Completely useless unless you pay

I understand charging for software, but this is nothing special. All this does is access a raspberry pi. That doesn’t even matter though. What’s annoying is that Homemanager is free to download, but you have to pay at least $5 dollars to use Homemanager . Why not just make Homemanager cost $5? Then I can know it’s not worth my time instead of downloading Homemanager , using it, then finding out I have to pay for features that are already built in the web ui baked into Homebridge.

Not free

This is one of those many times when I invest a lot of time making things work to later get smashed with a paywall… this is a glorified hack that works on top of another glorified hack and somehow people think they can make money out of it.

Guys, if I’m using homebridge (or hoobs for that matter) I probably already decided I’m not going to pay for any of these hacks. A warning would’ve been great 🙄

Good for what it does

I have run Homebridge before with a totally manual setup. I transitioned to Home Assistant and am exceedingly happy with it but I have a couple of devices that Homebridge currently supports while HA is working on supporting them. I set up a Raspberry Pi to run Homebridge and link it to my HA installation. Installing Homebridge with Homemanager is definitely easier than a manual setup. Where it falls down, though, is with .json support. There is none, other than giving you a link to a json validation web site. I hate working with jsons and hoped for at least a little help with them.

Excellent app

I use hoobs that doesn’t come with an app. this app does pretty much everything I could do through the hoobs web interface. The GUI is very intuitive and a solid build. The support is also very responsive. All in all, it’s a great app and value and I’m glad I bought it. Recommended!

Lacking HomeBridge on Linux

I would give it 5 stars but it does have two glitches that need to be fixed. It crashes every now and again. Also you can’t change the port. It forces you to use a 2 in your port number.

Where are my “Accessories”

Looks great but i can’t find my accessories, or devices like I can when I use the browser

Please add HOOBS Pro icon!

Homemanager has been great for managing my HOOBS Pro device! I would like to see some UI tweaks (it can get a bit confusing tabbing between plugins, bridges, and the main interface as they are all extremely alike) - perhaps a cleaner navigation or breadcrumb feature would be helpful.

Also, I still don’t see the HOOBS Pro icon as an option for the server, only the outdated HOOBS Box. Please add the HOOBS Pro icon so it can accurately reflect my device! (I’m a bit OCD about this stuff haha).

Can’t wait to see what this app 5 is like - is there a Beta I can participate in on TestFlight? If so, please let me sign up, I do beta testing for a number of apps (I work as DevOps for a tech startup).

Keep up the great work!

Brilliant App!

Homemanager is a “smart home” game changer. My family really likes Apple. I’d looked into HomeKit but felt the supported devices were limited, expensive and sometimes just not the best choices. I like having IoT devices and had everything already set up in SmartThings, Alexa and Google Home. I just felt like we were too far down the path to switch over to Apple Home.

I’d read about Homebridge, but it was a little deeper into the smart home pool than I was ready to dive at that point. Then I came across the HOOBS subreddit from the Homebridge subreddit I’d been on reading and eventually found this app. WOW.

In my opinion the this app app and HOOBS make adding unsupported HomeKit devices on par with adding devices in Alexa or Google Home. Especially with the Import Config feature in this app. Homemanager is so well designed and makes updating the configuration file for Homebridge really easy. You don’t have to worry about syntax with brackets and commas. It imports the sample config into a GUI form for you to simply enter parameters. Trust me, if I can do this, anyone can do it.

I don’t write a lot of reviews, but felt compelled to add one for this app. It’s my favorite app by far!

Great app

Really nice interface to manage homebridge. Great support too when you have any questions. Well worth the money.

Great solid app for managing Homebridge

App works great and is super convenient for managing Homebridge from your phone. Support is great and they’re always adding new features. Keep up the good work.

Absolutely Genius !!

This application makes managing HOOBS on a Pi super simple. Using a local machine is no longer necessary when updating HOOBS versions along with plugins. It sports a super clean informative interface as well. Can’t wait for version 3.

Node update support

It would be great to be able to update the node from here as well as the other features we have

Version 3.0 is great

Version 3.0 is a great update to an already great app. Managing my HOOBS server from my phone is quick and easy, as is checking status, logs, etc. (BTW, kudos to the developer for fixing the time zone bug in the log view so quickly!)

Thanks again for a great update.

The best at what it does

Great app. It’s for a niche purpose, but it has a ton of features. Kind of incredible to be able to control HomeBridge from an app. Great, responsive developer, too. I’m very satisfied.

Great App! One minor request

It seems to display the temperature in Fahrenheit and no option for Celsius. Homebridge is setup correctly (Celsius) so not sure why Homemanager is only displaying temperature in Fahrenheit. If there is an option in Homemanager , I have yet to find it.

Easy with outstanding support

Homemanager makes it so much simpler to install plugins as compared to when I installed my first ever plugin via the web UI some months back. Plus Ron has always gone out of his way as and when able to help and assist. Thank you.

Groundbreaking

After months of research and several attempts with other platforms. Homemanager flawlessly connected all of my devices with ease. It almost makes one feel foolish for not utilizing Homemanager from the beginning. I highly recommend Homemanager to anyone attempting to bridge the gap in smart home devices. Thank you-

The Best for Managing Homebridge (Hoobs)

Ron is super responsive to any questions or support issues first and foremost. Homemanager itself was a breeze to use. Once I purchased and setup the sever from Hoobs I was up and running with Homemanager in no time flat. Allowed HomeKit compatibility for my Nest Protect, Honeywell Thermostats and my Deebot robot vacuum. Can’t wait to discover other devices I can automate from developer additions/plug-in’s in the future (Nest Hello). Great app, well worth the in-app price!

Great companion app

I have now been using Homemanager for about 6-7 months and it had been completed rock solid and bug free. I would recommend Homemanager to anyone that has a home bridge instance. My one complaint is the licensing tiers; i don't mind paying for the software because I know it works great but I purchased what I thought was the pro tier but I guess was the middle one. I love Homemanager!!!

Highly Recommended

I’ve been using this for years. It’s highly effective at managing your HomeKit/homebridge network.
