I Love It! Great App! A Few Things Should be Added

This is an amazing app for anyone looking to start boxing and for those looking to get good boxing workouts. There are a few fixes I would recommend:

1. Get the workout plans part of PunchLab to work. I tried using it and the weeks won’t scroll. Perhaps fix what’s going on with that collectionView if that’s the part of uikit your using. Make the whole thing work if you don’t do the workout the same day you set the plan because you’ve already worked out. Allow me to check when I’ve worked out and gotten my first sweat. Maybe I did a different workout. Make the length of the workout plans vary, 4,8,12 weeks should do.

2. Fix the metrics. I am a bigger guy and I know that when I am working out I am burning more than 54 kcal. Make the calories metric change based on your weight and length of the workout and how many punches thrown. Make the punching metrics more accurate.

3. Add more metrics that could help the user. Example would be introducing combinations and time in between combinations so someone can improve how many combinations they throw within the time. Or track how many combinations you throw throughout the round or workout. I want to improve on my speed between combinations when I get tired towards the end of the workout. Having that metric will let me know if I’ve been improving in that area.

Great app but continue to iterate on this. You guys have a great thing going here.

Current member

I like how PunchLab teaches me boxing and how to do things properly. However, I have an advise. The voice during training and the training videos are off. For example, the trainer would say Jab Jab cross and the animation video haven’t even finished the first jab. In addition, those animation videos are hard to follow because they are like an animated gif and it’s not easy to follow during a box session. I find myself having to stop punching to see exactly what the video is doing about 3 times before my mind process it. It would be better to have a video of the boxer rather than 3 animations per session. Lastly, it would be great if the live classes were not voice but an actual live video of the trainer doing the class.

A great app for a specific audience.

I originally submitted a one-star review, but quickly found out the secret ingredient to PunchLab’s potential (and success so far): Its founder, and the service the team provides. They reached out, explained their roadmap for development, and we recognized that I’m simply not the audience for this. So who is?

I’m not a boxer, I was looking for boxing-based cardio workouts. I’m not a pro, I needed some curation and guidance, not just training accountability. So no, this wasn’t PunchLab for me, but it might very well be for you.

If you’re a real or aspiring boxer, this app will hold you accountable and mix up your training.

If you’re used to working with a boxing trainer or coach in a gym, this replicates that at home nicely.

If you’re looking to become a better boxer, PunchLab can help.

And if you like following good developers and smart people, who take big risks and try to do what’s right for their customers, this is a group worth following and supporting.

Day 1 and I’m ALL in

Was looking for some good cardio that raised the heart rate and took out the demons within. Did one 10 minute jab workout and I’m hooked. The accuracy of the punches thrown and the degree of power behind them thrown was truly amazing. I worked up as sweat in ten minutes!! I’m a CrossFitter, Weight lifter and occasional distance runner. This is such a perfect cutout or all out replacement from the monotony of doing the same thing over and over. Best part is the convenience. Rolled out of bed, threw some kicks on and went to work.

Loving it so far

I’ve used PunchLab several times without the phone strap and thought the workouts were really good... especially the pace, instruction, and boxing moves. When I received my phone strap and started tracking my workouts it really took it to another level and increased my motivation.

One complaint is that I can’t hear the instruction when I’m listening to music. Not a huge deal, I want to focus the instruction. I’m looking forward to more workouts.

Great but..

Great app! I look forward to it being updated more with more training routines for Muay Thai.. The only gripe I have is on the strap itself.. My strap tends to slide down after hitting the bag a bit so I end up having to adjust my momentum trying not to punch or kick my phone haha but over all great! Maybe find a way for stay stationary? I used velcro tape and it seems to be working ok for now.

Solid app, solid workouts

I’ve logged in 10 workouts so far and I really enjoy PunchLab! I usually write my boxing workouts down but PunchLab allows my to follow instructions and work on combos as if I was working mitts with a trainer. The workouts are great and pretty tough.

There are only a few things I would like to have on PunchLab going forward is,

1. When in “QUICK START” mode I want to have a bell to start the round, sticks for 10 seconds left in the round and 10 seconds left before the next round starts, and a bell to end the round just like they have in a boxing match. Right now it’s just a bell to end rounds.

2. I hope they routinely add boxing HIIT workouts because right now they are slim pickings.

3.I also hope they add longer workouts.

Other than that, I find PunchLab extremely helpful and makes my boxing workouts more fun. If they had those three things I mentioned I’d give this 5 stars.

Wouldn’t recommend

If you’re looking for an app that actually teaches you fundamentals of boxing then PunchLab isn’t for you. Only designed for maybe a “workout” the combinations you can find almost anywhere on the internet. Also never received the so called strap to monitor punches. When I emailed them that I never received it after they checked to see how I was enjoying PunchLab . They said there was an error and they would ship it out. Never received anything and this was months ago. I just gave up. For the price tag you can find much better on the internet as I did. Hope this helps someone else save their money

So Far So Good

I had a heavy bag that wasn’t getting much use. I tried some of the verbal training apps, but I found the lower quality audio distracting and it didn’t always function with my music app running at the same time. PunchLab has higher quality audio instruction, my music plays in the background and the punch tracking is a nice addition to keep encouraging me to keep at it. The price for the whole program is a ton lower than the other boxing programs too. I’m very satisfied.

Unsure

I purchased my year subscription a week ago and my belt has still not shipped. It shows “packing” on PunchLab . It takes a week to pack a simple belt?lol And PunchLab itself has issues; sometimes nothing happens when you tap on different options. I’ve been tapping on manage subscriptions and nothing happens. To make matters worse, there’s really no option on PunchLab to contact their support team. If I have a subscription, I should at least be able to reach out to someone for help with issues. I’ll update once I get the belt and start using PunchLab but it’s been a rocky start already.

