Used only as admin

I do not understand why synology decided to set the permissions like this. Only admin accounts can use SynologyLiveCam. Permissions should have been similar to Surveillance Station. I want to allow my users to use this feature but I have to make them all admins.

In addition, the help file in SynologyLiveCam does not mention that you need to be an admin. Wasted so much time to figure this out.

@Synology: you are doing so good and so bad at the same time.

A license for an app

Free app costs $53 if you want to use it. I bought your NAS, my cameras are licensed (which is silly enough) but now I need a camera license for SynologyLiveCam . You think they would mention that in the ad. The one star review is for wasting my time.

Missing major feature

They messed up a very important feature with this (support has acknowledged it with me) SynologyLiveCam that runs on the phone that’s acting as a IP camera has a switch to turn on the led to help see in dark environments but there’s no access to the led from DS cam?... I guess Synology either wants you to leave the LED on 24/7 or run home to turn it on when something is happening that you want to see and record? I think this was a major oversight by Synology! I’m happy with most of my Synology NAS and was prepared to replace my Pc based Surveillance DVRs with a NaS but with the cost of the license to add cameras they should not overlook things like this! The DSCam app has PTZ control so access to the phone’s led should be a non issue! It doesn’t work with Android or IOS I tried 4 Android phones a IPad and a iPhone but this feature was forgotten! I thought it was a limitation of certain devices Synology support told me they will submit it as a future feature! So if you want to turn your old mobile device into a ip camera treat it as a beta it’s rough around the edges definitely not ready for any serious security! Even if I had dedicated IP cams I would still like to turn on the phone led to scare people off remotely.

more $

have to purchase yet another license...
not worth it- maybe if i had an extra already available

Virtual Garbage

Congratulations on inventing virtual garbage. SynologyLiveCam is nothing other than a waste of time and space.

No description

Please add a basic description to this application. It’s hard to tell which synology application is intended to do what.

Extortion

This is only a tool to access cameras I’ve already paid for licenses to run. How in your wildest dreams can you justify now charging a license for a tool to access already licensed cameras?

You have to buy a license???

I can’t believe they require you to buy another surveillance station license to occasionally record to your own NAS using your own phone. That is ridiculous.

No landscape mode

I wish this had landscape recording and playback . I been using Synology products for over 20 years but this is not ready for prime time yet.

Doesn’t work. Can’t connect to NAS.

Tried multiple devices. App just doesn’t connect to NAS neither via lan ip or quickconnect.
Using admin credentials. All other Synology apps (like ds photo etc) working with the same address and credentials.

Doesn’t go more than 12 hours without crashing

I spend $50 on a camera license for this and it is not a useable product. I have tried 3 different phones. I have done a factory reset. It randomly crashes every day.

This makes it worthless.

Also why can’t I control the focus and zoom?

Missing key feature

SynologyLiveCam should record when away from the nas and upload when it connects to a home network. Ideal for role your own dash cams.

It requires its own license

This is not for viewing

Works great

Works just as i hoped it would, yes i had to buy a license but it is worth it, some reviews mentioned it does not work away from home , i found it works just as i had hoped and i am able to stream video right to my NAS from work 50 miles away. Quality is good with a few minor skips could have a bigger issue if you are on weak cellular signal

stopped working with ios14.2 beta

Been using SynologyLiveCam and worked great until it stopped working with ios14.2 beta. Not a ton of advanced features but really solid utility for connecting to NAS.

Was working fine until ios14.2 beta update. Hope this is resolved quickly.

Works well. iPhone 5s (iOS 12.5.1) favors near focus

Up and running was pretty straight forward. Is it possible to have SynologyLiveCam set the camera focus or at least set it to infinity? The phone refuses to focus through a screen outside the window instead of the background.

Edit: ISO control/autoISO (with gentle step changing) as well would be very useful. I’ve noticed every time the ISO automatically changes, such as when the sun is going down, the focus gets checked again and the screen outside the window becomes the focal target again. Not looking to make SynologyLiveCam into a camera app, just hoping to get minimal control over the camera to stabilize some of its more irritating auto functions. Thank you! App functions very well. Just need it to control a few things to make an older iPhone a more reliable surveillance camera.

Works just as expected!

Works well with recording my phone straight to the NAS! My only feature request would be able to record both the front and rear camera at the same time for use as a dash cam.
