Dirty Linens; overall ok

We were quite pleased with our stay in Battery Park. The price was affordable and we got a whole modern, fully equipped studio to ourselves. But once we had been there for a couple of days we noticed the devil in the details. I can live with most of the weird things of the space, but the biggest thing was the cleanliness of the towels and bed linen. Some of the towels were badly stained. It looked like they were washed, but not with bleach or anything that would take the stains out. Though it wouldn’t be a big deal in your own home, it’s gross to see and use towels that were somehow stained by a previous guest. It shows a lack of attention to detail and cheapness. Some of the pillow cases also smelled of sweat or mildew. Not all smelled that way, but it made us feel disgusted and we were wary of the other pillows. We couldn’t wash the linens using the in unit washer/dryer because the dryer wasn’t working, which we found out because we washed some of our clothes and then couldn’t dry them. These mistakes, though seemingly small, make a big difference. Me and my guest both work in hospitality and know how important cleanliness is for guest experience.

Terrific Sonder experience in Detroit!!

I wasn’t familiar with this app before this trip but will always look for one from now on when I travel!

Great concept - entry to building and room via touchpad key number emailed in advance, so dependent on no one “on the ground”. My studio spacious and totally outfitted with everything needed for a comfortable stay including full kitchen with full size fridge, 6 place settings, pots and pans and full compliment of cooking utensils, big screen TV, dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer and chrome cast to play my music and shows from all my apps on the TV, right from my phone!

Couldn’t be happier! And all for a VERY reasonable cost! Thank you this app!

Impressive hotel and app

First time using this app and I was surprised by how good it was. I stayed at a new building in midtown Atlanta and you can tell that everything was thought through to give a great end to end experience. Sonder was easy to use for several things include booking, 0-touch checkin, and even ordering extra things I needed in the room. Will definitely stay again and recommend to friends.

Lovely!

My first time using this app and I will definitely be using it again (I booked through Booking). Everything is so easy. The apartment is absolutely lovely. Sonder functions well, and customer service is easy to contact. I’ve been looking for an alternative to Airbnb for a while and this is it. The cost is about 50% of what hotels in the area are (Savannah). There is construction on the road the building is on, but this was made aware to me before finalizing. I will say the walls in this particular location are very thin and I can hear the next unit’s tv like it’s in my own unit, but it isn’t a huge problem.

A few more amenities needed

First time staying at the Sonders Seattle. Nothing fancy but clean! Could use a few more hooks especially in the toilet area and a shelf on the wall near window would be handy. Also a laundry area to wash and dry clothes will be extremely useful. Also a small microwave would be nice. A microwave in the lounge area would be great if they don’t want to put one in each room.

You can hear the toilet flushing from above the room and the heater is loud when it comes on. Location is great if you like the Capital Hill area with lots of restaurants and bars.

It’s good for one person or a couple with small luggage since rooms are small. They are strict to check in time which is 4:00 pm.
There’s no elevator so if you have heavy luggage that would be difficult. Parking is a hassle. I recommend using app share rides.

All in all, small, clean rooms good for one to two people. Nespresso machine in the room is an excellent feature!!

Disappointed Stay In Chicago

While the concept is greatly appreciated: I also wish that they put enough effort in following through with the maintenance of their units as they do their unit designs.

Had to vacate the original this app unit I booked (broken bed base, cans of paint in unit, loose lightbulb on kitchen shelf and a bag of broken apart door locks above refrigerator cabinet) to another unit outside our desired neighborhood to another this app building; only to find that the kitchen sink had a leak, saturating the kitchen floor and wetting any cardboard basics that this app provided.

They could not relocate us again, could not provide us with an adequate time table to when the issue could be resolved; and could not refund me, when asked for one, in the likely hood of checking out earlier.

They did provide this app credit to me to use at a different time: which in likelihood I’d rather pass on to someone else who may have a better stay with this app then I did.

A mess, poorly run, go through Airbnb

Go with Airbnb or book through Airbnb. this app app and support is a mess. Basic confirmation emails or details about listings don’t get sent out even 24 hours before your stay. Support is extremely bad and disorganized. Technology is awful, unreliable, and extremely buggy. Their processes do not protect user privacy & expose user data to security issues. Didn’t realize the first time I booked with them Airbnb was covering up so much slack on this app’s end. They also don’t share basic information about your lease with you even after you pay. They set it up to take maximum advantage of customers. They do not treat repeat customers well either.

Wonderful customer service

We had an issue with our room and Shannon with customer service was extremely accommodating and helped us. The team is very responsive and wants to make sure their guests enjoy their stay. I definitely recommend this app and look forward to staying with them again in Savannah and other places!

Terrible

Do not book with this company. I planned a month in advance and booked a this app. They had ALL of my information, the reason for travel, and my money(paid in full.) Everything was set until the day of. I go to look for my check in instructions and there aren’t any. So I reached out asking for them and I was told they would look into it and then within minutes my reservation was cancelled permanently. This was the day of my reservation! Their system is flawed and they absolutely ruined my plans and kept my money for days after as well. Choose elsewhere if you don't want to risk your plans being ruined the day of.

