BLAST & MEGABLAST Reviews

Just got my Megablast today, took all of a few minutes to setup and update then I was listening to music from Alexa over WiFi. So far not seeing of the issues everyone else is, I’ll come back and update if it goes south.

App is easy to use with the right about of features and settings. I like that I can quickly control volume from BLASTMEGABLAST when the device is on the other side of the patio or pool.

BLASTMEGABLAST works just fine. The setup went perfectly at every step including the speaker getting a firmware update in the process. I was shocked at the number of bad reviews. I ran BLASTMEGABLAST setup on an iPhone X with iOS 13.3 as well as an iPhone 6 with iOS 12.4. Every function in BLASTMEGABLAST works fine including grouping speakers. Also the range is as good as my long range headphones and I’ve gotten hours of use with a group of speakers and not one glitch. Maybe it’s people with low performance or cheap hardware phones. IDK.

Agree with other reviewers that BLASTMEGABLAST needs to be fixed. I should have read app reviews before buying multiple speakers.

1. Difficult to connect speakers and then when you do they disconnect for no apparent reason.

2. It appears if you set-up on your phone and you try to do anything on your phone, I.e. save a song, search for info, it could disconnect.

3. Your device with app must be close, actually very close, to speaker to work and it should be near a power source as drains battery on device.

4. Connection range is shorter then advertised.

5. App only shows name of first speaker or parent speaker. When the addition speakers show up on app connection page there is no name so you are not sure which speaker connected. If one drops then you need to unconnected all and reconnect which means moving them all close together l. Greet way to kill the party.

Luv the speakers. Luv the concept of BLASTMEGABLAST but it need many improvements. Holding out hope developers are reading the reviews and working on fixes.

I just ordered a megablast on a third party site and had trouble connecting it to BLASTMEGABLAST and therefore WiFi. Realized the speaker was running 1.6 something which is like the update in 2017. YOU NEED TO UPDATE THE SPEAKER VIA COMPUTER BEFORE CONNECTING TO BLASTMEGABLAST . I don’t have the link, but it is in the FAQS for BLASTMEGABLAST online. Update it via usb through your computer and it should have no problem after. Would give it 5 stars, but this is a hindrance to others as it seems. Hope I saved ya some frustration

Since this is a Bluetooth music speaker, you’d think it would have standard Alexa commands to control music on paired devices. I have several Echo devices and regularly use Alexa commands such as pair my device, play Bluetooth, pause, resume, next song, etc. None of these are enabled on the Blast! You must connect to Bluetooth manually and use your iPhone/iPad and control music like on any ‘dumb’ Bluetooth speaker. Very disappointing!

So when I open BLASTMEGABLAST I put in the WiFi password then it was searching for a update for the speaker and it found an update just it wouldn’t download and it won’t let me get any further in to BLASTMEGABLAST to set up Alexa or anything if this gets fixed i will rate BLASTMEGABLAST higher

BLASTMEGABLAST goes into a loop & then errors out when checking for updates. Please fix have iPhone X w current iOS installed. I believe this is keeping me from full functionality of speaker. If I though the reviews stating this glitch... I would not purchased. The speaker has great sound quality... software awful!

i'm only giving this a four star rating because of the lack of Alexa feature sometimes, first ad the ability to change your wake word, second add the start and end of request sounds, and third ad the multi room music ability meaning the built-in Alexa multi room music ability

It’s sad to say this but, if your going to be too cheap to hire some good developers at least make the speaker’s ability to connect to different devices easier. BLASTMEGABLAST is horrible and it doesn’t work. Whether you have one or two speakers it doesn’t work. If you have two phones on two different platforms, BLASTMEGABLAST is still buggy and it’s abnormal crashes mess up the speaker’s potential.

Got the new iPhone11 pro max and it tells me not supported and can’t connect, but connects but BLASTMEGABLAST itself doesn’t seem to work with it and doesn’t sense it’s connected and sometimes disconnects.... maybe an update needs to be made for the updated phones.... before it was 5 stars cuz it gave no problem and I was able to customize the settings

PLEASE get your dev team on this. It is unstable and doesn’t work 75 percent of the time more like 90...once paired or synced....all bets are off. How embarrassing in front of girlfriends or friends who end up rolling their eyes as you walk from speaker to speaker trying to play some music as someone just ends up playing it from their phone. Do you know how frustrating that is after paying for these “cutting edge” speakers and trying to show off your music?

Speaker no longer works for Alexa for more than 5 minutes if I power off and power back up Alexa again will work for 5 minutes then BLASTMEGABLAST says Alexa is signed in - not connected. Been working with support for weeks over this, they refuse to acknowledge its a bug and tell me to use the speaker in Bluetooth mode. I didn’t buy an Alexa enabled speaker to use it it Bluetooth mode all the time. Terrible support, terrible company.

