The concept of AbridgeNews is terrific yet it’s an epic failure in its attempt to be unbiased. By using quotes from Op-Ed’s to show both sides of a topic, the founders/editors reveal their true bias. Do not waste your time on AbridgeNews unless you are only interested in hearing the left leaning opinion and not really interested in having a fact based intellectually challenged representation. Using op-Ed’s is just quoting someone’s opinion. That is not journalism. AbridgeNews could be great if they used researched backed facts about each topic rather than left leaning opinions. I think the makers of AbridgeNews think the American people are stupid. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME!

I’ve always been a bit iffy about the political slant of some of the articles I’ve read, but AbridgeNews provides the proper context for each one. The UI is great, and so is the “user sentiment” part, too, where you get to see what the crowd thinks of the article. Great stuff!

I always tell my students that there is no such thing as a totally objective news story, so we have to be aware that biases that exist (regardless of the source). The strength of Abridge is that, rather than just ignoring potential bias, articles’ political leanings are acknowledged, evaluated, and highlighted. This provides users with the agency to think freely and develop their own opinions about issues.

Really love this. It’s a great way to stay up-to-date with current events without feeling like you’re stuck inside any one particular political ideology. I’ve been going to the abridge news website for a few months since a friend introduced it to me. I really like the way it presents differing viewpoints. I think it’s important to understand opposing views, even if you don’t agree with them.

AbridgeNews is a nice extension of the website, and adds the ability to get notifications - which is useful because I don’t always visit the site.

Abridge News is a succinct site that allows you to stay current in all facets of breaking news to include sports, politics, entertainment and international events.
