COVIDaware MN is made available by the State of Minnesota to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in our communities.
If you test positive for COVID-19, an MDH contact investigator will provide a test verification code you enter into the COVIDaware MN app.
Help us slow the spread of COVID-19 in Minnesota by sharing COVIDaware MN with your friends and family.
After you enter the verification code, other app users will be anonymously notified that they were near someone who has recently tested positive.
If an app user reports they tested positive for COVID-19, the phones they exchanged keys with are anonymously notified.
With the COVIDaware MN app, your phone gets notified when you may have been exposed to COVID-19.
COVIDaware MN exchanges anonymous Bluetooth keys with other app users when you are within 6 feet of each other for more than 15 minutes.
COVIDaware MN is the official exposure notification app of the State of Minnesota.
The app is built with privacy-preserving Exposure Notification technology developed by Apple and Google in partnership with the nonprofit PathCheck Foundation.
The app is part of a comprehensive contact tracing initiative managed by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH).
The app’s source code is available to the public and has been carefully inspected by privacy and security experts.
Like wearing a mask, social distancing, and washing hands, it adds another layer to our defense against the virus.
The notifications let Minnesotans know when they should take extra care and get tested.
Nobody ever knows your location or identity, and no information on the use of this app can be traced back to you.