PunchLab is the Man.

this app what can I say, y’all Da man, I love PunchLab. it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. For years I have even using “Boxing Timer, the one with a big red glove 🥊 as it’s logo. I like Boxing Timer too, no shade at all, I like how Boxing timer lets you Bluetooth to your music. Now about this app, PunchLab. has so much to offer like the punch count, which I love. The many classes they offer, the quick response from the this app team on sending my belt for my iphone. I didn’t expect it to be shipped so quickly, about 5 days. I have my own routine I do, so I just select the [timer] for right now. It keeps accurate punches and calories burned🔥

Thanks this app

Add HIIT boxing workouts

So far I like the application. If you add HIIT boxing workouts I would definitely subscribe and give the two stars. Also would be great if you could control the different volumes on the phone separately while using PunchLab and music in the phone’s background. It’s hard to listen to the instructor when the volume control on my phone keeps PunchLab volume and music app volume at the same level.

Really a great app

This is just such a cool idea if you’re interest in combat sports for exercise. Obviously you’re not gonna become Rocky by doing these workouts but it’s a really fun way to get a sweat going. There’s instructional videos, short workout videos, and long workout videos tailored to all types of people. Really cool idea and executed really well too. Keep it up guys!

Good for intermediate boxers

I needed boxing drills to supplement my boxing personal training sessions. Shadow boxing and drills are good. The audio is good and clear.

I would love to see some technique focused kick drills and an ab workout in the fitness section. It’s also unclear whether the sequences are updated or not.

I’m eager to check out the belt function but I’m not sure when that will be arriving. I write to customer support and will update my review when I get to work with the belt.

Best App I’ve Seen

I have been working on kickboxing for a year or so and started getting serious about 3 month ago, gyms that teach you very little charge almost 100$ a weak. But PunchLab really finds you some free lessons that help based on questions they ask you!

Hope it doesn’t change and keep adding classes. Best app I own!

Really Nice App For Starters

PunchLab has been amazing, sure I’ve only been on it for a day but it is starter friendly it shows you examples unlike other apps. The reason I am giving this a 4 star review is because I wanted to but the member ship but they don’t offer a free trial or anything like that or a 1 month membership for the people that don’t have enough money to buy the other memberships.

Works so well

I am on the first week. I used to wrestle and play football. I have been living pretty a sedentary lifestyle lately, working long hours. This gives a 10-15 minute workout where I am sweating profusely, breathing hard, but don’t feel like I am going to die and want to come back tomorrow. Glad I chose this as my journey back into fitness.

Awesome

amazing app for an amazing workout. you can choose from so many different types and different lengths. from HIIT, to boxing, to muay thai, it has it all!! Very great coaches as well. they know what they’re talking about and they’re very informal. this is an app for everyone. not your professional athlete, but the person really wanting to get started!!

Love PunchLab!!

PunchLab is the absolute best. For less than the cost of a month of gym fees, you get an entire year. It motivates me to hit the bag four times a week. The instructors are great at keeping you motivated as well as giving you advice throughout rounds. I’m sold and will buy my subscription each year! Thanks for all the fun! I love it.

Prime time

This is the G O A T boxing app right now. Already a fan for the voice training but the tracking takes it to another level. Seeing my power and how many punches I’m landing is a great motivator to push even more thru the work and next one.

Always updating and listening to feedback from users. Dope!

Kickboxing Bobbie Jo is excellent

I normally go to the gym for kickboxing classes but I was unable to go for a while and I came across this app on Instagram and I thought I’d try it. They have a variety of classes and a visual on how to perform the combos which is great and bonus ~ the trainer motivating you through the whole class. I don’t have a bag at home but nonetheless you do work up a sweat and the trainers are awesome! I guarantee you’ll love it as much as I do! Give a try!

I love it

Been doing this for a couple weeks now
And I have to say I love the direction. I’m not someone that needs to be yelled at to get motivated so this is good for me. I know how to throw punches and I know how to fight but it’s so much easier when my brain can take a break and I can be told what to do what combos how hard and how fast. Keeps my brain guessing and heart pumping! Love this!

Great for all skill levels

I been training for a couple of years now and next to live sparring, this app has become one of the most effective and valuable tools in my arsenal. With challenging workouts that cover a wide range of fundamentals and valuable skills, I believe this is app is essential for new fighters or experienced fighter who want to up their game.

Outstanding!

I tried this app a few weeks ago and decided to order the wrist trackers to really get serious again about training. I’m a little ways into an intermediate program and love the energy of the trainers, the quantifiable progress, and the flexibility to box on my schedule!

10/10 - Must have!

Fantastic and Well Prices!

I was looking to find a cost effective option for trackers and subscription - this satisfies both.

While I received a $20 per year discount (which is what I believe is roughly fair) for subscription, once you sign up you get a discount on the trackers - I chose the bag tracker for $35, so for less than $60 I have a viable workout plan for a year and beyond.

Bag strap tracker (uses your iPhone) is accurate and workouts are easy to follow, what more could you ask for? Perfect for fitness and learning the great sport!

Awesome boxing app!

Love PunchLab a ton! Has motivating coaches and good developmental workouts. I do wish that on their leaderboards they would differ between those who shadowbox or use really lightweight gloves from those that use a heavy bag and heavier ounce gloves. It’s evident that those on top of the leader boards typically are using the wrist sensors and shadowboxing. However, I look forward to working out every day and have already lost over 30 pounds doing these exercises.
