The idea behind Accountable is great. Having used QuickBooks online, the idea of a similar service for my German freelance income sounded perfect. Upload your invoices and expenses, categorize bank transactions, and submit monthly tax payments, all online. Cool.
In practice AccountableSelfEmployed is only about 70% finished. I dread using it. Never before has an app left me lying awake in bed at night.
It crashes, data gets lost, inputs get reset. You spend a full day inputting all your invoices for the year, and then when you export them for your accountant they all look the same, and need to be re-done.
Finally you've been using Accountable for a year and you need to update your tax rate. That's not possible. So you need to open a new account for the next tax rate. Accountable can't move your data from the buggy account to the new account due to privacy reasons, so you need to export your invoices and import them. Except that importer can't understand Accountable's own invoice format, and crashes.
To be fair support has been great... and I can sympathize that launching a new product is hard. I think after hiring a couple more engineers, a UX developer, and working out the kinks for a year.... this could be a useful app. But for now it's too buggy to trust.
