Progressive Overload Tracker

I’m incredibly impressed with this app. Hevy helped me elevate my lifts to the next level. After two years of consistently lifting, I started to see plateaus in my strength and hypertrophy - and the main culprit was a lack of consistent progressive overload. I’ve tried Excel spreadsheets and notebooks to track my workouts, but neither solution compared to the ease of use that this app offers. Now I can track my workouts consistently and update/create routines for my PPL splits (and variations of them). My favorite features are the “medal system” that lets me know when new goals are hit and the massive database of exercises to program into my routines. I also appreciate the statistical insights to my weekly volume/reps. This helped me recognize the disparity in volume between my push and pull muscle groups, and I’ve experienced and all-around improvement in my progress after just one month of using this app. If you’re like me, you probably have been tracking your calories and macros for a while now (with MacroFactor). Now tracking your workouts just as dutifully has never been so easy. Thank you, this app!!

Best app for tracking workouts so far

When I started working out. I use to not log any of my workouts, then as I was getting frustrated with my progress one of my gym brethren told me I need to be logging all my workouts and trying to get better everyday. That’s when I found… the notes app. It was a grueling process and it became a jumble of numbers and abbreviations that only me and me alone could read. I knew I needed a change, that’s when I found… a bunch of useless apps that made me pay 25$ a month just to put in more than one workout routine. Then finally I found this app. After opening Hevy for the first time I knew I found a winner. I could have up to 3 routines which was perfect for the program I was running. Then I found out that it tracks my progress and my stats for me (which brought me more joy than my pump that day). It had rest timers, barbell calculations, as many reps and sets as you could want, super sets, drop sets, basically everything. The only reason it isn’t a 5 star is because I need to pay 80 dollars for the full version. It would be a 5 star for me if they even brought the price down to $35. Other than the paywall this has been an amazing app.

Pro Version is Nearly Perfect

Hevy really motivates me to keep up with my progression. It’s easy, intuitive, and has almost any feature you could possibly want if you pay for the pro version. I personally like the ability to track RPE. I also like that it shows you your volume from the previous week when you start your workout, making it easy to adjust numbers for the current week.

The free version was fine as well, but I have been using Hevy for months and it was clear the investment for extra features was worth it. They have a feedback feature in Hevy —I’ve used it a couple times and always got a response, even when the “feedback” I gave ended up being that I just didn’t realize how to use something.

I don’t really care for the social media aspect. The only way I would maybe use it in the future is if there was a way to “compete” with a friend, similar to modern smartwatch interfaces. But I could take or leave that whole portion of Hevy . However, it doesn’t detract from my experience so I still rate Hevy 5 stars.

Love the app!

This is my first time really taking the gym serious. I liked Hevy because it gave me ideas of workout routines depending on what I was trying to accomplish and the tracking of it is phenomenal! I never have to forget the weights I’ve done previously or the reps! It has a social aspect to it but I don’t use that. Only improvement I see there to be is to just have more routines available to pick from or to be able to search for them. As of now, you can pick one from the few they have and tailor it to your liking by adding or removing certain exercises and replacing others. I did buy the paid version to add more than 3 routines, definitely worth the investment if you plan to utilize Hevy for its benefits. I now have my own dumbbell only workouts, plates only workouts and different workout combinations. I’ve also added in my own exercises that Hevy didn’t have and have been able to track those too. Overall: get Hevy if you want to seriously track your progress.

Closest thing to perfect I’ve seen

I didn’t think it was too much to ask - a gym tracker that recommended workouts but also allowed you to choose your own and make changes on the fly. Syncs with Google/apple, shows how to do exercises, graphs your progress. You wouldn’t believe how many fitness trackers are out there that DONT do all of that, even for a paid subscription. this app does it all - FREE. I paid for the premium version, but I didn’t need to (premium version unlocks more slots for saved routines and expands the length of saved data), but what they wanted for a years subscription some memberships want per month! Extremely cost effective. I’d like to see this app expand their exercise database, maybe even take user submissions and animate them. I’d also really like for the exercises in each routine to be “collapsed” unless you’re actively doing said exercise -helps to find it on the page but lets you see your progress through the list. But these are requests, not problems. Overall, very satisfied.

