G-SHOCK MOVE Reviews

I don’t normally write reviews however GSHOCKMOVE is so poor, especially considering it comes from a large company like Casio. First, every time I closed GSHOCKMOVE it would log me out, and even though my watch was paired to the phone I still had to reregister it. Now, GSHOCKMOVE doesn’t even launch, hanging on the G-Shock screen indefinitely. Seeing all the positive reviews for the other G-Shock app makes me question why there are two separate apps at all, even if the watches have separate feature sets. TLDR: Casio needs to do better than sending out bug fixes every couple of days that don’t do anything and instead move functionality to the other G-Shock app, or start from scratch. Update Feb 2021: I was prepared to update my review, as with an update GSHOCKMOVE launched and worked well, for about two months. Yet again, it hangs on the G-Shock screen indefinitely. At this point it’d be better if Casio just released an SDK so people could build their own app, because they are clearly too inept to build one themselves. Still not fixed as of May 2021.

I use it together with gbd-h1000 watch. GSHOCKMOVE is working as expected. I underwent several watch firmware update procedures with no noticeable glitch. From time to time watch gets disconnected from the phone (happens only if the phone gets out of range) in such case I simply reconnect it via phone’s bluetooth control panel.

One annoying thing I noticed is that the pulse sensor is not turned off automatically when charging cable is connected! These two are obviously can not be used simultaneously))

Another possible improvement would be to add support for swimming. So far the soft simply assumes that the activity was performed on soil and after one recorded swim track GSHOCKMOVE simply shift the coordinate so that whole track is constrained to land.

GSHOCKMOVE breaks down a lot of neat and insightful workout data but it crashes a lot. When I press GSHOCKMOVE it opens and crashes immediately, I had to delete and reinstall to fix bug. Feedback: I wish I could see the speed data more clearly if that data was available. Edit: the reason it kept crashing is because I switched to a new iPhone so GSHOCKMOVE wasn’t synced to my watch anymore, still a bug tho - u get an extra 2 stars cuz I still love Casio 💗

1. Would like to be able setting the week days for the alarm to be on, so I don’t have to switch them on and off every day
2. Would be nice if the watch vibrates/beeps more than once when notifying of a phone call

I was a bit wary before buying the GBDH-1000 when I saw all the bad reviews for GSHOCKMOVE. But I've had GSHOCKMOVE work flawlessly with the watch for 2.5 weeks now. Keep expecting it to stop working but so far so good, and I've been using the features A LOT. I figure people tend to write more negative reviews for when things don't work rather than positive reviews for when an app just does its job, so here's "+1" for the "everything works fine" column.

I only bought Gshocks and moved to a different watch as I needed to track the heart rate for health reasons. Now that Gshock has HR capabilities, I bought their watch but it was useless without a functional app(to store the heart rate for further analysis/export), GSHOCKMOVE doesn’t do anything and it just stays on the logo splash screen. I have the latest iPhone so it’s not some hardware incompatibility. Based on the other reviews/feedback it looks like GSHOCKMOVE has been non-functional for quite a few months now. For a company like Casio, that is unacceptable. I returned the watch back to the retailer, this is so disappointing.

I’ve downloaded GSHOCKMOVE after a while I removed it so I can’t log in through GSHOCKMOVE and always shows error

Update this because i am a really big fan of Casio and G-shock and this bug makes me start to feel like this is not professional app to use and i just bought a watch but I can’t connect it because of log in problems

Had this watch and app for half a year now and have seen very little improvement in the features of GSHOCKMOVE .

Always having to log in to authenticate each time is irritating.

Have asked for more granularity on watch backlight times, never got a response.

Have asked for plan adjustment options to not destroy previous data, no response.

Have asked for different vibration settings, no response.

Asked for different plans like couch to 5k etc and no response.

Asked for customized watch face and no response.

Adjust font sizing so whole words do not wrap, no response.

I can go on but the point is that it’s obvious that there is no development lifecycle or sprint for this product and it’s a shame as they took your money but failed to deliver a finished product. The developers just “ticked” the boxes and called it done.

I hardly ever write a review BUT I have to do so to warn other app users, Casio G-Shock buyers and hopefully the Developers as well. GSHOCKMOVE DOES NOT WORK properly. I’ve not technologically challenged and I’m pretty good with modern technology. GSHOCKMOVE freezes, at times will not log in properly even though the watch is properly registered and I cannot pair the watch with my iPhone. Bluetooth does not recognize the watch and it’s also stated to use GSHOCKMOVE to log info. BUT how can any of it work when GSHOCKMOVE freezes constantly or crashes? Now I wished I hadn’t bought the watch because it doesn’t function as promised.

It connected right to my watch and updated it in less than 5 minutes. I love all the information that it saves to GSHOCKMOVE , helps me keep progress with my runs and workouts. I also like how it looks, it had a very clean feel and look to it. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone.

