Disappearing workouts?

StrengthLog layout is redundant when it comes to planning workouts and viewing the history/browsing other workouts, having tab customization along with hiding irrelevant sections would be much appreciated. The auto-suggestions for common exercises are handy instead of having to type them out, and the muscle diagram helps with knowing exactly which parts of the body you are targeting, but the core function of StrengthLog for logging and completing sets is lacking. For some reason, planning a workout to be done on the same day is a hassle, there is no confirmation button on the date scroller, so you have to pick some other day in advance, back out, then re-edit the date just to have it planned on the same day. It is also not made very clear how to mark a workout as done, you end up having to tap the small blank space to the left of a set. If you tap anywhere else you just edit weight or rep amount. The most frustrating bug is having complete workouts disappear if they are saved on the same day; I have looked through multiple sections just to try remaking the same workout and having it vanish all the same, even after confirmation. As it stands, the cluttered and maximalist main page hitting you in the face with statistics and graphs instead of getting right to workout planning and logging makes this a three-star app. Kudos to this app however for not locking essential functions behind paywalls or even paying to register an account.

Really 4.5 Stars… Almost Perfect

StrengthLog is a great app for logging workouts and making sure you are progressing. My only complaint is the Apple Watch feature.

If you’re logging a workout through the Fitness portion of the Apple Watch and simultaneously using the Strength Log app on the watch it will automatically stop the workout through the Fitness app. I record workouts through the Fitness portion to track heart rate and calories burned. Not sure if the Strength Log app on the watch does the same.

Otherwise great app!

Perfect. Simple. Free.

I never write app reviews. Going out of my way to write this review, as StrengthLog has been a game changer for my workouts. Without StrengthLog, I’d try to do it myself via the Notes app which got confusing and unorganized. StrengthLog helped me to hone in on my progress and push me to my limits.

I’m a beginner when it comes to fitness, and this has been my new personal trainer. I’ve seen tremendous progress and StrengthLog has been the main driver. Thank you for keeping this free, I’ll be a life long user for sure.

Amazing

I’m an intermediate lifter, but have worked out through various means all my life. I have done one workout with this app. StrengthLog is the most intuitive and useful app I have found when it comes to lifting.

Tons of free built in workouts, offline use, optional customizations, and an amazing UX/UI. I’m in college and don’t have the money for premium, but I’ll be going through the free workouts until I have the spare cash to subscribe.

Thanks to the devs! Amazing work!

It’s exactly what I needed!

StrengthLog is great! Logging your progress in general is so important and StrengthLog makes it super easy! I love the rest timer built in. I recently discovered it can be adjusted! It would be cool if at the end of the timer it flashed an alert like with silent messaging. Or even a buzz so if you have it in your pocket while resting you’ll feel it vibrate.
I just saw you can add videos to StrengthLog ! Stoked to do that to start visually tracking progress.

Most useful

I was looking for a way to log my workouts. I couldn’t find anything that suited my needs and I found StrengthLog. Strength Log is awesome even if you don’t pay for the premium version, but I liked StrengthLog so well that I decided to pay for a 3 month subscription. I have not been disappointed. It has everything I have been looking for in a workout log. The exercise gifs and explanations are top notch. Keep it up! Good job!

Great weightlifting app!

Amazing how much you get with this free app. You can totally log, track, and understand all the exercises you want to do. If you are new, StrengthLog has built in video showing you how to do StrengthLog . If you travel, and your normal routine is not available due to equipment, they app has multiple alternate exercise suggestions to help you still get your workout done. If you get serious, the paid version has some nice upgrades. Love it.

Simply amazing

This is just an awesome app. It simply has every feature that I’ve always looked for in a strength training tracking app - and quite a few I didn’t know that I wanted, but now are key to my tracking.

Frequently updated with more features and a great freemium offer.

I started out with the free version which is really good, but quite soon shifted to premium, partly for the extra features, but also because I really want to support StrengthLog!

Best App Ever, free or not

I am not a consistent person. I struggle to follow a program. I also waste time looking up form, how to do a workout, I just don’t use my time well at the gym. StrengthLog is a game changer. It can set up a program for you, provides a video on “how to,” as well as written instructions, allows you to swap out and exercise with one click, and all that for free. Anyone that works out should have StrengthLog. I’m done looking and paying for garbage apps. Thank you Strength Log for existing.

Awesome App and Features

I’d looked everywhere for a good app for logging my weightlifting and keeping track of my weights for progression. StrengthLog is great! Even the free version doesn’t limit functionality and It has great visuals. I love the virtual barbell where you can see the different plates loading on the bar as you add weight! The ability to add videos of you performing each set is a great feature that could be awesome for creating memorable lifting logs and seeing PR’s!

Kudos to the front and back end devs for making such an aesthetic and functional app!

Great app!

When I started my weightlifting journey a couple of months ago, I had no idea where to begin. I came across StrengthLog, and it has been a lifesaver! I love that it gives me entire workouts, and I can use those without trying to figure it all out on my own. Customer service has been absolutely wonderful. they have responded to my questions within a day each time . I originally started with the free version, but quickly upgraded to the monthly plan, which is only a small fee. Well worth it to have access to all of the features! LOVE that there are video clips of each exercise for reference. I use those every time to guide me! I also like that you can switch exercises and it will give you suggestions for an alternate to use in case you are unable to do the suggested one. Very nice feature! You can also choose between dumbbell, barbell, kettle, bell, bodyweight, or machines. This is a wonderful feature as well. I highly recommend trying out StrengthLog!