Easily the Best workout app around

Best free app. Best paid app. The pay option absolutely isn’t necessary. The last app I used that was as good/simple/easy/intuitive to use was the original Gym Buddy app back in 2007. The developer abandoned it around 2010 and left everyone that used it hanging. There are no other apps that are as user friendly as this one IMO. I’ve tried pretty much every workout app there is and they are all way overpriced, overly complicated, bloated with unnecessary crap, poor UI, not enough features/right features or unintuitive. Most workout apps are a mess. Not this one.

This one is simple to use. Exercise isn’t there? Easy to create categorized by muscle group and exercise type. Easy to add it to to your routine. Need to add a set, easy. Need to delete a set or exercise, even easier. Need a rest timer, It’s there. Need to rearrange the workout order? Bet you can guess that it is also extremely easy.

You can track your physical stats and training stats graphically and numerically. Lists totals for each workout and overall weight lifted. Tracks how many days between workouts and how long each workout was. Great for volume lifted and when you last trained a certain body part.

Hevy makes keeping track of a workout the easiest thing in the world, which in turn makes me consistent. I want to see those stats week over week and month to month.

I Love Hevy.

Get it, you’ll probably delete any others that you use.

Excellent workout logger with reasonable pricing

This makes my workouts far easier. The Pro option was only a few bucks a month, and it allows me to add as many custom exercises as I want (in the case that this app doesn’t have what I’m looking for, which, admittedly, is quite rare), it lets you superset workouts, and keeps up-to-date records on your PRs for each individual exercise. Amazing app!

The one “issue” I have is that the way you log barbell exercises is a bit weird. They ask that you log the whole weight, so if you bench 25 plates each side of a barbell, you have to manually type in “95,” which I feel is silly. It would be far more convenient if you could set your bar weight (in case there are different weights) and then just type in how much you put on ONE side, then this app can do the math on how much you actually lifted itself. I’m not the computer here, why’ve I gotta do the calculating?! Minor complaint, though. Plus, I don’t really use the social media aspect, so it serves as a fine self-reminder for how much I did last time.

best app for tracking EVERYTHING!

this app has been a personal favorite workout app for months now. sometimes it’s hard to get motivation to workout, but this app helps me with that because i look forward to seeing the stats at the end of a workout! that’s one of my favorite features - the muscle split and lbs lifted, also personal records if you reach any that workout! it also keeps the workout history (both of entire workout sessions AND individual exercises), which helps to determine the best weight to use if you haven’t done an exercise in a while! only on occasion do i wish that i could choose whether to time reps or track them via numbers, instead of exercises being pre-determined (as in, L-sits automatically only being timed, and russian twists being by rep). that’s my only (very small) gripe. i’ll always recommend this app to friends, the same way it was recommended to me. great app always!!!

Hevy is a great tool for beginners and advanced lifters alike.

I’ve been using this app for some time now(about 3-4 months) and it has just about every workout that I could imagine. While I’m not too familiar with any of the other features this app offers, nor am I a subscription member, I still find a great amount of use through the workout tracker. I used a little notebook to track my workouts and this app is basically that little notebook, but digitally. Like I said, it has just about every workout you could imagine and it tracks previous workout weights and reps so you don’t have to flip back a week to see where you were at. If you struggle to make progress or keep a consistent workout schedule and find that you can’t remember where you left off at from last time I heavily recommend this app. You don’t need the subscription to get the full satisfaction of what this app offers and I find that to be the “edge” this app has that other workout apps don’t. I will definitely keep using this app and recommending it to any fellow lifters I meet!

Very good app but needs some features

Hevy is great. But these are things I think it can add to make it better:
- permanent notes that don’t disappear after one workout. I use them to mark where to place safeties or j-cups on my rack along with other details specific to a given exercise.
- allow for a miscellaneous field alongside weight so that I can better keep track of some workouts. Sometimes I use a machine that allows for both built in resistance as well as added plate weight resistance, but I want to track those separately (the miscellaneous field need not be included in the calculation for total weight volume for a workout)
- sometimes I’m in another app between sets or workouts and lose track of time because the timer doesn’t sound if you’re not in Hevy - can you make it so that I get alerted whether or not I’m in Hevy , and perhaps also change the timer sound to something more distinct and possibly slightly longer to know that the sound is from the timer?

