When you buy the book you don’t get access to the online manual! What a rip off. I would expect to have access anywhere I am shopping and not have to bring my book or make notes and carry scraps of paper like I was living 1995. This is the technology age Hornady, get with it. I am gradually converting to Sierra bullets, it’s just easier to to find what you need when you need it. Also found that Hodgdon and vitavhouri have great apps that give you great reloading information right on your phone. Who need the 13th edition of Hornady’s reloading book. The problem is that with changing from their book also means am going to be buying other manufacturers’ bullets, dies and all the other consumables. Sorry Hornady you missed the reloading press (lol).

Bought the physical book..not paying for this

I bought the physical book. HornadyReloadingGuide seems like it had all the same info just I could pull it up on the iPad. The book even has a page directing you to download HornadyReloadingGuide . Yet I can’t view any of the info for anything in the 11th edition book that I own. I’m not paying 20 more to get the same info in HornadyReloadingGuide . These vendors need to get their stuff together and give apps that don’t nickel and dime when they aren’t in the business of software micro transactions. They are a company that makes bullets and reloading stuff. It’s insulting that this is such a bother. They only have data for their bullets too, so the info is all in brand. Just give the info for free, like every other manufacturer. Not $0.99 per cartridge.

Won’t load, constantly gives error

Got HornadyReloadingGuide when the 10th edition was still available; just prior to the release of 11th. Worked fine for a while, and only paid for the calibers I needed. Now I can’t even open HornadyReloadingGuide without constantly receiving errors, and when I try to log in or out, it freezes and crashes.
From reading the other reviews about HornadyReloadingGuide, this problem has been ongoing for over a year now, and nothing has been done to correct it.
Not sure if it’s an issue with the recent iOS updates, but come on Hornady!

I’m glad I didn’t get the subscription. Save yourself the pain and just get a copy of the book, HornadyReloadingGuide is useless.

Get a hardcopy

HornadyReloadingGuide is handy…until Hornady decides to “upgrade” the data. At that point you can no longer see or use the “old” data that you already paid for. So if you didn’t take a screen shot of it (because you have this handy app), you’ll have to buy their “new” manual or buy access to the “new” data for each caliber you reload. This means you are screwed out of access to the old manual that you already paid for. And this is why you should always have a hardcopy of your reloading manuals. There is no reason for Hornady to block access to their old data inside their app, other than greed. I refuse to be held hostage after a purchase. If I bought it, it’s mine. Otherwise it’s called renting. I detest that business model. Fortunately for us, there are plenty of other excellent bullet manufacturers out there. So I’ll easily and happily find another ammunition source.

No longer working

HornadyReloadingGuide was great up until recently. Now every time I try to select any cartridge to view data I just get a large error box written in html. I click OK, and a blank cartridge page is displayed. I click to select bullet weight and get the same error box. I am not sure what the issue is, figured it would sort itself out like maybe it was just time for maintenance or something, but it’s been days now with no easily accessible option to report a bug.

Decent app, Good reloading info, Videos have no sound, No offline access.

HornadyReloadingGuide works pretty well, I do wish older versions of the manual were available on HornadyReloadingGuide to purchase/access. I have 2 complaints/issues with HornadyReloadingGuide . My first is the videos at the top of HornadyReloadingGuide have no sound. They are linked though Vimeo which may be the problem but I hope that’s corrected soon. The biggest issue is not being available offline. I understand the database would need be downloaded for offline access and the space required for this, but this should at least be an option for users who don’t have the best cell service/Wi-Fi access in there reloading space.

11 months for an update?

I understand how it must be difficult for an ammunition and hand loading company who’s been busy introducing new cartridges and plagiarizing other peoples cartridges (6AR=6ARC->22ARC), but can we get new data for other cartridges in a timely manner? It’s been 11 months since an update and that doesn’t necessarily include an update to data, it may have been internal to HornadyReloadingGuide . Dozens of new powders and bullets and no new data? Still facing a worldwide powder shortage is forcing many of us to switch to alternative powders as usual powders become unavailable. We need quality data to make safe decisions. And we trust Hornady to give us reliably safe data in a timely fashion.

Just Buy the Book

The full text version in HornadyReloadingGuide won’t download. I paid twice. Apple will not refund and won’t say why. Contacted Hornaday and am still waiting a response. I’m sure that will come in months if ever. By reading other comments this is a major issue that has been ongoing for years. Better yet buy someone else’s book, Lee, Sierra anyone’s but this one! They’ll pay attention once it’s unprofitable.

Update: Hornaday contacted me and granted access with a years worth of updates. I appreciate the effort to right this wrong. Increased from 1 star to 3.

A few changes needed

Please make the Owned checkbox persistent between sessions. Also, after looking at the reloading data for a bullet weight and you go back, make it go back to the bullet weight selection page, not all the way back to the cartridge main page. Many times it’ll even take you all the way back to the menu instead. Changing those things would make this enjoyable to navigate instead of annoying.

$20 bucks for the hard cover book, $1 per caliber in the app..

