Barsys Coaster Reviews

I’ve had the coaster and app since Father’s Day, and I’m growing more frustrated with it by the day. BarsysCoaster is not intuitive, laden with bugs and only seems to work intermittently.

About half of the 50 or so bottles of alcohol I scanned into “My Bar” were either incorrect, generically described or just plain missing from their database. That essentially renders this inventory keeping, and thus the ability of BarsysCoaster to suggest drinks based on what I have on hand, totally useless. Other bugs include many, many errors accessing particular parts of BarsysCoaster , including drink recipes, favorites, and a bizarre inability to properly save custom concoctions.

With the most recent update to iOs, the system has stopped working entirely. BarsysCoaster indicates it’s connected to the coaster and the coaster lights up, but you can’t actually make a drink. Nothing happens once you try to start making cocktail, nor is any kind of error message returned.

Finally, BarsysCoaster itself is just not intuitive. You’ll see a notification count badge crop up, indicating there are new drink recipes available to view. Good luck actually finding them. No easy task. Also, there’s essentially no instructions in the box the device comes in. Just enough to get you started (assuming it’ll work in the first instance!) I’m still perplexed as to the function of the black button on the shaker/mixer. Not so much as a mention of it in the literature.

Neat idea, diluted execution.

BarsysCoaster is great but is missing a TON of ingredients. You can add your own, but the problem with that is you can’t create your own cocktail or store the recipie if you don’t have it memorized. For example, skrewball whiskey isn’t in the create your own but what if I want to make a peanut butter and jelly drink with a fruit juice or other flavored liquor? It would be awesome if you can add your own liquor to the create your own and even better if you could name that drink and store that recipie in your account to use at a later date!

I brought the coaster for my boyfriend and I wish I had looked at BarsysCoaster reviews before I got this.

DO NOT BUY THIS until they update BarsysCoaster. BarsysCoaster is the key to the coaster really being useful and all I have to say I am returning the coaster first thing Monday morning. It has soooo many bugs. We spent hours trying to scan our bar for only 4 things to register (our bar consists of 61 different types of liquors) then looking for a recipe ha good luck with that and trying to use BarsysCoaster to make your own nope. We looked for simple drink recipes like mimosas (not there) and others not there. I am so upset because this is such a fantastic idea and all they need to do is get people to update BarsysCoaster . I know people who would love to update BarsysCoaster. I hope this review helps

I absolutely love this coaster and app! It has made me branch out and try new mixes. Only problem is BarsysCoaster has a few bugs. I love that you can add all of a recipe’s ingredients to your shopping list very easily. But once you add ingredients to your shopping list if you slide to delete an item or tap to delete it, it shuts BarsysCoaster down. I didn’t want some of the garnishes for the drinks but I can’t remove them from my shopping list. It’s not a big problem I’m still loving the coaster and app. But I am looking forward to future updates!

Got the coaster as a birthday gift for my hard to buy for dad. He loves it but BarsysCoaster does not progress even though the scale (coaster) is working. There are no forward/back options and it’s hard to exit the drink once you’re in “craft” mode so you just have to remember the order of the ingredients so the coaster helps you measure properly.
BarsysCoaster hasn’t been updated in 4 months and it clearly needs major overhaul. The coaster is connected and knows what’s going on but BarsysCoaster simply does not. It’s an expensive toy so I would recommend using BarsysCoaster for the recipes and skipping the coaster unless there is significant improvement.

We were really excited to use this but after adding my bar( a couple of different alcohol) and then going to home for ready to pour drinks I only got one drink. It looks like its not registering the alcohol to suggest drinks from my bar. I understand it pretty new but really hoping it gets better cause it could be an AWESOME product.

I have had the Barsys coaster for just about a year now. It has gotten to the point that it just sits in a drawer unused because every time I try to use it, there is another issue with BarsysCoaster. In recent weeks, I’ve been bombarded with emails from Barsys, so I thought, “maybe they’ve actually redesigned their app and are making a concerted effort at customer support. WRONG! I cannot even log in to BarsysCoaster anymore, nor can I reset my password. Before spending $100 on their coaster, you may want to consider the fact that it is unusable until they get a app that actually works.

95% of the time it won’t let me add a custom ingredient. It won’t save. Also, what’s the point of requiring a volume if you’re going to restrict people to a specific amount? Most of my bottles are open so volumes are inaccurate. I would prefer to know what I have on hand but don’t necessarily need to know the amounts if they aren’t customizable.

And now that I added my inventory, it crashes every time I try to view it. Clearly BarsysCoaster is the weak part of this system and needs some serious attention.

I used the Coaster for the first time while having a couple of friends over. I am normally terrible at making a drinks but the Coaster made me look like a pro barista. It was also fun party item to have so everyone could try a drink of their choice. Thanks Barsys! I will definitely be recommending to friends.

You really need to update the inventory, when I scan different liquors they either aren’t available or show up as plain vodka and not flavored. Also I thought there would be a lot more cocktail options than what there is. Cool concept— app just needs better features.

