Because of the virus, our parent Corp. asked that the Doctors start using this app. It’s new and it doesn’t seem like it was developed by a practicing veterinarian. Their customer support is great, and this could be a great app, but it’s missing some features. I’ve emailed their support, so hopefully these get added in the future:
- Camera has to come on when you take a call, no option to leave it off until after you start talking to a client
- No option to get a transcript of a consult. Not even if it was done all through the texting option of the app. You have to go and re-copy everything after the fact.
- No timer or reminder if you accidentally leave the app on after you’re done for the day (I’ve gotten called in the middle of the night)
- Accepting a consult/call only takes one tap on your phone or AirPod so it’s easy to accidentally take a call in your pocket.
- If your client calls and you are busy, there is no way to call them back or see what pet needed your help after the fact for a follow up.
- No way to see if who is calling is a client of yours or someone else’s (they’ve said they’re working on this one)
I think once they’ve fixed these issues it will be a pretty good tool for doctors and clinics.

I’ve been using AirVet for a couple months now, and have been very pleased with the platform and recent updates. Only suggestion I would make is to create a feature where vets can set their hours to allow requests to come through from clients. Right now I set an alarm on my phone to remind myself to turn it on, but sometimes forget to turn it off.

The feedback I get from the pet parents I help is amazing. They are so appreciative, and the fact that they were able to video chat with a vet at any hour is so comforting, and much better than “Dr. Google” or running to an emergency clinic for something that was not an emergency.
