Some novels are terribly translated

I’m 100% grateful for the services Flying Lines provides but I feel that some of their translators do not care. Even though I haven’t read a lot novels from Flying Lines(because I’m picky), I’ve noticed that most of the novels I read are poorly edited. There are some obvious misspellings, grammar problems, etc. I feel like the translators just machine translate the chapters and post that, with little to no proofreading or editing. When I say “poorly translated”, I meaning that you can definitely understand the overall plot/story line but I know that some people(me sometimes) really likes to read each sentence carefully to gain a better insight of the characters and plot. However, it’s gets hard to concentrate and continue on when you know that the translations are not clear.

There are people who pay in order to access chapters in advance or read VIP chapters and at this point getting a machine translated chapter is infuriating. I could literally do that by myself without wasting any money. I expect the chapters I payed(which is by completing daily missions) to have been edited, proofread, have correct grammar, flow nicely, etc., or least some sort of editing done.

I’m not saying that all the novels Flying Lines translates are terrible, but there are definitely some poorly translated novels. However, I do want to point out that some translators have listen to their readers’ comments/complaints and have made changes.

some good content and has potential, but currently can be a fussy app

There’s several novels on here I enjoy and (when it works) the table of contents and page-turning setup makes navigating through and reading novels it pretty straightforward, but there’s occasional issues with FlyingLines perpetually loading or saying it can’t connect, and it has a bit of a clunky interface on the main menus/pages.
There also used to be an occasional issue as well with jumping to the ends of new chapters instead of the beginning that seems like its maybe been resolved but it hasn’t been long enough for me to be confident about that yet.

I think for the most part it just needs more time and work to fine tune some things, but as of right now I still encounter frustrating issues with FlyingLines itself pretty frequently.
(There’s also occasionally issues with chapter uploads and translations themselves but that’s more a problem with some of the users/translators than FlyingLines itself, and it’s at a level/frequency thats generally to be expected with fan-translated web novels so that’s not actually something I hold against FlyingLines).

Can’t Help But Sigh

FlyingLines was truly a blessing with all of the translated novels it hosted. Slowly, it became more convenient to use with all the functions available—unfortunately, just like many of the other Webnovel apps; they’re starting to charge even for the littlest of things. Their most recent changes, charging stones (currency in FlyingLines ) to vote (allow the novel you like to have more limelight), has lowered the rating from a 4 star to 3.

I would like to be able to support the translators—but not everyone can afford to. You can earn the currency by doing small things without paying—but it’s almost impossible to keep up with the spending unless you do every task—everyday without skipping; but even that doesn’t cover enough at times.

The cost of a locked chapter can range from 8 stones to 11 stones (from the ones I’ve read), so you aren’t really able to save, especially since you earn a minimum of 15 stones from reading at least for an hour, 1 stone for commenting, and a few more for adding a book. Leveling provides a large number of stones but the cost is just too high that it’ll get sapped away quickly. Not to mention that leveling is extremely hard as the needed amount of exp is increased exponentially.

Overall, for those who are unable to pay for stones with real money, it is a grueling journey to read and try to support the translators as well.

Virus/Bug

I genuinely love FlyingLines as it has many interesting stories and the genres are to my liking. However, I’ve been dealing with a bug lately and it hasn’t been fixed despite my report two weeks ago. Many chapters are filled with gibberish and the authors and other readers have contacted me saying that it wasn’t anything wrong on their end. If this gets fixed I will definitely give FlyingLines a five star rating.

Pretty nice

The devs listened to my suggestion to add a search function. However there is a bug that if you favorite a novel and get notifications on it, even if you unfavorite it, it will still be sending notifications. Other than that app is great.

Chef kiss kinda app 😘👌🏻

Not goin to lie the translations are kinda shoddy BUT, i’ve read way worse and the option to swap and/or edit the translation is pretty seamless/makes up for it.

I’ve seen apps have the option to report incorrect translations and show suggested ones other people have made, but there’s never been an option to directly swap the text for user suggested edits! 🤩 not to mention there’s an option to have a robotic voice read the text to you with the corrected edits.

All in all, best novel app I’ve used. Will be switching to annual membership after the 1mth discount rate ends. If this was a moba game, I would be a whale.

THANK YOU developers for doing such an amazing job! ❤️

About translating

It a good app. Great stories on it with great plot lines. I’d like to make a response however to one review who said the translation is lazy. Actually sometimes words can’t be translated correctly from one language to another. Often certain words don’t exist so they have to use or even adjust a sentence to accommodate that. Not being lazy just trying there best

Advertising

FlyingLines is overall great because of the amount of comics/manga you can read, but the thing i’m mostly here for is the way they advertise, I was on a game and saw an ad for FlyingLines. The other thing I see is fan art or a photo of Levi Ackerman, from Attack on Titan laying on Eren Yeager’s shoulder also from Attack on Titan. I just don’t think it’s right.. Levi is basically almost forty, Eren is nine teen. I’m not sure if they gave credit for the characters from Attack on Titan but whatever. I just suggest they change the way they advertise.

