Where do I even begin to sing HUI’s praises? From the get go, HUI has maintained 5 stars in my book. I had been visiting my new grandson in Kapi’olani Medical Center. A couple days before his discharge (yay!) I considered renting a car to run errands and do some shopping. This is when I ran into Kimberly, the awesome car share coordinator who was manning an informational table. After hearing all the perks this service had to offer, I rented one of the vehicles for two hours. Well, ya know how things can get on O’ahu, and I kept calling support to add a few minutes, an hour, and ultimately ended up renting the vehicle at the 24 hour day rate. The support was incredible!

In addition to all the perks I remember being told about, a major plus was not having to pay for parking at the hospital. I went in and out many times, and this saved me a bunch of money.

*Side note: I fell in love with the car and will look into getting one for my teen drivers. :)

The first car we chose was located in a residential apartment building. I was told I could go straight to the garage and get the car, but that didn’t happen. The apartment building had major security, and they denied me access to the car saying “only building residents could use it”. When I called HUI they again told me to just to the garage but wouldn’t listen to me when I said I literally couldn’t get to it. The lady basically told me I was wrong. So I wasted a $10 Uber ride to the place to be denied, and had to get another car at another location which was another $10 Uber. And when I emailed them telling them my bad experience, (waste of time and my money), I got NO RESPONSE. So a $65 car turned into $85 because they don’t have their stuff set up correctly, and then had them had the audacity to straight up ignore me. Never again

I had multiple issues with HuiCarShare , gas card and late fee charge due to not ending my reservation on HuiCarShare . Called app support team and left a message, immediately they texted me a response and check if my app was updated, which it was. Updated it, issue resolved. For the gas card, I couldn’t immediately locate the one in the vehicle, so I used my cc and sent an email with a copy of the receipt, I received an response immediately with a refund credit to my cc. For the late charge, I thought it would automatically end on the reserved end time, apparently not, so I was charged a steep late fee. Called customer service and they applied a credit to my current rental. Overall, easy to use and great customer service. Cars are conveniently placed all around Honolulu. Would highly recommend.

So tries Hui for my first time last night and must I say it’s MAYJAH (AMAZING)!!!! The convenience, simplicity, and freedom is just something you can’t deny this company. For starters all you need is 3 things; a valid license, a credit or debit card, and a smartphone! I’m positive almost everyone has these three things nowadays. You download HuiCarShare , connect your card, then send a picture of you holding your ID and BAM it verified me the next day! May I say Hui is also very efficient? I also spoke with customer service and she was amazing! Her name is Julie. It’s a local company just trying to keep everything local from staff to the stations the cars are placed. I may be mumbling on but it was just too much of a fun experience to not talk about it! I definitely know how my family will be getting around when they visit me! Thank you Hui for being around great app, staff, and services you offer!!!! Mahalo!

I used Hui for 5 days and it worked perfectly every time. The gas card is easy to use and I had no problems filling the car up at Hele, though you can go to any gas station except for Costco and Sam's Club. There are bad reviews of HuiCarShare not working to unlock the car and I was nervous about this since you need to have cell service to connect to car. However, I went all over Oahu (Kualoa ranch, Makapuu lighthouse hike, Koko head, Eternity beach, pupukea beach, PCC, Dole, Haleiwa, North shore beaches, etc.) and was able to unlock/lock the car (I have verizon). I like that you can cancel on short notice in case your plans change and it's also one of the cheapest options since you don't have to pay for parking. Hui and Turo are the best rental car options and I would definitely use Hui again

This service is EXCELLENT! Very convenient. The customer service staff was SO helpful and talk me through using HuiCarShare due to my inexperience with apps and things. Best of all I got connected straight to a human on the phone and didn’t have to go thru a robot to get real help. Hehe. The car was great and very smooth and easy to drive. Even the things that comes with the car make it so handy to get around like the gas card AND the multi-phone charger. I would say all in all the drive hui cars are better AND cheaper then renting a car the traditional way, catching the bus, or a cab or even renting a biki bike!!! Definitely going to start using this service regularly!!!! Thanks Hui!!!

Coming from the mainland, I was excited to use the Getaround app to make my way around the island until I get a car. When I got here however, I was enlightened that Getaround does not exist in Hawaii. So, I went on the search for another carshare app, little did I know that it would be so hard to find one. Hui is advertised as an app that is similar to Getaround, but here’s where it’s not. Getaround has cars on almost every other block when you’re on the mainland. This Hui service is limited only to the Honolulu/ Waikiki area of the island, and therefore is basically useless to the many local people who do not live in that area, or tourists that are staying anywhere else in the island. I was all signed up and ready to book a car when I realized you can only pick one up in that area of the Island. The purpose of me renting a vehicle was for me to get from the windward side to Honolulu. Would not recommend HuiCarShare unless you are living/ vacationing downtown.

I would give them 0 stars if I could. We were unable to get into the car because HuiCarShare failed to work and unlock the car for us. HuiCarShare is incredibly buggy and barely works. We called customer service around 10 times and were only able to get someone on the line once. That conversation was entirely unhelpful. The rep clearly had no idea how to solve the issue and we were told a tech person would call us back to help. We waited by the car for two hours. No call came. During this time, we came across two other groups who were unable to get their app to work, unable to get into their car, and unable to get in touch with support. Ultimately we gave up and left to make new plans for the day that didn't require a car. We had to reschedule other tours that we had planned for the day because Hui completely let us down.

Hui is one of those apps that continuously comes in hand time and time again. I’ve been using this service for about a month now to get around and it never fails me. There have been a few times when I’ve needed to contact customer service because of minor errors or questions on my end and they are quick, friendly, and accommodating. The team at Hui continues to exceeded my expectations time and time again. If you need transportation for the day, or even a couple hours- DOWNLOAD THIS!! You won’t regret it. Great selection of vehicles and spaced out within a convenient proximity. Better than Turo in my opinion.