So they give you a some free load data but for the popular loads you have to pay a $buck to unlock the data for each caliber. If the data was laid out better it might be worth it but the cartridge info is in one place and the bullet in another. It’s nice to have the data on your phone, the caliber, bullets and load data is easy to locate. They do give you a note and range card area for personalized information. It’s an ok app just not great..

Great but could be better

Is basically an easy to use app version of the manual. With a subscription it gives you access to updated information sometimes not available is published versions yet. Also with a subscription you will get a printed version of the 11th edition when it comes out. I really like it a lot.

It would have gotten 5 stars if the range log section was more developed. I’d like it to have fields to fill in for velocity, bullet type, powder charge, extreme spread, standard deviation, group size, firearm used, etc instead of just an open note section.

All in all though I really like it and I think it’s a long overdue development from Hornady.

Great reloading resource

Very pleased with HornadyReloadingGuide, it puts Hornady’s load manual in an easy to use electronic form. Hornady includes data for the ir new cartridges so I won’t have to call in anymore. It includes the new ATip Bullets too which is nice since they aren’t in the latest handbook.

You can favorite the cartridges you own, keep notes and a range log to keep track of all your info on your phone or tablet.

Was pleasantly surprised to see this included a table with the Numbers of all the die sets, Shell holders and other reloading components.

Handy and Useful App

Great app! Very handy for referencing load data without needing access to the big, heavy book. In addition to using it as a loading manual, I use this when shopping for powder, which is currently scarce, to see if the stuff on the store shelves is useful in any of my preferred calibers. I also like just being able to buy the calibers I need, rather than the whole manual.
*****Suggestion***** It would be nice to be able to upload pictures to the “Range Log” or “Notes” sections of HornadyReloadingGuide . This would allow a visual way to keep track of which loads were most accurate.

Now it works

After many months, Hornady’s loading app finally works -and works very well indeed. Also, as if by magic, the Hornady Handbook, 11th Edition arrived today via USPS. So, all’s good finally, and I hereby take back all the harsh things I’ve said in previous reviews. Now, please return the 7x61 Sharpe & Hart to its rightful place in the Hornady Handbook. If page count is limited, there are plenty of other lame and/or orphaned cartridges to toss overboard first. One candidate for an expedited walk down the plank to Stygian eternity: 7x65mm R. Likely there are several times more rifles active for the 7x61 S&H (which, after all, is an American cartridge) than for the European 7x65R, which can be used only in drillings/single shot/doubles.

Good useful tool. 1 problem

I compared HornadyReloadingGuide load data to one in my books. The loads are exact copies. One problem I have with HornadyReloadingGuide , it won’t Open without being connected to either cell service or wifi. The Sierra app works without connection I don’t know why this won’t. Another feature I like is being able to access certain calibers, keeps things simple than having to flip through pages for just calibers I load. The side scrolling feature looking through velocities and loads is nice, available info from the books is nice to have on demand. Are there any plans to allow HornadyReloadingGuide to work without cell service or wifi?

No viewing offline?!

If I would’ve known that you can’t view items offline I would’ve just purchased the book and not HornadyReloadingGuide . Paid for a 1 year subscription and am seriously disappointed. People use apps for ease and convenience. Already cancelled the subscription as I will just buy the next book. When you are online it’s easy and intuitive and a great app to use but no offline viewing kills it.

For on the guys

I shoot a lot of Hornady brass and bullets. It’s nice to have this application on my iPad. Much easier and faster to take anywhere.
Of course getting components these days is almost impossible! You can thank the best gun salesman in world history Mx Biden! I’m sure that was not his intent. Manufacturing is behind by over 640,000,000 rounds of ammo.... for just the 34,000,000 new guns he sold ( one twenty round box for each new gun sold).

Cut the clutter, stop guessing

I am 65, and as far from a techy as your going to find. As matter of fact, the computer age workplace, and my love to shoot expedited my choice to retire. The hornady apps are easy to use, friendly to view, and keep me current. My reloading room is crowded enough. I can now clear the shelf of aging manuals. The free ballistics app improves my grasp on where to aim and stop guessing wrong.

Hornady Reloading Handbook

Superb reloading resource to the best bullets made. “On your phone” convenience gives you the opportunity to look up data or leave yourself notes when not loading or make notes when you are. Automatic addition of new data never leaves you without the most up to date data available to a reloader.

Ramy

My husband recently purchased me the tools that I needed for a wonderful new “hobby”
We have been recreational shooters for many years. We are law abiding citizens and are grateful for the blessing of being born in this beautiful country. Due to the changes currently facing our country we thought we would do ourselves a great service and make the ability to obtain ammo a little easier. So my sweet husband bought me a new reloader and dies for our guns. You guys get the rest. It gives me great pride to do each bullet with great care. Being able to help him take care of our family is a service of great joy. I take great pride in everything I do and I must say that I really think he is proud that I’m good at it and that I love doing it. This has been a one of those unexpected hobbies that has brought us closer together. He also takes great pleasure in knowing that if worse came to worse I would not miss.
