Want to use a credit card to pay your bill via Apple Pay? Sorry, that's not available in PeoplesGasChicago, unlike literally every other app in PeoplesGasChicago Store. Want to use a Visa card? Sorry, PeoplesGasChicago doesn't allow that - only MasterCard or Discover - have to maximize profits! Using any other regular credit card? Sorry, that will cost an extra $2.50, because even as a public utility, we need to make sure to nickel and dime our customers as much as possible. Using a checking account? Good luck with that - if you don't do it perfectly, PeoplesGasChicago will show you paid but then add a late fee! Just skip PeoplesGasChicago and send a check with a paper bill - clearly, the company isn't set up to do much of anything else.

• No support for FaceID/TouchID (weirdly leaves PeoplesGasChicago to go to a webpage to handle login - how janky is that??)

• No support for ApplePay (only ApplePay Cash - totally different and not a way to set up paying a utility bill)

• No support for Apple Watch (you guys are getting pwnd by ComEd for heavens sake, and that’s setting a low bar - how humiliating is that??)

The usability of PeoplesGasChicago is terrible. On the up side, PeoplesGasChicago exists. And it’s… pretty? I’m stretching for positives here.

Look: these failings, which all look excusable on paper and are gross breaches of what an iOS app should be in actual use, paint a really really clear picture that People’s Gas is run by old people who don’t understand modern technology, and probably never have to use PeoplesGasChicago or pay a utility bill themselves.

And that’s how you get an app that prioritizes lazy or cheap programming shortcuts and fails in use (but probably demos great to management!) rather than one that is truly useful to your customers.

PeoplesGasChicago for some reason every time I open it it requires me to sign in over and over again, it never did this before, it logs me out by itself. I happened to check it when I realized my bill was almost due because I was not receiving any notifications and saw that I was signed out and that was the reason why I was not receiving bill due notifications. Complete garbage!!!!!! This needs to be fixed immediately!!!!!!!!!! It’s a hassle signing in again and again every time I open PeoplesGasChicago , that was the whole purpose of installing PeoplesGasChicago so I wouldn’t have to have a hassle doing it online

Today this company turned my service off because they allow anyone to take over another units meter and account address without checking.

That’s right, are you unit 1 in a building? We’ll someone else can move into your building and claim their unit 1 and without warning your gas can be turned off.

It’s 30 degrees outside and despite having autopay on, these people never notified my building or landlord, came out and turned the gas off. What’s the point of an app if basic competency is missing?

Really annoys me that I am unable to turn on notifications. The “save” button once I select all the billing notifications I want to turn on is a dull color, and I can’t click it, therefore I am unable to use the notifications. PeoplesGasChicago also crashes a lot. My phone is up to date, so obviously PeoplesGasChicago needs work.

the new app looks great in the pictures but i wouldn't know because PeoplesGasChicago refuses to recognise i have an account. minutes after downloading and being told there was no account connected to the email i receive emails from people's gas from i logged in online with no issues. was excited for a more streamlined and updated app but am now disappointed.

The high amount of 5 star reviews on PeoplesGasChicago appears well deserved. It feels native and high quality. Good work.

But Visa cards are explicitly unsupported during payment. Why? I can use Visa to pay through the website.

Unfortunately without Visa payment, I can’t really take advantage of PeoplesGasChicago . Once Visa is supported, I’ll gladly update my review.

As good as one of these really fun apps could be. The only thing I Didn’t like is that it times out anytime you switch to another app (like banking to figure out and copy and paste your routing and account #s). Other than that, it’s super efficient and does the job

Deongo & KerrySue are very smart, patient & full of energy! It is 9:30pm & I have always struggled with paying my bills on line, this is my 1st & the two of them assisted me without making one huff or puff they laughed with me which helped me not feel ignorant.. I’m gonna try to keep using PeoplesGasChicago because they made it fun even though they had to walk me step by step☺️

PeoplesGasChicago is everything you need from a utilities company. Simple to navigate, easy to pay bills/view usage, and beautifully designed. You can tell the team worked carefully with customers to bring the best possible version to life. Love it!

Apparently your name has to be in all caps. That being said would have avoided me calling. But once it was figured out by a very helpful Katy It was fine. Fast I man super fast response time. At anytime.

I can only use it to view my bill and payment history. I use my American Express to pay my bill and PeoplesGasChicago doesn’t have that option. Otherwise PeoplesGasChicago is great!

It’s easy for me to lose track of my bills but with PeoplesGasChicago I know exactly what I need to ask my roommates for and when I need to pay!

It was such a pain logging in on the website to pay your bill. It’s kinda crazy when you think about how they didn’t get a mobile app till 2020. At any rate this is great so far.

User friendly and does everything I need it to without hassle. Solid app

This is my fist time paying a gas bill and so far this has been a very user friendly app. It’s easy to open an account online prior to downloading PeoplesGasChicago and to set up auto pay and paperless billing. I can view my usage and get assistance all with the press of a button!

PeoplesGasChicago keeps me up to date on my payments and functions exactly as it should. I would recommend.

PeoplesGasChicago won’t accept my card...Apple Pay or the card number itself! I don’t want to enter my account number and shouldn’t have to, if you’re offering Apple Pay! Uninstalling!

People gas has the worst automated system. It’s sensitive to background noise and the same questions keep looping where I can never get around to effectively paying my bill.

Doesn’t accept Visa through PeoplesGasChicago , but their website/phone billing service does ???

It uses in-app browser to log me in so basically i’m still using safari not really ‘APP’ !!!

Pointless to have an app you can pay your bill with that never works. Oh and not taking visa is absurd.

This is a very good app and I like the push notifications that can be sent via text or email and you can select the date when you want to setup then date you want to notified before the bill is due. There are great charts to do a comparison to how much gas you used the previous year. It has program and other notifications. Great App
