Was a great app

2022-05-23

Version 2 was great, awesome, unique and a must install. Now version 3 and not much has changed but a new pricing model. Why??!??? I paid lads than three months ago and would not mind to upgrade to version 3. Show me the benefits and what is better about. Why not have a discount for version 2 holders? Then on top of that you have a subscription mode? Why do you give me a pro “upgrade” model and then ask for subscription? Ugh. Did Adobe or Microsoft buy you or something. Another day another app that wants to jump on the SAAS model. Very unhappy. I guess I will convert all mobi and epub to pdf or just import into iBooks. Another app down the tube. What is the point of a “subscription” model for this? I understand making some money and keeping it updated so charge me a flat fee. I use it once a month or so, so I am not doing the rolling subscription. Uninstalling and keeping version 2 until a response is heard or you roll back on the decision. I have a cloud subscription for iCloud so why can’t I download and sync with that? I have all my ebooks there already and would love it to see your team utilize iCloud fully. Why get in the business of making a book storage server? Apple and Google can do it way better and cheaper. Please rethink this and stick to what you are good at. Creating a book reader. If this continues I hope Apple buys KyBook3EbookReader and rolls it into iBooks. Win-win for me. Thanks anyway.

Kybook 3 issues

2022-06-24

I have been using KyBook3EbookReader for a couple of months. I originally liked it. It reads pretty much all book formats and it is actually reads the book for you. I was excited until I got to 50 books and realized I can’t sync with my email, google drive, or even create an account. I looked up this issue online and I see a lot of people complaining about the same problem. Even the people who pay for KyBook3EbookReader have these problems. This needs to be fixed ASAP. I need to sync my books with my email so I can read on any device I want and not be limited to my phone only.

Nt as good as I had hoped, some major bugs

2022-07-25

Iwas hoping for an all inclusive reader, but this isnt it. My pdfs don’t sort with my epubs, even under the same subject. If fact, they are not visible in the library at all. I have to search for pdf to find them. Alphabetic sort uses first word, so any book starting with “the” sorts under “t”. The sort also differentiates between capitol and lower case, so, for instance, Taco sorts after Cookie, but before cake. There is no documentation that I can find, either in app or on the developer’s website. All in all, a disappointment.

It’s okay...

2022-08-26

It’s basically just like KyBook 2 (which I used before) except you have to click on different stuff in different places. I guess there’s also more voices but I have always used Nicky so they don’t really matter that much to me. KyBook3EbookReader has a bad habit of skipping to random parts in the book and one time actually caused me to hear a spoiler. But I’ll finish on a good note, I LOVE how you can do text to speech and exit out of KyBook3EbookReader and it still keeps playing! I love it because I like to draw what I see in my head so I draw on an app (I’m not plugging in a review for a different app) and I listen to my book on here!

Probably the best multiformat reader avaible

2022-09-27

It good, reliable and easy to use and the OPDS makes it the easiest to connect to commercial and private/personal libraries. The developer answers are sometimes hard to read (and may seem rude) but that is mostly a language issue.
Some of the developer decisions are of questionable value - e.g., books wrongly labelled as iso1 when they should be labelled unicode8 are not displayed well on kybook while the Apple books app displays them well - and refusing the use of heuristics when others use them - made me to spend some time and effort to relabel some/many old books (with scripts) that where all usable in other readers. The decision to monetize by charging for sync through a subscription is understandable (the developer has to make a living too) but I am not sure it is wisest.

Good app but has potential to be better

2022-10-28

I really like KyBook 3, particularly it’s ability to handle multiple book formats. Being able to customize your theme is also a feature I really like. Where KyBook3EbookReader can be improved is in the syncing capability. As of now I have been unable to create an account to login and sync. If I open a book on KyBook3EbookReader on my phone, the iPad version doesn’t sync so I can access my annotations. I often switch between my phone and ipad so having KyBook3EbookReader back up to the cloud or sync is important. For example, I can read imported books on the kindle and iBook apps and my annotations are synced across the devices. The lack of synchronization capacity is the main reason I have not made KyBook 3 my only/main reading app.

Really nice app but I wish...

2022-11-29

I would like KyBook3EbookReader to have automatic vertical scrolling. I paid twice for the premium version but I find it no different from the free version. There is no one to write to about this and no help if you need it. Also it doesn't Sync with my iPhone even though I paid for that feature. So why do I like it? It has many adjustments for me to make on the look of the page like Marvin. It looks great and has lots of fonts to choose from. Marvin gives even more background and paper choices, and actually syncs with other devices.

Translation doesn't seem to work at all. Why isn't this and synchronization working, Mr. Constantin?

Almost perfect.

