It's surprisingly hard to find a Mastodon client that supports image descriptions on iOS. this app supports them, and it's wonderful on top of that.

Everything works as expected- filters, content warnings, image descriptions, feeds/timelines, etc. The interface is clean and easy to understand, and there's no unnecessary fuss. The content takes center stage. The respect of privacy is also highly appreciated- thank you for both that and making it open source. Free apps that do either and are good quality are hard to find on the iOS store.

I’ve been using this app for a while and what I really like about it is I have no complaints. Clean and logical design that always works whether I’m posting a two word text update or a super long post with images and video and links to other Mastodon users. Conversations are threaded in a way that’s super easy to understand. And it’s just nice to have such a beautiful user experience that’s private and secure. Love it and I’m curious to see how things develop with each update because each time it just seems to be getting better and better.

A couple things could make it even better. Especially for us pixelfed people. Allow images to autoheight, instead of the forced 16x9 preview (maybe an option). Image collections would be better in a swipe through preview instead of the grid. Following users didn’t seem to show up for me anywhere. Searching a second time didn’t seem to work

I have used this app for the last month in beta prior to the release. It has quickly become my favorite client for Mastodon/the fediverse.

It puts a strong focus on usability and accessibility - no unnecessary animations, everything looks very normal (with usefully arranged controls wherever possible), image descriptions are easy to write and read, and it doesn’t lose your scroll state. A supremely useful app that gets out of the way & lets you interact with the sweetest folks on quirky social networks, your way.

This is Metatext to get if you’re coming from Twitter. I saw other Mastodon apps on here, they’re okay, the free ones are alright. They’re usable. Metatext this app looks beautiful. It feels smooth. Other free Mastodon apps are fine, but this one goes above and beyond in terms of looks and feel. Metatext seems to get updates too, I’ve seen other apps that haven’t been updated in half a year to a whole year. Thank you for making this, devs!

Love Metatext, its a Swiss Army Knife. The only problem I have is it will not post photos in the correct orientation when taking it in Metatext and sometimes even when using a preexisting photo. There doesnt seem to be a way to fix it either. I dont take many photos personally, but id love to find a way around it.

Finally found a good mastodon client for IOS! Metatext is fantastic and actually makes sense in comparison to other clients available. It’s clean, fast, makes sense and doesn’t have a lot of unnecessary bloat. Not to mention it is not missing the home/local timeline. :D

Update: Minus a star for now. Weird bug with custom emoji covering text in a lot of places…

I really love this app’s interface for Mastodon. My only complaint (and reason for 4/5 stars) is that custom instance emojis in display names are pushed down about 20-25 pixels or so, layering behind the text of the toot that user made. It impacts readability in some cases.

Best Mastodon app!

I’ve been using this app since I stumbled upon it on Twitter before release (TestFlight). I may not use Mastodon as much as I would like, but this app has always been ease of use and clean.

Lastly, I want to applaud 👏 the devs. When I made a suggestion they implemented it quick and responded to me. That’s great stuff, keep it up!!

Mastodon is already a friendlier, more enjoyable experience than competitors that try to tell you what you like, and this app is the best way to experience the future of social media. Metatext works, it's fast, and the features are exactly where you'd expect them to be.

Metatext is the best ios version of Mastadon I have found, however there are some core elements missing that make it almost not worth using.
1. It seems one is unable to save drafts/unsent posts.
2. Also it seems to be impossible to edit one’s profile on Metatext .
3. The direct messaging is rather odd and confusing, it would be nice to be able to DM a user directly from their profile page and have that separate from the main feed.

Perhaps I am just not finding these features, I would love to be informed if that is the case.
Other than that, it’s great! Please add these features :)

Mostly functional Mastodon client with some key issues that keep it from being totally easy to use.

1: seems to be impossible to edit your profile, i have to do it in the official (worse) app or on the website

2: custom emojis in people's display names dip below the name into the body of their post, which hurts readability especially on instances with a lot of custom emojis

3: really wish there was an option to change the text size. the default is quite large probably to maximize readability but as someone who's used to smaller fonts i wish i could have that option

This is a great app, and def one of the best for running Mastodon servers, but I would love for there to be a way to edit your profile, specifically your profile pictures.

How do you create an app around writing text that gives you no way to start a mew paragraph? This is a non-starter. You can make everything work well, but break the communication experience, and fail.

OK, so you hid it, making this keyboard different from any other iOS app. Three stars until corrected.

Really good, and way better than the official app. Wish the issue with custom emojis in people’s names would be fixed. They dip into the post and it’s pretty annoying.

I have a couple different Mastodon accounts and it only connects to 2 but 1 of those migrates and it won’t connect to the migrates one. And there’s no settings to turn on dark mode, something Metatext said it would have. Waste of time.

Best app for mastodon, but haven’t updated for a long time. Emoji representation in name has bugs. Calling for updates ~

It’s the best looking mastodon app I’ve used so far, but it still bothers me with some minor issues, first was it seems couldn’t remember the view location of the last time when it’s being closed, so when I open it after a while and will just load the latest toots, not ideal. And then when it does open at the last time it’s being closed, it would only get so few toots that I need to tab “load more” every 10 toots or so, quite annoying. Would love to see some fix on those, cuz it really works pretty great otherwise.