Couldn’t ask for much more in a gym tracking app.

I’ve been using Hevy for a few months after using the Strong app and wanting something new and I’ve greatly enjoyed it. The interface is nice and clean and Hevy makes it nice and simple to create workouts and quickly select them when you’re in the gym. It’s also extremely easy to reorder the workout, leave notes for yourself, and basically anything else you may want to do including adding custom lifts.

I opted for the premium membership as it was only $12 for the year (Black Friday deal) and so far am enjoying it mostly for the ability to save unlimited workouts so I can create different programs for myself and keep myself accountable and trying new things in the gym. Looking forward to giving Hevy plenty of use and being able to see my stats change over time.

Great App! Best by far

I’ve tried a lot of workout planning apps and this one is by far the best. 90% of exercises are inputted with “how to” pictures for beginners. Offers good starter routines for beginners but allows for you to make your own when you are ready or make adjustments to existing. The added social aspect allows you too connect with others to get inspiration as to what to do or ask questions if you don’t know something. Great tracking and at the end of every workout it gives you a breakdown of what you did, how much you lifted (including a comparison to what that an out equals) and what muscle groups you targeted. Just like with any apps there are in app purchases but this is the first one that I’ve thought it was worth paying for. Monthly or outright. Outright is ~$70 and most other apps are that for a single year. They’ve done a great job with it

Best App

New to powerlifting, I love the interface and user experience of Hevy. The developers of Hevy are extremely personable and responsive. I have asked questions and offered feature requests and each time they respond with a personal message and information on the progress of the features I’ve requested. I love the in-app timer. I can do literally any exercise and record it appropriately in Hevy . Another huge priority for me when choosing a fitness app is that it have a web interface option. I like to build my workouts on the computer and then use my phone/watch in the gym to complete it. this app is beta testing their new web interface, and it is AMAZING, with more features to come. Also, the lifetime membership is a really competitive (cheap) price compared to other fitness apps of this caliber. I see no downside.

Very good + helpful

I have recommended Hevy to every beginner at the gym. Before I used Hevy I just used my notes on my phone which wasn’t vary optimal. I started using Hevy and it made my routines much more organized. Iv come a long way and have gained a lot of muscle and weight since I started working out. I was 120LBs when I started and now I’m 156LBs. Hevy played a big portion in my success because it helped me be more organized and made me stop guessing my workouts. It opened me up to a lot of new experiences and I now have routines I’m happy with and feel that I gain the most from. I would recommend Hevy to anyone, beginner, intermediate and even professionals. It’s bar vary helpful. Also for anyone who k owe me irl, I never write reviews on things so if I’m taking the time to write one on a product…YOU KNOW ITS GOTTA BE GOOD.

Awesome App

I have never reviewed an app, but Hevy has helped me so much I couldn’t help but share my experience. No ads, no glitches, no fancy bells and whistles. It simply tracks your workout and keeps you on track. I used to walk around the gym looking for open equipment, wasting time and not targeting workouts. Now I follow the preset workouts and when I get done with one thing I know exactly what I need to do next. If I want to do additional exercises I can easily add them in. I also love the weight and sets tracking. I used to “try” to remember what my previous weights/reps were, now I have every rep I’ve done in Hevy . I’m not a body builder nor do I spend hours in the gym, but Hevy has helped me prioritize and get in shape better than I could do on my own. Overall 5/5 stars and couldn’t ask for much more from a free app!