2022-12-30

After many searches, KyBook3EbookReader is truly the best e-reader for iOS/iPadOS. It simply works, works well, works efficiently, works in a logical and easy-to-understand way. It has a built-in audiobook reader and you can easily listen to anything you have in there.

The only annoying thing is that even when you have a subscription, book metadata (like titles, cover art) do not synchronize across devices. I think the developer disabled the cloud storage here and it won’t sync metadata over iCloud.

If that was fixed and development was ongoing this would literally be a perfect app.

Excellent, but could be better

2023-01-31

Overall, KyBook3EbookReader is excellent. It even has an online search engine drawing from various scholarly sites with an absurd catalogue of books. The navigation thru the tiles is done via tiles at bottom of the screen and work well.

Cloud syncing: I would love if I could sync the KyBook on all of my apple products, All using same iTunes ID. I’m currently downloading and manually matching books and their progress.

Native apple support: when using websites and downloading various pdfs, there is not an option to use KyBook3EbookReader to open that document. Whereas, ePub reader does.

Aside from the above, I recommend.

The Only Ebook App You Should Get!

2023-03-04

I was surprised how distinguished KyBook3EbookReader was from it’s counterparts.
I only started using KyBook3EbookReader since it was the only one of ten other apps that allowed me to add books to it via 3uTools.
But once I started going through the features, I found that KyBook3EbookReader was much more than I expected it to be.
Dark-Mode was something that I thought was vital for readers, at least for those that read for hours, so I found it abhours that this seemed to be a feature that was either lacking or missing because you didn’t upgrade to “Pro” for $7/Month. That figure didn’t really exist, it’s rhetorical.
Long gone are the days when you used to do one-time fees and never worry about it again.
But not only can you pay a one-time fee in KyBook3EbookReader, the reason why I even bought it in the first place was because KyBook3EbookReader didn’t restrict any features just because you were a free user.
At least not any that stood out enough for me to not want to use KyBook3EbookReader anymore.
It had Dark-Mode and the ability to add your own fonts.
That’s all I expected Apple to add to iBooks but since it doesn’t seem like they’re moving off of the old iBooks from 2008, you have to find an app that has these features.
KyBook3EbookReader has everything that I need and even more features that I didn’t know I needed.
As long as KyBook3EbookReader offers a one-time purchase option (which was for options I don’t even use) then KyBook3EbookReader will always be above all the other Ebook apps out there.

Fantastic! ... and no subs required.

2023-04-02

Great app and great developer. Glad to see an updated version.
KyBook3EbookReader is awesome and fully functional without any sub. We use it in all of my graduate school classes. I do wish we could select which book thumbnail to use for folders.

KyBook3EbookReader USERS need to learn basic reading comprehension. A subscription is NOT REQUIRED... The sub is ONLY for syncing to the developers specific servers ( like if you have multiple devices and your icloud is out of space ).

I use icloud instead (no app sub) with multiple devices and my books are accessible on everything. You could also just not sync things. I think the sub being titled ‘Pro’ confuses the non-reading users. Its more of a sync sub, not an app sub, and is not required.

Great, Needs Minor Improvement

2023-05-04

This has become my favorite ebook app since Apple Books was removing my books from my device so I’d have to constantly redownload them—often without getting the book covers back. I tried out a few different alternatives, and KyBook came out on top.

There are a couple things that could be improved, however:

1. The bar at the bottom of the iPhone X is always on. This is very annoying in dark-mode.
2. There’s no auto-switch between day and night themes. Preferably a choice between switch at brightness, sunrise/sunset, or another set time.
3. The sketches (an absolutely awesome feature, by the way) don’t link with the text, so if you switch to landscape mode and it doesn’t fit anymore.

If these features were added, this would be an all-star app.

Best reading app but...

2023-06-04

KyBook3EbookReader is really good the best app i have used so far. It has dictionaries, multiple tabs and a decent ui. Despite all of this when I tried linking my google drive it complained that KyBook3EbookReader was trying to access sensitive personal information so probably best not to link it with any of your accounts.

Please bring back 3D Touch!

2023-07-06

This is a great app, but for some reason one of the best features was removed in the most recent update. I actually postponed updating KyBook3EbookReader because of it (I wish I held on a little longer). I really liked being able to use 3D touch on a word to quickly get the definition for it. I understand it was replaced with "fast selection", but I've only gotten that to work twice for me. Please bring the feature back!

Reads nearly anything and does it pretty darned well

2023-08-06

I purchased this in order to read djvu files, which is an unfortunately obscure format. But I find myself turning to this to read PDFs and ebooks as well — it’s attractive and fast and customizable.

I have one quibble; the library and collections interface is a little confusing. But that’s not really the most important part of a reader anyway.

