Bad business practice

Making it so that only paid members can comment and share ideas about articles is a way to lose users, not gain members. This also sets the tone that only voices with money behind them matter. If your struggling that much for money, is it really worth continuing to be a business? Why not just add advertisements for non-paying members? That makes much more sense.

If your having problems with non-members spamming or commenting inappropriately, why not add moderators? There are so many better ways to do this.

A scratchpad to store stories

I’m using Quartz just like how I use pocket—instead of saving online content to the pocket, I pick it on this app, which, in addition to features offered by Pocket, also allows me to leave a thought/note if I’ve read through the story, or just pick it and I can read it and add a comment later. I also get to see what others are commenting, another useful feature I’m not getting elsewhere.

Not Quartz Brief, and not free

I'd been using the this app brief app until recently for news, but a few months ago they discontinued it and started pushing Quartz. After skimming through 2 articles, and trying to read a third, it came up with a paywall, wanting to charge me over $100 a year! I loved this app brief, and would probably be willing to pay a bit for it, but forcing us to change apps to a less friendly format, and pay a ridiculous subscription fee for any access to it at all is not cool. I hope they can bring this app brief back, I'm definitely not the only one who loved that format!

Mom Who Educates Her Children Well

I am very satisfied with the news feom this app—it is news not gossip. My thanks and appreciation to your group of reporters who know what real news is and work diligently to report it unbiased and reporting inly what is truly important and reporting the real truth about it without tainting it with agendas and personal interest. I love the fact that here at this app teeth is told as it is—as the teeth—and not changed or modified according to what the world would like it to be.

All your news in one place

A phenomenal app to read the latest and most important stories. Although my favorite part is the community aspect - Not only do I get access to endless quality content, but I also get to read comments from business leaders and CEOs. Quartz is great to gain knowledge on different topics and learn perspectives from people all across the globe.

Loving Quartz Brief and hope it back

I am using this app Brief for almost one half years and it really benefit me a lot especially when I am busy but want to scan some important news. Moreover, it provides the personalized service which pleases me a lot especially each of the stickers matching with the news. So I really hope it back><

Good idea, terrible implementation

Quartz is a smart idea, and the former this app app where you would get quick info daily was great. Charging for an app like this is trashy and cheap. The headlines are rarely funny, but they try. I appreciate the thought and trial, but they should not have removed the old app. Instead staying with that and actually providing a nice and helpful UI. If I want to just see headlines and alerts I’d download NBC or CNN. I could even use the Apple News app. 2 stars because the idea is there, but disappointing implementation.

Truth in the News

You guys are fair — that’s all I’ve ever expected or wanted from a news source.

The obvious impact from soiled news organizations, like CNN or MSNBC, has added to the collapse of media’s credibility.

Unfortunately, there are some unintended consequences to the knee jerk reactions to the most recent insurrection. Now that citizens are being forced to answer questions about who they voted for from military questioners ... Now that we all rely on the internet — now that everybody is a publisher, a journalist and an editor. Right? Is Free Speech in jeopardy?

Here’s the big problem: WHO is the big editor in the SKY? Exactly WHAT is FREE SPEACH?

Quick News is Click Bait

Quick News, more often than not, is just click bait. The very story that I clicked into, that resulted in this review, I have very low expectations will contain information. Instead it will have a whole bunch of “blah blah blah”, which will lead you past several advertisements, and result in four words that reference that headline, that lead you into this article, and will only result in disappointment. You Will feel, that you have been click baited.
If I wasn’t so lazy, I would’ve already deleted Quartz .

Great news content

I thought at first it was only this app news but it’s actually most of, if not all the major news publications. They do a great job posting breaking news. I love the social media aspect of it, and it’s nice to read expert input to understand the article from different point of views. It’s my new favorite app.

Great content but app a little laggy

Love this app for its content. Quartz is well designed too but deducting two stars for two drawbacks: 1) Quartz can sometimes feel a little laggy. 2) too many advertisements for a paid subscription.

My go to

I love the variety of stories on this app. I also enjoy the daily feed with multilingual and multinational links to other journalism. As a teacher and professor, I have encouraged all my students to sign up to this daily well vetted source.

Poor writing and moderation

this app involves click bait titles with some internal this app articles that are badly written by problematic nihilistic writers pretending to be woke. One example is an author who midway through an article on motherhood choices questioned whether life was worth living at all. This is poor writing and worse editing. If you want to question the value of life itself then write an article with that title.

I would recommend using another news app to allow reading news from better and more diverse news sources.

To make your reviews even better

I feel your revues are superb.
I love your history, your discussion of amounts and portions.
I don’t see how your episodes can be improved
What would be great is a list of last 5 or 10 topics that can be opened
I always read your discussions

Great news app

I’ve been using the this app daily brief app for a while and I really like it but i think this one is even better. So far the comments have been thoughtful and informative and the featured articles have been good. Would (do) recommend.

Unbiased News Source

In this day and age it’s hard to get reliable news in one place. I have found this app to be the most reliable news with in-depth journalism vs. other news sources barely scraping the surface.

Ads clash with articles

Miss the old app. Can’t manage to read anything now without the page jumping up and down, shifting multiple paragraphs at a time, due to a new ad loading with a different size format. Really can’t hold my attention and only makes the experience frustrating. this app always had neat features and I’m sad that I felt so annoyed to the point of deleting Quartz . Maybe I’ll try again in the future

News with knowledge

I used to use lots of news apps everyday, switching between them trying to find the best stories. Tiresome.

I’ve been a huge this app fan for a long time, and they gave me just what I wanted. Curated news, expert commentary, and a great community!

Deserving rating.

Excellent up to date information and very easy articles to bring out the truth. Interesting and full of invigorating articles.
Thank you and keep it up.

Very confusing layout

Some interesting content here, but the layout of Quartz is very confusing. I often click on notifications for articles that just lead to the home screen of Quartz . And the search function doesn’t help in finding the article that Quartz brought to my attention on the lock screen.

The most interesting news..

I don’t read all the news out there for the obvious reasons, but Quartz throws some headlines out there and I can choose to ignore it or not. I like the format of Quartz and the variety of news sources.

More of The Same

Just another in a series of apps that claim to be the end-all in news coverage that does little more than tap into other news outlets. They even offer “FOX “News.” If I wanted to be misinformed I’d go directly to their website.
I don’t want an app with ads (I’ll pay to avoid this) and I don’t want a news app that is laced with videos. I don’t care what the CEO of a furniture empire looks like.
I just want to read unbiased news without input from the source.

No more newspapers

I’ve been an investment banker for many years, always reading the physical newspapers. Now, I’m just using this app, as I find the community aspect really appealing.

Still get the paper every morning, but I just don’t find it all that exciting.