Great App!

I don’t normally write reviews but I feel I really need to for StrengthLog. First I used StrengthLog for almost a whole year, for free. There was never any pressure to sign up nor do they make you put up a credit card to register. StrengthLog is very easy to use and rarely has any glitches. There are lots of programs to choose from for every level of fitness. I am 57 and in the best shape I’ve been in for years! Thanks too the staff who run this. Also make sure to scroll through some of the exercises videos, there are some good ones in there.

Definite 5 Star

StrengthLog isn’t cheap. In this case though you get what you pay for if you’re serious about lifting. I have searched and searched for an app that would let me design programs based on percentages and this one is the only one I’ve found. I would have paid for that feature alone.

However, StrengthLog is well designed all around and loaded with features. If you think there is data that isn’t included the chances are you just haven’t found it yet.

Customer service was responsive and helpful when I had questions.

Great for lower back

I was looking for a workout plan that had squats and deadlifts as a major part of the program. The strength programs focus on these exercises and there are articles and educational emails that aim at increasing my knowledge. I really appreciate the extra knowledge. I love how easy it is to track my reps, weight and how it keeps track of what I did last time.

I avoided lower body workouts for a long time due to a constant sore back. I have learned that my weak lower body and back was most of the problem.. I am feeling much better and my entire body is stronger and healthier after just a few weeks of dedicated training.

Great App!

Really liking StrengthLog! I am 55 years old, lifelong runner, and other cardio guy. I recently decided it was time to begin serious strength training. I found a link to StrengthLog in an article about beginning, weight training. After trying the free version for couple weeks, I started paying for it. The free version alone is great but I wanted the extras in the premium. Also the developers earned my money and I want to pay them. I love the workouts, both the free and premium provided in StrengthLog . The tracking and analytics are super helpful for “seeing” my progress. Demo videos great for learning . Related articles are all based on latest strength and hypertrophy science. 8 weeks into my program and looking forward to keeping it going! Thanks for the help!

Great app

This is an excellent app. It has a ton of exercises in its library with thorough demonstrations and descriptions, with links in each exercise to similar exercises, and it’s easy to create your own if they don’t have one. It also has links in StrengthLog to articles on the website about recent research or general advice for strength training. It’s easy to use for planning a workout and during a workout, has tons of programs to follow, and makes it easy to modify those programs or plan your own as needed. The monthly challenges add a little interest and motivation. And all I’m describing is in the free version, not only with the subscription. Honestly, you get a sense in the challenges and articles that the people behind StrengthLog really care about what they’re doing and about making a great app to help people of all levels maximize their strength training enjoyment.

Best tracking system

I found this app over a year ago when I was looking for something to guide me and show me how to do my workout and how the exercise is actually done. I love that the option for three month subscription,a one year subscription, or month-to-month subscription is so nice.
I like that they have a written description and a video description on how to properly perform the movements, and that if you don’t like that exercise, it shows you another exercise you can do to get a similar affect. I’ve enjoyed StrengthLog so much that I was super excited to find out that they have a podcast now that airs in America as well. I enjoy the podcast and these guys have helped me be comfortable where I’m at doing what I’m doing versus me thinking I have to be perfect before I can even go into a gym. I love the motto. It makes me laugh every time I hear it, because it’s so true. train hard, eat well, die anyways.

Intuitive, Powerful, Content-Rich Training App

It’s like somebody read my mind and built a strength training app that works exactly the way I would want it to if I was smart enough to think through everything and design it well.

Entering workouts while working out is actually not irritating (magic). I love the ability to start a workout based on your last workout, which eliminates 35 years of wondering “how much did I lift on this exercise last week?” The exercise documentation is great, the muscle map visualization is useful, and even the company website is full of high quality, informative content (100 thanks for the carefully referenced article on training over 50, super useful). And I even find the basic total weight moved graph very motivational (I am a simple animal).

I haven’t even moved past the free version yet, but will soon upgrade for the additional reporting, and to support the development of a top-notch app.

Easy with lots of great features

First, there is a free version and paid version, BUT you can get A TON with the free version. I have the free version and do no feel lacking in the features I have available! One of my favorite features is the plate calculator. You can type in a weight and it’ll tell you how much weight to put on each side of the barbell. I also like that you can see previous sets of that same exercise while in your workout and it doesn’t need to on a previous set in that same workout, it just needs to be the same workout. So sometimes I’ll check how much I did last exercise and not feel like doing the math of how much to put on each side and all I need to do is type the weight and it’ll tell me how much to put on each side. The downside about this though is you can’t do the reverse, it won’t let you put the weight in by how much of each plate is on each side. Overall a great workout logging app, highly would recommend!

Fantastic App

If you love training data and quantifying your progress, this is StrengthLog for you. It still has a few user experience kinks to iron out (especially for their USA user base) but you can tell the team truly cares about StrengthLog , their founder Dan is passionate about training, and if you communicate an issue or bug to them, they get back to you promptly. Highly recommend StrengthLog; it will only continue to get better. 5 Stars!
