DroidDepot is potentially the coolest thing to come out of buying my Astromech since actually building it. Unfortunately DroidDepot refused to connect even though I was following the steps and when it finally did, it only really controlled one leg while the other was dead weight. At first I thought it was my droid so I disconnected DroidDepot and reconnected the remote. Nope! Worked just fine. So I deleted and redownloaded DroidDepot . Same issues. I want to be a fan of this, but it does need some adjustments. Update soon please!

Like I said, if you already have a droid this makes your phone a substitute controller that is a lot more responsive than the stock one. But if you don’t have a droid yet DroidDepot is basically worthless!
The droid builder feature is so basic that it’s not even worth including on DroidDepot unless they plan to let you add/experiment with different colors and designs. But I feel like that would be more effort then Disney is likely willing to put in

I really loved DroidDepot because it made the droid feel so much more alive! Unfortunately, ever since the OS update last week for the iPhones DroidDepot will rarely connect to the droid (even with the control turned off and new batteries) and sometimes if I can actually get the droid paired with DroidDepot it will disconnect mid dance sequence :/ I hope they update DroidDepot for the new OS soon.... would love to use DroidDepot more again.

DroidDepot makes the droid from galaxy’s edge so much better. The controls are much more fluid and responsive, the droid is more “talkative” and the movement sync with the music is excellent. My main complaint is that on the controller portion of DroidDepot , the top red button (the one for accessories) doesn’t function. I have the blasters installed on my R unit and when I hit the button nothing happens, sometimes the random noises it makes now include the blasters firing so I know they work and I tried with the original controller and they function as expected. DroidDepot I’m sure will continue to get better, but for the accessories not to work is a pretty big let down since they cost extra and the expectation is that they will continue to function

My droid disconnects every single time I get the sequence hooked up. It goes into auto sleep as soon as I initiate which means ripping open my BB unit all over again (much faster than it would after regular use). This is a brand new droid from February that’s been used very sparingly to conserve battery. I’ve had to reconnect seven times since downloading DroidDepot 30 minutes ago. I’ve been able to get it to pair but my droid won’t stay on long enough to really use it (I have the controller off the entire time). Love the concept though and hopefully it’ll work better in the future!

Very excited by the promise of finding new ways to interact with my R4 astromech I built at Galaxy’s Edge in Orlando. One complaint from me: cannot edit the Profile section, using an iPhone 11 Pro with the latest iOS. I’d love to have DroidDepot remember the model of my droid, its name and the other details. If the developers can carefully add some content, such as replicating the personalities of the droids, such as the chips sold as accessories in Galaxy’s Edge, that would add a fun range of new sounds and actions. If the next update fixes the Profile issue, I would be inclined to update my review.

I got my droid in early January of this year, I loved it at first but got bored with it quickly. I didn’t use it for months on end. But when I heard that there was a new app for it, I quickly downloaded it and I’ve been using it for a few days.
It just doesn’t have much to do. I’ve played Tic-Tac-Toe with it, made it dance, piloted it, all of that good stuff. It just needs more features. Like maybe missions or something?
It was a good idea for DroidDepot , but just not as good as I thought it’d be. Needs more features!

DroidDepot is very great and the thought of making my droid that has been sitting in my room finally move and have life again is super. There are connectivity issues that I have noticed while pairing with my droid however. I haven’t been able to actually connect my droid and finalize the connection. Giving that this is release day it is completely understandable that there are bugs. Hopefully there will be a patch/ answer to my issue soon!

Make sure you turn your controller that came with your droid off when you use this application. The signal from it will interfere with DroidDepot trying to connect to the droid.
DroidDepot is fun to use with the droid but needs to be updated with text telling users to turn their droid’s controllers off to prevent the confusion you see happening in this review section.
They didn’t have to make DroidDepot so it’s a fun new extra out of nowhere from Disney.

We have a droid at home and DroidDepot makes it 100x more fun. You do have to make sure the remote control that comes with the droid is turned off when you sync it to DroidDepot . Also, I only gave 4 out of 5 stars because the music for the DJ isn’t working for me. The droid will still dance and move around but it isn’t as much fun without the music. I’d love it if they could resolve that or post a fix for this sometime soon.

Very happy with the dance function!
The control features through the phone are smoother than with the white plastic remote.
I hope they expand the offerings in the “strategy” category (tic tac toe?) and add more options to build a droid.
Leaving one star off as I hope they add more features.
Seems the personality settings do slightly change the noises from our R2 unit, but not big difference to the BB sounds. Also seems like the droids interact more with each other with DroidDepot than just the white controllers.
Pairing tip - I had trouble pairing our first droid until I realized the white remote should stay Off through the entire process. Then worked fine.

Long story short, it gives you really cool things to do with your droid at home other than controlling him. You can dance with your droid, give him music, let him do his own thing if you want or even face him in tic tax toe, all with multiple different reactions, voices, new controls, behaviors and it really gets that personality chip working! 10/10!

My daughter and I spent WAY too much time today playing with DroidDepot on two devices with our two droids. DroidDepot adds a whole new level of fun to the experience!
As I said in the title, make sure you have fresh batteries in your droid. We couldn’t get one droid to connect until we switched out the batteries for fresh ones.

