It works, if you’re paying attention

Pay attention to the Login that you’re asked to create for this, so you can Sync your ODFW account with MyODFW system. Seems to work just fine for the most part. You’ll easily create a headache for yourself if you’re not paying attention when asked to create an account. If ones created and you already have an existing odfw account, you’ll most likely end up phoning for help.

Always room for improvement, MyODFW needs another walk-through. I dislike the e-tagging feature, but I’ll ask for a hard copy next year since it cannot be changed once you choose, another thing I dislike.

If I am spending over $100 for a combo tag +harvest card, I should be able to change my choice from “e-tagging to a physical copy” if I do not like the E-tagging.

Ignorance must be bliss

Everyone out there that is complaining about MyODFW is the same group that thinks ODFW can do nothing right.

I got on MyODFW and verified all my account information by paying attention and reviewing all of the information presented to me entirely. The system was extremely intuitive and I never once ran into an issue. I reported all on all my hunts from last season, purchased my licenses, permits, and tags for this season, used several of the provided links to review the updated regs check my profile information.

MyODFW has had some issues at launch and anyone who has a brain can imagine that new software applications NEVER get it right the first time around. To ODFW, GREAT JOB!! You had a mountain to climb here and it was a big one. You hit some boulders on the way up but you appear to have rebounded nicely.

I look forward to using MyODFW out in the field this season and I encourage all my fellow hunters to ease up on their state wildlife management systems. These people would lose their jobs if we didn’t have hunting so it makes no sense to think that they are trying to act in a way that would restrict it.

Frustrating

Frustrating summarizes MyODFW. This will be my second year using it and it has yet to improve. I was in the wilderness this week with not reception and I did what I was supposed to to make sure it was still available. During my hunt I checked my app and it had an error resulting in me shutting it down. As a reminder I have no reception so the prep I did when I had reception was now useless as it’s not available. Out of fear of not being able to tag an animal I had to drive 2 hrs (1 hr each way) just to get reception to get it back to offline mode. I asked for paper tags this year and they said I had to go to the odfw office to do that (really? COVID and they want us in person). The frustrations continue to stack up year after year and if it continues I’ll be spending my money so support out of state wildlife than Oregon.

Makes life easier

I don’t see how people are having problems with this, unless they just have difficulty following rules and order. I was sure there would be some bugs to fix which was true. My voucher for my bear tag was not on my profile, so I emailed ODFW and within an hour they got me my voucher. This makes it easy to tag your fish. I fish with a lot of people from out of state so I just send them a link and they have their tag before they show up. When I meet my guest in the morning and they don’t have their license they can buy it on the way to the river. Makes my life and my job a lot easier.

Problem signing in if you have account

Had to call Salem to report on my tags for hunting. The new system would not recognize me as having an account. The person I spoke with was very helpful took care of my reporting and made sure my information was accurate in there system. What was missing from there new app is three bars top right corner of sign in page looked at example pages on MyODFW purchase page and the three bars that I was told should be there is not even as showing on MyODFW install page example
The three bars don’t show up until you are signed in. Was instructed to go to my local field office for help.

Typical Oregon rollout

I delayed purchasing my license and permits until ODFW had a few weeks to work out the bugs. This is a typical Oregon rollout (recall the healthcare fiasco and an emergency system that spent millions and didn’t work, being abandoned!with little coverage). I tried to print a tag, put in waterproof map paper, returner to the site and the print page was gone. I went to the recreation profile to reprint and I am blocked because the document was already printed. Also I can’t print my combination license because there isn’t a button to select it. I us three other states systems and I haven’t encountered any issues like Oregon’s. Save your time and wait until they go through several iterations to correct their app.

Can’t sign in

The user name and password boxes stay blank when I type in them so I can’t sign in. They used to work last season but don’t anymore. Also, e-tagging didn’t work when out of cell service which most hunting would be. I had to wait until we had already moved the deer to a different location that had service even though you’re supposed to tag in the location you shot the deer.

I don’t see any way to contact anyone about technical issues on MyODFW...Convenient and explains why there’s a low rating.

Problem Fixed - Thanks, ODFW

Update: ODFW got my “An error has occurred - Please Retry” Fixed. I’ve updated MyODFW rating from 1 to 5 stars. Thanks, ODFW

———-

Setup and verified my account on ODFW website, and can login to ODFW website just fine. This ODFW app gives me login and password, then says “Loading”, and then goes immediately to “An error has occurred - Retry”.