Also, I once asked the developer for something (to remove the home bar indicator on the iPhone X and up). I interpreted his response as a snarky dismissal, but it was hardly a week later before that enhancement showed up in KyBook3EbookReader . So mea culpa there.

Love the versatility!

2023-09-07

Super versatile app, at least in terms of the personalization aspect. You can rename all the files and sort them into many different folders (and have folders within those folders). It also accepts many different types of files, so that’s great compared to other apps I’ve tried to use for reading ebooks/PDFs/other file types. I’m a big fan, and already have a ton of books loaded in. I wish you didn’t have to pay a subscription to have your books sync across different devices. A one-time fee would be more reasonable, and I would be much more likely to pay it. Other than that, I love KyBook3EbookReader !

Truly Excellent Software that’s Stuck in Beta

2023-10-09

I’m fairly certain only one programmer is responsible for the full library of KyBook versions. Every one of them has been well polished and well designed. This is no different, and for that, I applaud the dev. There are a few broken elements including the account creation (though it is superfluous) and some WebDAV integration (there are workarounds), but that doesn’t change diminish my rating at all.

I’m sad that the updates seem to have stopped in the last 6 months because there is plenty of potential untapped. For instance, Goodreads integration and syncing metadata (reading position, notes, bookmarks, etc.) with a cloud. Hopefully, this project is not dead!

The best e-reader in the store

2023-11-09

KyBook3EbookReader is a very well made reader. It allows for a huge amount of customization and works with many ebook formats. It also has a search and download function where you can add your own archives. It honestly has more features than I’m probably aware of. It is the only app I’ve used that can shine a light to the kindle app.

All that being said the only feature it is missing and I hope the developers can add in the future is the ability to predict how long until you finish a chapter. In the kindle app it can give an estimate of time remaining in a chapter based on how quickly you’ve been reading.

The best but with a couple of defects

2023-12-11

I am a book lover and this is the best comprehensive app I’ve found in app store for reading and managing my library, but there are a couple of shortcomings that nags me; first with regard to pdf files the first kybook app (which is not updated any more) had a better pdf engine (or I suppose so) because one could magnify documents to a larger scale and this was very helpful in reading pdfs that were in double page format or the fonts are very tiny(very handy when you don’t have glasses around) and second if you import a book more than one copy (erroneously) and later need to delete extra copies all files are deleted and you cannot save the original copy so you have to keep all copies together (and waste some space) or delete all copies of the book and then import it it again once (if you have access to the book).
In the end I recommend you to buy the pro version because it’s very cheap compared to it’s capabilities.

Tried them all, this is the one

2024-01-11

After trying every ebook reader app out there, this was the one that I kept coming back to. The customization options are incredible. The ability to wirelessly connect to calibre, import from OPDS, and even other websites, is amazing.

The ability to edit all aspects of Metadata within KyBook3EbookReader is a game changer, the variety of ways you can group and organize your books and display them within KyBook3EbookReader can't be beat.

The fact that they offer the wireless syncing subscription is the icing on the cake. The fact that you can unlock all the other options with a purchase instead of a subscription is just what I was looking for.

My only concern is what will happen when the day comes that such an incredible developer moves on to other things and no longer supports such an incredible app. But for now, this is the one.

Was a great app 2

2024-12-16

If you have KyBook2, you don’t need this version. KyBook3 doesn’t have the ability to sync books between devices (KyBook2 has iCloud sync). A true pain for PDF documents - you can’t even transfer a PDF book with comments to the iPad for better reading.

One of the best.

2024-12-16

t. I'm just now figuring out how to use iCloud drive rather than itunes to load up books.

I'd like it to open books when i import them. Instead i have to back out to the inbox, refresh the inbox, but I'm just an instant gratification victim complaining about an amazing app.

I like the TTS in all the KY readers, which is why I'm a paying customer of all three. I will continue with this reader as it seems the most attended to on KyBook3EbookReader .

This is becoming my new favorite reader app

2024-12-16

I really like the level of attention to detail in KyBook3EbookReader, the interface is Apple-like unobtrusive, thoughtful, elegant, the functionality surpasses many other apps.
A few very small gripes - the bookmark button in the lower right corner does not always respond to touches and could be perhaps just a tiny bit larger.
Also, I really liked the original icon, it would be lovely if the developer can include it as an alternative one - I know that Apple allows this.
Other than that I think this is the best ebook reader on KyBook3EbookReader Store.

Awesome epub reader

2024-12-16

I am too excited to have this version of KyBook even though I just purchased the version 1 recently.

The function allows user to add dictionary is awesome, but can you provide more option to this dictionary? (increase/decrease font size, change font,...)