Amazing app

I’ve just hit my 50th workout and it has helped tremendously. I’m 17 years old and started working out around a year ago. When I started I was going for 6 months straight and my max bench was 185lbs, I was just working out aimlessly and got very little results. After I started going to the gym again I decided to use Hevy and give it a shot. I instantly skyrocketed after I used this. I tested my max right before I started using this and I could only do 175lbs on bench. After 7 WEEKS ONLY I literally got my bench to 245lbs, I added 10 lbs to my bench EACH WEEK. Tracking workouts is 100% necessary if you are looking to gain strength and mass. If you are going to the gym to stay health I would still recommend Hevy I would just highly recommend it to anyone looking to get big and get strong

Very intuitive and glitch free app

I had been using the BodySpace app since 2016. I loved its premise but Hevy was almost unusable weekly.. they refused or were too obtuse to fix it. I finally switched to this app about 6 weeks ago and waited until now to write my review. First, creating your own workouts is incredibly easy and their lift database is impressive.. This is something BodySpace once made easy but has since either removed the ability to create your own or just moved that feature somewhere unknown. Second, editing your workouts is very easy. Third, the history and stats is as good or better than any app I have used. Lastly (for now) is to date I have not had a single glitch, crash, problem of any kind… I paid the small price to have many different routines. Well worth it..

My favorite work out app

I have just recently started lifting weights. I tired pretty much every free fitness app. While they’re great at tracking things like cardio and calories. They fall short in the weightlifting department. Most apps I found only track the whole activity not the individual movements. this app is great because it tracks every movement you do along with the reps, sets, and weight. Plus, it shows how to do those movements and what muscles you’re hitting. this app allows to make routines. So, if you have a “Leg Day” routine you like to do. You just have to make the routine and boom it’s saved. The only thing I wish is that it was completely free, but from what I can tell. The only thing you get with the paid version is that it shows you where you were at more than 12 weeks ago. All in all great app. Go download it and get those gainz

extensive workout catalog and intuitive interface

Hevy seems to have one of the most comprehensive movement catalogs, and the rep/set/weight/rest functions are intuitive. I don’t use the social media portion of the program so I can’t comment on that, but as far as the actual workout documentation piece goes: I like the long term metrics (I think the free version tracks progress across specific lifts and workouts for up to 30 days), I like the ui, I like how the previous sets/reps/weights are auto populated into subsequent workouts, and I like that little adjustments to workout details can be made without having to alter an entire routine. More often than not, the things I want to be able to click or adjust can in fact be clicked and adjusted. For a free app, it’s wonderful.

By

Important Features Missing

this app App is good. Except, during use, at the end of my workout, I realized that there was no option to save & update routine if you changed an exercise mid workout. You should have an option that saves values and a separate option that saves values and updates exercise routine. With a busy schedule, I don’t have time to go through and do this with a work around. Also, another annoying thing, is there is no ‘Next’ button to automatically move cursor to succeeding input box when inserting values while working out. You have to manually touch the areas you want to edit. Minor on the surface, but over time, the ‘Next’ button saves me time! Which, if you want to compete, saving customer’s time, is the way to compete in today’s world. Until you fix these issues, you get 1 ⭐️ from me. Add these features and I’ll change my review accordingly.

Really helpful illustrations/animations

I had a solid foundation in weightlifting as a teen but got away from practicing it as I got older. My focus with returning to weightlifting is on building functional strength to avoid injuries as I age, not body building or competition. Coming back to lifting as an adult with moderate gym anxiety, the this app app has helped me track progress on my weights and allowed me to make intelligent choices about increasing the amount I’m lifting over time. The feature I really appreciate are the illustrations and animations that help me confirm how I am supposed to do certain movements to make it look like I know what I’m doing even when I am trying new techniques for the first time or revisiting for the first time in many years. Having proper form helps reduce my anxiety that I will look silly at the gym. I also like the percentage summaries of the muscle groups that make up each work out so I can have a clear picture of which areas I tend to avoid and should be intentional about training. As a free app, I don’t think there’s a competitor that comes close to the features available without paying. Highly recommend for a health-focused novice-intermediate weight lifter.

Easy to use, but could use quality of life

This is the best free app I have come across for working out. It offers a variety of options and you are able to create your own workouts. Its nice to be able to see what friends are doing as well as be able to take suggestions from their workouts. It does offer upgrades in app in case you want to track things such as measurements (chest, bicep, etc) or if you want to create full 8 week programs for yourself/others. BUT they are not necessary! You can visit other profiles in order to get new workouts or full programs. They also allow you to use a general search in order to find exercises easily. This is a GREAT feature as its easy to look up things I have never tried and also see a video on how to do that exercise.

