Perfect for what I need

I see some people upset that you can still open AppBlock , but it's perfect because as soon as I mindlessly open Instagram, I get reminded that it's being blocked from all the notifications and it shows that it can't refresh the feed and there's no internet connection. It's basically like someone slapping my hand every time I open it. Highly recommend

Most useless app

I initially downloaded AppBlock because I thought that it would block my apps for a certain period of time and remove the option for me to stop the blocker.

But it actually allows me to disable to blocker at any moment I want this. This makes AppBlock absolutely useless. If that’s all that’s stopping me from getting back on the apps I would just attempt to not go on the apps in the first place without needing this blocker. This makes AppBlock utterly useless and I would not recommend to anyone who is addicted to certain apps

Didn’t work at all?

Downloaded this to try and block myself from social media and tested this on one app to start — Twitter. It would give me notifications that the domain was blocked when I turned it on, but that didn’t stop AppBlock from refreshing and me being able to browse it normally. Same thing when I made a profile — it would say the domain was blocked, but I could use it like I didn’t have AppBlock installed at all, other than a couple of pop ups claiming it was blocked.

Just ok

I would like AppBlock more if it didn’t constantly do pop up notifications telling me that my apps are blocked during times that they’re not blocked.
I block my social media apps every Sunday. The entire rest of the week I’m dealing with pop ups saying my apps are blocked.
It’s annoying and makes no sense.

Fix that and it will be perfect.

Anxiety down, productivity up

Beware - it does not actually keep you from accessing any apps (no app can do that). It DOES keep them from refreshing/connecting and notifies you they have been blocked. For $20 annually I am very happy.

Stopped working automatically.

I set a time for it to block the apps and it worked for about 3 days until it just stopped doing it automatically. It still works if I do it manually but I end up forgetting that which is why I needed to set up the time.

Limited apps

Doesn’t have all of the apps in my phone, so I’m limited by blocking just the standard ones.

Works great for those, but I want to block literally everything.

By

Not nearly as useful as I’d hoped

I REALLY hope you add the ability to block any app as well as the entire Safari (or similar) app. It is limited in its usefulness without this option

Loved the app on droid…

I used AppBlock on my droid and loved it because I could block any app I wanted based on custom schedules. I switched to iOS and the number of apps I can block is limited…

The only feature i wanted is premium only

I wanted a timer. Plus it doesn’t block AppBlock only the internet connection so you can still see posts

Free version isn’t enough to use the app

You can’t set a schedule beyond a single day for the free version. It’s not even enough to see if I’d even want to buy it. Should be a fee right up front.

By

Useless app

It only allows you to block one day in the free version which is ridiculous. I am not willing to sell my data that cheap. No thank you.

Helpful but no enough features yet

I had the free version on Android as well and there were a lot more free features than there are currently. But AppBlock just came out on Apple so I understand the current lack of things available.

Restrictive Free Version

Free version is way too restrictive as others have mentioned.

Bummer

Definitely a bummer compared to the Android version thanks to Apples restrictions on the developers I guess. You can only choose from a set list of apps - not the ones you have downloaded on your phone. So no luck blocking games for instance. I only use about four of the available options. It doesn’t prevent AppBlock from opening. For Instagram it only blocked the feed from refreshing. Similar for Pinterest. Facebook did not actually block at all - it stayed perfectly functional. Unlike the free version on Android you can only select one day of the week - so not helpful for breaking a daily habit.
( I would pay if I could block the apps I actually use- I really liked the Android version - but would also prefer the apps to be completely blocked from launching). Good luck to the developers on trying to get this Apple version on par with the Android one.

IPhone version is trash

Had AppBlock on my android worked fine but the iPhone version doesn’t allow to disable unblocking. Wish I knew this before buying the premium

I use it all the time during studying and homework!

I use this app whenever I have to focus on my schoolwork and it WORKS! It does what it says it does and blocks the apps that distract you and I LOVE IT! Although there is one thing I wish they add. I wish they made it where you can block any app on your phone and maybe a list of websites pre added to app block I guess is what I’m trying to say. If you are complaining about the free version and you want to support a brand new app? Then get premium like how else do these hardworking people get paid? Don’t complain that not everything is free this isn’t YouTube where they send 2 ads before a video. premium is most likely their main income source and I think you should give premium a shot honestly! Thank you for creating AppBlock - Jack

It’s worth the price

I was starting to get really obsessed with certain social apps. I had this app on my android and it really helped me out a lot. I’m so glad it came out for iPhone. It’s really not that expensive and totally worth it. I’m so much more productive and attentive to my son.

:/

I LOVED this app on my android phone! I have recommended it to many of my friends! It was super helpful and I loved that I could set two blocks of app blocking time in the day with a free break in the middle.

I’m very disappointed at all the restrictions on this iPhone free version. I hope to see less restrictions on it in the future, plus $20 seems like a lot for premium.

Free version is useless

Love AppBlock for Android and was excited to see it for iOS but way too many restrictions for this version. Passing on this one.

Super Restricted Free Version

AppBlock seems functional overall. However the free version accomplishes little to nothing. Each blocking profile can only contain two apps for a singular day of the week. And you can only have 2 profiles! That’s only 4 apps in two days. It’s an absolute atrocity. Don’t download unless you’re ready to spend $20/year for the premium. IMO the current feature set isn’t worth the $20 price tag. The free version needs less restriction. Even if you keep the two profile cap, boost AppBlock max to 6 or create boost the days per week per profile to 4 or change the profile amount cap to 10 do SOMETHING to make AppBlock remotely usable while free so customers get hooked and want premium.

EDIT:
AppBlock was updated and more apps are able to be used in a profile for the free version. Upgraded from 1 -> 4 stars because AppBlock is much more usable now. with a responsive team of devs. However, it still isn’t my cup of tea. It’s essentially a vpn that blocks internet traffic from apps, it doesn’t disable launch (which is what I would use it for).