Deleting and re-installing app does not help. Issue occurs on my iPad too, so the problem is not my Apple devices. ODFW support indicates they are not MyODFW developer, so they can’t fix it. So, I try again each week and report again to them on Facebook. They ask same question each week I report continued issue. They don’t remember me one week to next contacting them with same issue.

“Follows directions well”

If you follow the directions, and read. The website and app work fine. Sign up on the website using your previous license information and then log into MyODFW . It’s new and so I’m sure there are a few kinks to fix but the customer service is also very helpful. Sounds like a bunch of old men complaining because they don’t know how to use computers and they don’t like changes. 🤷🏻‍♀️

One Complaint

I jumped on this and is great for applications and purchasing licenses. However you still need to attach some kind of tag to the animal with all the same information that was already on your printed version of the tag and all you had to do is notch out the date. This has only saved odfw more money and now I have come up with my own tag. Great for tagging salmon tho. Some delays out on the water but hopefully a compliance officer would understand I don’t have any experience with that tho.

Great App

Really a great app and system now. The majority of negative reviews seem to be from people complaining that they don’t have smart phones(which makes no sense, just print it then) or from people with login issues(which can be solved by logging in with the same info as your odfw account online uses). Much better system than the ancient paper method.

Avid user

It’s nice to be able to do all I need this way. Though when getting the sports pack you’ll want to fix me. I had a brain cramp and didn’t realize that the $0 cost for tag was the actual cost and to purchase it that way. Now I know, don’t think this will be the last time it comes up though.
Really like MyODFW.

Combo tags missing cougar

Purchased my combo sports pack tags 1/1. Cougar was not included. Contacted ODFW and they were aware of the glitch. Not too excited about my tags not physically on hand so printing them out this year until the system is more trusted.

[The above was resolved a month later, thank you ODFW! (Although, the day after I posted this I walked into a very fresh cougar kill.)]

ADVISE: If you go with the print option only, take a screenshot of it just in case. You only get one shot to pint it out.

Now I have no license...

Since I ran the last update, which was supposed to a bug fix for iPhone, I have not been able to log in to my account, even after resetting my password. Repeatedly. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling MyODFW , to no avail. Now I am unable to access my $100 license and tag, so if I go fishing I have no way to prove that I have a license.

“Hey! Let’s do our fishing and hunting licenses online!” Great idea if it actually worked. But instead you are sending folks out into the field with a buggy app.

Uhh, not so good.

Set up an account, but when it came to how long you’ve been a resident they want exact dates. When I tried to shop for a combination license all was good up until payment tried to process, no notice if it went through and nothing in purchases.
My wife had issues with her SSN, the same one she’s used getting her license for the last 35 years, and now she’s on hold with customer service. Not a good start for MyODFW.

New app doesn’t open

When trying to open MyODFW , it will prompt you for a new version or to continue with your old version. When you click on update to new version, it will take you App Store and then and after you open the new app from the store, it will take you back to the same page that prompts you for continuing with old app or to update to a new one. This loop continues following no matter what - closing MyODFW , restarting the phone...neither will work, terribly frustrating

I phone electronic license and tags.

I have had some trouble in an area that have no service. Was checked today by state police and app would not load. Upon farther inspection I found that I had to close all other apps in order to load MyODFW . Officer was very accommodating. We both learned something as I had tagged a fish about 2 hrs earlier. Once phone cleared MyODFW opened up very fast. Thank you.

Probably not a good idea. Stick with hard copy

Though a well intentioned move with technology, I dont think this is a good idea.

Supposively, you information is stored locally on your phone, but last week I got checked by a State trooper to see my license. I was up in the mountains, no cell reception, and MyODFW so offline mode, then threw an Error message, and would not display my information. Luckily for me, the State Trooper was a nice guy and said they have had nothing but problems with this.

From here out, I will always have a hard copy of my license. You can never go wrong with that.

Keeps sending me back to app store

I have updated MyODFW and it works if I click “continue with this version” but I should not have to click “continue” when MyODFW has already been updated...please fix when able and thanks for fixing the offline issues!

It works perfectly fine

I’ve had MyODFW for two years now and it works easier than just having the license. The only problem I have is with tagging. There’s a glitch where I can’t tag any fish I catch that needs to be tagged