The only criticism I have is their mileage mechanic. For walking/running/etc, you put in how many miles you went and how long it took you to go that far. I typically do not track this, as i am on a treadmill. I watch my speed and how long i am on that speed. Not only that but if i wanted to do timed sprints on like 11.7 mph, I now have to calculate of far i went after my timed sprint finished. I wish i could input my time and speed and/or distance.

Overall, extremely helpful and convenient. Only inconvenient when doing certain cardio exercises.

Fantastically pragmatic and too easy to use!

I was a personal trainer before, and utilized small workout-tracking notebooks. I loved the functionality of them, but it was inconvenient to carry around a small booklet and a pen to every machine. Additionally, it was a hassle to search back previous pages to find things. Hevy makes it so much easier: you simply plug in the numbers and play. On your next workout, it shows you in phantom figures what your last sets and reps looked like and with how much weight. The exercise catalog is nearly comprehensive, but the custom feature allows you to punch in new exercises or simply put a new variation of a machine that’s not already listed. I love being able to borrow routines that other users have saved when I want to change things up. Overall user experience is great. And I see new features or tweaks periodically, which is encouraging. Highly recommended to almost everyone I ever work out with.

This app is amazing!

I’m honestly surprised that it is free. There is a paid subscription option, but from my knowledge, it doesn’t even effect Hevy unless you have been using it for more than 3 months. Even then, the subscription isn’t necessary, and you can still do everything the same as before.

Hevy helps with fitness in many ways.

Consistency: You can log and see all of your previous workouts, making you want to keep going. It also keeps a weekly streak, which is also motivating.

Beginner Friendly: There are loads of workouts that you can choose to do through Hevy , including body weight, weightlifting, and machine exercises.

Track Progress: You can track which muscle groups you are training, your body weight, and how long you are working out per week.

I really have no complaints with Hevy, it is the best workout app I’ve ever used. The only thing that comes to mind when I’m thinking about what I want to do with Hevy is I want to buy the lifetime feature instead of just having a subscription. The lifetime purchase I believe is 75 dollars, which I’m just not sure if I want to spend on Hevy .

Currently I’ve been using Hevy 3-4 days a week for the past 5-6 weeks and I really do enjoy Hevy . I’ve even recommended it to my friends and they have started using it as well. I just want to thank the developers for such an amazing app for exercising!

Great customizable lift app!!

I decided to let go of my trainer and try lifting on my own with the knowledge I have gained. I was trying to find an app that would allow me to customize my lifts, choose how many sets/weight and keep track of each week.
Hevy does everything I hoped for and more! I love the ability to add my own exercise, even if they aren’t in the database. There is a database of different exercises you can choose from to build your plan. If you like to progressive overload, Hevy allows you to track that! If you do drop sets, failures, or warm up sets, it tracks that too! Customizable timers for each exercise and I believe the ability to superset/stack exercises. I also like how I can take a photo at the end of each session to compare progress via photos!
I’ve been so happy with Hevy and believe it’s a lifters BFF!

Great App & future AI training

This is a phenomenal app for tracking and logging your workouts. Having Hevy show you how many reps you did last workout is such a game changer compared to using a physical copy of a workout book. Where you have to flip to find last workout details and manually add every single info for each workout. I have been able to make further progress in my decade of training because I’ve been able to easily scale and visualize the total volume and work I’ve been doing for each exercise. I highly recommend the life-time subscription as the developers are always improving Hevy .

Question: Will you guys add in AI training will the advances in AI? Maybe workouts or exercises that help improve certain weak-points? AI auto regulation to help further push or progress exercises like Juggernaut AI?