For the love of god, who thought it was a good idea to categorize notifications into emails, texts, etc? Like GSHOCKMOVE literally says ETC for notifications….this is like half of the notifications I get on my phone that I don’t want on my watch. Incredibly lazy not to include better control over how these are managed.
Otherwise GSHOCKMOVE is functional, but poor notification management has almost pushed me to turning notifications off completely

Forces you to log in every time you open app, then takes forever to log you in. Then, it forces you to scroll to the bottom of several legal disclaimers and click “agree.” I expect that sort of thing when I first install GSHOCKMOVE , but every time I open it?! Then, after all that waiting and all those steps, it just might connect to your watch, but just as often it will not. Who designed this thing? The watch itself is fine, but I never would have bought it if I’d known how frustrating GSHOCKMOVE is. One star is too many.

I’m not sure the other reviewers were looking for a G-SHOCK when they bought and reviewed. This is exactly why I was looking for. The watch is clunky and sturdy and perfect. The software was easy to set up and connect to Strava. If you’re comparing apples to apples, this is a darn good apple.

GSHOCKMOVE is crap it closes every time you leave it even if you dont log out. then it tells you you have to open it and none of the information is there fromPrevious workouts and you have to enter everything all over again. i would not recommend at all. i would expect better from an app that gshock put their name on and im disappointed that my watch isnt on the other app that seems to be working

I have this watch for about 1 week now
What i like :
1) i dont need to charge the watch
2) it tracks my steps correctly
3) i can see on GSHOCKMOVE my steps , distance and calorries

What i dislike :
When i compare it to other watches and apps
They have much more advantages such as calculating my speed.
Also GSHOCKMOVE limits me for running as i didnt see an option for walking

I like my watch and i try to get used to it.
And GSHOCKMOVE may not be that bad
But i hope they will make it better and add more simple options that are availabe in other fitness app

Not perfect not even close but it’s getting better. One simple suggestion to add which would make GSHOCKMOVE even more user friendly. Please add the ability to see the Watch battery level in numerical value within GSHOCKMOVE ?

In this amazing digital age, how can my absolute favorite watch company (Casio G-Shock) release an app that performs this poorly. It really doesn’t even deserve one star! GSHOCKMOVE constantly loses Bluetooth connection with the watch (GBD-H1000) throughout the day! The only thing GSHOCKMOVE does well is display error messages! Come on Casio... you can definitely do better than this!

PS: I love the G-Shock GBD-H1000 watch, but I hate GSHOCKMOVE and the way it interfaces with my iPhone (iPhone XR / iOS 14.3).

Everything about GSHOCKMOVE is outdated, just start from scratch may be you'll get something that doesn't constantly crash with a UI that looks a little more like 2021, and update the watch software while you're at it.. Very disappointing.

I rarely write reviews but I’m a Casio collector. GSHOCKMOVE is a disappointment. It doesn’t even launch after a dozen tries. I have a handful of watches saved on it but have had to delete it and reinstall so many times to try to get it to work. Now GSHOCKMOVE won’t open, it just says stuck on the title screen. G-Shock Connected is a much better but still flawed app. Casio should migrate all their watches there. Very disappointing.

Love the G Shock GBD H1000 watch, hate GSHOCKMOVE . GSHOCKMOVE is constantly disconnecting from from my phone and I’m always having to pair it over and over again. This happens a few times a week. Really annoying. I have an IPhone 11 Pro and GSHOCKMOVE just isn’t ready for prime time.
No updates from Casio. It’s like they hurried up to put out the watch and app but just weren’t ready.
Only good workout provided is for running. That’s it. Pathetic.

For me GSHOCKMOVE and watch have worked great for running and hiking. The big let down is that the software is only calibrated for running or walking. You can’t really accurately track activities such as road cycling, mountain biking or swimming. The watch has all the sensors needed for such tasks but the software is not there yet.

Watch works well for steps and exercising which was the main purpose but the inability to at least alert texts from the iPhone prevented the 5 star rating.

So I’ve owned my watch for about 7 months now and it’s gotten to the point where it is my daily wear just out of convenience.

This is a recent development that has become very annoying. Every time there is an update to the MOVE app, it syncs to my watch and wipes out all of my custom settings (i.e. preferred location for second time, notification type, miles/km, etc…).

I have checked several forums where people had problems and GSHOCKMOVE sync is clearly the issue. It is changing to default settings after each update and the syncing to watch.

I use this for the G Lide watch. It’s supposed to show Tide data and sunrise and sunset. Picking a location on their map leads to the wrong data.

I finally was able to set my own custom pin on the map, but it took 4 tries because GSHOCKMOVE would crash for no reason while entering in a Name for the location.

I didn’t do anything differently, but it finally saved. When you add a custom location, you enter the next high tide (google it). Then the watch updated and appears to be showing the correct Tide data and sunrise/sunset (for now).

Everything is clunky in GSHOCKMOVE. It will make you appreciate good design. The fitness features are also clunky and terrible.

The watch itself works and has a great display that I can see from any angle. Good job there. But GSHOCKMOVE is miserable.
