Not ready for launch...

I will caveat this review as I suspect this was a ‘home grown low budget’ app and can understand that as many ORV associations get little to zero funding to help support their efforts of making nice trail systems and updating maps. That being said I really hope they can work on this one as it is clear this is not ready for end users. MichiganUPTrails is not responsive to user inputs, lags and at times freezes up. It also needs to be optimized for newer generations device screens to fill the display vs. being cropped. The map displays limited data vs. what you would want when using it...cities names not on displays, route names / Forest road names missing in one instance near Bruce Crossing. Overall as I assume this was a club level attempt at an app and I applaud them for trying and truly hope they can invest more time to optimize it for current end users.

Pre beta

Downloaded and opened. Waited for all the maps to load, and waited. Then I was greeted by an overview of Ontonogan. Nice place but not near me. So I tried to move the map. Single finger slide didn’t work. Two fingers make the screen fight between pinching and moving. Two minutes later still centered on ontonogan while it was zoomed out partially in the lake. Gave up trying to move the map and checked what the information was like. It seems like good information but unless the Navigation improves it remains too frustrating to use.

Two years before an update released and the update doesn’t work

A buggy app that should’ve been tested more thoroughly before being released. Two years later we get an update that won’t update. App Store needs to pull this down until they can get it fixed. Good concept giving us a UP trail map, bad execution.

App doesn’t work

I love the idea and I really want to like MichiganUPTrails but it just doesn’t work. Super glitchy - pinching and zooming doesn’t work. Trying to move the map with your finger doesn’t work. The developers need to do more testing with real users across different devices. It is unfortunate to see MichiganUPTrails receive attention in the media and fail to deliver. I am looking forward to an update!

Glitchy

The zooming with your fingers is backwards. It doesn’t zoom smoothly. Usually zooming hesitates and takes me to the wrong place on the map. I’m not sure why it defaults to Ontonagon upon opening. Uninstalled and reinstalled let advice and didn’t help much. Hoping for big updates soon. If anyone else is having problems, please write a review.

Good way to get busted

MichiganUPTrails shows the old main trails fine, the federal forest roads say open to Highway vehicles only then you click on the more tab and they all say open to , ATVs, Motorcycles, and UTVs Sxs. If the road is Hwy vehicle only you can’t drive anything but cars , trucks, or road bikes.

Terrible!

MichiganUPTrails does not show trails in reference to landmarks or even villages/towns, does not zoom or move to a new location smoothly or easily, and legend isn’t visible while focusing on the trail map. Paper would be much easier!

Glitchy

I agree with Rainingjewels’ review. Pinch and zoom function hesitated and doesn’t always zoom, instead moving the map around.

I’d attach a screen recording here but can’t.
I’m using an IPhone 8 Plus with 128GB.

Worthless

It defaults to a closeup view of Ontanogon. It took me a good two minutes to zoom out and painstakingly drag the view to Marquette. Once there I couldn’t zoom in to where I wanted. A UP trails app is needed, but this one is bad.

Doesn’t Open

Been trying at various times to load MichiganUPTrails! It doesn’t work?!!!

Seems like it needs work

Default view wasn’t even in Michigan. Couldn’t move around the map. Local trails never showed up. Zoom by pinching jumped all around.

Not ready for launch

Filters do not work properly. Seems to be missing lots of trails in Keweenaw area. Hope it can be debugged and updated.

Download

Attempted to download MichiganUPTrails and it wont download an any of the devices I try it on. Might want to look into that

Doesn’t work

App doesn’t work. Wong even open

App will not load