So far… It Does What I Need It To Do

this app said I’m 25 workouts in and a review would be appreciated, so here I am. I was an old school pen and paper person because the phone was distracting, but now with these “do not disturb” options, an app to workout is the way to go. I like that I can see a chart that shows your progress from your past workouts. It also saves the last weight amount you’ve done on the previous exercise, like if I benched 100lbs for 10 reps a few days ago, I know I can aim for 11 the next session. You can add notes as well. Once you get your routine locked in, after about a week or 2, it’s pretty memorized anyhow. Then I stick with it for 2 months or so. The free version gives 4 workout plans, I think that’s great to get people trying Hevy and interested in its features. What Hevy can’t do is the actual fitness journey for you, so you need to stay consistent, if you do, then the premium version looks appealing. We’ll see how Hevy goes as I continue to use it and update the review accordingly.

Almost perfect by missing a major one

I have been jumping around using different apps for the last 5 years since I started doing workouts in my late 40’s. As a busy business professional with a family, my goal is to keep myself healthy and hope to live a longer quality life. this app has a great simple UI and available at various Apple devices including Apple Watch complications. It is better than other alternatives and definitely a plus. Yet it is not that far ahead. I expect others could easily catch up or even run ahead.
As many fitness YouTubers started to emphasize, the key in fitness is about reducing frictions to actually do the workouts. Since I don’t have any impressive figures or stats, the social sharing features are more or less a blah and sometimes a distraction to spending time on workouts or other better things in life. I could see how some people would really enjoy that.
So it hasn’t drawn me enough to upgrade to Pro. I found myself usually pay for apps that are lean toward helping me to get the main things done faster, easier and more consistent. What would take me across the line is having Apple shortcuts and api integration. So I could automate with Things3, Streaks, Apple HomeKit, and NFC tags and increase my chances of actually do the workout and use Hevy .
I’m looking forward to become a paid customer when these integration becomes available.

Outstanding

I worked out for years carrying around a piece of paper and a pen to track my exercises and reps and sets. I made the switch to digital tracking through Hevy. I cannot even express how wonderful Hevy is. You can build your own custom routine. If you want to replace an exercise with another one it will give you suggestions. You can add in rest periods so that Hevy will keep you moving. You can look at the diagram of a body and Hevy will highlight areas that you've worked out. It keeps track of all of your reps and sets and weights. You could do charts over time. I use it to track running and weightlifting. I only touched on some of the features. I got the paid version and I'm telling you it's worth every single penny. Whoever developed this knew exactly what someone needs when working out.

Get it

Free version is great and completely functional, I paid for it and regret nothing. Its got about every exercise I can think of and I’d a great resource for the seasoned weight lifter or the new guy coming in. I’ve been out of the gym for about 12 years and just started going back and having a set plan of what I’m going to do keeps me focused and moving. If you’ve done an exercise previously it’ll show you how many you did so you can easily see improvement and help you remember what weights you used. It has a map of your body to quickly show you which muscles you’ve hit in a week and some positive stats to put perspective on how much you lifted. It also easily allows you to search for exercises by muscle groups for building routines, and you can easily set up a new routine if you’re too sore to do what you had planned.

The only con I’ve noticed so far is that it doesn’t seem to track calories burned during cardio and heavily favors weight lifting, and as someone trying to lose weight and build muscle it would be nice to track that expenditure more than time or distance. But, that could also be something I haven’t discovered in Hevy yet.

the primary gym buddy + bonus actual gym buddies

I thought I already wrote a review - and maybe I did - but figured I'd pop over here in case I haven't. I previously used Strong (which was convenient because you can transfer data from Strong to this app) but switched over to this app when a friend recommended it to me about two years ago. Hevy is so easy to use, and I Iove how I can track various metrics on here. The design is minimalist, sleek, and I never encounter any insufferable bugs (which is pretty rare for fitness apps!). I purchased the lifetime pro when I first downloaded it because I knew right away I'd be using it forever. By far, the best part of Hevy is the social feature - it's fun seeing what my friends are up to and maybe telling them to lift heavier, lol. The desktop browser is wicked sleek, too, and I like using it to build my routines as I find I'm faster on computer rather than phone. I recently started playing around with this app Coach to write programs for my friends (i.e. my "clients"), and so far I'm really enjoying it.