In a modern world where our leaders and influencers are working to increasingly make our cities more walkable, sustainable and cost effective, HUI has in my opinion accelerated that vision. It’s a Game Changer!!! I must admit I had some doubt it could be this simple to rent a car through a app, reserve it for only $9.95 per hour and pay no additional charges for gas and insurance; but YES it’s that simple. HUI will become the template for all sustainable cities.

It’s very easy to use. The cars are clean and new, and with HUI always providing new pick up locations across the city, it’s very convenient. Do your life a favor and download HuiCarShare today. Trust me you won’t regret it!

As anyone who travelled to Oahu knows, parking it limited and expensive. This is the greatest app you can have in Oahu. Funny enough I was actually looking into another car share service but the other one would have taken a week to get their card to drive. I called the customer service at Hui and boom with a few seconds I was connected to someone and they said I can have my accounted opened in minutes. Great news since I was already in Waikiki. The locations are great, HuiCarShare is nice and their customer service team is beyond wonderful, they truly embody the Aloha Spirit.

Renting HUI was so different from the usual process -I questioned if it was for real and also, if it was wise to give so much information to an unknown entity over the web. Glad I did. Car was great... price was fair and inclusive of insurance (which is such a rip off) and gas. I would do this again everywhere. I have been reading about the concept of disruptive innovation lately and this experience made me see the car rental business as being ripe for disruptive innovation. Bring it on!

Rented a Prius off a recommendation to checkout Hui for hassle free car rentals for the day. The car’s gas tank was on nearly empty when we picked it up. After fueling and getting on the road, we got a “Check Engine” warning and the power from the engine completely died on a extremely busy highway stretch. No response from the gas peddle, was lucky enough to have clear space to coast onto the side and stop with the 4-ways on to warn immense oncoming traffic.

The Prius gave us repeating “Braking Power Low, Visit Dealer,” “Check Engine, Visit Dealer,” “Lane Departure Alert Malfunction, Visit Dealer,” “Pre-Collision System Malfunction, Visit Dealer.”

Hui says I have to pay for the time I used the vehicle up until the incident, never mind I’m writing this review during the hour+ I’ve been stranded on the side of the highway. Waiting for a UBER they sent to get out here. No official word yet on my refund, or reimbursement for $20 of gas I paid for out of pocket. No offer of a complimentary rental, not that I would feel safe doing so. Awful experience, will never be using this service ever again.

Do not use this service. Stay away from Hui for your own safety.

They claim 24/7 roadside assistance yet when you call the number it goes straight to voicemail! Our electronic stopped working after the first day and it ruined our whole plans for the day because we had to wait for the office to open! Terrible customer service, poor roadside assistance, and HuiCarShare is just stupid. They set it up for you to be stranded with no help. I don’t recommend anyone else to use this, us the extra $$$ it would take to rent from any other car rental spots is worth it because at least you know what you’re getting. HuiCarShare is totally reliant on electronics and once their system is down then you’ll be stuck in the middle of nowhere with no road side assistance because they don’t even pick up…

Save yourself some aggravation and having some app
Have your credit card and personal information without being able to utilize it. Wasted an hour filling out And uploading my license and credit card and when asked to answer questions about driving record it would only allow you to save a yes answer to either having a moving violation or having had 3 or more violations. Why would I answer yes when I’ve had none? Maybe they want to charge more I don’t know. I really wanted to use HuiCarShare so I deleted and went back in. Same problem. What a waste of time. I guess I’ll just Uber it to wherever I want to go.

I’m surprise this company hasn’t brought other rental car places to bankruptcy. This is the new modern rental car. You can choose from various locations. You pay by the hour. You can modify your reservations without penalty. You don’t have to fill up the gas all the way to full, only at least 1/4 full. And the best part, their staff is super friendly and courteous. Hands down, this is what customer service and needs are all about. Will definitely use again

I love HUI. Im so thrilled that they accept debit cards now in addition To credit cards. I prefer HUI over TURO and the big corporate car rental companies. HUI is perfect for just renting for a short time let’s say for a grocery run or when moving from place to place or just for a beach excursion, I’d rather not waste gases into our ozone for unecessary 24 hr plus rentals everyone else requires, especially when I just need to knock out a quick errand. Jennifer the manager in Honolulu is so accomadati g she made me less stressed out. Thank you HUI!

This was a godsend for me in Honolulu when I realized I needed a rental car for more than just two the days that I had booked with the rental company. Finding a rental in Waikiki last minute is almost impossible. Best thing is you don’t have to worry about parking because you can return it to their own rideshare spot. My only gripe is that I wish they would clean the cars more thoroughly in between customers.

I was hesitant to rent their car because I didn’t know much about this company but I’m glad to have rented from them. Gas is included in the rental fee and you can rent for however long you need it. It’s so easy to rent and there’s no keys so you’ll need to download HuiCarShare on your phone to access the car. Overall I’m very thankful for this rental company since you don’t have to rent it for the whole day. Mahalo Hui!!

Horrible, we booked a month prior from July 14 - 19 and it worked fine the first two days, starting on July 16th the reservation for the car disappeared while we were driving out, we were unable to get back into the car and it left us stranded- and had to uber back to our hotel. The support line was unhelpful, refusing to take calls DURING their business hours (called at 9-10AM), I’ve sent them an email and received no response and so far no explanation about what’s going on. Imagine if we were farther and our reservation were to somehow “disappear”. I would avoid at all costs and book elsewhere.