App needs work. The main issue I have is that it will not recognize when it’s time to add the next ingredient. Coaster will say it’s measuring and eventually blink green but BarsysCoaster will not progress to the next ingredient in the drink recipe. Very annoying! Either way hope the update fixes this problem. Will update after testing again. Cheers 🤙🏼

Love the concept. Recipes need to be a little more comprehensive for beginners. For example, made a margarita according to instructions but get to the end to find out the mix technique was a shaker. Would have been helpful to know that upfront. Identify the correct tools, ice and other details upfront.

The concept is pretty cool, the scale is not very accurate, we also got the cup mixer - it is a big hit or miss.

The apps has some nice features like make your drinks. However it is very slow sometimes, also you can sort what to add first. In addition the directions when to put the glass and such are not clear.

I hope there is an update soon to fix the bugs in BarsysCoaster. It shuts down anytime I try to add something to my bar or when I try to add new drinks. I have shut off my devices, restarted the internet, and have done everything I can on my end. I don’t want to have to return the coaster, but without a working app it seems like there won’t be any other choice.

I came across BarsysCoaster which has been nothing but amazing. It has so many different suggestion for various cocktails… it’s truly a mixologist at your disposal.

I love this idea but lots of the pages keep freezing up especially the “my bar” and “explore”. Please update.

I haven’t even used the coaster yet. I just received it and downloaded BarsysCoaster . Went to add my items to my bar and they either won’t add or BarsysCoaster crashes.

Maybe this item is worth a return to sender because BarsysCoaster seems to be unusable, without a workable app this coaster is just a paper weight.

BarsysCoaster will not saved my scanned products, it pops up exactly what it is then click save and it’s gone… sadly BarsysCoaster needs to be 20x better for that you pay for the product (coaster) I honestly want to send the coaster back due to insignificant app ability. You have a great product just spend some time on BarsysCoaster !!

Can't add what I have at home. Stuck on the loading screen. Can't press the plus button. I can scan a barcode and it says added successfully, but then that freezes, and when I close and open BarsysCoaster , the item I scanned is gone. Love the idea, but I'm glad I didn't buy the coaster since BarsysCoaster isn't working.

The whole purpose of this device and app is to help you craft drinks. When you try to enter what you have for liquor in “my bar” which is step 1, BarsysCoaster crashes. So you can search for drinks and find something that you might like, but good luck having it recommend drinks based on what you own.

Cutesy concept but very first gen. Plastic cheap. App could be much improved. Love the inventory feature! But you can’t sort, categorize and it assumes everything is one of two sizes .75 and 1L or 25 or 34 ounces. Largest bitters ever?! Barcode scanner feature cool but lacking. Needs an update. Hopefully they will invest some more in BarsysCoaster features.

Putting in my bar’s worth of drinks and seeing an entire menu of drinks that I can make it awesome

Unfortunately the latest update has too many bugs to even use BarsysCoaster anymore. You can't create drinks and add liquors or mixers under 1oz. If you do select a drink you created it won't let you see the items listed in the recipe section. It deleted the recipes I previously created and you can no longer filter all drinks A-Z like you previously could. Hopefully BarsysCoaster can be updated soon because it isn't very useful anymore.

I received this as a housewarming gift and absolutely LOVE it! It’s so cool and different - will definitely be purchasing more to gift to others.

I love using this to find great new drink recipes

App shows blank screen, or a handful of drink recipes. It can connect via Bluetooth to the device. Search from ingredients doesn’t work. Clicking on Make for any recipe instantly crashes BarsysCoaster . There is no way to add new recipes, and the “App Tutorial” references nonexistent UI. BarsysCoaster has seen 3 updates in the last week alone, which demonstrates comically poor quality control. I am sure some of this functionality worked at some point for someone so they could get glowing reviews before the holidays from major sites. BarsysCoaster in its current state is garbage and without it the product is a brick. I have contacted product support for a return with no answer for a day. Avoid!

I don’t know how to make cocktails and just make the same thing all the time. The Barsys Coaster has opened my world to the large amount of drinks that can be made. I look forward to the continual development of this product. I really enjoy making my own drinks regularly now.

Still can’t enter a custom recipe no matter what I try or how basic. This is clearly a syntax error in html BarsysCoaster still won’t allow adding recipes 3/18/21. I don’t know where that mojito recipe came from, but it’s one of the worst. Tried to add my own, but after all this time, even the revamped app still is buggy and clearly lacks simple testing. Seriously, don’t understand. These aren’t difficult bugs. Nor are they difficult to reproduce

Brought the coaster to a recent party. Lots of fun, my friends loved it. Great way to try a bunch of cocktails. There is room for improvement on BarsysCoaster itself, but it seems like they’re releasing more updates.

Barsys makes it sound like you can add all of the types of liquor and mixers you have to BarsysCoaster and it’ll spit out all the different drinks you can make, but this isn’t the case. You can only search for pre-loaded drinks or create your own drink. It does not suggest drinks based on what you have available.

Also barsys does not respond to emails or answer phone calls about their product.

BarsysCoaster promises features which it does not deliver. Ability to search library? Doesn’t exist. Ability to add ingredients you have available? Nope. Custom cocktails? Not there. Even BarsysCoaster tutorial talks about features not present in BarsysCoaster . I reached out to customer service and got no reply. Expensive item for such lacking customer service. Not what I expected.

This is such a cool product where I can finally make drinks without guessing the amount of liquor and juice. It’s unique yet functional. Makes a great conversational piece at parties or gift idea!💡