It's also been really fun to watch Hevy grow over the past couple of years. I'm still waiting for the "work out together" feature 😉 But overall - 5/5 stars. You literally will never need another fitness app ever again.

Best Workout App

Pros:
• Has almost every exercise you can think of and always adding more.
• Search for an exercise by movement type, muscle group, or nickname.
• “How To” section has step-by-step instructions with nice animations.
• Intuitive logging experience. Quickly edit and build your workout on-the-fly, or create a workout plan ahead of time (or copy one from someone else’s profile).
• Browse progress history for any exercise. View max weight, volume, and reps. Very rewarding to see graphs go up overtime.
• Workout summaries are fun to share and have nice designs.
• Social functionalities with a great community. See what others are doing, compare PR’s, take inspiration.
• Premium version is cheap, often goes on sale, and doesn’t take away much from Hevy at all.
• Compatible with many services / smart devices.

Cons:
• Free version locks progress history beyond a certain time period (3 months, I think). The data is still there, but you can’t see progress beyond then.
• Free version restricts some body measurements like bicep circumference. Thankfully, body weight tracking is still available in the free version.
• Like any method of logging, it can be distracting.
• Not every exercise has animated videos in the “How To” section, which can be more helpful than the written instructions as some instructions aren’t very clear.

I have not been paid to write this review and have no affiliation, I simply love Hevy .

Simple to use and track workouts

I managed to log 25 weightlifting workouts using Hevy in a gym, and currently do a push, pull, legs split. I was able to find 90% of the exercises and machines in the menu to build workout templates and track my progress. I was also able to substitute exercises and machines that were close enough to what I was doing for the remaining 10%.

It’s very easy to add or remove an exercise or machine to your workout template if you want to try something new. The workout templates save the changes if you add an exercise or machine for the next time. Hevy also shows the previous sets and reps when you start a new workout, making it very easy to progressively overload. It also shows the days you worked out in a month so you can keep track of your total workouts.

The only negative is that Hevy does not provide an overview of all your workouts in a given period. As such, it takes a little efforts to figure out if you completed a training block so you can deload. I get around this by maintaining a journal at home so I know when to deload.

Awesome tracking app!

This id a phenomenal workout tracker. There are, of course, features and changes I would like to see but development is very active so I’m sure I will see them added eventually. Overall, it offers most features I would like. If I were to ask for one feature, it would be the ability to program progressive overload automatically. Otherwise it does what I need!

The most unexpected feature that makes Hevy phenomenal is the social component. That was definitely not something I was looking for, but it has turned out to be my favorite part. You can follow people and post your workouts. The people that use the social component are some of the most supportive people I have ever interacted with. I have never seen one negative comment which is refreshing give the state of fitness content on other apps. I am legitimately making friends through Hevy , which is not something I knew I wanted. Don’t underestimate the social component of Hevy! The community truly sets it apart from other options.

Great workout app

Before this, my go-to was tracking my workouts on paper. I had tried a free workout tracking apps, but most require a monthly subscription after you use them enough. At the time of this writing, it was $80 one time for unlocking premium forever, which in turn will give me access to my workout history and metrics as long as Hevy exists.

I do a lot of progressive overload weight training, Dance Dance Revolution, and East and West Coast Swing Dance/Lindy Hop. Hevy allows for the creation of custom exercises, so I’m able to track all of that. It’s also got Apple Watch integration as well as Apple fitness integration, which I’ve become addicted to. I kick myself when I forget to put my watch on when I go to the gym because the Apple Watch integration makes it incredibly easy to go through my custom workouts.

Hevy is free with no ads, and what you get really feels kinda like Discord Nitro did in the early days (you get premium to support the developers, not because you get a lot of stuff from Hevy ). I would have paid $200 or $300 one time for what I get out of this app.

The best workout app

I have been using this app for a few months now and I am very impressed with how it helps me plan, track, and improve my workouts. this app is a simple and intuitive app that lets me create custom routines, log my sets and reps, and view my progress over time. this app also syncs with my Apple Watch and Health app, so I can monitor my heart rate, calories, and other metrics during and after my workouts.