I have created 2 droids for myself and 1 for my grandma at Galaxy’s Edge so I was excited when I saw DroidDepot advertised in an email today. It took a second to get things going ( for all those complaining it won’t connect to your droids, I had to turn off the physical controller and only have the droids on to obtain connection). The fact that you can have your droid dance to DJ-R3X is AMAZING. DJ-R3X’s soundtrack is one of my favorite go-to albums and I’m excited that I can share the beats with my astromech friends! I was able to connect both of my droids separately and create their profiles and it’s great to see their profiles are remembered when switching connections back and forth. I really do hope the developers continue to update DroidDepot with more content as I would love to see my droids become even more alive than they are now. My only qualm is that I cannot have both droids connected at once to have a little dance party, but I do understand the limitations of a brand new app. Please keep more droid content coming and Happy May the 4th!! - Sincerely ‘a Droid Sympathizer’

I have tried to get DroidDepot to connect to my droid and it doesn’t. I’ve tried deleting DroidDepot and re-downloading and restarting my phone, but it will not connect. I was really excited about this feature, but I’m bummed it doesn’t work. My cousin has the same issue with his. Hopefully one day it will work 😪

We bought two droids at Disney a few months ago. And while they are fun to play with, once you bring them home from the park, they basically become limited RC toys. DroidDepot breathes amazing new life into them, providing a lot more entertainment value and bang for your buck. This should have been released a long time ago, but I’m glad to see it out now. Hopefully they will expand upon it in future updates.

I got a bb series droid from galaxys edge and the first thing I noticed was the droid did not run very well with the included remote. But DroidDepot fixes all the problems I’ve had. Connecting to my droid was no problem and the dance feature is the best! A tip for connection: turn the controller off that came with your droid. Be sure you own a droid because the build your own feature is useless, there is no color.

We love our two droids from Galaxy’s Edge and DroidDepot makes them even better! The kids love playing our droid in tic-tac-toe and laugh hysterically at the droid’s reaction to their moves and winning or losing. We’ve had some dance-off parties as well! I hope they keep adding to DroidDepot with more games and interactive experiences. Even the remote control on DroidDepot is a little more intuitive with the “joystick” than the regular controller. The only issue we have had so far is that DroidDepot controller does not recognize our blaster add-ons. Other than that it’s fantastic! Thanks!

I really wanna say THANK YOU for giving us DroidDepot. This really makes quarantine more bearable as I now can have fun with a new companion other than just making the droid act like a puppet.
When I brought home my R2 unit from Orlando back in March, she didn’t really see much action outside of her box. Thanks to DroidDepot, she will be out roaming the house more often! I’ve had so much fun making R2-B3L dance around the living room or battle face to face in tic tac toe. I can’t wait to take DroidDepot and droid with me back to school and share the fun with my friends!
Please add more games and features to play with the droids, maybe something that requires multiple droids for those of us who can meet up with friends who have physical droids? It would also be cool if we could make them react to things like they do in Galaxy’s Edge. And is there any way that DroidDepot can save my droid’s information when I go offline or if I decide to purchase a BB unit in the future so I don’t have to re-enter everything?
Again thank you so much!!! I highly recommend DroidDepot for those of you with physical droids from Galaxy’s Edge!

My husband and I each built a droid on our honeymoon at WDW. While I’ve played with mine a little, seeing DroidDepot release was so exciting! While simple, the tic tac toe and dancing activities were cute and made me smile (which we can all use right now). I loved how my droid responded during the activities!
I also appreciate that sounds are synced while you use DroidDepot to drive—I’m really bad at pressing the sound button while using the plastic remote, so this was a nice addition.
Like others, I would love options for multiple droids in a future update!
And one note: it took me a long time to figure out how to get the music to play because my phone is always on “silent mode”. Just triggering volume won’t work in DroidDepot, you have to fully toggle sound on to hear the sounds in DroidDepot !

Has anyone actually USED this? I can’t get it to connect to the droid I already have. Some others can’t either. One person called DroidDepot a ‘game’. Are we reviewing DroidDepot before we actually try it? Worthless right now.
********EDIT*******
Finally got it to sync. Turn off the remote that comes with the droid. DroidDepot will control it now. Other than dancing, DroidDepot is still pretty boring. Bumped from one to three stars.

The droid builder process is very underwhelming. You pick a head for an R unit and...that’s it. It’s a one step process. If we could pick colors afterward to make these droids look like the ones we purchased at Disney, or to get an idea of how we want it to look when we eventually go to Galaxy’s Edge, then I would rate this at five stars.
Syncing with the droid we do have was easy and fun. The maneuvering function is delightful.

Just follow the on-screen instructions and DroidDepot connects to your droid just fine.
Two issues that I hope the devs resolve in the next update:
Issue #1: The left directional driving controls needs tweaking. It’s far too sensitive. You just barely move the directional circle in any direction and my R2 unit just takes off.
Issue #2: I can’t rotate the dome at the same time I move the droid with the directional controls. When I move my R2 unit at a steady directional pace, it takes off at full speed in a left or right direction when I press the dome rotation button. This needs to be fixed so I can rotate the dome at the same time maintaining the directional driving speed I’m using

I had my remote and droid off when I tried to connect DroidDepot and had no problem. I have an R-series with a scoundrel chip that I built in nov 2019. The dance moves take some deciphering, make sure you have plenty of space for them. I like the greater functionality offered by the digital remote compared to the physical one.

We have two droids we built back in November when we went to WDW and since coming home they have sat. Today with DroidDepot is the most they have ever been played with. Just a tip, when I had the physical remote control on DroidDepot would not connect to the droid. When I turned the remote off it connected right away.