This is an amazing speaker that you can never connect to and none of your friends or your family can ever connect to you because you have to have BLASTMEGABLAST and it never works it doesn’t connect to your Bluetooth it frustrates you it takes a huge amount of time ...they make it really hard again...great speaker horrible app fire ur app developer and this would be a great product wo the bad app

I bought a Megablast speaker and man do I wish I didn’t. The sound quality is excellent and it worked well at first, but now it just has endless issues like not connecting to WiFi, not playing when connected, not charging on the wireless dock, Alexa not working, and countless others. BLASTMEGABLAST is just as bad as the speaker, do not buy from them and if you already have, return it before it’s too late.

Love the grouping feature and the stereo feature with level control. Speakers sound good overall but need a bit more bass for my taste. I do have frequent issues with the two speakers syncing up and it’s very frustrating!! UE, please fix this problem ASAP!!

The fact that I have to use a wi fi signal to download any updates is complete trash. I’m currently in a hotel that has terrible wi-fi and the Megablast speaker I have won’t charge. I had to do a factory reset and the speaker is about to die and I have no way of downloading updates that might fix the issue. JBL is ten times the company and products than that of Ultimate Ears. Completely pathetic

IF I COULD GIVE THIS ZERO STARS I WOULD!!!! First it kept saying it found my blast and then lost it. Then every time it would have me click blast BLASTMEGABLAST would shut down. I restarted my phone. Redownloaded BLASTMEGABLAST . And now can’t get my new speaker to get up... how exciting 🤩😍 this is ridiculous and return ur speaker don’t even waste your time because you won’t be able to connect it anyways

Have 4 Megablasts.. will not buy another.. sound is good.. app is awful and works randomly.. at the moment 3/4 connected to app.. difficulty connecting some to Alexa as well:/ so frustrating.. also despite naming the speakers, when you try to pair teo you don’t see the name so have to guess:/ do the folks At ue own and use their own equipment!?

I connected my Alexa so I can tell Alexa to play my Apple Music but this speaker “doesn’t support” Apple Music and it’s disappointing and needs an update because this speaker is expensive af but “ doesn’t support” Apple. It needs a update

The avg time elapsed from deciding hey id like to listen to something in stereo and actually have both speakers issue a stereo signal is at least 5 minutes. At least half the time it involves hard reset of iphone or speakers or both and endless spins of speaker searches that never complete connections.

App was always of dubious value. Now, it won’t even connect to the speaker via Bluetooth! Now all I have is an expensive tube paperweight.
Am running latest iOS (13.3.3), and yes, I did make sure to turn on Bluetooth under BLAST in settings.
Somewhere I think a class-action is brewing.
This shouldn’t be any different tha pairing a set of eaphones.

Speaker is fine and mobile alexa is appealing. BUT

You cannot use in a group with more than one other alexa

Instructions and app are lacking as is apparent from the overall rating. Instructions don't explain how to put on alexa app and it is not intuitive. App is all flashy photos, poor navigation, and no summary of steps.

I spent 1/2 hour on phone w help desk and they decided i probably had a lemon and should return. I had another one to give as gift and it did set up properly.

Either the first one was a lemon or i made the mistake of multitasking and somehow missed a step.

Pretty much BLASTMEGABLAST is useless dont waste your time with the fancy $200+ speaker cuz you wont be able to use all the cool features due to there being practically no customer support just some useless tips that dont offer an option to ask or talk to anyone so if your issue isn’t listed your screwed, cant setup my megablast cuz the update keeps failing

I have been using apps in BLASTMEGABLAST Store for maybe around 7 years. I have never left a review for any of the 200+ apps I have used. I am here today to let you know this is by far the worst app of all time. Nothing works. I have been trying to pair a $200 speaker for probably upwards of 2 hours. Return that speaker if you purchased it

Can’t do anything relating to Alex’s because BLASTMEGABLAST won’t connect to the WiFi. It rarely shows the WiFi’s connection around and when it does it says unable to connect to the network. There is no use to my mega blast if I can’t use Alex’s I might as-well of bought the one below the mega blast

I just purchased a mega blast speaker and had it paired to mega boom and it played. Then it told me I should not be able to pair to the boom system. So like an idiot, I downloaded mega blast today and pairing has not worked. Period. I’m done with sham apps. This needs fixing! And before you say it, I went to the troubleshooting site and it was worthless. Contact me.

This is kinda crap compared to the mega boom they are definitely the way to go

Pairing is a hassle, buggy, and intermittently disconnects. There is clearly no tech support for this product as the last software update was released over 6 months ago. Nothing is being done to solve these issues. Take your money elsewhere.

Thought it was my phone, running a Beta iOS but it seems to be BLASTMEGABLAST itself. It seems to connect to my Blast but it won’t connect to the WiFi during setup. It just keeps spinning and then it asks you to reconnect. Basically BLASTMEGABLAST is useless.

Loved UE since the original ue boom. Ue boom 2 was great, synced two at a time perfectly. Somehow the blast + its app is awful, Bluetooth is just poor, it’s impossible to pair 2 blasts without having one of them constantly cut out or have distorted output (bought the speaker yesterday).

Sad, I miss the old ue’s I had.