One of the best features of this app is the social aspect. I can follow other users, see their workouts, and give them feedback and encouragement. I can also join challenges, compete with others, and earn badges and trophies. this app keeps me motivated and accountable, and makes working out more fun and rewarding.

this app is not just an app, it is a community of fitness enthusiasts who support each other and share their goals and achievements. this app is the best app for anyone who wants to take their fitness to the next level. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a smart and easy way to track their workouts and stay motivated.

Great, minor import bugs

Rating 5 stars because it’s clearly well-made and it gets the job done in a really neat UI. I’m going to use it a few months longer before locking myself in, but I see myself buying the lifetime upgrade in a few months.

Good:
-Apple watch synching is much more seamless when compared to Strong.
-Visuals available in the free version
-Great muscle group visualization in Hevy to remind you what muscle groups you have not worked in the last week.
-Tweaks in the UI makes it slightly after to work with compared to Strong.

Less good:
-I don’t love that the default tab is the social media side. I’d prefer it to be history or a measurement panel to remind me to tweak those occasionally.
-This exists in Strong and this app, but it would be great to be able to navigate around the routine while the rest timer is still active. In both watch apps you have to cancel the timer or use the phone app. Minor quality of life inconvenience.
-Exported data from Strong and found a couple bugs: [1] If you exported data in one unit (kg) and import it in the other, Hevy doesn’t know. Maybe a user dialogue to verify that the exported unit is the same would be helpful. I haven’t checked yet if there’s a deeper problem on specific items and whether Strong exported everything in one unit. [2] I change time zones frequently and found that there was a one-day offset on many workouts due to that. I’m not certain that’s the cause yet, it could also have been the leap year day.

Thanks to this app I have gone from a beginner to a novice!

I have tracked 50 workouts with Hevy over the last several months. There are so many benefits to using Hevy. Every gym day I start an empty routine and then add each workout as I go along. I love that I can look through the catalog and be reminded of what workouts are available for each muscle group and each equipment catalog. Without Hevy I would not be able to keep track of what workouts I can do. I love that it keeps track of my previous records and devises a method of recommending me workouts based on previous workouts. I will continue to use Hevy. If I have one recommendation for the developers, it would be to add even more workouts. There are a ton already in here, but there are few that I don’t find in the catalog that could be easily added. I am thankful that their is a feature to add custom workouts for record but still. The more workouts the more I expand my workout diversity!

Excellent Workout Log and Tracker

Hevy has been exactly what I’m looking for. I have tried 5 different workout logging apps and none have them have fit the convenience and versatility that Hevy provides. Logging workouts is quick and easy especially if you add a routine, it will track your progress and let you know how much you lifted on your most recent attempt at that specific exercise. There is a huge library of exercises, more than I have seen from and other app. Many different variations wether your looking for dumbbells, barbells, machines, cables etc. If your big on tracking your progress, Hevy provides very easy to read graphs and stats and much more so you know where you stand day in and day out. The layout is smooth and not distracting, I personally enjoy black or dark colored backgrounds and layouts. Hevy has everything you need and nothing you don’t. Versatile with the ability to add friends and post, comment and “like” workouts, similar to social media but of course this is not necessary and you can simply use Hevy as a log, if that’s what you prefer. Very pleased with Hevy and would highly recommend.

All the features w/ ease of use!

I’ve tried all the workout apps, and this one by far has had the best support, with the most features, but is still simple to use. The Apple Watch integration updates simultaneously between Hevy and your watch in real time. Which makes it so much easier to record reps and sets. I didn’t think I would use the Apple Watch feature much but now I can’t imagine not using it.

Using, or setting up your own, routines is so simple compared to other apps I’ve used. You can do it on your device, or on a desktop PC. I’ve done both and it’s equally as effective and easy.

It does communicate and record to Apple Health and Fitness app, as long as you give it permission. This is where I have my only constructive feedback. If you pause your workout in the this app app (which is useful and frequently necessary) Apple’s Health app still thinks you’re working out and records workout minutes until you completely end your workout. Fix that and it’s the perfect app! (of course that could be an Apple ecosystem issue and have nothing to do with this app)
