve lost several pounds and feeling better than ever. I feel more confident about my body and have a more positive outlook on life. I greatly appreciate Boostcamp and its developers for making it very easy for me to start working out and stick to it. Thanks!!

Highly useful app

Boostcamp is great for tracking your workouts. I used to bring a pocket-sized notebook to the gym, then switched to taking notes on my phone. I’m glad I stumbled across Boostcamp, even if it’s years later than I wish I had.
There’s a built-in timer for rest periods, too, which may not seem like a big deal, but this allows you to set your timer and get back to lifting without having to switch apps between sets.
My minor gripe with Boostcamp is that with some workout programs, it asks for a donation after each session, even if you’ve already donated previously. I won’t remove a star for this, but I do think it’s something worth noting that might bother some lifters as they progress through any listed program.

Good app. Please reduce the subscription notification

I’ve used Boostcamp for the past couple of years (not consistently, unfortunately), and I really like it. It’s easy to use, it’s functional, and I appreciate that there’s a free option.

Just today though, Boostcamp has given me a pop up to subscribe that takes 2 clicks to skip every single time I’ve tried to add a set to the workout I’m in the middle of. The popup at the start of the workout is totally fine, I don’t expect zero requests to pay for Boostcamp . But for 8 workouts and 3 sets each, that’s 48 times I would have to skip through requests to pay.

I assume this isn’t intentional. For reference in case it’s a bug, I’m on an IPhone 13 on the newest update, and I am clicking out of Boostcamp between every set.

Best fitness app I have found to date

This is a fantastic app, the design is simple and intuitive, and it takes all the guesswork put of starting a new program (or starting exercise in general.) Great selection of premade, popular programs from fitness experts. I particularly love the built in demonstration of movements, which teaches you how to do every exercise in a given program. Best of all it’s FREE and not filled with ads- major props to the devs. Boostcamp has been a game changer for me as I return to the gym from an extended hiatus. THANK YOU!!