Some issues that need changes

Good app overall, although I agree with five majority on how lazy translators are for books we PAID for. When I’m paying monthly I expect to at least have decent service in return. There’s also connection issues on their end when using FlyingLines , interrupting moments when I’m reading. Overall, good UI and quality of books to read.

Great app

I am very happy to find FlyingLines and with some improvements I can see FlyingLines becoming very big.

PROS:
-Good selection of titles
-Frequent updates
-Easy to use

CONS:
-Saw quit a bit of grammatical and spelling errors. I am not too picky though

SUGGESTIONS:
-Monthly subscription
-Option to suggest titles and maybe even vote on them. There are some titles I really want to see translated and definitely willing to pay for them.
-Options to allow fans to submit correction suggestions to earn a bit of points. I think this will benefit FlyingLines greatly.

Thanks for creating this wonderful app.

This app becomes more and more exciting!

I have been using FlyingLines for a period, firstly I thought it had great contents but still in the very beginning of app products, but It continuously bring new features week by week. Great job, developers! Also thank the editors and translators bring us so many enjoyable contents!

Complain

I love FlyingLines but the recent event, “lucky draw” is kinda mean. What I meant is when I was about to get the 7 day trial it jump 5 step ahead and keep making me get like 5sp. It’s unfair. If you don’t want us to get it, u can just not put it. I just feel bitter about it

By

Having problems to upgrade a subscription for a book

Love all the stories good translation is to bad can buy the books or find them on stores to buy but congratulations to make FlyingLines love it

By

Problems

When I click to FlyingLines , they appear but then they close out FlyingLines . It kept doing like that when I try many times.

By

Best app for me

I love how the translation is correct. I love everything about FlyingLines. I hope the translator will add more BL novels too. Overall this is a great app I’ve found so far.
I also hope the translator will update more chapters too.

By

Some problems

I’m being told I will get five spirit plume after continuous long in bot I only got one every time. Also I wish the chapters in the novel were consistent with their respective original novels. That’s just my opinion.

It’s been fixed. Thank you.

By

Good mostly but glitchy

I really appreciate the translations & the night mode. However what makes it super annoying is that it randomly crashes and refuses to load anything. This happens often unfortunately.

By

Low quality translations

After using FlyingLines for maybe a year or two I can say that most of the novels back then though maybe not the best with translations were showing effort to provide the product they promised. Now most stories are simply MTLed and put out for profit. No effort goes into this at all anymore. Just a cash grab at this point.

By

Expensive

Please change it to monthly subscriptions. I cant afford to pay 1 book for $50. Buying coins is too much.

By

Expensive

I wish the stories were less expensive

Rate a book?

"Latest update" and "comment" are misspelled. I can't figure out where I'm supposed to rate a book. An FAQ would be helpful.

By

hope for better improvement :)

I couldn’t see any of the books, couldn’t upload a header and couldn’t change my bio at all until I turned on my WiFi because apparently my LTE just wasn’t cutting it 😭 pretty sure that wasn’t a me problem because I could access the internet fine as well without having to use WiFi before. Needs a search option... Also recommending to change some of the cover of the books like The Decade of Deep Love but that’s just my input.

By

search doesn't work

exactly as said on the title, the search function isn't reliable. i quite liked a story but forgot to add it to my library. since i remembered the title, i thought there wouldn't be a problem. unfortunately, the search insisted the story didn't exist. i had to google it and save it from the web browser instead of FlyingLines .

By

I can’t even use the app

My LTE is on and it keeps saying no internet connection and won’t load at all. I know it’s not a me problem because everything else is working

By

Empty

Same problem as in web and other review. Novel don’t show up. Blank. Empty. No book or novel. Nothing. It work one time but then not anymore.

How can I fix this?

But I do like that it an open genre and great art.

By

Function

Downloaded FlyingLines recently due to the amount of novels that have been link to the website and seems to be working fine now. Still haven’t ran into any problems.

By

Fancy app no search button

I just downloaded FlyingLines I love the layout and it “looks” user friendly but I hate how I can’t search for a specific title or book and have to go scrolling through everything to find a book I’m looking for. You have to choose a genre and hope the book you want is in there. Very frustrating when I lose it too. What’s the point of making it look good if it makes it that much harder to use.

By

This totally doesn’t work

The greatest problem is that there’s no search option like seriously i cant search for a genre or a book. if I want to subscribe to a book that I’ve seen in novel updates I need to first go to the page using webpages and subscribe through them. unless there is a search option there is no way FlyingLines can be used.

By

Great app to read novels

FlyingLines is just great. Design is great, works are great. With new updating, it’s easier to find latest chapters. Hope to see more works here.

By

Hard to work

I can’t touch which genre I wanted to read when setting up my account. The next huge problem for me was that there was no network connection so I couldn’t even begin to read. Highly disappointed because I was looking forward to reading some wonderful stories.