Refused refund or credit during COVID

this app states on their ads and website no questions asked refunds or credits for cancellations during the pandemic. However, when I attempted to cancel my reservation last week for travel to Dallas, which was cancelled due to the travel ban put in place due to COVID pandemic, I was refused any kind of credit or refund. I called customer support - the girl would only read off a general script, the same script, every time I asked a question. First time I used this app and the last. I never write reviews especially negative ones, but when I saw them falsely advertising I had to say something.

A very poorly planned and executed App

For an organization that seems to pride itself on offering a hip, stress-free experience, my initial encounter with your this app property in Boston was anything but that. The check-in experience was awful. I had to wait 1 hour to just get through the front door and access my room (think full bladder). The web app is full of bugs. I don’t think this app will be successful with their business model with this poor of planning and execution. Here’s a thought: How about having an actual human being on site to assist people trying to just get through the front door?

Non existent customer service

My experience with this app has been plagued by issues:
-broken furniture
-noisy neighbors w/ no enforcement
-malfunctioning light fixtures
-dead power outlets
-repeated early morning fire alarm tests
-and most infuriating- glacially slow WiFi.

I’ve contacted the customer service chat robot on all of these. About 50% of the time you’ll connect with a human. But even when that happens, they are offsite and couldn’t care less about your issues. I was promised calls that never came and ultimately only one issue was actually fixed. The WiFi issue is especially severe. I don’t understand how a modern housing complex in the NYC financial district can have WiFi speeds that are reminiscent of dial-up. So much for being a tech enabled company. I’ve had to use my cell phone hotspot to get by on zoom meetings.

I have a 3 wk booking but unless the WiFi is fixed tomorrow, I’ll have to move elsewhere. Will never be back.

Best home away from home experience!

Incredible communication; Well equipped facility and felt safe with regards to covid-19 precautions. A lot of little extra steps taken to make us feel at home. They even surprised my daughter with a birthday package (they knew this was a birthday getaway)

Constant communication with accommodating our needs. Can’t wait to use this app for future travel needs.

First Time in Los Angeles!

Easy to book

Using Sonder made it very easy to book a reservation to the place we wanted. Very easy to change check in time with Sonder when running late.

Evicted During Covid

I’d give this 0 stars if I could... was notified via email (not even a phone call?!) less than 48 hours before I had to vacate a property I had paid through August. Potential legal issues aside during this time, it’s just poor customer service. They said they lost the lease on the property and would like to relocate us 30 minutes away in cheaper (but similar!) accommodations. Would never use them again and absolutely would not recommend them to anyone I know.

Family of Four

The hotel was fine. The location was good for transportation but pretty dicey. Lots of noise and homeless people around. Police and activity. Phone was stolen from the communal bathroom of the hotel by another guest. We could hear it pinging in their room. Staff friendly but not knowledgeable. Beds comfy but very creaky and hard to sleep with all the rustling and noise outside. Would not stay here again. Though our kids enjoyed the bunk beds and chatting to the staff.

Horrible service.

If i could give these people zero stars i would . My reservation got canceled Twice and both times i was on the phone with customer service back and forth all day . There is no supervisor to speak to and obviously the staff doesn’t know anything because i got so much different answers from the people i talked to. I constantly asked questions to make sure that i wouldn’t have problems with the reservation and still did. UNACCEPTABLE!

Avoid at all costs

Possibly one of the worst stays I’ve ever had. First, the room displayed looked great for my my NYC stay, that is until I showed up. The wallpaper was disintegrating, the bathroom as a mess with pipes getting clogged. I had random this app service members banging on my door at 8am the day of my check out. Why? I have no idea. Reached out to this app about it and never received a response.

You’re better off staying at an actual hotel for your stay. Especially since it’s similarly priced.

Well Designed and Intuitive Travel App

My one suggestion for improvement is to allow for the ability to make additional reservations from Sonder once a reservation has been confirmed. I couldn’t get back to the listing search screen once my reservation was confirmed in Sonder .

Not a pleasant experience

This was my first and now only experience with this app. Their customer service is poor. They do not communicate with the locations they offer. There was a lot of confusion between the “hotel” and the system verifying I had set up my account. It honestly seems like a scam to get your personal info more than help with booking.
I would recommend any other app and service over this app.

Not worth it if you’ve booked through Airbnb

I booked with this app through Airbnb and was promoted to download their app. As I was traveling abroad, I thought Sonder would help make communications easier but Sonder isn’t really helpful unless you book directly through this app.

Sonder also just contains a ton of web links so save yourself the headache and keep communication within Airbnb!

Pointless. No ability to book via app

Not sure why this app created an app if consumers can’t book a place to stay via Sonder — you know, the basic function of the company’s entire business model. Oh right, Sonder helps me “keep my reservations details at hand.” I guess there’s no other technology — such as email — that could do this. Disappointing digital consumer experience thus far.

Complete waste of phone space

I booked an apartment through one of their partner sites and then received a message directing me to get the this app app to access details of my reservation. It’s a scam to get marketing info. The reservations made through partner sites don’t actually live on Sonder . They just gain your marketing info and try to promote future reservations. Don’t bother!

Terrible service.

Got into Boston and was on the phone with these clowns for 40 mins at 11pm outside the building in the freezing cold while they worked through their own technical problems to get me my check in instructions.

Much prefer staying with Lyric, or a hotel.

Can’t book via app, it’s like they’re stuck in 2007 when apps kicked you out to the website - what’s the point? I have email for keeping track of my reservation and don’t need more marketing and notifications, so I’m not sure why this exists
