I’ve installed this on my old iPhone 6 so that it’s on a device I don’t need for calls. You now need to have the right adapters and connect to the back USB TYPE B on a CDJ or into the PRO DJ LINK hub via ethernet. I bought the adapters that allow for this and also connecting power to charge at the same time. This new way of connecting is more cumbersome but allows for new features. Mainly now when connected to CDJs, you can also browse for music on the phone rather than just the CDJ. Why is this cool? Because it’s cloud connected. Now any data I add to tracks while playing on CDJs automatically syncs back to my collection. If I add new music to my collection on one computer, it is now automatically available in rekordbox via cloud. So basically this old iPhone 6 is now a SSD drive that is cloud synced. Not to mention how great the design is. You can do everything on your tracks with your thumb. It’s now my preferred way to prepare tracks. AMAZING. The people giving bad reviews, just don’t get it and aren’t understanding the big picture of what this is.

Syncing your library (space on phone permitting) and doing track prep on the go is easy to do and works well. The issues start with Pioneers ecosystem.
I have an iPhone so I automatically have iCloud and rekordbox NEEDS to work with iCloud. Why force me into yet another subscription with Dropbox?
You wouldn’t even need the sync over wireless feature because this app could sync with iCloud that syncs with your iPhone library.
Library and track prep needs to work with streaming services as well (Beatport etc)
These phones and iPads can power a NASA rocket. Why can’t we have a mobile version of this app that can act as the library for controllers like the DDJ-1000? The iPad version would make perfect sense.
People in other reviews say these requests are over the top, but understand this is an old app and development has slowed down to a crawl. There hasn’t been any real new features in ages. It’s time.

Ignore the negative reviews deducting stars for not having every feature they want. rekordbox is really well done and very useful. You don’t need a CDJ or dropbox if you don’t have them, it syncs directly with the desktop app perfectly for those of us with the less expensive controllers requiring laptops. Sync was flawless, in a very short time I had my library on the phone, which I used to listen to tracks and set cue points, and later synced back to the computer. So you can work on your next set while traveling or wherever. It even has two decks and a crossfader so you can mix tracks to see how they’ll work together. Honestly rekordbox is so well done I can see them developing it in to the full DJ app for the new M1 chips just released. Can’t wait for that to eventually happen.

Whenever I get new tracks I immediately sync them to this app, sit back on my couch at night, do all my prep work on this app mobile, and everything automatically syncs back to this app 6.

I like the feel and flow of this app mobile more than this app 6. I’m guessing the mobile version is written in Objective-C or Swift as it just feels smooth to use. With this app 6, perhaps because it’s a Java app, I feel it lacks the native macOS look, feel, and smoothness the mobile version has.

Integration of this app mobile with CDJs is great. For me rekordbox is exactly what makes Pioneer DJ the best value for DJs who really want to maximize their music for the art of DJ performances.

Pioneer needs to dump WeGo and this app Mobile and just make a single app that uses the same library and has the same features as the desktop this app. Look at the competition, the other players in this space have done it.

Even without full performance features, I love the idea of being able to do library prep work on the go. But it needs to support all the same sources as desktop- including Tidal and Beatport Link.

The idea that this bare bones app uses up one of your license activation slots is crazy. No one is using this in place of the full app, only as a companion, so it makes no sense to me it should use up a license like one. That’s like charging a license fee for each individual controller, player and mixer in your setup!

This is a pretty cool app for a first go. The library sync was easy. It was easy to jump around tracks and set memory and hot cues.

One major lacking feature is I can’t listen to music in my car via Bluetooth!!! Argh!

I listen to a lot of techno, so was hoping to use this as a media player in the car and was super excited to be able to scrub through the dj mix in and mix out sections. But I can’t listen in my car. Boo!

Don’t get me wrong. rekordbox is amazing. BUT…not all we need. We need this app mobile able to connect to a controller like the ddj 400 or the Flx6. There’s some third party apps in the market that already have that function. I don’t want a third party app. I’m in love with this app. But sometimes a laptop isn’t quite comfortable to set up. Tablets or phones indeed are.

rekordbox is useless without USB A support for interfacing with CDJs via the port on top of the player. So much for keeping a stash of tracks on your phone for those unplanned afterhours opportunities. You’ve dropped the ball Pioneer.

Can your team create a version of rekordbox that has a physical digital DJ set?

My Idea:
This version can help people DJ more with Two or Four DJ players and a DJ Mixer that has 4 or two channels. It can work for laptops, PCs, smart phones, and smart devices. It can free and affordable for anyone who can not buy a DJ set in their home. It should allow the user to record their mix in real time and show marks of what they can improve on. Some people can not afford a set, mixer, and other equipment that a DJ needs but this version can be helpful. It can help someone become a DJ while on the go to figure which tracks need to be played. Everybody want to be a DJ so this is a free way to get them into the industry.

Happy to see this app for mobile get a revamp for version 6. However I do hope improvements continue to be made. I miss the feaure where you can cue play by tapping and holding the cue button but then continue playing if you drag over a bit to release the hold on the play button.

Do not buy any music from the apple store/iTunes Store as you will not be able to use ur purchases on cdj/xdj. I have wasted thousands of dollars on music for one update to leave my library void and useless. Very sneaky and intentional. Just perchased the xdj xz in gold and the lack of support is unreasonable. Just go serato but DO NOT TRUST this app or you will miss gigs from your library being gone or unusablez

“Could not import could not import could not import”. Every track I tried to use said this, so please don’t waste your time here. Both rekordbox and WeDJ are useless. Neither can ACTUALLY sync to and play your saved tracks on Apple Music and that was their big schtick and selling point so these apps only function as a waste of space on your device.

I won’t be paying monthly until I can use my entire library, that includes my Apple Music subscription.

Other than that, I like it.

Currently rekordbox isn’t designed for iPad. It will run but only in vertical mode and the layout makes it obvious that the devs just ported it from the iPhone app.

Keeping my phone on this app screen to sync the library the first time is also a huge joke.
What am I really paying for?????
To stare at the screen for hours until it’s finished.
My pleasure with rekordbox is becoming complete frustration at the least.

I’m not happy that I can’t select a song while another song plays. I don’t like that I can’t directly connect in the the usb top port and play off of the phone. It’s also really cluttered

Audio files cant be downloaded unable to find files. I have setup and moved files to Dropbox properly through this app.

I need Bluetooth to be able to listen on the go. Thank you for the hard work making rekordbox
