🏷️ About: COVIDaware MN is the official exposure notification app of the State of Minnesota. It is designed to notify users when they may have been exposed to COVID-19. The app uses privacy-preserving Exposure Notification technology developed by Apple and Google in partnership with the nonprofit PathCheck Foundation. The app exchanges anonymous Bluetooth keys with other app users when they are within 6 feet of each other for more than 15 minutes. If an app user reports they tested positive for COVID-19, the phones they exchanged keys with are anonymously notified.

Useless

2022-06-08

Let’s be honest. When nobody uses an app used to detect exposure, how can it work or be effective? There’s virtually no promotion of COVIDawareMN as far as I can tell apart from a one day news article. I haven’t met anyone who uses it except for a few I told about it. So this just makes me feel like it’s an experiment for the next big outbreak or whatever. After months I uninstalled it as its useless. Such a failure to have something like this that could have been good if it were heavily promoted and encouraged.

App no longer works on SE with iOS 13

2022-07-09

Will no longer open. Hasn’t in months. I’m not convinced many people are using it anyway; in over a year had never received an exposure notification (it always seemed to be a week or two behind on updating and I would have to do it manually, which didn’t feel particularly helpful—though perhaps an exposure would trigger a push to alert). Anyway it would be nice to have it functional regardless.

Confused by Share / Don’t Share prompt

2022-08-10

When we open COVIDawareMN we are prompted to Share or Don’t Share our random IDs. But then your app says the random IDs are being shared automatically without us having to do anything. So which is it? It’s really confusing to prompt us like that with this Share / Don’t Share prompt. Is the prompt for doing an optional “manual push of IDs right now” choice? If so you should say that. It’s confusing right now.

If people used it

2022-09-11

The only person I see (from the time stamp in the logs) that queries my app is my wife. I am not seeing widespread use or acceptance of COVIDawareMN across the state. It also is a power / battery hog. If in nothing thru the day with the phone, it’s down to 50% power with COVIDawareMN running. Turning it off, the phone lasts all day. Like I said, if it were more acceptable and used, it would be helpful.

I can’t tell if it is working

2022-10-12

I have a feature request. I would like there to be a way to tell whether there have been any interruptions to COVIDawareMN /exposure tracking and, if so, to retroactively see the time period(s) when exposure tracking turned itself off. I can’t figure out how to ensure COVIDawareMN stays running. I only open it maybe once a month and every time it asks me to authorize exchanging keys, as if it hasn’t been doing that already‽ Has my app been running or not‽

We all need it, but it is draining my battery

2022-11-13

COVIDawareMN appears to be functioning well— who knows? I assume it’s doing what it says it’s doing. However, it is apparently responsible for 64% of my daily battery use as it runs in the background checking for exposure. I’m at home 23 hours a day most days, so this seems a bit excessive.

What are you waiting for??

2022-12-14

Be part of the solution, we CAN work together to stop the spread of COVID19. Setting up COVIDawareMN took seconds and could save lives. Isn’t it worth your time to participate?? Do it now, Thanks!

Finally a tracking app for MN

2023-01-15

So glad COVIDawareMN finally was made, Minnesota was slow to roll it out. Hopefully people are responsible and use COVIDawareMN as well and social distance

Amazing an great idea

2023-02-16

My family has been very careful through the entire pandemic and when we first heard from gov Walz we got it. Keep up the great work!🙂

More Minnesotans need this app!

2023-03-17

Potentially lifesaving technology that gets more and more effective the more people have it downloaded. Plus, it’s 100% secure, and can in no way violate your privacy- heck, COVIDawareMN wouldn’t even know anything about you that it could tell anyone else. If you live in Minnesota, you NEED COVIDawareMN on your phone. ASAP.

Thank you!

2023-04-18

Thanks for this service, and the fact it’s secure re: personal data. As a family doctor I appreciate the efforts the state is taking to keep us safe.

Awesome!

2023-05-19

This is perfect and exactly what we need in the state of MN before the holidays. If you live in MN, please consider setting this up. It only takes a minute and it is completely safe and secure.

Thank you MN for getting this out!

Finally

2023-06-20

Easy to use, secure and private. I’m glad MN finally got COVIDawareMN. Hopefully it will help exposed people identify themselves and quarantine earlier than they would otherwise, and help slow the spread.

Hopefully I’ll never use it

2023-07-21

Easy to set up. Simple interface. And hopefully I’ll be able to delete in the next 12 months or so. Contact tracing is important. Just like wearing a mask and staying at home.

Useful

2023-08-22

Would love it if the concept behind COVIDawareMN was expanded. It would be nice to have a similar app that lets you know if you are in close range of a registered sex offender, say while shopping in the store with your child.

Easy to use and understand

2023-09-23

Easy to set up and easy to understand what they do and do not do with your data. It’s very clear this was designed with privacy in mind, and by necessity requires you to self report if you receive a positive COVID test result.

So important.

2023-10-24

This is the only way that we can realistically do contact tracing at this point. Contact tracing is a proven method to slow and reduce the spread of COVID and is being used with great success around the world. A lot of time and effort went into ensuring COVIDawareMN is secure and protects your privacy. Please use COVIDawareMN!!

Easy to use, barely uses any battery

2023-11-25

I downloaded this in the morning today, and according to iPhone analysis in my settings it only accounts for 1% of my battery usage (and I have an iPhone 6, so that’s likely better for other phones.) Haven’t gotten any COVID notifications yet.

Simple thing to help stop spread.

2023-12-26

COVIDawareMN is really simple and has the potential to help stop Covid19.

I’m glad Minnesota launched it like other states. Looking into the documentation, it collects almost no data and what data it does collect I control.

I hope it takes off, with this second wave we need all the help we can get.

Finally

2024-01-27

About time this is available in Minnesota. My friends in Germany have been using by this since May. It’s essential to know when you may have been exposed in order to fight this thing.

!!!!!

Thank you Minnesota

2024-11-17

Thank you to everyone in the governors office and MDH for prioritizing creating a contact tracing app. I’ll be sharing this far and wide!

Pretty and Simple

2024-11-17
